It's Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Christmas
Date of Scene: 08 December 2022
Location: 6C - Matt Murdock
Synopsis: A festive restaurant in the ski lodge is a perfect setting for a holiday getaway.
Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Daisy Johnson

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Along with the things that Matt brought along for Daisy were a few dresses and all of the other things she might wish for preparing for a night out. The large ski lodge has a restaurant with live music, and Matt had said he was told the decorations were really something to see.

Yes, there was a blind joke in there.

But not so bad of one that the couple didn't get dressed up and head for the ski lodge. It's just far enough off that a walk in the brisk winter air didn't seem a terrible idea. Matt walks close at Daisy's side, an arm to help her in case there's any icy spots along the way. Up ahead the ski lodge is lit up, a number of people arriving from cabins or even the nearby town to go inside, others staying there heading out for other night spots.

"Mmm. I don't know if you can smell that yet," he says, giving a little motion with his hand in front of his nose. "The steak smells amazing though. Also the seasoning they used on the mixed vegetables," he comments as they walk, the snow remaining on the plowed sidewalk crunching beneath their feet as they near the place.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
There was also a groan at such joke. As Daisy often did. Because it's what you get for using blind jokes being blind! Does she draw the line at lawyer jokes? Well, not really. Those get groans out of her too. Even if she can be just as campy with her own jokes!

But tonight wasn't about being campy. It was about finding the perfect dress. So she had went with a light pink one, shoulders bare with just a touch of cleavage. It flares down on the skirts, loose and long, almost down to the ground. Because if they will be dancing she doesn't want her legs tightened up by her skirt!

"Is this your way of saying you already chose the dish you will be eating?" A soft laugh out of Daisy as she walks with Matt into the restaurant, arm wrapped with his, a jacket over her shoulders to stave off the cold from that walk.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The restaurant is a little deeper inside the ski lodge. But the decorations are waiting to meet them at the door. There are elves and reindeer, and mini trees bespeckled with lights and decorations. Manger scenes and candy canes. Wreaths and holly adorn the walls, while festive lights cover the ceiling. A small train runs along a track suspended beside a wall, running the length of it before disappearing through a hole in the wall into another room. Later it can be seen remerging further down the hallway, as if the track runs throughout much of the ski lodge.

"Must really be something," Matt comments softly. "I can hear people talking about them," he tells Daisy. And indeed, it's the kind of magical scene that the movies would try to create for that perfect moment.

Up ahead the sounds of a band can be heard coming from the dining room where double doors open to it. A hostess is standing outside, wearing a black dress and a Santa hat. As they walk up, Matt tells her, "Reservation for two for Murdock." She checks her book and smiles, saying, "Of course, right this way," to lead them in to a table beside the dance floor. There's a band on the stage, at the moment just playing quietly festive holiday background music while people eat.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Oh, good lord..." Daisy says about all the christmas decorations around. Is she big about christmas? Not particularly. Turns out that being an orphan means you don't get to spend time with family, or have much in terms of that holiday spirit going. But now she had family. Maybe it was time to review her look at it all. But for now?

"I am being assaulted from every side.." She jests, "But you get what you could expect out of a holiday spot so close to christmas. Mmm, candy canes... I wonder if anyone will notice if I steal one..." forever an orphanage girl this one! Ready to steal the sweets.

As they make their way further in and get received by a hostess? She leans closer to Matt. "Shield is still paying, right?" because the place really looks fancy.

"Oooh, we are right next to the dance floor." Which means Matt won't escape dancing tonight. No matter how much he may complain about it! She leads Matt to his seat before walking to hers and settling down, hands brushing over the sides of her dress.

"The place is lovely." she reaching with one hand and squeezing Matt's over the table.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt takes Daisy's hand as she rests it in his, thumb brushing over the backs of her fingers. "I can only imagine how you must look in it," he tells her, her smile making clear he's being earnest and it isn't meant as any kind of joke. "But then you always look lovely to me," he says, reaching over with his other hand to softly brush his fingers along her cheek. Stirring the waves of heat he senses emanating from her, like her features were drawn subtly in flame.

"And I... think they might be. I don't know for sure, now that you mention it," he says of paying for the meal, and adding a soft chuckle. "If we are, we can manage it I think," he says. "But let's charge it back to the cabin. And, if you get called into the Director's office, well, we'll work it out," he teases. Maybe it is still on their bill and he's just playing with her?

"The band sounds good," he comments. "Always nice when they are perfectly in tune with each other," Matt says as a waitress comes over to take their order.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
As those fingertips brush over her cheek it makes Daisy turn her head towards him, the flush lighting up her face, almost as if illuminating what he can 'see', her feelings of love clearly evident at that, "I do feel lovely tonight." she admits. "It was a good choice of dress. I will let you .., explore..., later on." then she lowering her tone. "And also during the dancing."

Nothing like a little incentive to get Matt thinking about dancing.

That Matt isn't sure who is paying has Daisy gasp. But now they are seated. No backing off! And they probably don't have club sandwiches or something of the sort. "Well, you know what? I won't even look at the menu so I don't see the prices." she announces. "I will trust your nose."

When the waiter finally comes she grins, "We will have the steak. Yes, the one that comes with the mashed potatoes. As for drinking ..." she looks at Matt for his choice.

Might as well not choose ALL they will be eating tonight.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
At the mention of dancing, Matt draws in a small breath and lets it out as a sigh. Though he's smiling, as if wanting to give Daisy such a night means a lot to him. Even enough to, gasp, dance in public.

The waitress nods and says, "Excellent choice." Matt gets his rare, and then orders a bottle of merlot to go with the meal.

The woman heads off and Matt turns back to Daisy. "So have you given any thoughts on what you might like Santa to bring you this year?" he asks, lips quirking up just slightly at one corner. "There's probably a Santa in town somewhere at a store. I'm sure it would make his Christmas to have you in that dress sit in his lap to tell him what you want," he teases warmly.

Still holding Daisy's hand, Matt continues to gently brush it over her skin. He's filled with such a sense of contentment at being able to give her the kind of experience that he'd not be able to normally.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Mmmm, gifts?" Daisy makes a show of thinking about it, tapping a finger to her lips, elbows on the table in a decidedly not very lady like fashion. At least Matt can't see her! Eventually she does speak up, tone rich with amusement. "I am not sure I have been good girl enough to deserve gifts." yep, she's teasing Matt.

"I might have to confess all my nasty deeds before I can." Another squeeze on Matt's hand and she looks around the place. "This place is decidedly lit." she admits to Matt. "I can't help but feel a little .., you know ..." out of place? "Loving it though. Even if I would be just as happy cuddling on the couch eating our favorite chinese takeout from the Dragon." it's a classic!

"And what do -you- want for Christmas, Matt?"

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"If the place is as beautiful as everyone says, then I think you would blend in with it marvelously," Matt tells Daisy as he flashes a soft smile over the table at her. He gives her hand a tiny squeeze, and then the waitress is back to pour their wine, and sets down a basket with warm little slices of bread, and some olive oil and pepper to dip it in.

The question back at Matt makes his head tilt down slightly as if in thought, though the smile doesn't take long to come to his lips. "I think I've already gotten more than I ever expected or hoped to have," he says, giving another slight squeeze of Daisy's hand to indicate what he means. "I suppose maybe a jar of ointment for bruises wouldn't be without use though," he teases lightly.

Over on the stage, the singer steps up to the microphone and begins singing a soft, sultry version of 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'. "Uh oh. Is this the part where you make me dance, and if I don't, Santa's watching and knows if I've been good or bad?" he asks.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"I am a sucker for olive oil on bread.." Daisy admits when the entrees are brought in she licking her lips briefly, "You will have to carry me on your arms home tonight." because she won't be able to walk! Such a food junkie that Daisy can be sometimes. But it's not every day you eat in a fancy restaurant. With good food.

"Also, it's a rule that you can't answer such a question by saying you already have all you hoped to." A Daisy-rule for sure. "Though if you don't I will just have to figure something out on my own.." she threatens.

It will be socks.

Okay, she isn't that evil.

Her eyes go to the stage a moment as the music starts and she lets a smile come to her features, watching the beginning. "It is." she says to the question, "Will you grace me with a dance tonight, Mr. Murdock?"

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt slowly rises from his chair, pushing it in, a hand trailing the edge of the table around to Daisy's side, where he gently guides her chair back and then offers her his hand in rising. "Always, Daisy. Always," he tells her with a quiet smile.

He lets her guide him to the dance floor, where Matt slips an arm down to the small of Daisy's back, the other holding hers as he dances close against her. He draws in a slow breath, filling his head with her scent. And savoring the feeling of her against him. His fingers brush across the silk of the dress, his smile approving even if he doesn't get to explore it fully yet.

"I don't need to see to know I'm dancing with the most beautiful woman in the room," he whispers to her.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Getting up to her feet Daisy half-leads and is lead by Matt to the dance floor. Enough that it won't look weird that someone blind would be doing the leading. But once they are close to each other there is no more need to pretend.

One hand on the small of her back. Both of hers up and resting on his shoulders, one going over his neck. It means he gets to feel that dress quite closely too, the silk framing over her form nicely.

"Mmmm, flattery will get you places tonight, Mr. Murdock." She teases, appreciating the comment, both by words but also by her cheeks burning at the compliment. She's not that used to being the beautiful one.

Her head comes to rest on Matt's shoulder and she is felt relaxing to him, bodies moving almost as if in a dream, to the sway of the music, she letting herself be carried away by it's sound and the warmth on Matt's solid arms around her.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
If dancing entailed more perfect moments like this, it would be easier to pull Matt out onto a dance floor. For at the moment there isn't much that could pull him away from the feeling of Daisy in his arms. Their bodies dancing close together. The way it feels to hold her close. Emotions expressed in ways that only that close touch of themselves together can.

The song doesn't so much end as the band transitions to a new one without pause. The singer's voice is like a rough velvet, smooth in the right moments yet able to just appear rough in the right moments to make the music felt all the more. Please Come Home For Christmas.

Matt is mostly content to just dance close, only moving Daisy about the dance floor small amounts now and then. The moment is all about her. About being with her. Overhead the ceiling is covered with the greenery of runs of holly and twinkling lights. A few other couples are out on the dance floor, each having their own private area in which to share their affections with one another. There's too much above for Matt to pick out the detail, but Daisy might spot there's a sprig of mistletoe above, just a foot or so from where they are dancing.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Operation: Mistletoe is a go.

Which really, it's mostly Daisy maneuvering their dancing so as to get under that mistletoe. Will Matt figure out what's going on? Well, perhaps he will. Specially when she eventually speaks up. "We are standing under mistletoe.." her voice a soft whisper against Matt's ear, bodies continuing to move together under the new song, hips moving a bit more as this one has a faster pace.

And then without another word she reaches up. Up to her tiptoes, meeting Matt's lips in a quiet, warm kiss, arms fully going around his neck and bringing him close, gently.

All while they continue to slowly dance together. In love.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"We are?" he replies back just as softly. "Well, as a Catholic I wouldn't want to be accused of skipping out on an important Christmas tradition," he whispers back with a smile.

His fingers move to touch Daisy's cheeks, as near to gazing into her eyes as he can do. And then they kiss. Sweet. Tender. The man's love for Daisy Johnson given free run of the touch of their lips. So she knows the depth of his feelings for her as they dance and kiss tenderly on the dance floor.

Matt isn't sure how long it takes for the kiss to break, though when it does one can tell he's savoring the afterglow of it. "Mmm. Might have to... revisit that when we get back to the cabin," he whispers to her. "Maybe in that hot tub on the back porch?"
