Once more, with a little more feeling
Date of Scene: 08 December 2022
Location: R and D Labs: Triskelion
Synopsis: Daisy sneaks up on a Fitz packing for a mission to Japan to help set up a relay station.
Cast of Characters: Leopold Fitz, Daisy Johnson

Leopold Fitz has posed:
'Tis the season, right? It's when there is a lull in activity across the globe, and even the bad guys are settling in for the season of Good Cheer?

Not a chance.

With hot spots around the world flaring, it means that those in SHIELD are called upon to meet the danger head on. For some, it's on the ground spying; for others, it's shooty-shooty. But for Dr Leo Fitz? His particular specialties, whatever they may be at any given time, is being called for. As a result, the Scotsman is in the lab, but not for research's sake. He's got his backpack sitting on top of the table, a briefcase opened that shows different packing shapes than what is used to, that is, it's not the drones' home.

Fitz is dressed in a longsleeved oxford shirt, a red and green vest sitting atop, and a tie that is set to his half-windsor knot up to the top button. He's got his neatly pressed slacks, leather oxford shoes and his ID is tucked onto his belt.

Softly, but distinctly, he's talking to himself, more utterances than actual conversation, really. "'Aight, an' just one more .. ah, don't want to forget that.." and with each statement, Fitz is pulling things off his shelf and setting it aside his backpack, ready to organize before setting it in.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
'Tis the season alright! What for? For Daisy it's to keep in touch with her friends. Maybe an invite for a christmas dinner. Everyone likes those right? Specially awkward anti-social scientists that would prefer to spend time in the lab than socializing. But Daisy is no wilting flower, she doesn't give up!

So here she is making way to the lab where the FitzSimmons natural habitat is at. Missions? She has a pretty open card at this point, which is perhaps why she is dressed in black jeans and sweater when she comes into the lab.

A brow shoots up right after when she notes how Fitz is dressed up in.

"Okay ..., this isn't what I was expecting.." She eyes the pack atop the table.

Leopold Fitz has posed:
Hark! There is no holiday music playing in the background, nor are there stockings set up and hanging from various shelves within the lab. Not even an elf can be seen. The season is still young, mind, and it can change at any moment. Or, perhaps the lab geeks aren't quite up on their 'how to decorate for the holidays' yet?

With his micrometer and tools set to the side and ready to be packed. Fitz is wheeling around as he remembers yet one more thing to bring, bringing him face to face... and he starts, straightening up as breathy words come, "Don't do tha'.. y'nearly gave me a heart attack." Can the word 'again' be heard without actually //saying// it? Absolutely.

Now, however, he takes a side step, and reaching for another bit of analytical tech, Fitz gets sucked in, "What were you expecting?" It's a question that has to be asked, but he does continue in order to fill in his friend. "Mission. Apparently a new lab isn't quite up to par with the work expected, an' I'm t'go an' give them a helpin' hand." His accent is a touch heavier, a key indication that he really, really isn't happy about going, but orders are orders...

"So," and he turns to Daisy fully, "Not sure when I'll be back. If they're not a bunch of idiot monkeys, then it'll be before Christmas. If they're hopeless an' I want to fire the lot of 'em, it'll be after New Years."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Where's a good ol' Mariah Carey song when we need it? Alas! Yet if anything Daisy is used to the lab not being that decorated for christmas. It's the tradition, only do it reaaaalll close to the date. Because there are other priorities. Like engineering the new flux capacitor, or biotech'ing some new species of plant, or you know .., studying Kree artifacts!

Never a moment of rest at SHIELD.

Unless you are Daisy and you just find time for everything. Nevermind the pile of bureaucracy at her desk that's growing by the minute. But hey, it's all about appearances! And style. Lots of style on those jeans.

The cheshire smile Daisy gives back to Fitz is a knowing one. Yes, she knows how she always makes her friend jump when she comes by. "Thought you'd be getting used to me being around by now.." so non-challant.

"It sounds and looks as if this lab might be back home though.." She noted the heavier accent! "Pack for one though?" she looks around. "Not going with .., Jemma." note the little pause there before saying Jemma's name.

Leopold Fitz has posed:
One never, ever gets used to turning around and seeing Daisy there where she hadn't been before! Sneaky Daisy.

Fitz bounces the bit of tech in hand just to keep his hands busy in that fidget before he sets it down next to the other things that he's got to pack. Shaking his head, he exhales in a soft breath, "No one can get used to //that//, that whole 'suddenly you're there'." Fitz is taking it in stride; it actually is a fact of life. Doesn't keep him from expanding the thought, however. "I swear you must have a teleporter or some forsaken thing on you. If it weren't for the fact we've already wired for electrical charges an' anomalies, I'd really wonder."

The good doctor passes to the side to check the progress of his packing, and he counts, nodding his head as he does as he takes a mental inventory in his mind to compare it to what he's got before him. The question about Jemma does bring another sigh, and he hangs his head forward before shaking it once more. "I'm gonna be missing Christmas, maybe." See? He actually //knows// what holiday it is! Turning around again, he's leaning on the lab table, his hands taking hold of the edge of the table on either side as he leans. "I was hoping that maybe we'd actually get a chance to talk again, and maybe.." Here, he pauses again before adding, "Go out for the new year. Maybe."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"It's the evolution of my power." Daisy retorts in a sagely manner, lifting a finger, "A few more levels and I will unlock full teleport, I just need to go around the paywall and farm some more gold coins." now she's just nerding it out like the geek that she is!

Daisy does join Fitz near that pack, curious as she looks at what he's getting in there. Lots of things she doesn't know. She also doesn't ask what they are. She doesn't want to get into a half-hour explanation on the benefits of bringing this piece of tech into such a trip. All because she doesn't want Fitz to be late for his flight, OF COURSE.

"No one misses christmas when I am around." Daisy then finally says, resting one hand on Fitz's back. "We will just go meet you if needed be."

"New Year is the time for new resolutions. Have some in mind?"

Leopold Fitz has posed:
Being late for the limo to the airport to take a SHIELD sanctioned flight out would not be good. Not everything requires a stealth SHIELD helicopter or Quin or a helicarrier. Sometimes? It's Business Class on a commercial airline. Complete with passport. Not this time, however; he's got too much equipment to trust to just any baggage handler. Quin to helicarrier it is.

To peek at it, there doesn't seem to be any weaponry packed for this trip. Even the briefcase that holds the DWARFs is notably absent. Purely lab-centric, as he said?

Hopefully, anyway.

"Yah, I'll be in Japan. We're setting up a new relay station and seconding it with some very basic engineering capabilities. You'd think that it'd be done without much fuss, but.." and he shrugs while shaking his head. "Of course not," he finishes up.

There's that flicker of something that crosses his face; a touch of hope, perhaps? Something to look forward to in case he's stuck? "I wouldn't want t'put you out," Fitz begins softly, "An' it's a long way from home. Jemma's got her parents, an' you.. well, I'm sure you've got something cooked up."

The question that rises from auld lang syne, however, brings his attention around. He glances over to Jemma's lab area; it's quick, there and back before he shrugs. "I don't know how she feels about it all. I guess a talk'd be good."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Remember to pack the ICER." Daisy noticed there's no weapon in that pack. And she knows how they often don't believe in carrying one in such missions but Daisy has learned one has to be ready all the time. Never know when some danger might just pop up that needs some good ICER-ing.

Japan gets her to arch a brow though. "That's further away than I was expecting. Who sanctioned this? Was it Jenkins? That guy doesn't believe in Christmas.." she is muttering a little at the unfairness of it all and then shakes her head. "We can cook something up on Japan. Besides, I love Sushi..." she leans forward, "Matt hates it.." she whispers. "But I am sure I can turn him around with a trip to Japan."

Yep, she is starting to cook something by now already.

"Never delay things, can't know what tomorrow will bring." She then nudging the scientist with her hip. "Now let's get this pack full. I will give you a ride to the airport."

It's like Driving Miss Daisy. But in reverse.

Leopold Fitz has posed:
"Pretty sure I won't need it," Fitz begins, "They're kind of funny about guns." Granted, he's got clearances to carry regardless of country, but he's an Engineer. He is the smart one, and the Agents that do all the fighting and shooting are the ones that are supposed to protect him so he doesn't have to rely on his own 'just qualified in pistol' ability. Still, he gives her a long look before pushing off the table to find his holstered ICER and bring it back to set it into the pile for packing. Once done, all that's left is to fill his backpack, which he does deliberately, making sure all is in its place. "If it was Scotland, I'd have been happier. An', of course it was Jenkins. It's not his turn for TDY, however, an' it was a convincing argument for me to go. The man is an idiot." Short, sweet and to the point.

It's that other bit that does gain a little attention, and brows rise quizzically, "Matt?" That's right... "Still haven't met this fellow," Fitz starts again as he closes up his pack and slides it over, testing the weight before picking it up fully by the top handle. "Yet." And if he does?

Never delay? "Easier said than done," is muttered softly. He's gone on those couple of 'date/not dates', and they'd both had a good time. They're best friends, so what is the delay? //Friends//. Such a harsh word at times. "We'll see." At least he's managed that?

Hefting the pack onto his shoulder, Fitz is ready to go, and grabbing his suit jacket from a stand, he nods quickly. "Just don't get us killed, okay? Promise?"
