Do I Know you
Date of Scene: 19 April 2023
Location: A Park In Gotham
Synopsis: Cain meets somebody in the park and realizes they look familiar.
Cast of Characters: Cain Marko, Barbara Gordon

Cain Marko has posed:
It's the biggest park in Gotham. The weather is warm enough. Cain Marko is out jogging. Is he doing this for actual exercise? Nah. Exercise, or lack of it, has no effect on him. But sometimes you want to show off anyway. The mobile mountain of a man is wearing a pair of running shorts and sneakers. That's it. Trotting along the paths of the park at a for him leisurely pace, which is already faster than you'd think from his size. In fact, it can be easy to not realize how fast he is moving. Kind of like seeing a train coming at. It's easy to tell he's coming though, his oversized feet hitting the pavement hard enough it's a wonder he doesn't leave craters behind him. A pair of large red sunglasses covering his eyes. He gets the occasional gawker. Though it's probably more 'Oh god a giant monster is coming!' than 'Nice gains, son!' But whatever.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara had taken a call to meet a few friends in the park. Some of them had kids, so for the past several hours the redhead was just palling around with some friends, and their spawn. They were all at a skate park here within the larger park, Babs wearing a dark grey t-shirt, a pair of loose fit track pants, and some simple sneakers. She had been skating with the kids, talking to her friends, and just being an average person out on the nice day in Gotham...

But the family she'd been with were on their way out now, and Babs just lingers behind, offering one last wave as she reaches for her bottle of Gatorade from the table that had been bought from a street vendor.

Standing beside a table not far from where Cain jogging by, the redhead raises her free hand to stroke her wild fiery hair back out of her face, the long strands of red and orange locks flowing out behind her shoulders in a breeze. She raises her bottle up to take a swig from its half-emptied contents of 'blue drink'.

Cain Marko has posed:
Cain glances around occasionally, checking out who else might be around. As he passes Barbara, his gaze happens to fall on her. At first his attention lingers because, hey. Beautiful redhead. After a couple seconds though, his head cocks to the side curiously and he slows to a stop. No doubt the observant off-duty vigilante will notice this. A big hand raises, rubbing his chin. Then he turns her way and starts to walk over. His looming frame eventually stopping a short distance away. "Hey there Red. You know, for some reason, you look familiar...." The bass rumble is actually a little higher than when she encountered him in the past at full size in his armor. But still recognizable. And the face normally beneath his helmet is the same as the one in his police files. He leans closer to study her features. "Have I run into you you before somewhere?"

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara is lowering the bottle, and recapping it, when Cain approaches her from her right side. She was watching some of the teenagers on the Half-Pipe doing their pretty amazing tricks, and it draws her back to her own teen years a little over a decade ago.

But the lumbering figure, followed by his voice, cause her to turn to look at him. She seems a bit surprised at first, because she is, holding that bottle in front of her stomach she just looks up at the taller, hulking figure.

"Uh... Hi." She says to him as he questions their history. "Maaaybe." Babs says back at him, guarded language of course. She knows who he is. She knows he knows who she is now, and she just raises her chin ever so slightly, shifts her weight on her sporty black and gold shoes, then offers a hand to him to take and shake should he wish.

"Barbara Gordon. I think we ran in to one another near Arkham. Not a great place for first meetings, but memorable at the very least." She says, confidence thick on her soft and feminine voice.

Cain Marko has posed:
Oh wow! She actually missed him approaching? Bruce would be so disappointed. He smiles down at her. "Barbara huh? Nice to run into you again, Red." He takes the offered hand in his own. Basically engulfing it entirely, past the wrist even. He shakes lightly. "I think you were the first person I really met here in Gotham. I've been enjoying my... vacation quite a bit. Even if it can be a lil dangerous going down alleyways. Never know when you're gonna run into some criminal types on the clock." There's an almost smirk on his lips as he says that.

His eyes sweep over her casual athletic wear. "Hmmm. I did like your other outfit. But this looks pretty good on you. I got the feeling anything would, though. Hmmm. Gordon, Gordon... I feel like I already know that name from somewhere too." His brows furrow up as he tries to place it. He doesn't exactly follow politics. But no doubt the guy in charge of handling crime in a town like that is gonna come up now and then in the news.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara had been snuck up on before. She'd been shot in the back for it too. You can only do so much out in public though, which might hint as to why she doesn't come out of her tower much anymore...

"Right..." She quietly says about her attire with a little half smirk. At his question of her name sounding familiar, she raises a finger to point toward the sky off in the distance to the east, Cain's left. There, way off over the city skyscrapers, is a blimp with the name 'Gordon Green Energy' written along the side of it...

She owns a Blimp? That's better than bringing up her father to her.

"Glad you've had a good time in the city. It is a good city, even if it had a bad rep, and some bad actors running around. The heart of the city though? It's still gold." She states, quite proud of her home, thus why she puts her life on the line to preserve it, and to try and improve it.

The sounds of the skating, and general park atmosphere surrounds them with a serene feeling.

"What do you do for work, if I might ask, Mr. Marko?" Had he ever given her his name?

Cain Marko has posed:
Not something that Cain had to worry about, really. Not that it's that hard to sneak up on him. He turns his head, following the direction of her pointing finger. A brow raises when he sees the blimp in question. "Huh. Guess that's where I heard it. Your parents own it or something?" Turning back to her. She does look awfully young. It would be hard to believe that she owns her own company. A big hand raises, reaching out for him to casually invade her personal space and brush some of that red hair back behind an ear. He's certainly not shy.

"Mmhmm. Every city has assholes in it. Even if it sounds like your towns assholes are a little crazier on average." He rolls a big shoulder. "I guess everybody has some hometown pride. Well, almost everybody." The big guy settles down onto the table she was standing beside. There's some ominous creaking, but it doesn't end up collapsing. "Me? Oh, you know. Private security mostly. Gotta take advantage of your talents, right?" He did not, in fact, tell her his name.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
The big hand moving her hair aside gets another faint smirk from the redhead. She doesn't fidget away though. She just watches him move to sit down. She turns to face him, still holding that drink in her hands. "It's mine, point of fact. Out of college, I established a green energy company. My training in computers, and engineering set me up for it quite nicely. Gotham was in dire need of some alternative energy outlets, and since solar was a difficult task for a city that has a notorious amount of yearly cloud cover, we put our sights on wind instead. It's been a lot of work, and though I am not the CEO any longer, I still am heavily involved in it on a board level."

She motions a hand toward the Blimp once more. "This was a wild hair, you could say, of an idea. But it's been a fun one too, I think."

She looks back to him then, and purses her lips together. "I get the sense you're a New Yorker by the way you carry yourself though?" She asks him then.

Cain Marko has posed:
Cain gives her another look when she explains the situation with the blimp. "Issat so? I guess yer a lot smarter than me, then. Not that I'm surprised or anything." He reaches out and rests a hand on the small of her back this time, casually drawing her a little closer to him. Assuming she doesn't avoid the touch. "I guess there does seem to be a lot of wind around. How Not sure how it works with all the buildings though. I guess I should keep an eye out for windmills on highrises and stuff when I'm traveling around. Mmm. If you ever need somebody to smash up a competing company or provide a lil extra muscle to keep some prototype safe, let me know. I'll even give you a discount on account of us bein so close and all."

The question from her makes him shrugs again. "Grew up upstate. Spent lots of time in the city though. Been a lot of other places too for work. What 'bout you? I take it you're Gotham born and bred? I honestly never spent much time here before this. Heard plenty of talk about the place though. Mostly talkin about the furry guy or the crazies running around. Sounded interesting, but was never any real reason to visit."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
What he says garners a small smirk from Babs, and she nods her head softly once. "Born and raised here." She tells him as she steps over to her stuff she'd left in a chair. She gathers up her black denim jacket, and starts to sweep it on over her shoulders. "Sounds like you do a lot of traveling then, which is a good thing, I would say. Nothing keeps us more balanced in mind, than to open ourselves up to seeing how others live their lives in this wild world." She states with a slight grin before tucking that drink in to the sport bag that was resting on the chair too.

"My father is the Police Commissioner. Which is partly related to why I confronted you that night. I come from a ... well, a long line of people wishing to preserve the peace here in Gotham. No offense, of course, you just came off as someone who was looking to disturb the peace that night." She smirks once more to him then.

Cain Marko has posed:
Cain lets out a low snart. "Oh come on, I'm a big ole teddybear. Who'd ever think I might get up to something bad?" Just ignore the countless cases of him getting up to bad things in the public record. "But still, the Commissioner huh? Not planning on becoming a cop yourself, are you? Take over from your ole man someday?" He gives her a broad grin, then raises to his feet again. He notes her getting dressed and putting away her stuff. "Gonna run off and leave me by myself already, huh? Shame. You know, I never did get your number last time we met... we should fix that. Maybe get together sometime and catch up properly." He smiles down at the much shorter redhead.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara places the sports bag on the arm of the metal chair beside the table that Cain is seated upon. She holds one hand on it as she listens to him, smiling faintly to what he says. "I considered joining the Police a long time ago. Even joined the Academy for awhile. But other opportunities came up... and then, well... I was injured pretty badly about a decade ago. It took me a long time to work my way back up to where I am... I wasn't able to walk until a little over a year ago." She somberly explains to him.

"You have seen me out and about, trying to regain some fragments of who I wanted to be a long time ago. Trying to make up for lost time, so on and so forth."

She smiles again to him before she pulls a leather wallet out of her bag. A second later and she offers him a black glossy business card with a lot of her info on it.

Cain Marko has posed:
Cain's brows draw together at that revelation. "Yeah?" He glances over her. "I'd have never guessed that, from the way you can move. Just a year, huh? Wow." He shakes his head. "Pretty impressive there, Red." He reaches out to pat her cheek with his big hand. Which ends up patting one entire side of her head. "Can't say I've ever dealt with anything like that..." When she offers the card to him, he studies it then sticks it in a pocket. "I'll get in touch real soon." He smiles at her again, then pauses. "Oh... before you go. I was wonderin. You ever hear of a group called the Birds of Prey?" The question is asked in a casual way, like he has no idea she's part of said group. Because, well. He doesn't. "A... friend of mine mentioned them and I got curious."

Barbara Gordon has posed:
The pat to the side of her whole head just makes her scrunch her feacial features up in response to it. She then draws in a little breath through her nose and watches him. When he asks of the Birds of Prey she just tilts her head very slightly. "A friend?" She asks. "Might I hear their name?" She fires back without yet answering him.

"I had quite a lot of help with my rehab too, in the form of a neural implant. It has bridged the gap between the injured parts of my spine, and allowed me to regain control of my legs. Otherwise... I'd still be in a chair..." She says that last part with a little shake of her head following it.

"But yes, the Birds of Prey are a group of Gotham vigilantes operating in the city." She informs him, glancing around the park, though they're at a set of tables that are unoccupied currently and nobody is really within ear shot. She looks back to him. "Not that many people know of it by name..."

Cain Marko has posed:
Cain smiles at her and says, "Harper. Cute. Blue hair. Ran into her a few times at some... social gatherings. Then one night she showed up drunk and yelling at me. Ended up letting some things slip." He glances down at her waist when she mentions the neutral implant, frowning. "I see. Rough stuff, that." He thinks of another person he knows in a wheelchair... that guy is a dick though. "Mmm. Yeah? Seems like you can't spit without hitting a group like that sometimes.... but Harper seems like a good enough kid, so I couldn't help wonderin if they're on the up and up. If you know about them I suppose so. Any idea who else might be in it?" He casually sets his hand on her back again with them both upright now. This time absently running a few fingers through her hair. Yeah, definitely personal boundary issues.

Barbara Gordon has posed:
Barbara watches him as he responds to her, giving a clear indication of who he's speaking of she nods her head softly once before he is up and moving toward her again. She tilts her head slightly before she nods it once. "Gotcha. Yeah. I know her. She's a good person. Glad to hear you've met another of Gotham's better sides." She says with a soft smile showing again for a brief moment.

She draws in a breath then, gathers up that bag off the arm of that metal chair and slips the strap over her shoulder.

"The Birds are a savior of many, or so I've heard." She adds with a little smirk then.

Cain Marko has posed:
Cain nods his head. "Mmhmm. That's good I guess. Maybe I'll run into more of them at some point. If you and Harper like 'em, they can't be too bad." He smiles down at her then says, "Anyway. I'll let you get back to whatever it is you were doin, Red. Take care of yourself." He gave her a pat, then turned to head back to the jogging path.
