Personality

Curious:
Billy is drawn by his sense of wanting to know bordering on a need. An urge to peek under rocks, behind corners and dig into things that he considers to be a mystery to himself. It has the potential to let him someday become a journalist of some talent, or a particularly troublesome whistleblower if he ends up in either politics or corporate life. Often poking his nose where it doesn't belong in an effort to uncover the truth of things.

Friendly:
Despite all of the trouble of his short life, beneath some of the bitterness and disappointment that he has suffered, Billy is an altruistic person who was revealed to himself as such by the Vasquezes and Freddy. Pushing people away is his last thought, feeling it better to try and surround himself by friends and knowing how one can hurt while alone - reaching out to others who he feels suffer as he once did.

Gentle:
As Billy and Shazam are truly the same person, they are both gentle people who would prefer to solve issues peacefully, straining to solve problems with rational action and leaving violence to the last possible resort. A man or woman who spits in either's face will be forgiven, attempted to be reasoned with and may even get the last word in when Billy or Shazaam turns to leave if they're not a criminal or villain trying to hurt people. But their car might end up folded in half and stuck in a haul-away dumpster.

Kid At Heart:
Naive, late bloomer, Billy is a kid who is focused on the aspects of his alter ego in addition to understanding who he is where he might see himself in the future. A young man who doesn't see much in women other than a source of confusion and, more often, frustration. In the form of Shazam he finds himself more uniquely interested, but women are such a bizarre outlier to his life that he finds himself stammering, disarmed and even vulnerable because he has no idea how to talk to them as anything other than a hormonal teenager.

Pure:
Billy and ultimately Shazam (his most perfect self) are heroes above and beyond what he thinks of himself. Age has not jaded him, adult concerns have not sanded away true altruism and eroded it to self-conscious doubt and the need to succeed for himself. Others come first; even when homeless and scavenging he would share with others who were hungry, even if it meant he would remain so. He has broken the law to help others, because he cannot turn his back on the helpless or suffering.

Character Sheet

Powers

Shazam:
Saying 'SHAZAM' gifts Billy with the power sets of seven divine beings. A bolt of lightning out of the blue transforms the boy into a perfect human specimen, in his late 20's. Billy has been able to share his powers with those close to him (like his foster sibs). They must be together and speak the word together. The lightning bolt is extremely hard to stop. Stopping it is a very bad idea as it will blast through most Earthly barriers. As a minor note, Billy must focus and say Shazam with power and conviction. Simply introducing himself does not trigger the lightning. The lightning blast itself can be very disorienting and blind people momentarily.

The 'a':
Atlas contributes his stamina. Shazam can exert his full strength indefinitely without tiring. He also has a high degree of durability. Conventional weapons and mid level supers might stun or disorient him but do no lasting harm. He is immune to normal chemical, biological and radioactive hazards. he has less endurance against magical attacks but still resists most. He also can hold his breath for several hours, even in vacuum.

The 'h':
'H' is for Hercules and the gift is strength. Shazam can demolish earthly barriers and slug it out with the heavy hitters. His upper strength is unknown but he could probably hold off Superman at the very least and might win on a good day.

The 'm':
Speed of /M/ercury rounds out Shazam's abilities. The speed of Mercury allows Captain Marvel to fly up to the speed of light. It lets him access the Rock of Eternity and its portals to numerous worlds and realities. On a more mundane note, the he can also catch bullets, duck laser beams and not look too bad racing the Flash (he'd probably still lose.)

The 's':
'S' stands for King Solomon (okay, so he isn't divine) and gifts him with the king's wisdom. In practice this makes the champion very resistant to mental domination (whether telepathic or magical). It also gives Shazam the ability to detect magical forces at work and sometimes see through illusions. Practically it lets a 15 year old boy pass himself off as an adult (most of the time see Personality: Kid at Heart). It also gives him basic knowledge of occult languages and signs.

The 'z':
'Z' is for Zeus. the power of Zeus is what generates the lightning that transforms Billy and Shazam. Shazam can generate and throw lightning bolts of great destructive potential. His fine control is a little lacking. Sometimes he can charge a phone or tablet, sometimes he melts it.

The Other 'a':
'A' for Achilles. Achilles gives Captain Marvel his courage, not his invulnerability (which comes from Atlas). The courage of Achilles lets Captain Marvel face cosmic horrors and fear generating magics and still function. Flying to the Rock of Eternity is a mind bending experience and courage helps here.

Skills

Mythologist:
His parents were archaeologists. their son read about myths when he could (especially after his origin). Billy knows a fair amount about gods and goddesses.

Nimble:
Billy is exceptionally wiry, able to wiggle into odd spots and hide or worm his way out of ropes (and gags!)

Podcaster:
Billy has the technical know how to run a website and post podcasts he does with Freddy.

Thief:
Billy is an almost professional level thief. He can pick locks, hotwire and steal cars and lift a wallet or phone from a person. This is due to his time on the streets. Most of these skills are not in use as the Champion of Life (he can knock in doors and throw cars, but you never know).

Resources

Laptop:
Billy shares a decent laptop with Fredd purchased with podcast earnings, capable of video editing as well as recording through its microphone and webcam suite.

Phone:
Billy has a low-cost month to month service phone funded mostly by his podcast. It's not top of the line but it has decent recording capabilities, letting him use it as a camera and microphone for 'field' investigations for his podcast.

Rock of Eternity:
Shazam can fly to or be teleported to the Rock of Eternity. The caverns in this huge mountain seem to be endless and open on other realities. Its true functions and powers are not completely known.

Weaknesses

Alter Ego:
As Billy Batson Shazam is as normal as any other human being of his age. He's skinny, not very tough and likely couldn't even be the kicker for JV Football. Not that he could even really succeed in trying out for football. Track maybe, running is more his speed. In order to become Shazam he must speak the word with purpose and force. Gagging him or even a solid punch stopping him from speaking can keep him from transforming.

Women:
He's just a kid, a hormonal and middle teenage boy - while he is recreated as his perfect self when he becomes Shazam, he's still just a kid. Women are a mystery and with all of the normal mindset of a man in his late twenties blended with a young man of 15 he ends up looking like a dope around women, relying on the Wisdom of Soloman to navigate social situations, or help him find an escape to get out of the danger zone.
