Cast of Characters: Selina Kyle, Patsy Walker

Selina Kyle has posed:
The Rubin Museum of Art has a broad collection of works from many different periods, from the 2nd to the 20th centuries. There is some excitement this month, however, because the museum is one of many stops on the Tour of Cleopatra's Treasures.

Selina Kyle has always been a big fan of Egyptian art, mostly because of their ancient fascination with felines and Bast, the Cat Goddess. Dressed in casual chic, she is wearing a pencil skirt, matching jacket, a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses. The woman takes her time in the museum, but inevitably finds her way to the Egyptian exhibit.

She is being careful. After all, in spite of her discretion, the interest of a certain cat-burglar in feline pretties is quite well known in international circles.

Patsy Walker has posed:
What good is being an author and a socialite if one doesn't play the part once in a while?

Thinking about doing a story on the exhibit, Patsy Walker has made her way to the museum. She's gone professional today, though in her case it's reflected in canary yellow pantsuit with black, low-heeled shoes. A pair of cat-themed earrings are worn along with a plain necklace, but she goes without any headwear. All the better to show off her luscious red locks.

Tablet in hand, she's taking notes on various displays, snapping a few photos as well. Little by little, she ends up over by the Egyptian display as well.

Selina Kyle has posed:
There are plenty of feline images in the exhibit, from hieroglyphic panels to statues inlaid with jade, gold, and onyx. Plenty of distractions.

But not as distracting as the redhead wearing canary yellow. The raven-haired woman turns, lowering her shades to reveal big, green eyes. A few steps brings her closer, and there's a low purr in her voice. "My my, what lovely earrings." she offers, leaning in a little for a closer look. "Always nice to meet a fellow cat-lover."

Patsy Walker has posed:
Blue-gray eyes meet green, Patsy sizing up the black-haired woman, a brow sliding upward curiously at the sound to the woman's voice. "Well, hello there. You like them?" She tilts her head to allow a closer look. They're stylish silver and gold, a visage of a cat's head.

Then a hand is offered. "Patsy Walker. Author, detective, yadda yadda. And you are..?" She might have an idea already, but best not to play the best cards immediately. Sometimes word gets around, though.

Selina Kyle has posed:
Selina Kyle's shades lower a little more as she checks out the earrings more closely. "They're beautiful." she replies. The hand is accepted, and the black-haired woman is wearing light gloves that match the skirt and jacket.

"Very nice to meet you, Patsy. I'm Selina Kyle, philanthropist." She pauses, watching for a reaction. "But don't get the wrong idea. I don't have -so much- money that I don't know what to do with it."

Patsy Walker has posed:
"Is that a full-time job, 'philanthropist?'" Patsy wonders, a wry smile in place. Her hands are clear of any gloves or the like, the easier to do the 'work' side of what she's here for. "Or is it just a way to impress others beyond the obvious?" She gives a glance and a gesture toward the woman's form and attire, tucking her tablet in a coat pocket before resting her fingers at her stomach, interlocked together.

She adds, "I have a feeling we both came here for similar reasons, to see the Egyptian exhibit. I've heard you're quite into the feline-related pieces. I find them fascinating to think about, how the ancient Egyptians revered cats and all. I wonder how many tapestries they clawed up, or sheets of papyrus they shredded. You never see those on display."

Selina Kyle has posed:
Selina Kyle's eyes brighten and she chuckles, canting her head a little. "Some days it's more full-time than others." she replies. "And while I don't -try- to impress, it's so often a necessary byproduct."

Her gaze shifts to the exhibit, then, and she nods in agreement. "I have a few cats as pets, plus a couple of transients that come and go as they please. While mine are mostly well-behaved, they do have their challenging days." Another chuckle follows. "It seems my reputation preceeds me. Yes, I do have quite the soft spot for feline art. Guilty as charged."

Patsy Walker has posed:
Patsy Walker notes, "You are often photographed at soirees, balls, masquerades and all, so I'd say you've developed a bit of a reputation in certain circles as one who appreciates a particular sort of style." She indicates Selina with a nod, "And why not look good in the process? After all, that's half the game right there, seeing how many eyes one can draw."

Small talk. "A question, then. Do you believe the saying that you don't own a cat, a cat owns you? That they choose who they want to be with and you can't make them do what they don't want to? I think there's a lot to that, especially compared to dogs."

Selina Kyle has posed:
Selina Kyle lifts a dark brow at that. "Well, darling, don't believe everything you see in the society pages." Red lips pull into a coy smile at the question, and she nods slowly. "Cats are certainly creatures all their own. In fact, I could make the case that they are better company than people. At least than some people. If a cat likes you, then it likes you unconditionally. If not? Then there's not a lot you can do to change their mind."

"Some people are like that as well. They like you so long as you're feeding them fish or giving them money or decorating the headlines."

Patsy Walker has posed:
"Give them a way to justify their jobs, and they'll love you. It doesn't even have to be good news, just news," Patsy says, nodding once to the description of a cat's love - or hate. "And some of them only have one person they'll take to. Others will take any attention they can get. Then there are the ones who only seem to go for people who hate them. They're complicated, complex."

She waves it off, directing her attention back toward a statue of Bast. "Was there any one thing here you wanted to see the most?"

Selina Kyle has posed:
Selina Kyle follows that gesture, removing the shades entirely now. Her gaze shifts to the various depictions of Bast and she gestures with her glasses. "I do rather like the use of gold inlay on the onyx for Bast, don't you? Especially the emerald eyes. Egyptians often put collars on their cats, but Bast is never depicted with one. Think that's a coincidence?"

Selina considers for a moment, then looks to the redhead. "What about you, my fellow cat-lover? Does anything in particular hear tickle your fancy?"

Patsy Walker has posed:
Patsy Walker muses, "Well, it takes a certain demeanor for a cat to accept a collar, doesn't it? But who tries to collar a god? That sounds foolish to me." Out comes the tablet so she can get a couple angles of the one Selina is focused on, putting it away again. "I'll have to write about the details on this one. Fine work."

Rather than giving Selina a more direct answer to her own question, she plays it coy and even gives a wink. "Are we still talking about the exhibits, or something else?" Before too much of a response can be offered, a ringtone results in her fishing a phone out of her other pocket, a few familiar notes from 'Stray Cat Strut' heard before she answers, pausing in spots.

"Hello? Yes. I'm busy right now. Yes, at the museum. Talking to someone. You wouldn't believe who. Maybe you would. Look, it's not the best time. I'm trying not to be rude. Really? Well, when you put it that way. Give me a moment."

She hangs up the phone and does the apologetic thing. "Selina, I'm so terribly sorry to cut things short, but there's something I need to look into and I simply /cannot/ put it off. You understand, I hope?"

Selina Kyle has posed:
Selina Kyle cocks her hip to the left, gesturing with her right hand upturned. "Exactly. Who would have the -audacity- to try and collar a goddess?" She notes Patsy taking the photos, but doesn't remark on it. Selina will get her own photos later.

Red lips pull into a small smile at the ringtone, waiting politely for the conversation to finish. "Oh that's quite alright, Patsy. It's been wonderful meeting you, and I do hope we cross paths again. You've certainly added -color- to my visit, I daresay even brightening the exhibits themselves."

With that, Selina replaces the shades and pulls them up. "Ciao, darling. Or should I say... meow."
