SHIELD Snack Run
Date of Scene: 01 April 2023
Location: Food Court: Triskelion
Synopsis: Two SHIELD Agents talk on the aftermath of the repulse of the Svartelf attack on the Spaceport.
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Jessica Drew

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The Svartelfs have been driven off. SHIELD is in cleanup mode salvaging much of the ships and whatever technology they can. For the Black Widow? It's her first time back at the Triskelion in at least a couple of weeks with her phase of being missing, then the heavy engagements with the invading forces of Malekith before they were beaten back.

Her body, even with it's accelerated healing and treatment, still shows signs of broken bones healing and bruises that she's not paying any particular attention to. Now.. Now, she's going in for a snack, a few hours after returning.

Jessica Drew has posed:
Jess spots the Senior Agent as she gets into line. Even from a distance, the marks of her recent face-off with the Svartalf invaders is visible. She takes another bite of food, chews quickly, then wipes her mouth. Rising from her seat, she motions to her in invitation to come to the table.

Jessica had not been in the heat of the action and had overflown the battle in the relative safety of the helicarrier. Manning the guns had been exhilarating; her spider reflexes making her fit for the station.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would glance over at Jessica, "Agent Drew, how have you been? I feel like I'm going to be spending a great amount of time being debriefed, then having to catchup on reports while I was incapacitated." Being in another dimension sort of gave that result.

Between SHIELD operations and Avengers operations.. And Jane's death. Among many others.

Jessica Drew has posed:
"Good to see you as well, Agent Romanoff." She smiles briefly, brows pinched in a look of concern, "I heard something of your exploits. Anyone else would still be in the hospital and not worrying about catching up. In any case, I only had a bird's eye view of the action and was never on the ground. Sit." She resumes her own seat. "Tell me how the Starport was."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would shrug and move to take a seat over, "Very well. And.. Bad." She goes to consider for a moment. "A chokepoint defense against an enemy with air superiority, overwhelming numbers, and highly skilled, fanatical, and powerful troops. The spaceport will be repaired in time. THe damage could have been far more extensive. For now.. It's primary use seems to be of a target."

Jessica Drew has posed:
Nodding gravely, "I understand the toll was high until Thor arrived. Did you see it?" she asks, ignoring her food while she focuses on the other Agent.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would shake her head, "Not directly. I saw the aftereffects of it. You likely had a better perspective on it than I did." She would note. "Casualties were heavy amongst all comers present."

Jessica Drew has posed:
Shaking her head slowly, "No, we were too high. I have seen security camera footage. I'm part of the team reviewing the fight, frame by frame. But, we haven't reached the arrival of the transdimensional portal. What do the Asgardians call it? The Bi-something? The Bifrost! I understand the Amazons lost ten of their soldiers. I don't know how many others died," she continues in the same low voice weighted with sadness. She leans forward, "But, by god, we won."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod, "Yes, we won enough battles to win the war. I've reviewed what footage is available. The day was won by strength, skill.. And above all else sacrifice. The Amazons are few in number.. Those that gave thier lives are a tremendous loss to thier culture." Aren't there only a few thousand Amazons in existence?

Jessica Drew has posed:
"And yet, they were first into the fight. It's both amazing and hard to watch. Her eyes widen in amazement, "Then, our Agent Foster was going to nose to nose with Malekith with -Thor's- Hammer. Bloody, crazy amazing. We can't get enough of it."

She takes a slow breath, "I can't believe she...disappeared."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod, "She was.. Among the casualties. And one of our most valued.. Allies." She's actually sad - not that it shows for very long on her face. "With Thor back.. A hole in our defenses will be hopefully patched. And Doctor Foster's sacrifice was one of many that save dus."

Jessica Drew has posed:
The Agent's hardbitten attitude toward life is well known among her fellow agents. That she shows any sadness is a measure of just how much was lost. Jessica nods slowly in agreement, no words being sufficient.

"He is, indeed. Spectacular entrance, too. Dr. Strange and what's her name, Zatara, too, at the last. I heard someone portaled the Eisenhower to the Starport. Which," she adds, "is going to have to be rebuilt."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would nod, "Again. That installation appears to be acting moreso of drawing attacks to it than anyone else. Which is.. In isolation, keeping it away from more populated areas where there is higher risk than collateral damage. But I do wonder if given the constant damage it takes and the resources required to maintain it are worthwhile. It is something organized by the Wakandans, the Amazons, and the Atlanteans.."

Jessica Drew has posed:
"There was a lot of debate about that from our government. But," she shrugs, "it wasn't our money, so not our say. Let's hope it's not hit again after they rebuild."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanoff would consider for a moment, "Preferred but unlikely. It's too large and important a piece of infrastructure to leave isolated." Natasha is cold. She assesses facts, figures, and probability. NOne of which are particularly nice to hear.

And silence fills the cafeteria.
