Synopsis: Meet the Parents!
Cast of Characters: Sunny Harlow, Billy Batson

Sunny Harlow has posed:
An invitation to lunch with her parents post Halloween, Sunny was on her way. She was currently wrapped in a white turtleneck sweater with partially detached sleeves, a basket of muffins brought with her from work and she was headed to her parents apartment. While a certain Kryptonian might have a wholesome farm in Kansas to retreat to the townhouse of her parents was located in the city. Still, a doctor and a school teacher, her parents were well-off and decent people. Still there was one difference that might make the usually relaxing event a little more tense.

She'd brought Billy along.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy's reaction to seeing the tall Viltrumite girl in her sweater could be summed succinctly as, "Rowr." He kept the 'rowr' to himself. He does feel they're past the peck on the cheek stage and while she has her hands busy, he gives her a slightly impish kiss on the lips. He'd help her with the muffins but he was already carrying four coffees and a bouquet of flower for Mother Harlow. "You look fantastic. Are you nervous? Don't be nervous. We're very cute. That florist said so." He tickles the indestructible girl on her chin. That calms girls down right?

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"I mean, a little," she admits, a little mock-pout at the kiss before she comes to the door and chuckles lightly, the tickle bringing a scrunching of her face up and suggesting it was -not- an approach that was going to calm her down. One last momentary check of herself in the window to make sure she looked neat enough and then she leaned down to nudge the door open with her hip after pulling the handle down with one hand.

"Mom? Dad?" she calls out, announcing herself. "We're here!"

The response?

A male voice calling back: "I'm in the kitchen! Your mum will be down in a minute."

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson does a final check before going through the door. Collar, tie, zipper! He rubs the top of one shoe on the back of his pant leg to shine it a little more and takes deep breath to enter. He wonders briefly how she intends to play this out. He told her it was okay for her folks to learn about Shazam. It might ease their concerns. Billy the human might get hurt. Shazam the hero was a great back up for their cute delicate blonde wrecking ball.

Not that he was worried about her hurting him. Ever. You could give out all those stats, she can lift these many tons, fly that fast. She was his Sunny, the sweetest treasure ever. This was a good part of the reason Shazam got whomped by her when they trained.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Well, he'd told her it was okay and all, but did they know? It was hard to be sure. Still, when they step through into the kitchen it wouldn't take a genius to spot the tall and athletic man in glasses that might have passed for Clark Kent if it wasn't for the rather obvious fact he was balding and the facial hair who was currently standing there with a tea towel slung over his shoulder, leaning down to plant a kiss on his daughter's cheek with a 'Hey Muffin' which immediately had her protesting at the name under her breath if only for the fact that she had brought an actual basket of muffins from work and set them aside.

The man offers a hug and a ruffle of her hair before looking down to Billy, whom he could probably still meet eye to eye as Shazam too.

"So, Billy, right?"

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson returns the man's strong grip and grins. "Yes sir, Billy Batson. Nice to meet you. Thanks for having me over for lunch. Could I do anything to help?" He gives 'Muffin' a smile. He is so keeping that bullet in his pistol for the future. But being a member of a large family, you always offer to help in the kitchen, or anywhere else.

"Oh... I brought us cafe lattes to go with the muffins. I guess we can microwave them after lunch, or drink them with lunch." He trails off a little, glancing at Sunny.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Arnold Harlow," he offers, the handshake firm before he draws back and then turns to check in on the oven. "Pizzas will be another ten minutes or so," he assesses before gesturing for the pair to sit. "So Billy, want a beer?" he offers, Sunny herself raising an eyebrow at the offer as she makes to find a seat for herself, in time for her mother arrived, a slim woman about 5'8 in build, her blonde hair was cut short to an angled bob and her dark blue eyes spotted the pair as she came down the stairs.

"Sorry Sunshine, phonecall from work...and this must be Billy?" she questions as she makes a beeline for Sunny, the heroine herself standing to give her adoptive mother an embrace and a nod. "That's him!"

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson stops in mid sitting to rise all the way for Mrs. Harlow. Mother Harlow? Later for that. He offers her the bouquet with a wry, "This is me, nice to meet you." So hug, handshake? No idea. He leaves himself open for whatever. Victor was all handshakes. Rosa was about hugs. All the time. No matter who was watching. He smiles and tries to stop over thinking.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
The flowers earn a little smile of amusement from Sunny's nother before she nods her head and gestures for him to sit, collecting a coffee for herself and moving to sit on the curved sofa next to her husband and facing Sunny.

Billy's apparent ignoring of the offer for a beer from her father isn't followed up on, maybe it was a test from the large man he'd inadvertantly passed given he himself did -not- return with a beer as he settled down, a grin on his face.

"So this is him huh?" he begins, a little glance to Sunny's mother before he chuckles. "What do you think Chris?"

Dr. Christine Harlow clearly shares the humor, a little gesture with her coffee in hand. "I think usually boyfriends are afraid of meeting a girl's father, but-"

"But you imagine it's a little different when that girl can literally break you in half, right?"

"Yes."

"Mom! Dad!"

The exchange between the three members at least made on thing clear, she'd told them that he -knew- about her abilities.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson nods to the dad. "Uhm thank you for the offer sir, but I don't drink." No not since he first became Shazam. He was past that foolishness. He was finding new foolishness all the time though. He considers his answer to the mom carefully.

Option One: Yes, her great powers are part of my plan to conquer the world! Heh heh heh!

Nah, too much.

Option Two: Well we've made out without her killing me yet.So far so good!!!

No! Solomon would kill him.

Billy shifts to sit a little closer to Sunny and says, "You raised a very sweet and kindhearted girl. Honestly, I'm more afraid of hurting her, her feelings I mean. If she broke me in half, I would deserve it. But worse, I'd have turned her away and I really like your daughter." His hand gropes around a little.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Good answer," comes from Dr Harlow, the blonde woman sipping her coffee with a smile while her husband wraps and arm around her shoulders, the large man chuckling lightly and shrugging his shoulders. "I think you can figure the usual lines out right, son? You break her heart, I break you...or more, I encourge my little girl to break you, and she does love her dad!"

Sunny herself? She squirms and puts her head in her hands like many a girl who'd brought a boy home before the man gives a laugh and a kiss to his wife.

The man stands, a little movement to the kitchen. "And call me Arnie son, like the movie star...only better looking!"

With that declaration made he was out of the room, leaving Billy, Sunny and her mother in the lounge.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson keeps smiling. This is not over yet. Not by far. It was merely the first series of tests. The hero faces many tests in his...

Okay forget Campbell. It looks like Sunny just found her kryptonite: parentium. He puts his hands between her shoulders and leans close to stage whisper, "Don't do it. I'm a slow healer," in her ear. He also figures Shazam will get a work out on their next training mission. Also you need to be invulnerable to really have knots of tension in your back, poor thing!

Sunny Harlow has posed:
His response recieved from Sunny? She moves to push him with a hand, gentle but clearly embarrassed motion. Making to stand, she makes to stretch out and look hastily between her mother and her boyfriend. "I'm going to help dad get the pizza."

What an escape!

Billy Batson has posed:
"You coward!" is what Billy wants to say. Laving him with a woman who could probably give Hera a run for her money. Zeus doesn't agree but indicates Dr. Harlow and Hera could certainly do tea and cookies together. You'd think ONE f those guys in his head could throw him a line? Wisdom of Solomon say? Solomon thinks what Billy really needs is a bullshit artist and Odysseus never made the cut.

He gets a wash of sympathy for Sunny before she's out of sight. It is not easy watching your brave and beautiful girlfriend reduced to a scared child.

"Sunny told me how you and Mr. H. took her in. That was very generous and brave of you. I'm a foster child myself... at least for the next few months. I found a real family, luckily."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Dr Christine Harlow certainly seemed a nice enough woman, but then who knows what she'd be capable of in Hera's circumstances? Instead she she sips her coffee in her hand before nodding, stretching out a little as they waited. "My husband and I aren't religious, but we had hoped for a child of our own. He's a school teacher, don't let his size fool you. I've been helping people in need in my job since I was barely older than Sunny is now. I don't think we could imagine doing anything else."

A pause, she tilts her head to the side. Maybe that's where Sunny got that particular quirk from?

"Of course, she's had a lot of friends. She's a magnetic girl after all, but she's never told anyone where she came from before."

A laugh from the kitchen in that moment suggested that whatever discussion was occuring between Sunny and Arnold was setting her at ease.

As for the mention of his age? It seems to be left untouched.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson nods. He just ducked a landmine. "Well teachers and doctors are real heroes. So she has two good role models. She is magnetic for sure. I don't know what she saw in me. But I'll take it." She saw he was six-two, built like a god, and had her powers and more. Then she somehow saw no difference between Shazam and Billy. Aaaaand those pizzas have been ten minutes away for what seems like hours. If you. "I don't have a lot of friends, despite being outgoing. I mean I do have followers for my podcast -Station Whiz. I'm setting it up to make me some money to pay back my foster parents for what they did for me... somehow. I talk about super humans and the issues they raise for young people. Mutant powers, technology spin offs, like that. I got an interview with Spider-Man that has a million hits."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Relief and rescue, Sunny comes in with the pizza supported on her tray without the mits most people would need. At least she could be casual about her abilities around her folks. Setting it down while her father puts out plates she starts to serve out the slices. With the tray empty she moves to set it down before making to settle down on the couch next to Billy again.

"So, everything okay?" she asks lightly before lifting a slice to her mouth.

OF course, it was her mother that nods, chuckling a little. "Billy was telling me about his podcast..."

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson waits for the elder Harlows to eat before helping himself. He gives the first slice he takes to Sunny. "Everything is okay. Uhm, did you happen to hear the weather for today, Sunny? Is it going to storm at all or stay clear?" Small smile. Let him wow them. Shazam has that effect. He leaves it up to her.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"I think it'll be calm, y'know? Nice weather for a quick lunch." Her best attempt at an answer, especially with a mouthful of pizza. Of course, her parents were both smart enough to figure there was something passing between the pair, but there was the whole thing about allowing her a little bit of privacy.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson nods. "Good weather for flying then," he replies. He definitely needs a flight at some point. "So Mr.... Arnie, what grades do you teach?" For all Arnie giving him that weird variation of the standard threat, he finds him a little more friendly. Or less scary? He also feels he would break Billy in half and not outsource it t his daughter, the Muffin of Steel.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
As Arnie starts talking about his work, his teaching of primary school and younger grades, Sunny did finish her meal when a small beep comes from Sunny's mother's phone and her face falls, a frown on her features. "I'm being called in, there's a-"

"Fire across town at one of the factories," Sunny finishes, her own phone in her hand as she hastily wipes her hand on her jeans and starts to stand. There's a moment, a glance to Billy and then to her parents before she bites her bottom lip. "Do you still have my spare-"

"It's in your room sweetheart," Arnold Harlow answers, chuckling lightly. "But you never did replace the cape. Stay safe out there. I'll clean up."

"Thanks daddy!" she offers, a kiss to the grown man's cheek and a hug to her mother before Sunny was running upstairs to her childhood room. Christine herself was throwing on her coat, gathering up her keys and kissing her husband. "See you tonight!"

"Go save lives,"

And with that and a whoosh from upstairs, Sunny was clearly zipping out the window in what appeared to be an early version of one of her costumes, sans cape.

Left to make his own decisions about himself, Billy would find Arnold gathering up his wife and daughter's plates. "Well, more muffins for us, right Billy?"
