Daisy Johnson's Secret Mission
Date of Scene: 15 November 2022
Location: Private Cabin A1
Synopsis: Daisy gets sent on a mission unlike any she has partaken for SHIELD before.
Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Daisy Johnson

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The Triskelion feels much like a normal corporate office building sometimes. People arriving for work in the morning. Cars pulling into the parking garage one after another. The doors constantly opening as people cross the atrium, carrying their cups of coffee or biting into a donut or Danish through security, then rushing to catch the elevator before the doors close.

Though the sight of a Quinjet coming in for a landing on the nearby airfield isn't quite the view that most Fortune 500 companies have.

Today the ride in to the Triskelion encountered a bit of traffic. An overturned semi on the interstate that had been hauling chickens of all things. The fowl had completely fowled up traffic as police officers tried to show them back towards where they could be put in the cages that weren't busted open.

But Daisy had made it eventually. Though as she was still making her way into the building, her phone chimed. One of those tones that indicates it is encrypted, and from someone she should check the message right away, Peggy Carter. The message is simple enough, "Report to my office ASAP."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Darn it! It had been clear fowl play, as if the universe conspired to have her come late to work (AGAIN!). Somedays she wishes she had just stayed a hacker, with her own hours, one hack at a time. Plucking all the secrets out of SHIELD like a criminal and --- Ahem.. Enough daydreaming!

Because she is just about to miss the elevator ride up. "Hodor!" she exclaims at Davis when the other Agent steps into the elevator, still far enough. It was that codeword for "HOLD THE DOOR!" that Daisy often used when arriving late to work.

But today? No luck... That message calls her attention away and she looks down at it. Peggy Carter?

"Better luck next time, Johnson." Davis is still waving as the door closes and Daisy just sighs. But this was important. So she'd better go meet her.

She finds another elevator up and steps in, the floor numbers lighting up on the display screen of the elevator as she continues going high, almost to the top of the tower. She steps out and looks around before approachinge Chief Carter's door and knocks. "Can I come in? It's Daisy."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Daisy, yes come in," comes Peggy's familiar English accent and clipped tone. She's over at a row of drawers, putting some paperwork in them and locking it as she shuts it, then returning over to her seat. She has a nice view out the window behind her desk. Westchester is gorgeous this time of year though a lot of the leaves have already fallen, and indeed further to the north they got quite a bit of snow over the last two days. Though the snow squalls didn't extend this far south.

Peggy opens a desk drawer and says, "I have a mission for you. Sorry for springing this on you, but it's likely to keep you away for a few days," she says. She hands over the packet, which is extremely thin compared to a normal SHIELD briefing.

"You're to report up to Sugarloaf," Peggy says, naming a very well known ski resort in Maine. "Your contact will be checked in by the time you arrive," she says. The packet has the address of a ski chalet at the resort. "They will fill you in on the rest of the mission. Things are being sent on ahead for you. You'll likely have to portray a couple while there. I hope that won't be a problem for you?" Peggy asks, knowing Daisy is seriously involved with someone.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
At Peggy telling her to come in the door finally opens. One head sticks in, then the rest of Daisy. A smile. She closes the door behind her. "Hello, Chief." she offers a greeting, brushing her hands over her uniform in that self-conscious manner of someone that knows she was coming to work almost at a run. And not paying attention to how presentable she was! Does it matter though? Most likely not..

She walks to the table, reaching to take that thin dossier. Very unusual. She opens it.

"Sugarloaf? That's ..." a beat, "Isn't that a ski resort?" not exactly where she expected a mission to be at. But hey! And there's an actual chalet? Well, she is liking this a lot more now.

At least until the part she says she has to portray a couple. "Won't be a problem." she is a spy after all. Certainly not Natasha's level but she's close to a senior agent. "Alright, I will get a move on. My contact will have the details won't they?" she steps back to the door, perhaps understanding the urgency of the mission and waits to be dismissed.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Peggy nods in response to Daisy's question. "Yes, they'll have everything else you need," she tells Daisy. "Be safe, Daisy," she says, Peggy rising to her feet and waiting for Daisy to leave.

Once she has, Peggy goes over to look out her window. It isn't often she gets a chance to send an agent on a mission like this. A smile spreads slowly across her face as she gazes out at the autumn scenery.

A plane is waiting to fly Daisy up closer to the resort, and then a rented car to drive her the rest of the way from there.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Now this was a strange mission briefing. Is Daisy thinking not all is well? But who knows with all the spy games that happen at SHIELD? It's still a mission, delivered by the Chief herself so she would treat it with the top priority that it deserves. She's at least glad she has some clothes here at SHIELD that aren't just her uniform so once she goes down to her quarters and gets changed she is ready to go.

Pair of jeans, warm sweater. Boots. A nice fluffy jacket and of course the beanie hat. Inside her bag goes her usual equipment. The uniform, a laptop along with some tech pieces in case she needs to infiltrate a place. A ICER. Yep, she was ready!

She gets onto that plane after sending a message to Matt. < Going to have to spend a few days out on a mission. I will let you know when it's done. Might have to go radio silent. >

The plane lands and now that she is inside the car leading her to the resort there's that little excitement starting to grow. She hadn't really been on these kind of fancy resorts before. Might as well enjoy it. Even if she would had preferred to be here with Matt. But who knows, depending on how good it was perhaps they would take a vacation here!

Matthew Murdock has posed:
A text comes back from Matt while the plane is taking off: Ok, be safe. Love you.

The plane lifts into the sky, grey clouds overhead to the north where the weather has been colder and more inclement. Even at subsonic speeds, the trip to Maine does not take that long. Daisy can see the mountains with the ski slopes in the distance, though the plane sets down at a remote location where the car is waiting for her.

The drive takes longer than the flight had. The black sedan heading up the winding roads, climbing higher. Outside there's a good foot of snow on the ground, and the sky is still cloudy, though the weather report she accessed on the plane expects clearer weather, if below freezing, for the coming week.

The car passes through town, the streets lined with boutiques, bars, night clubs, restaurants, candy shops, and just about anything else that visitors to a resort might find appealing. The resort and ski hills are the lifeblood of the community.

The resort itself has a large central building that has a restaurant and dance room in it for the guests. There are public hot tubs, and of course the ski rentals and other parts of the business. A row of rooms extends out on one wing. Though a lot of cabins and chalets dot the mountainside, some visible, others just their roofs peeking out from behind stands of trees. Everywhere the snow is white and pure looking, a fresh snowfall just that morning making every thing pristine.

The car pulls up a ski chalet tucked back in some trees. It's an A-frame, two story, with a balcony going around part of the upper level. Just visible on the backside where it would be looking down the mountain can be seen another deck, and what looks like the edges of a hot tub. There's a bit of smoke coming out of the chimney.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Taking the tourist sights it seems. Not that Daisy minds! She grins all the way through the ride, speaking to the driver. "Man, I think I am gonna love these vacations!" all to keep that cover. But she might even enjoy it.

Of course that she thinking she might be playing couple to another Agent? She tries not to think too much about that. Who knows? Maybe it will even be someone she knows. Just don't make it be Ward, damn it. "Yes, better not be Ward..." she murmurs to herself with a huff.

They are arriving though and Daisy gets out of the car and once the travel case is with her the car leaves. She finds herself looking up at the chalet, eyebrows quirked up. So lush to be honest!

And then her steps are bringing her towards the place, doing a little cursory examination of the grounds.

"Someone seems to be home.." she says about that smoke coming out of the chimney. So she walks forward and ..., knocks.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
It doesn't take long for the door to answer. Almost like the person inside had heard the car's tires crunching on the snow and was already heading to the door.

It swings open, revealing a man. He's of about average height, and seems quite fit. Wearing dark grey jeans and a sweater, he also has on a pair of red-tinted sunglasses that Daisy would find quite familiar. As she does the man himself.

"Hello, Agent Johnson," Matt says in his deep, clipped tones. He is trying to keep a straight face, but doesn't seem capable of it as he gives Daisy the surprise. His lips are quirking up at the corners.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Please don't be Ward. Please don't be Ward. Please don't be Ward.

That's Daisy's mantra when that door is opening up. And she looks up and .... Well, it's not Ward. But it's an even bigger surprise! "Matt!?" she blinks once at him in that kind of disbelieving manner and then ....

Then ....

Suspicion. Oh yes, very much so. And that sharp mind doesn't take long to put two and two together, "Of all the people I didn't think you could had gotten Peggy into it.." she reaches up to take out her beanie hat and takes those few steps that bring her closer to her man, her hands resting on his shoulders, "This your idea of telling me I needed a vacation?" she asks, leaning up to place a kiss on the man's lips. A kiss that deepens as her arms come to wrap around his neck.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock wraps his own arms around Daisy as she leans up for the kiss and presses against him. The brisk cool air chills their cheeks while their lips press in that warm embrace, and Matt holds the woman he loves close. Plenty of warm air escapes the chalet before finally the kiss breaks, and Matt leads Daisy inside, picking up her bag to carry in.

"Actually, it's more the other way around. Though you -do- need a vacation," he says, laughing warmly. "So I got contacted by Peggy Carter and asked to come see her. The conversation that followed had all sorts of phrases like, 'busted op', 'non-refundable deposit', and 'that girl needs a vacation before she turns back to hacking'," Matt tells Daisy. "You know, technical spy lingo that I could barely follow so just nodded a lot," he teases.

Inside the place is just beautiful. It manages to have a rustic feel while also being quite comfortable. A large fireplace dominates the room, with a thick rug before it and beneath couches and a chair and coffee table. A kitchenette is in one corner, and that definitely is a hot tub on the back patio. Stairs lead up to a bedroom beneath the A-frame roof, and another door leads to what is probably a second room.

"So, she sent me up here with SHIELD's blessings to give you the best week off I could. And I looked this place up online. There's no way we'd be here without her," he says. Indeed, he brings home produce and baked goods from Nelson and Murdock as much as he does money.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Once the kiss breaks and she's led inside Daisy finds herself rubbing her hands together. It -is- cold up here. "I was sooort of starting to get suspicious when I noticed we were taking the scenic tour through the city." no she wasn't. Not a super sharp spy this Daisy is.

And of course that Matt can sense the little lie there on her tone. But then he starts talking about how it all happened and there's a flush to her features. It was the Chief herself?! "Look ..., it's not my fault those servers weren't insured. Honest mistake..." but heh, she just lifts her hands up in surrender.

Attention does go to their surroundings though, taking in the sights. It's the balcony she goes to first, looking outside for a few moments. "It's beautiful.." but she manages to explore a little, all the way to the kitchen, then out. A grin when she notes the fireplace. "I always dreamed of a house with a fireplace.." she admits. It's almost as if she's a kid opening christmas gifts, her eyes alight.

"SHIELD paying it ...? Oh.. I will withdraw my application to Hydra then ..." She jokes, stepping closer to Matt once she is satisfied with looking around the house.

"We will make it the best week yet then." she says in tone of promise.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock follows a few steps behind, letting Daisy explore the place at her own pace. The view out the back is fantastic, the trees having just a big enough gap for a view down the white mountainside at the valley below.

"There's a central lodge that has a restaurant, dancing, live music," he tells her. "It varies from night to night. The person who drove me up said the Christmas decorations are up already too. Supposed to be pretty spectacular looking," Matt shares.

"I figure if we leave from here directly and go up the slow, I could even ski with you if you wanted to. Just have to make sure not to make any friends on the slope who might see me elsewhere with my cane," says the blind man who doesn't really need the cane, but who is quite committed to keeping that as part of his secret identity.

Matt moves up behind Daisy, arms going about her waist as he hugs her from behind and rests his chin against her shoulder as she stands by the fire. "We can keep a fire going all week," he says. "Sorry that the loft doesn't have one. Though I keep wondering when that neon sign across the street is going to drive you crazy." He of course keeps the drapes closed at home for her, unless she wants them open.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Hands come to rest atop Matt's when he moves behind her and hugs Daisy from behind. She grins up at him, head turning so she can place a smooch on his cheek. "Well ..., there may be a reason on why that neon sign sometimes isn't working.." she confesses, biting on her lower lip. Look, a girl isn't made of steel! She has weaknesses. And that damn sign can be annoying sometimes! She does laugh afterward though.

"Damn right we will be skiing.." she assures Matt. "No way around it. Those big goggles will hide anything else and ...., I am a spy! I can make it work. I will consider it my mission." she bumping her hip back against Matt.

"Fireplace does sound awesome... I think I know where I will be sleeping tonight..." by the fire?!

"I am glad we will get some time for us now.." She finally turning in his embrace to rest her head against his chest, relaxed.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock draws in Daisy's scent, nuzzling his nose and lips into her hair and pressing a kiss there. His arms hold her close and he lets out a happy sigh as she snuggles in to embrace him.

"I couldn't have afforded it without that sign, that's for sure. But I'm not going to begrudge you a little hack of it helps you sleep," he tells her, chuckling quietly. "I sure wouldn't have been able to afford bringing you somewhere like this. Definitely need to send Peggy some kind of a thank you," he tells her.

Thank goodness it was Peggy, too. If it was Nick Fury there would have likely been strings attached.

Matt brushes his fingers through Daisy's hair. "We've got food, beer, wine, spirits. Though we can go into town for dinner. Brought a lot of your things up so hopefully didn't forget anything you'd want. We have clothes we can wear out at night, or dancing. Peggy provided the ski passes as well," he says, "Though I suspect maybe she handled that herself."
