Cast of Characters: Carol Danvers, Diana Prince

Carol Danvers has posed:
The doors of Diana's office are opened to make way for a blonde woman, younger looking than her years and wearing her signature red and blue bodysuit beneath a leather bomber jacket. She doesn't much feel the weather, but she dresses for it all the same. She gives the Themysciran attendant who showed her the way a polite smile before stepping into the office, glancing over her shoulder as the doors are closed behind her.

"Well, that's a first. Got in without an appointment."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana is standing in the far corner of her office, her hair is tied back in a braided ponytail, she's wearing a white fluffy sweater over worn-in blue jeans, with a pair of simple leather boots on her feet. She's putting away a few books when the Embassy attendant delivers Carol to her office. The voice causes her to stop what she's doing as she looks over at Carol. Wearing a pair of black thick-framed glasses, for style purposes... Diana just smiles at what she sees.

"Why, hello. An unexpected surprise." She says, setting the last two books down upon a shelf as she walks over to Carol. "Hug incoming." She tells her, moving to do just-so.

When she pulls back, she holds Carol's forearms through her jacket. "How are you? Been well, I hope?" She asks in her Themysciran accented English.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"You've got the military jargon down," Carol says with a faint laugh as Diana hugs her, lifting her arms to pat her on the back in return, "Now you've just got to learn to say 'over' after every sentence."

The question earns a 'so-so' expression from Carol, keeping a light grip on Diana's forearms as well as they stand there in the middle of the office.

"Busy. You'd be surprised how often there's something going on in space that needs checking on. Well, maybe not so surprised with your spaceport growing like it is. You've got to get me out there at some point."

Diana Prince has posed:
The comments from Carol just earn a grin from Diana in return. "The Starport is ... doing well. There have been some opening pains, some growing pains, you might say, but I believe we are in good shape now."

She pauses then to motion toward the drink bar in the front corner of the room. "Thirsty? We have quite a selection, even in here."

She motions to the sofa seating area too on the fancy rugs in front of the vairous book shelves displays across the walls. "Have a seat... and yes, I would love to have you there, because, well... we are not stopping at the Starport. It is time to gove, above and beyond, as they say..."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"I'd love to be there," Carol reiterates with a nod of her head, glancing towards the bar with an almost rueful half-smile before offering: "Surprise me."

She moves towards one of the antique-looking, finely-upholstered chairs and settles herself down in it. Neatly crossing her legs, takes the moment to enjoy being off her feet.

"So, where are you going from here, exactly? Out into the wider solar system? I've always thought it was kinda stupid that we're clearly a species capable of long-distance space travel and we haven't even put a flag on Mars yet."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana steps over to the small kitchen / bar area and she gathers up a pair of glasses for them. She soon pours them both a bit of spiced egg nog. "I think I need to finish this off before the end of December, or it becomes some kind of a serious social faux-paux to still have it on-hand." She quietly says while smiling and walking over to Carol to hand it to her. "Are you good with a bit of alcohol?" She asks the mighty woman.

Diana sits down across from her in another seat, and sips the drink in her hand before she lowers it again. "And yes, we have rushed to the stars to deal with threats to our world, but in the process we have not advanced mankind's own space faring endeavors. It's time to change that, as far as I am concerned. This means helping the public space companies have better resources to engineer their own starcraft, and make that push to the Moon, then to Mars, and beyond. This is our solar system, after all... We should be proud of our standing within it, and all of the celestial bodies it contains. The exploration of it alone will be exciting, and wondrous... not even requiring us to travel beyond it, yet."

She shows a slight grin then upon her crimson painted lips.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Always have been," Carol answers in regard to the alcohol, reaching out a hand to accept the glass once it's prepared.

"I always wanted to be an astronaut as a kid. It's why I joined the Air Force. But by the time I got there all we were doing was LEO missions. I mean, they're like nothing else but ... I really wanted to be the first one to return to the Moon, or the first one on Mars. I know things are different now, but ... anything I can do to help, you know?"

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana holds the glass of alcohol and egg nog between her hands as she sits there with her posture straight and perfect upon the edge of the seat, her forearms resting atop her thighs. "Well, they missed out on having you as a member of the astronaut legacy." She tells the other with a warm smile.

"How is the farm?" She asks then. "Did you ever get that rusty old tractor functioning again?" She asks next, display a playful grin. "You seemed to need the peace that that place offered, I was hoping to hear it had helped you relax some."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"I haven't had much chance o get back," Carol replies, which is saying something given how fast she can fly, "I was thinking about making a project of it. Tidy the whole place up. Might be nice to get a few animals. I've got the apartment in the City and the room at the Mansion, but I think I prefer it out there. Kind of makes me appreciate that you've got a whole inaccessible island to kick back on when you need to, right?"

"Want to help me work on the tractor sometime? How good are you with cars?"

Diana Prince has posed:
After another sip of the drink, the glass is lowered back down to hover over Diana's knees. She shows a grin of subtle nature toward the other woman, especially at the end there and that question.

"Ah... I take my vehicles to a garage not too far from here, a young woman named Mercy Thompson does all the work upon them. She's a very talented mechanic. She might even be able to get old farm equipment to run again." She states, keeping that grin there for a moment.

The Amazon Princess then tilts her head ever-so-gently to the right as she watches Carol. "You are always welcome on Themyscira too, you know? There have been some rather miraculous events occurring there of-late too. Seven hundred new Amazons walked out of the Well of Souls... the first in over a thousand years. We have been trying to accomodate them since. Some are here in New York now, helping protect this home, and helping train at the Arts Center across the park... Mmh, it has been... very exciting."

Carol Danvers has posed:
"Guess I'm S-O-L on getting my own private Amazon training if you've got a whole batch of new inductees, huh?"

Carol's smiling, mostly joking around by the sound of it. She take a sip of the drink she was given, raising her eyebrows with a nod of her head.

"I think my brother'd be rolling in his grave if he found out I wasn't taking care of my own car problems, no matter how mundane they are in comparison. But I appreciate the offer."

Another sip.

"As for Themyscira, I'd love to get a chance to visit and stay for a while. Learn about it. I've picked up so many alien languages and cultures out there, but there's still big swathes of home that I don't know anything about."

Diana Prince has posed:
Diana's attention is solely on Carol as she speaks, showing a little expression here and there to what she says. That last part, though, has her exhale a soft laugh. "It is funny how that works out, is it not?" She asks. "Even Earth's oceans are largely unexplored to this day... as much as Arthur Curry might tell you otherwise." She smirks at her own comment before she glances toward something on her desk.

"And, in fact..." Diana sets her glass down on a coaster upon the table in front of her, then rises up and walks over to her desk just a few feet away. Her back to the windows viewing the exterior grounds. "I have something here that I would like you to have..." She says, picking through a box on her table. She soon raises up another box out of the larger one.

"I do not know how much Amazon training would help you, nor do I know how much you might need from my people at all.. but..."

The tall Princess walks back over to where Carol is, and offers her a box. "Merry Christmas." She says with a smile.

And when Carol opens the box, she'll find a set of Amazon armored bracers within it, golden and shining, pure Themysciran steel, untouched in their ornate design.

"Many of these have been made for the arrival of the Seven Hundred. But, beyond them... I would like you to have these, since you are one that I consider worthy of them beyond Themysciraa's shores... that you will visit, someday."

Carol Danvers has posed:
Carol sits up a little straighter when Diana makes mention of a gift. Her brow furrows slightly as she holds out both hands to accept the box, opening it after a moment to look at the bracers inside. Despite how jaded and experienced she may be, her eyes light up like a kid who has just received the latest console for Christmas.

"Oh, god, Diana, I can't believe this. These are amazing. I didn't even think about gifts this year ... I'm ... hmmph."

She sits there looking sheepish for a moment, befoe she glances at the glass in her hand. She takes a long draught to finish it off, leaving it empty. Then she places it on her palm, and at once her hand begins to glow with a familiar golden energy. The glass seems to lose form, turning into a swirling mass of energy that twists and turns there. A moment later, the light fades.

Sitting there in Carol's palm is an accurate depiction of Diana in solid gold rather than glass. She is depicted in mid-flight, both hands extended skyward and rather than looking like the warrior she is, she looks like a goddess of peace and love. Artistic license has been taken to give her a pair of eagle's wings, which extend out to the side. It's roughly the same mass as the glass, though transmuted into something else entirely.

"Here ... "

Diana Prince has posed:
While Carol unveils her gift, Diana lowers back down to sit upon the edge of her chair. She remains there as the woman reacts to the bracers, and a grin persists upon her crimson hued lips. "You may not be from Themyscira, but you are from the same world. You have traveled the stars, and fought for the same things that my sisters and I are duty bound to fight for. Thus, you have earned those... not that you even /need/ armor, but they are more than simply that, as I am sure you know." She tells her friend.

Diana's eyes then go to the statue that Carol creates, and a warm smile appears upon Diana's face. She accepts the winged statue, and then just roams her eyes across it. "I /love/ it." She says with a little bubbly laugh escaping from within her, showing off just how much joy the statuette does rise up out of the woman. "Thank you." She says back to Carol then before she stands up and walks over to her shelves filled with various gifts, and memories kept by her. Standing there, with her back to Carol now, Diana places the statue up on one of the shelves at her shoulder-height. "It will go well here..." She says, finding it just the perfect place to gather ambient light across its elegant angles.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"You've got a lot of odds and ends," Carol says with a nod towards the shelf, "A long and storied life. You should think about writing it all down one day. I'd love to read it."

She's still cradling the bracers as though they were the most precious thing in the world, paying no heed to the super-strong material they are forged from. She continues to run her fingertips over them, occasionally gazing down as though to check if they were real.

"I always felt a kind of kindred spirit with you and the other Themyscirans," she admits, "The way I grew up, there weren't a lot of people really accepting of who and what I wanted to be. And then one day I find out that, out there? There's a whole island of people who celebrate it."

Diana Prince has posed:
Once the little statue is in-place, Diana views it for a moment before she casts a grin over her shoulder at the other woman. "Oh, I will, someday. It is all right here, after all." She states, poking at the side of her own head. Her memory is flawless, afterall, every moment as fresh in her mind as the second it happened... a blessing, and a curse.

When she turns around then to walk back toward Carol, she gathers up her own glass, and then just smiles down at the blonde enjoying the gift she'd given her. She reaches out to put a hand upon her shoulder then, lightly squeezing it. "It took time, but you have found us now." She says back in a soothing tone of her husky-hued voice.

"Are you hungry?" She asks. "We have a whole bunch of food in the kitchen, and more drinks." The Princess offers in good spirits.

Carol Danvers has posed:
"I could eat a horse."

Carol reluctantly closes the box with the bracers, opting to take it with her rather than leave it behind to pick it up later. She tucks it under one arm, carefully supporting it as she moves to follow Diana. A hand is placed on the one on her shoulder for a second, coupled with a warm smile over her shoulder.

"And we can talk about getting you up to the farm again. Even Wonder Woman needs time off."
