Cast of Characters: Dinah Lance, Barbara Gordon, Zinda Blake

Dinah Lance has posed:
Well, this was a magic time for a florist. There were two fairly major holidays in a row here - Christmas and New Years, both of which have moderate demand for flowers. (Moderate in relation to the big V-day of course).

If they came by yesterday or Sunday, this place would have been a masterpiece of disaster. By this time, it was /mostly/ cleaned up, with the displays full of arrangements that have names stuck to them. And Dinah behind the counter, tongue stuck out of the corner of her mouth, wearing leather pants and a snazzy top (with her high heeled boots, of course), as she starts finishing another arrangement.

Kinda a busy time, but New Years wasn't exactly the /largest/ flower day of the year.

But these large days kept the lights on. And crimefighting /definitely/ didn't pay the bills.

The sign on the outside was flipped to 'closed', but those in the know - like Birds of Prey, knew that Dinah was probably around at this time.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Outside the closed shop, across the street, a sport motorcycle glides in to an open parking space. The rider, dressed in black, dismounts the bike after a moments pause atop it. Wearing a black leather jacket, black pants, and boots, the rider lifts their hands up to remove the bike helmet they were wearing.

It's a woman, it's a redhead, it's Barbara Gordon. She waits for a chance to cross, and then moves across the street, one hand holding the reflective black helmet under her right arm, the other going up to move fingers through her fiery hued hair. It falls down around her shoulders then, as she works it loose, and when she approaches the closed store, she peers through the window.

There's a knock of knuckles against glass, and Babs smiles through the window toward the woman she sees working on the arrangement within.

Babs offers a little wave to get her attention too!

Zinda Blake has posed:
Zinda Blake is one of those who are 'in the know' about the Sherwood Florist. The pilot has been on the Birds of Prey roster for a while now, although she hasn't been called up for duty yet. Still, membership comes with a list of names and numbers, along with the occasional address (where one exists).

As Barbara is knocking on the glass, a Jeep Wrangler pulls up from the other direction. Zinda is wearing her signature mini along with black boots and a leather flight jacket.

She parks by angling towards the curb and letting out the clutch to kill the engine, already striding briskly towards the store being accosted by the redhead. "Y'all best jus' settle down, now, or I'll... " She pauses with a squint, then laughs. "Oh, it's you, Skipper. All the black sorta threw me."

Dinah Lance has posed:
"NO!" she calls as she glances up from the arrangement briefly, concentration as she was messing with the way the lily sat against the rose just about ruined. "WE'RE..." she begins.

There was a rapping on the glass, and those blue eyes of Dinah catch sight of Barbara, and the momentary irritation on her face evaporates into brief joy. She points at the door - it was unlocked for now. But in spite of that, she abandons her arranging duties and steps around the counter, opening the door and letting the chilly winter air in. "Hey...!" she calls. A glance between Babs, and then Zinda. Back, and forth, and forth and back.

"... everything okay?" she asks, voice growing a bit serious. "Come in, if you two want."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Babs caught some of Dinah's reaction to her sudden appearance outside, but Zinda pulling up took the redhead's attention away from entering the store's open doorway. Instead, Babs is now looking at Zinda as she exits that vehicle, and a grin rests upon's her visage. "Well hey there, Top Gun." Barbara says, now holding her helmet against her lap with both of her hands atop its domed crown. "Been awhile. Glad to see you. In fact, been meaning to ask if you wanted to come by sometime..."

The door opens up, and Dinah is there. Barbara gives her a lopsided grin, and shakes her head gently side to side. "Sorry for not announcing I was coming by. I just wanted to stop in and give you a late Christmas present." She motions to the black backpack she's wearing on her shoulders, then glances to Zinda. "And no trouble going on, nope, not that I'm aware of anyway... Well, I mean, I'm sure something is going on, something is ALWAYS going on, but hey, it's my night off."

Zinda Blake has posed:
Zinda Blake has met them both, if only briefly, and slips into the flower shop along with Babs. "Nothin' in the way of TROUBLE, leastwise not from my end. I was actually here on flower-business, if that's alright." She pauses and leans her butt against a table.

"Simple order, really, for the Veteran's Hospital. I need 47 long-stemmed, red roses for New Year's Eve." The pilot slips both hands into her jacket pockets, then adds. "Christmas and New Year's are two of the loneliest holidays for soldiers."

Dinah Lance has posed:
"No, you all," meaning the Birds of course, "Are welcome anytime," she says. "It's kinda funny how life tends to bring people by in groups, right?" she says. "And yeah. I was talking with Kate about that. We almost should do this crimefighting thing in shifts, and the people who are dealing with the constant crime grind should have a spa day or somethin'," she says.

"And yeah, of course," she says. A pause, "You guys want some beer, or soda?" she says. "I got both upstairs in the apartment, but I can bring it down. Or we could all go up there, if you all are stayin' a little," she says.

"Although - admittedly, I probably should focus on this stuff a bit, it's a bit of a rushy time," she admits.

"But you got it, Zinda. That'll be a relatively easy order to fill, we have roses by the... /buckets/," she says. "Literally. Although I ran out over Christmas, and..."

Something Barbara said catches her attention, the woman's eyes blinking. "Gift?" she says. "You shouldn't have!"

Barbara Gordon has posed:
The table that Zinda leans against, gets Babs' backpack set down upon it. After having entered the shop, to get out of the cold, Babs grins at what they're saying before she unzips her bag and pulls out a bottle of wine with a little dark red and gold ribbon around its long neck. "I dunno how you feel about a Pinot Red from the 1990s, but... I thought it might be nice to sip on while you enjoy all your flowers." She tells Dinah, before offering the bottle over to her. "Merry Christmas." She adds quietly.

Her eyes go to Zinda then, and she grins at the woman. "I didn't kno you'd be here, buuuut, I got one for you too if you ever wanna stop by the tower."

The redhead shoots them both a quick look then. "In fact, that's why I wanted to speak with both of you. I just wanted to say that the Tower has been through a lot of internal renovations this past year... and you're both welcome there any time you'd like. We have apartments available, training rooms, gaming areas, it's... become quite a place for our people."

Babs adjusts her hair some before she puts her left hand back atop her backpack. "And yeah, I can stay for a bit, just finished taking care of errands, so I'm done for the night."

Zinda Blake has posed:
Zinda Blake looks between the two, flashing a wide grin. "Honey, I'll never turn down a beer. Either here or up there. I even promise not to drain your fridge, especially with you fillin' the last-minute order."

She looks quite interested in the invitation to the Tower as well. Zinda has been there exactly once, and that was brief. "If I remember right, there's also a couple good bars just down the street from the Tower, too. Might make a good place to crash after a long night." Wink.

"I'm an old soldier, so home is usually where I finally pass out. But I don't drink near as much as I did when I was active during the war." She slips her hands out of the jacket, leaning back on them as well. "I'll stop by sometime, and not just for the wine."

Dinah Lance has posed:
How did Dinah feel about alcohol?

Her brows lift, and the edges of her lips curl with bemusement. "I feel you are instantly elevating what I usually drink, Babs," she says. "So that's sweet. Very very sweet," she says. "I think when this is all done, I'm gonna settle down with this and a binge of something streaming," she adds, taking the bottle from the other woman and looking it over.

And of course she goes for the one-armed hug, because she *should*. Of course, this leads to the whole... 'I didn't get you anything' thing, but... "Maybe I could do the binge and the drinking at the tower, if you have rooms and stuff?" she says. "I'm assuming, at least, you got that kinda thing," she says.

Dinah returns Zinda's wink, and goes upstairs to get a beer - tossing it to her from the stairwell.

"Well, I only have a twelve-pack - what's left of it, now, so all you gotta do is get me another one sometime," she chirps, cheerily. She had the wine on the countertop, but had settled back behind the counter, focusing on arranging new orders.

"I'll get the red roses by Friday, for sure," she says to Zinda. "Even if I have to rob other stores of 'em," she says.

And Dinah would be /around/, but definitely distracted as she does actual work, willing to let the others in or out as they pleased, but providing only minimal conversation from this point on!
