Veira Lazarescu is better known as Agent Lazarus within SHIELD and WAND. Her daytime job is working in Homeland Security and identifying terrorist activity and other brands of threats against the United States. In WAND she is a rather quirky agent that seems to be able to ressurect herself if she dies. Hence why she has the moniker of Agent Lazarus. She tends to work well with others and is a wealth of knowledge in the realms of the Fae, Dragons and Blood Magic. Yes, black is her favorite color. No, don't ask how she lost her eye unless you want a gore filled tale.

Timeline

Timeline:
1979: Born in Hunedoara, Romania to impoverished parents that were unmarried. The father doesn't believe that Veira is his after finding out about a one night stand that the mother had.
1986: Parents were found brutally murdered by something otherworldly. Veira was not at the scene when authorities were called.
1986: She was found wandering the Hunedoara Forest days after covered in blood, but seemed to be fine physically and mentally.
1987: Attempts to place her with relatives lead to no takers given the nature of her parents death and her superstitious extended family believing she was 'cursed'.
1987: SHIELD agents, Myles Van Kann and Jozefina Van Kann agreed to foster the child given her circumstances.
1988: Starts to show a strong tie to Blood Magic after an incident at school where a bully bloodied her lip and then found themselves across the school yard. They were not injured badly.
1989: June - Reports indicate that the family was sitting down to dinner where she proceeded to stab her left eye out with her butter knife.
1989: July - Doctors were not able to save her eye, but they did discover that Veira had been hearing voices prior to the taking of her eye.
1990: January - Veira starts therapy for recovering from her eye being lost and mental stability.
1990: Jozefina finds a tutor for Veira's magic so that they can help her get it under control before it spirals into a bad situation.
1991: The Van Kann family officially adopts Veira.
1993: Veira starts martial arts training with her father to help with training of her senses as well as teaching her discipline.
1994: June - Finds the family cat dead after school, after an emotional outburst of magic the cat comes back to life. Tiny freak out ensues from parents.
1994: Enters public high school with assurance from her therapist that she shouldn't have any episodes with her temper and magic.
1997: July - Jozefina and Myles are approached by a man that claims to be Veira's father. A member of the Unseelie Court. Her adopted parents are not thrilled with this news and do not share it with /their/ daughter.
1998: Does not immediately go to college, but takes a few years to travel, study with other magic users and live abroad.
1998: August - Meets Atilla in the Carpathian Mountains after taking a tunnel in a cave she shouldn't have. Atilla is a dragon. This was a surprise for both dragon and person.
2000: Veira is recruited into W.A.N.D.
2001: Starts attending St. John's University in Queens for Homeland Security.
2005: May - Graduated college and starts to study exfil (extraction) to help cover some gaps within W.A.N.D.
2005: July - Dies in a freak accident on a SHIELD/Wand Op.
2005: August - Myles and Jozefina are alerted that Veira's grave is empty. The girl shows up at SHIELD with a very weird story.
2006: February - Veira is cleared to go back into the field.
2006: March - Veira starts noticing that her magic is effecting plants now. Helping them to grow and other various things.
2008: Still continuing to study and use Blood Magic and her plant magics.
2008: June - Finds an owl that was hit by a car on her way home, rigor hadn't set in yet. Veira was able to bring it back to life. Stunning both her AND the owl who clawed her face open before flying off.
2010: Continues to work with smaller creatures and seeing if she can bring them back to life. Something she'd not told her parents or boyfriend. Just her magical mentors.
2018: Loki's attack on New York takes place. Mirek, her fiance and SHIELD agent, is killed when rubble caved in. She is gravely injured but manages to bring the man back to life for a few precious moments before they both died.
2019: Requests to take time off to heal from Mirek's death.
2020: Returns to work with WAND.
2021: Late September - Dies on a W.A.N.D mission and is unable to be brought back, due to the death gods infighting.
2021: November - Her body is moved back to the Triskelion and she revives just in time for Thanksgiving.

Personality

Disciplined:
Veira has learned over the years how to control herself and how keeping calm and logical in situations is a benefit to her teams and to those around her. She uses the discipline that she's learned via martial arts and dance to bolster this. Meaning she is hard to move if she is going to be doing something that involves giving up the discipline.

Humorous:
Veira is known for trying to make a dark situation lighter with jokes. They may get her eyed by others, but most times it can make things go smoother when tensions flare. She is not afraid to use herself as the butt of a joke either!

Magnanimous:
Veira has proven to be very forgiving of situations and she doesn't hold grudges as she's been told by her parents that it just eats at the one that holds it and not the one that it is directed towards. She's been fairly forgiving of the villains they've come across in their SHIELD projects as well.

Blood Magic:
Veira has had the ability to use Blood Magic for most of her life, she has grown into over the years and has become exceptionally skilled at it, but she hasn't mastered it. She uses magic for defensive and offensive purposes, being able to shield, attack and do various other things with it. Veira is able to heal others with her magics, but some people get squeamish with being marked with blood.

Over the years her Blood Magic has started to work on plants, granting her a magical green thumb with her blood being able to fuel the regrowth of plants that have not been able to be seeded due to the climate or other issues. She loves plants, so this has been a bonus in her life.

Immortality:
The first time Veira died she stopped aging as well. As far as they know she is Immortal given her 'Lazarus' like effects to return from death. WAND agents have helped over the years with information on long lived entities and others and termed her as Immortal for the moment. They might uncover something different in the future, but nothing else has come up.

Rebirth:
Unknown to Veira is that she is an Avatar of Morana, a pagan Slavic goddess associated with seasonal rites based on the idea of death and rebirth of nature. She is an ancient goddess associated with winter's death, rebirth and dreams. Veira's birth parents sacrificed her to Morana in an attempt to bring favor to themselves and ended up being slaughtered by the Goddess. She then returned life to the child and set her on the path she walks now and the magic that she does. She is able to return to life if she dies, but it takes seven days to come back from it. It is not a speedy process. Veira has never spoken on where her ghost or soul goes during this either.

Veira has been able to use the power of Rebirth with small animals like birds, rabbits and things of that nature to bring freshly dead things back from the dead while healing what killed them. She tried to use this power when her fiance was killed, but it only brought him back for a few moments. So she's not tried to do it again given the trauma.

Diplomacy:
Sometimes having to deal with extracting or dealing with situations that cross over into other areas of the government means that you have to know who to talk to and how to talk to them. Veira's skilled in Diplomacy, mainly when it comes to communications between different departments and when there is a threat to an area and people need to be moved. She has had diplomacy fail before, but it is something she learns from even now.

Extraction Operator:
Veira is trained in many extraction/exfil techniques to get agents and others out of situations before they go badly. She has been an operator for several W.A.N.D and S.H.I.E.L.D operations to remove people from situations and she's not lost a charge or agent yet. Which might be the best record she holds at the moment.

Firearms:
Veira has had SHIELD training and private training in the realms of Firearms such as pistols and shotguns. She's never tried anything like an assault rifle given her job consists of needing to be out before the fighting starts she doesn't tend to carry clunky guns and prefers to do exfil with small pistols and knives due to close quarters fighting that happens a lot of the time.

Homeland Security:
Veira went to St. John's University (Queens) where she obtained her Bachelor's in Homeland Security. The Bachelor of Science degree in Homeland Security is designed to provide a professional dimension for the managerial and technological phases of homeland and organizational security. Students cover a diverse curriculum, including topics such as terrorism, asset and facility protection, intelligence and investigation, issues in global security, and border protection. Veira was able to concentrate in Emergency Management.

Intelligence Gathering:
Veira learned Intelligence Gathering in college as well as from her time with SHIELD and it's sister branch of WAND. She is meticulous when it comes to this and knows that if you get the wrong information that it can spell doom for yourself or your whole team if things aren't done correctly.

Martial Arts:
Veira is trained in a few styles of Martial Arts.

Systema: She carries a black belt in this martial art which encompass' much more than just hand to hand combat. It also includes knife fighting and firearms. Her father thought that teaching it to her given her missing eye that she'd be more comfortable in it. Systema is a military martial arts system that was developed from Cossack fighting to be used by the KGB and counter terrorism groups of Russian special forces (i.e. Spetsnaz). It concentrates on things such as self-protection (i.e. against knife, club or gun), grappling, and weapons training as well as personal wellness. Systema students train for real-life combat situations and the potential to defend against multiple armed opponents.

Krav Maga: She carries a Blue Belt in this martial art. Krav Maga is an eclectic martial arts style from Israel focused on winning in 'real life' combat situations. It uses strikes, kicks, grappling and many other self-defense techniques. Krav Maga was developed to finish a fight as quickly as possible and therefore all attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body (i.e. groin).

Knife Fighting: She specializes in Systema Spetsnaz knife fighting. When she started out with live knives though she did cut her hands open a few times. She's worked on it over the years to become very good at it.

Occult Knowledge:
WAND has given her a wealth of information on the Occult, but she has also added knowledge to the WAND library when it comes to Slavic folklore and other types from other countries that they were lacking on. Veira has dealt with many situations where they needed to do research and gather intelligence and she relied on her schooling to help with it.

Plant Care:
Not a SHIELD skill, but a personal skill. She's been taking care of plants and gardens as part of therapy since high school. She keeps a small balcony garden at her apartment and has plants in her office. She's done a lot of reading on plants and how to care for them over the years.

Subterfuge:
Veira has had to learn how to keep things under wraps when it comes to those that are outside of SHIELD and WAND. She doesn't just tell everyone that she's an agent and she most assuredly tell people that she can come back from death. While it sucks that she has to hide things from friends, it is safer for them to not know what her actual job entails. She become very good at lying and misleading due to this.

Atilla:
Over the years since Veira stumbled across Atilla she's formed a bond with him given their similarities. He's not an ancient dragon, but he's not a whelp either. She's been able to build trust with him over the years, even being told of other dragons that are in slumber around the world. She's not shared this information given they are not threats and she'd rather not be the reason dragons are culled.

Recently after an incident that left him injured the dragon has had to downgrade his size dramatically. He is not able to return to his normal size or he will die, which would break Veira's heart. So for now...or until he feels he wants to die he is the size of a large monitor lizard. He has magical fire that he can breath and lethal claws, horn and tail to use if it ever comes to a fight, but honestly it's not something that is going to break a city. Generally he keeps himself unseeable by other humans unless they are in WAND offices. Then her coworkers get to see him read books and other fantastic feats...like trying to drink coffee or trying to steal her chicken nuggets.

Bs of Homeland Security:
The Homeland Security Program at St. John's University focuses on the protection of the nation's critical infrastructure and populace from terrorism, criminal acts, and natural disasters. With the majority of this infrastructure (energy, transportation, telecommunications, agriculture, etc.) controlled by private industries, an unparalleled working relationship has developed between various levels of government, the private sector, and international partners.

Draconic Knowledge:
A small obsession with Dragons when she was a child grew into something she'd been looking into for most of her life. With her finding of Atilla she's tried to gather as much knowledge on her scaly friend as she could from various countries and lores. She'd done well for herself and has come up with a wealth of knowledge to share with others if a dragon ever pops up, which is not likely to happen unless one wakes up from deep sleeping...or she brings Atilla along.

Fae Knowledge:
Even without knowing about her heritage, Veira has been a fan of fairy tales and things of that nature. She has collected books on the Fae and their realms since she was in high school and continued trying to get ahold of things through out her life. She doesn't have the biggest library on the planet, but she tends to be one of the WAND agents they call when there are concerns with the fairies.

Otherworldy Rapport:
Veira joined WAND when she was in her early 20's. She's dealt with a lot of otherworldly guests and things of that nature in doing this. She has made a point to build a good rapport with the creatures that she can in case things on earth get out of hand and it threatens them as well. She had a good report with the Fae, Troll Market and a one eyed dragon by the name of Atilla who she has grown to know over the last 18 years.

Security Clearance:
Veira has Top Secret security clearance and has worked very hard to keep it. Working in Homeland Security and helping with exfil has been something that she's needed to keep it up for or she'd be jobless.

Shield & Wand:
Being an agent means that Veira has resources from these groups at her disposal, only to a certain extent though. Her government clearance doesn't translate to SHIELD and WAND. She has been a member of the group since she was in her mid-20's as she wanted to continue her adoptive families legacy in the organization. She hopes that she will do them proud even if her mother is already retired and her father is almost there as well.

Anemic:
Veira has become anemic over the years and given her Blood Magic she's had to become careful not to bleed herself out or die of blood loss. It would be extremely awkward to be found dead in a puddle of your own blood since you were careless.

Children:
Veira adores children, but has none of her own given her work. Her heart goes soft if there is a child in need or if there are ones that need saving.

One-Eye:
Veira has lived without her left eye since she was a pre-teen. This has left her with a perception problem that is obvious. But she has trained for years to get over the obstacles and has become pretty competent with using only her one eye.

Survivor's Guilt:
Veira holds a lot of survivors guilt given the things that she has survived and others have not. She holds a lot of guilt over the death of her fiance and that she wasn't strong enough to save him with her powers.

The Voice:
While the voices in Veira's head stopped when she sacrificed her eye so long ago, there is a voice that she hears rarely and it makes her debate if she is completely crazy or not. It's the Goddess Morana, but she's yet to discover this.

Unaging:
She doesn't age, it's becoming something that she can't really hide without some serious FX help. Given people in their 40's might look like they are still in their 20's these days it's not a dire issue, but she's heard people question it before and it makes her worry.
