Cast of Characters: Chas Chandler, Rien D'Arqueness

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas' two bedroom apartment has seen better days. From the look of it, you'd think the place was ransacked by robbers. The table in the entery hall is overturned, keys a few matchboxes and coins scattered over the floor. A standing lamp in the living room is also on its side, the bulb within shattered leaving filament and glass around its resting place. A comfortable sitting chair is spun to face outward instead of in, and the coffee table is askew of the seating arrangements around it. A leather longcoat is tossed haphazardly over it.

The chaos continues through the hall towards the bedroom, a woman's summer sweater in the hall next to a single heavy workboot. A pair of ballet slippers: one in the guest bedroom, one in the entry to the guest bathroom. The other workboot next to a crumpled polo shirt with a single button missing from the collar. The button is in the open doorway of the bedroom.

The bedroom is also a catastrophe of clothing and personal effects. A pair of men's jeans and a woman's blouse are next to one another in haphazard dissaray ont he ground at the foot of the bed. And a trio of undergarments (one male, two female) are tossed to three corners of the room.

Chas, the owner of the apartment, wakes with a start. He doesn't sleep often and when he does its a voluntary thing and he always wakes with a start. Memories are his dreams and his of late have been cautionary. He blinks his eyes, adjusting to the pre-dawn dimness of the room and frowning. He keeps a tight ship on his aparmtment, and the disarray is a noticable departure from that. Not only that, but... some of the clothes are those of a woman and familiar at that.

It takes a moment for him to realize his position on the bed. He usually takes up the middle of the bed, it's -his- bed after all. But he's on the left of it. And he's not alone. His eyes shift and regard the figure next to him, a slow creeping sense of dread. His first dream after drifting to voluntary slumber... was it not as much a fantasy as he thought?

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
A lifetime of danger (and heightened senses) have left Rien highly aware of her surroundings, and even her subconscious tends to pend up on shifts and changes. Instinct is highly sharpened and a necessary response honed by the Howlett's, even this one. The shift in heat, scent, even the slight shift in weight distribution on the mattress bring Rien awake suddenly.

Chas will get to see the tension that enters the gentle slope of bare shoulders and back even as he can see the deeper breath that suggests Rien is taking in the myriad scents hanging in the air. Having been on her stomach, that blonde head turns slowly, and wide blue eyes peek up at Chas from beneath a fall of wild waves and curls.

The scents are unmistakable, still as sharp to her sensitive nose as it would have been last night. She doesn't get the luxury of wondering, her nose tells her exactly what happened. The flood of memories accompanying the scents lead her to stare at him for long moments, speechless. Swallowing hard, she gathers up all the aplomb that she can muster, not much at all, and murmurs, "Uhm. Good morning?" Frozen in place, as if she were in the bed with a wild animal and any sudden movement could provoke attack.

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas blinks a few more times, his blue eyes glowing like dying embers in the dim light. "Umm... is it?" he asks, slowly, hesitantly. "I, uh, I remember getting to this point last night. Thought it was a dream to be honest." Which is a compliment. "But, mmm," he looks at his room and then at their forms both given modesty by virtues of the blanket and sheets, "looks like it was..." another slow deliberate swallow, "rather intense."

It was in his fantasy--or rather, his memory--of the event. "But, is it a good morning is really... up to the parties in questions isn't it?" he asks. "I mean, for it, sure... but I toss it back to you? Is it a good morning?" It's clear that he's nervous, the lingering scent of adrenaline and worry mixing with the scent of ozone that constantly hangs around his form.

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
The tension starts to ease from Rien as she watches Chas hem and haw and stammer his way through a backhanded compliment and non-answer to the question. She shifts slightly, rolling to her side and tucking the sheet up a little higher as she does so, lifting her gaze to meet his. "Well, I... can't say that it isn't a... surprise." Drawing in a breath, she lets it out slowly and gives a small smile, "But it's a good morning from where I'm sitting."

Rien meets his gaze, taking in his expression, brows drawing together, "Unless.. I mean... unless it isn't from your side?" Clearing her throat, she lets her gaze drop as she tucks a lock of hair behind one ear, "I can.. definitely understand if not. I mean.. you seem like.. like you would normally prefer to take things slower and this was... well, you said it. Rather intense." Flushing slightly, she murmurs, "If I, ah, came on too strong... or pushed things too far.. I, I'm sorry."

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas quickly shakes his head. "Oh. No. It's not... I didn't mean" he runs a hand through his hair. "I just... I mean, usually yeah I take it slow but..." he smirks a bit. "It's been a long time and... well, I didn't want to take advantage of you or anything." He considers the subject and snorts. "Not like that's exactly an easy task given who and what you are. But still..." he replies. "You know what I mean."

He shifts a bit on the bed. "I guess the question is now..." he looks askance for a moment. "What we do about it?" he asks. "I mean, was it a one time thing? Do we want to put a label on this? Is there even a this?" He shakes his head. "I'm not exactly the expert on relationships. I mean, given I've been married once, and dated all of..." he ticks off a finger, "one other person seriously... it's a bit of a untested waters situation here."

He lets out a slow breath. "If you want to call it one and done, that's fine. I'd understand. I just..." he looks over at her again. "It was rather nice. Spontaneous, sure. But nice."

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
Chuckling softly, Rien gives a small nod and murmurs, "Well then let me put that to rest. You didn't take advantage of me, I was.. very willing." She darts a glance towards him and flashes a small smile. "I'd be lying if I said I hadn't.. considered it. Before. But... Robbie. And Asaariel. And we seemed to.. clash.. for awhile. And at least part of that was my fault." She runs a hand through her hair and gives a nervous chuckle, "I, ah, sort of took out the attraction on you. Not that it was your fault. Just.. I didn't want to admit.. well."

She lets out a breath in a rush and looks back to him, blinking at the question. Another laugh is startled from her before she's pressing her fingers to her lips and shaking her head, smiling at him. "I'm in no hurry to 'label' anything. But.. I would like to explore whatever is between us. See where it goes, where we want it to go." Rien flushes and glances down, "You're still up one up on me, and given my age, that's.. a little embarrassing to admit."

Looking back up, Rien lifts both brows at the final statement, then smiles and gives a nod, "Very nice. And.. spontaneous isn't bad. Certainly the best surprise I've had in.. ages."

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas nods with a smile of his own. "Then we see where this goes then... and... let it take us where it will..." he chuckles. "I mean, it was... the best..." The chuckle turns into a full laugh. "I think I can leave it there to be honest." He grins at her. "The enthusiasm was... more than appreciated. If... you couldn't tell." He looks around the clothes strewn room.

"Your circumstances were exceptional to begin with, hence the counting issue. Trust me, it's not a matter of looks or anything... that's for damn sure" he replies with another smile for her. "And... I think my situation with you was the same. Pretty bloody juvenille of me, I admit. Picking on you because I fancied you and all. But..." he shrugs. "Blokes will be blokes."

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
A warm and bright smile blooms across her face as she gives a nod, "I'd like that." She coughs to cover a laugh at his 'leaving it there' as she glances around the room, then back to him and chuckles, "You know.. I knew someone who once told me that I'd never /really/ experienced the full sweep of desire because I'd never been so eager that I'd broken furniture... I'd like to think I'm more considerate than that but.." Her eyes taken in the skew of the bed and she chuckles, "There might have been some truth to it. I don't really allow myself to.. to indulge and, well..." She flushes and murmurs, "Maybe I just needed the right person to.. bring it out."

She lets out a soft laugh, "I think we can both claim some rather exceptional circumstances.. but, ah.." Rien looks up at him and smiles, one hand lifting to trace a scar with a smile, "I think I can safely say that clearly there's no issue with looks on either side." Chuckling softly, she murmurs, "Prety juvenile of both of us, really. But I think, even the verbal sparring was.. fun." Shifting in closer, she tucks herself in against his side and smiles up at him, "Besides.. it worked. Can't really argue with results." Her smile widens a touch, "Especially such.. pleasant.. results."

Chas Chandler has posed:
Chas wraps an arm around the woman and takes a moment to accomodate the feeling of her body up against his own. It's not an unpleasant feeling at all. In fact, he finds he rather enjoys the sensation. "No argument with that assessment" he says. A glance is given out the window, the first rays of light only now creeping across the city.

"You know..." he says hesitantly, "it's not exactly daylight yet... if you wanted to truly make it a night to remember... we've got more time..." He looks down at her, a mischevious smile blooming across his face. "I mean, if you're up for it that is... I'm seventy-five percent sure that the structure of the building can handle it. I'm willing to bet on those odds." He leans down and kisses her gently. "If you are."

Rien D'Arqueness has posed:
Enjoying the weight and warmth of his arm around her, Rien takes a moment to simply savor the nearness of him, his scent all around her is pleasing and leaves her feeling more at east. She closes her eyes for the brief moment, letting her other senses take over to inform her of the enjoyable feel of him against her, the sound of sheets rustling as they adjust. A smile touching her lips as she revels in the newness.

Opening her eyes to meet his, Rien's own smile grows at his suggestion. Reaching up, her fingers skim across his beard, cupping his cheek as she draws him down while her own head lifts. Nosetips brushing briefly as she returns that kiss, savoring it as she had his arm around her shoulders. Lips brushing against his as she murmurs, "I'll take that bet... I think we could take out a few support beams if we get rowdy enough.." Chuckling, she pulls him back in for another kiss even as she draws him in over her...
