Date of Scene: 12 May 2023
Location: Library - Happy Harbor High School
Synopsis: Irie and Billy Reconnect
Cast of Characters: Billy Batson, Irie West

Billy Batson has posed:
Finals week! All he needs is to ace one more final to graduate and avoid the Tartarus of summer school. Unfortunately, that one test is trig. Billy hates trig. He's pretty sure neither he nor Shazam will need trigonometry. Heck, Sunny, his main squeeze graduated and shows no sign of needing it. Billy closes the book and rubs his eyes, stuck in the library basement. Plus he needs to get a topic for next week's show. The Magic Word is not going to stream itself! Oh and he should patrol Happy Harbor. There was some bad mojo here. He could feel it. He rubrubrubs his eyes some more.

Irie West has posed:
Irie comes into the library laden with a backpack full of books. She sets it down on the table near Billy with a heavy *thud* and then slumps into the chair across from him. "Uggggggggggghhhhhh...." she moans. "Finals. I hate finals." This coming from a girl whose GPA is well over 3.5. "And my teachers want me to 'study properly'" she says with the air quotes. "Meaning no powers. It takes forever to study! How am I supposed to have any fun afterwards when it takes all day!" She folds her arms with a grump, not moving to open up her backpack yet.

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson peeks over his hands. He visibly brightens when he sees the normally bubbly redhead sitting near him. Then in a mock excited, overly dramatic tone he announces, "Look! There goes Captain Boomerang! Go get him!" He points helpfully. He figures you can't startle a Flash. Quick witted to say the least. "Hey you. Long time no see."

Irie West has posed:
Irie whirls around, "What?! Where?!" Seeing as there isn't, in fact, a Captain Boomerang she deflates a little bit. "Aw, nuts. I was hoping for a distraction. Yeah. Been busy with school and being a Titan and stuff. How about you?"

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson laces his fingers behind his head and leans back. "Well I had my show pulled off one streaming service for daring to have a Mutant 'activist' on it. I got another streaming service and I moved it into Shaw Studios -where Mike Hannigan works? Uhm I got a studio apartment back in Queens near the family and currently I have one final between me and graduation. Trig. Hey sorry about the Captain Boomerang remark... do you think Kid Flash would give me an interview? I already had Julie Powers. She was great." He looks at the Trig for Dummies book with a grunt.

"Hey... there's a question... what is the deal with Captain Boomerang? You guys run at the speed of light and he messes with the Flash OG by throwing sticks!!"

Irie West has posed:
"Really? That //sucks//," Irie says with a scowl. "There's nothing wrong with mutants. Can you sue them or something? That feels like it should be against the law." Her eyes light up, however when Mike is mentioned. "Oh, Mike? Yeah, I know him! He hangs out with the Titans from time to time. He's a cool guy."

Her eyes go wide at the offer to be on Billy's show. "Really? You'd interview //me//? I mean... sure! Why not? I live a pretty cool and exciting life when I'm not studying for finals."

She shrugs. "He's just //really/ good at boomerangs, you know? And we don't run at the speed of light. I think Barry got close once, but we really have to be pushing ourselves. I might have done it, once, when my powers went haywire and sent me to the past."

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson pats Irie on the shoulder. "Why not? You're a Titan, a Flash, and a very charismatic person. I bet you'd double my tips. I'm a good interviewer, I manage to get people to relax. Being a Titan... always wanted to be a Titan... " He abruptly realizes why he's saying and shuts up. Irie kind of makes him relax. Gingers do that ever since Angelica. "Ahuh... I got a driver's license too." Smooth Bill, really smooth.

Irie West has posed:
Irie just nods as if //everybody// would want to be a Titan, powered or not. "Yeah. It's pretty cool. They really took me in when I first showed up, and was out of place. They're kind of my family, now." Her gaze turns a little wistful. "I still miss my actual family out in the future, though. I hate that if I had the opportunity to go back, I'd be trading one family for another."

She's jerked out of her reverie at the revelation that Billy got his drivers license. "Really? Cool! I should get one because Donna won't let me fly the T-Jet until I do but... I just never saw the point, you know? Not when I can get to wherever I want in a matter of minutes. You know. For really long distances."

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson nods at that. "well, a car has air conditioning, and you can play tunes, and you can check your GPS. Do you ever get lost running around. It's really easy if you're flying. Everything sort of looks the same. Dang it." He shuts up again. "I'd be glad to teach you to drive. It's more relaxing than f... getting there on your own. Except in Brooklyn. Avoid Brooklyn."

Irie West has posed:
Irie may be clueless at times but she narrows her eyes when Billy slips up. "Do you fly airplanes, too?" she asks. Nope. Still clueless. "That's neat! And I get lost all the time, yeah. It's why I make sure to plot my course before hand on my phone. The good thing about going superspeed is that it only takes a second to find your way around a place."

Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson looks around and finds the basement. Deserted. "Mmmm Irie, I was going to let you in on a secret, when we were sorta palling around... and I never did and life happened. I'd like you to keep my secret... and possibly introduce you to some friends. Don't be scared." He gets up and steps back then has a final look around.

"Shazam!" There is a flash of lightning and a quick clap of thunder. Not Flash lightning either.

Irie West has posed:
"Uh, Billy? Why are you taking me into the basement?" Irie asks hesitantly. She knows she still kinda has a crush on him, but, still, this may be a little too much. She listens to him tell her about a secret and she nods. "I'm good with secrets." Except for when it comes to Cats II. "It's okay. Hardly anything scares me."

Then there's LIGHTNING IN THE BASEMENT! Irie jumps back with a little "EEP!" blinking rapidly and shaking her head to get rid of the afterimage of the lightning bolt and the ringing in her ears. Once she can see again, her eyes go wide as she sees none other than Shazam in front of her. "Coooooooooool!"
