Date of Scene: 22 November 2022

Synopsis: Veira surprises Jan for his birthday!
Cast of Characters: Veira Lazarescu, Jan de Wit

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira had been sneaky and was actually not at work today. Because she figured that Jan's birthday was far more important than anything meetings would put forward today. She had snuck back in before dinner time with a cake box, Jan's favorite take-out and a few wrapped boxes. Expecting him to either be out or upstairs practicing. The Goth had also dressed in purple and black velvet today. Mixing their favorite colors together.

"Jan?" she calls out. Checking to see if her man is indeed home or not as she settles the cake box down on the counter in the kitchen and settles other things down.

Jan de Wit has posed:
His birthday wasn't something he'd really celebrated with any regularity. Sometimes the dance cast would throw a party, sometimes he'd go out to dinner to enjoy himself. Nothing super fancy, oddly enough. Today, he was practicing most of the day in the dance studio at the manor. He hadn't noticed that she stayed home, wrapped up in his dance as he was.

When she called out his name, he looked over at the door and paused the music. "Are you home from work?" He grins, grabbing a towel and heading towards the direction of her voice. Wiping off most of his perspiration, smiles at her upon entering the kitchen. "How was work?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira's made quick work of unboxing and setting things over on the dining table for the birthday boy. She might have used a tiny bit of magic, but she wasn't really worried on that. It didn't take much energy. She comes back to the kitchen right before he enters. There is a smile, "Happy birthday." she tells him.

"I took the day off, just had some errands to run before coming home with things for you." she admits. There are candles lit in the dining room which he can see from where he stands. "I wasn't sure if you'd want to go out so I picked up your favorite take out. And luckily your cake was done on time." she grins. "I got you a few presents as well." she tells him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Of course she'd have known about his birthday - still, it was a pleasant surprise! Jan looks happy at the greeting and the mention of dinner and cake. "You didn't have to, but thank you love." Jan smiles, sneaking in a kiss to her. "You look fantastic, as well. I should rinse off? I don't want to be gross in enjoying dinner with you." A wry grin.

Assuming no objections, he scoots off to quickly shower and dress. Returning in slacks and a nice purple shirt, he grins at the dining room. "You went all out." He looks to her. "Thank you again, Veira."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a grin, "If I had not done anything for your birthday it would have been very unfiancee like." she tells him. "That and I love you and I want you to know that you are loved, Jan." she tells him softly. The kiss is returned and she smiles softly to him, "Thank you, figured a little dressing up wasn't going to hurt." she winks at him. "Go shower. I'll get plates ready and things." she tells him as she moves to find plates.

When he returns, she's seated at the table and plates are being dished out along with drinks having been poured. "I think doing something for birthdays is fun. Whether it's small or not." she smiles to him. "You don't have to thank me, love." she smiles to him. "Although my birthday is so close to Christmas that you have a pass." she muses.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Jan clucks his tongue. "I do not have a pass. Your birthday is your day, we will celebrate it." He assures, finding a seat at the table. "This looks amazing, thank you again love." He chuckles, tucking a napkin in his lap. "Did you not go to work today?" He wonders, looking over the meal to be had.

"I am not opposed to elebrating the birthday, it just was not something I made a thing of when alone." He admits, looking over to her. "So, dinner, presents... this is lovely." A laugh. "Sit with me and eat?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives him a soft smile to that, "I mean, it is the Solstice, so it's fine." she tells him. "it was no trouble. I felt that your favorite dinner and your favorite cake would be a nice little pick me up after the last month." she tells him. There is a shake of her head, "No, I took it off. But spent most of the day picking up things." she admits.

"Well, you aren't alone anymore and neither am I. So maybe celebrating will come easier?" she offers. She does take the seat across from him when things are done. "Of course, I just wanted to make sure everything was settled." she smiles to him. "My parents invited us to Thanksgiving if you'd like to go?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Again, he looks over to her and smiles. "You are too kind to me." He says, with a chuckle. "Yes, being together will make it more important to celebrate these milestones." Jan agrees, taking in a deep breath to enjoy the aroma of the meal. "I owe you a day, then." He waggles his brows.

"I would love to go visit your parents for Thanksgiving. Should we bring food with us?" He wonders, taking a bite and enjoying the feast she's prepared for him.

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a smile to him, "If I were a tyrant I think you'd like me less." she tells him. "You do not owe me a day. I have more than enough vacation time and we aren't losing money." she tells him. She raises her glass to her lips and takes a drink of the wine that she'd poured.

"I think I might cook a side and a dessert, but other than that they just would like us there." she tells him with a soft smile. "Is there anything that you would like to take or anything that you enjoy with the holiday?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Jan gives a good-natured laugh, the man shaking his head. "I don't think either of us would be fond of a tyrant." A smirk. "Aside from Atilla, that is." There is a nod of agreement. "Indeed, money is not an issue, thank goodness."

As she asks after what he might want to bring, he thinks. "Perhaps a nice bottle of wine? We don't really do Thanksgiving in Amsterdam." A tap to his chin. "They do in Leiden, but that's for the Americans."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a soft chuckle, "Depends on if the tyrant is really hot." she teases him. "If they looked like you I might overlook it." she winks at him. "And Atilla is at least a fair tyrant." she grins at that. Then she gives a nod to him, "Very true on the money part." she muses.

"I think they'd love a nice bottle of wine." she admits to that. "Well, is this your first time at a Thanksgiving dinner? If so...you're going to be really full." she tells him. "I'm not really American, but my parents thought that integrating me into the holidays was one of the best ways to have me settle...and honestly it can be fun sometimes." the Romanian muses.

Jan de Wit has posed:
"Very fair." He agrees. "And I suppose you would be a tyrant I'd accept, yes." A wink to her, Jan chuckling - amused at it all. "And Atilla is fair, and easily bribed." Dinner was delicious, Jan eating it all and cleaning his plate.

"I've been to a couple Thanksgiving dinners - just never one with future family." He admits, with a dab of his napkin to his lips. "Fair. I think you acclimated better than I, in some aspects." A wink to her. "A good bottle of wine, then. Perhaps a dessert as well?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a soft laugh, "Mmm. I'd probably not be a tyrant to you in any cases." she grins to that. "He is very easily bribed, yes." she chuckles. He knew how to get things from them if he wanted. Little devil. She'd quieted to eat dinner as well and making sure that things tasted perfect.

"It's not going to be weird having a mother-in-law and things is it?" she asks him. "My parents are about 25 years older than me, they were pretty young when they started my adoption process." she admits. She then nods, "Yes, dessert and my mom requested a side that I usually make." she smiles.

Jan de Wit has posed:
The dinner was excellent! "Not even with a leather get up?" Jan teases her. "It is wonderful to be under the thumb of one who can be bribed with chicken nuggets." There's a happy laugh at that. "That was delicious, Veira." He offers, a nod of thanks to her.

"It will be different? Not odd, I suppose. But it will take some getting used to." Jan admits. "Do you think they will like me?" He asks, smiling over to her. "What dessert are you making, then?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
"I mean, I prefer latex over leather, but if it gets you riled up I'll slap on some leather sometime." Veira teases him with a wink of her good eye. "He'll be easier to bribe than most children." she chuckles at that. "I'm glad that the dinner worked out well." she looks happy about that.

"I think they will like you a lot, Jan. I talk to my mom about you all the time." she grins at that. "I'm going to go easy for Thanksgiving and just make Romanian chocolate cake. I'll make Cozonac for Christmas though." she tells him. "There's a lot of good desserts from back home." she admits.

Jan de Wit has posed:
A wink. "I like the scent of leather." Jan admits. A nod about Atilla. "He will. He'll make an excellent older brother, though. He's very good with the pups." He chuckles.

The dessert was just as good as the dinner, the two speaking until late in the evening - discussing plans of meeting family, celebrating holidays, and making sure to celebrate their birthdays together. It's a thing - something they will both work at, to the betterment of themselves.
