Coming of Age While Catching a Plane

Location:	Atlantic Ocean Coastline
Synopsis:	Sunny and Billy catch a plane and have a not so romantic flight.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy or Shazam has been busy. A small pavilion is set up on the deserted coast, strung with happy little lights. He brought his folding furniture from home. A radio is currently rattling off the news before a music program starts. The little folding table has one of those fancy candles on it and high grade plastic tableware. A bottle of sparkling cider is opened and breathing. Shazam finally takes a metal bowl full of hot wings and electrifies it, tosses the wings expertly and viola, dinner is ready.

Almost ready. He just needs Sunny. The hero waits, looking out at the setting Sun. Beyond his sight, he senses the stormfront brewing.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
It had been a long week, heroics and work alike. Sewing with needle and thread took a whole new level of difficulty when she could accidently bend the needle completely with the slightest amount of wrong pressure...but school was going well and her side projects were flourishing.

Now however? She was taking the break she probably needed as 'Indestructibelle' in her new black costume trimmed in yellow and notably lacking a cape made her arrival from the air.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam grins as he sees his girlfriend approach. Truthfully, he sometimes smiles for days. He rises into the air to greet her, arms stretched to receive her. He says, "Hey you look great! You gave up on the cape hunh? I'm glad you came. We both needed a little down time. I had a hostage situation that was pretty tense. Anyway... I got some lawn furniture and made a littl thing for us to eat under."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Not giving up on just...trying an alternative," Sunny offers, twirling on the spot after the hug and grinning before she touches down. "A friend liked it, and the half-jacket works better if I have to go inside somewhere."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam touches down and says the word. One bolt of lightning later Billy Batson faces her, eye to eye more or less. H gives her a peck on the cheek, then pulls the chair out for her. Kind of silly helping a woman who could throw you int the stratosphere to her chair.

"...gency call to any metahumans in the area! Flight 939 out of Miami has been struck by lightning off the coast. An engine has been struck and another damaged. Any superhumans who can assist, please help!"

Well he wants to say a 12 letter word but he settles for Shazam after stepping back from Sunny. The lightning seems a little hard on her wardrobe. "Together, Sunshine?" He holds his hand out.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"To be continued," Sunny offers lightly before grinning as the emergency call halts their plans. His transformation has her stretching her arms out before she takes his hand and then makes to zip upwards and into the air towards the struck plane and its problems.

"Might be a pizza afterwards to celebrate night,"

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam eeps ... And follows his hand, and holding hands in flight is really nice. He sneaks a peek back at her and takes in her hair whipping behind her. Life is good!

It is not so good for the people on the jetliner. One engine is out as they approach and trailing smoke as a cold rain begins to fall. Another engine is dodgy as the two close in at nearly Mach one. It is very hard to talk at Mach one. Shazam manages. Godtalk?

"You keep the plane's speed up so it can make it to JFK. I will be the lightning rod at least till it clears this storm."

Sunny Harlow has posed:
If there was no engine, she'd just have to take its place!

Nodding to his words, she rushes sidelong and makes her way towards the position under the wing, pressing her back up into the underside and giving a little soft grunt of concentration as she makes to bring herself to the right speed without ripping the wing.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam flies above the plane and calls the lightning to him.

Zeus seethes. <<Fool!>> Shazam is taken aback, more from that, than the bolt that hits him. "What am I doing wrong?"

Zeus masters his frustration, <<You seek to control the storm. You have my power. You are the storm. It is a manifestation of you. You are treating it as an external force. This is why you struggle and the dusken hued lovely woman you met exceeds you. Be calm. The storm will calm.>>

The zen of superpowers. Billy tries to comply, still a little worried about Sunny. Is she managing? The plane weighs 200 tons roughly but she isn't lifting it, she's subbing for an engine. She's been getting stronger.

She will be fine. Calm. The lightning listens. Its angry flashes and rumbles recede.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Heavy work, but she was on it. Sunny was playing Engine, still trying to match, still trying to work out how fast the plane was going and how fast she should be without actually talking to the pilots.

She was a fashion and design major damn it! Not an Aerophysicist! Still, things seemed to be working as she kept up the lifting and steadying with a grunt of effort. Delicate balance was so much tricker than just...smashing stuff.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazamfeels the skies clear for a bit. He flashes (that name again!) to the cockpit and gets a thumbs up from a worried crew. Awesome sauce! He slows a little and slips under the wing and takes a moment to give Sunny a thumbs up and a grin. Then away from all those windows and passengers he makes a heart sign with thumbs and forefingers over his chest and fills it with a little lightning. Maybe a quick kiss... no, afterwards. Maybe he should take over? The storm seems to be under his control...

Achilles says, <<If you do this it isnot Courage. It is stupidity.>> Solomon says, <<We need to have a long talk...>>

Sunny Harlow has posed:
It's cute, it would be, but there was sort of a -plane- resting on her back, so she'll just grin a little in the whipping of the wind before she nods her head towards the direction of travel.

"Maybe uh, make sure they know there's a crash landing incoming and that they'll need emergency services on the ground?" she offers over the roar of wind and engine alike. "I've got this, we've just got to guide them down!"

Yeah, she's got this.

Probably.

So far anyway!

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam flashes ahead. Now while the storm is taking a rest. He reaches JKF in seconds, setting off a sonic boom and startling the men in the control tower. He yells to them "Flight 939 is coming, get ready for an emergency landing! Gotta go!" Then he is gone with a peal of thunder in the distance.

A few moments later he's back flying alongside Sunny. "Done. Do you need a breather or a hand?" He tries to make it sound like he's just being polite, not worried. After all she'd tell him if she was hitting a wall.

She'd tell him if she was hitting a wall, right?

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"We got it... I got it..." she offers softly before making a face, giving a little laugh despite herself. "It's not like helping with groceries and..." she begins with a grunt before she blinks as weight shifts and the sudden descent of the landing gear for the plane to begin making its landing. "Move to the front, make sure they get the nose steady, right?"

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam gives Sunny a nod and moves to the front. The storm, released sends a last bolt flashing at the red cyclone and...

It staggers him. If he transforms Sunny has to choose between catching Billy and guiding the plane the rest of the way. He doesn't want t put that on her and he resists with every watt of the Power of Zeus! If the Power transforms him, it can resist this mundane lightning, right?

He also does not want his girlfriend to have to keep catching him! The lightning slowly bleeds off. He looks back. The landing gear is not deploying. It is definitely one of those rescues. No telling what would happen if he pulled the wheels out. They might collapse anyway.

He flashes up to the cockpit again as the runway lights come into view. "Cut your engines. We're going to set you down."

|Then he flies over to Sunny. "We have to land the jet under our own power... first we slow it down. We stop it over the runway. Then we descend. I'm pushing on the other wing. You pick the pace. Then when we stop it we both grab her by the fuselage. Ok?"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Sounds like a plan, or at least a plan that they had to go with. Giving a thumbs up at the comment she adjusts her grip while keeping that non-crush while holding things safely. It was...one hell of a test.

Slowly, very slowly, she begins to descend, to 'throttle back' her speed extremely gently.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam follows Sunny's lead. He deadlifted the Statue of Liberty and hung onto the Brooklyn Bridge. Lifting the 200 ton liner would be trivial for him, on the ground. Flying with it? Keeping it intact? Much harder. His problem was often applying his strength correctly. Applying it right also required concentration and he was hitting a wall on that score after dealing with the storm. He jerks a little trying to follow Sunny's corrections and then when the plane is nearly motionless He flies to the fuselage to grip the hull near the landing gear well. It deforms a little and then holds. He waves to Sunny to come with.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
That center spot was risky, but she'd move. If the thing tipped it could tumble and that could spell disaster...but she'd do her best to keep it stable and hope Billy knew what the heck he was doing, or that he could at least be strong and fast enough to make up for the craziness of it.

Billy Batson has posed:
The plane is slowly lowered to the runway. The risk f the centerline is greater but it allows the blonde belle and lightning boy to communicate better. Finally Shazam looks to her and says, "Great, get clear and I can lower her the rest of the way. Get the passengers out... you're better at rescues." If he did anything wrong well. He was pretty sure the airplane wouldn't hurt him THAT much.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Keep it slow and steady, balance it as best you can!" she calls before shaking her head at his words. One point of lift would bend it or rip the thing in half...but instead Sunny moves further down to the rear of the craft and starts to push up with all her weight. She wasn't as strong, but it was comfortable enough to counterbalance until right before the rear 'wheels' spot touches down and she moves out. Headed for the door of the plane as it begins to slow and stop with its Shazam front gear.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam says, "This was not how I expected the evening to play out..." defending mankind was one thing but here he was a landing gear. He shakes some water off his head. Okay this was fun on some level. "We better at least get that pizza!" he calls with a chuckle.
