A first date
Date of Scene: 09 June 2023
Location: Breakstone Lake
Synopsis: The first date turns out to be a picnic, and reveals that Evan can apparently cook. The weather is perfect, as is the date.
Cast of Characters: Evan Sabahnur, Eabha Aine

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Encouraged by the fact that Eabha Aine enjoyed hanging out with him, Evan takes the next step and asks her out on a date. With her agreement, he's given some thought to what the date will involve. After a couple days of study, he's ready. Most of the morning is spent in the kitchen making preparations before he heads up to her room and knocks on the door. With Eabha in tow, he takes a course back down into the kitchen where he picks up an actual honest-to-god picnic basket and continues out the back door and onto the grounds.

He guides Eabha down to the lake and around it a bit, finally coming to a nice flat spot he had previously picked out. Putting the basket down, he opens it and pulls out a picnic blanket and gets her help spreading it out.

"I thought about it for a while, and I realized that you've probably been about everywhere you could possibly think of, so I wasn't about to impress you with anywhere I could take you. And so instead, I went with the personal touch. Spent a couple days learning some recipes and making stuff, and here we are."

The day he chose is actually perfect, not too hot or cold, no wind other that a very slight breeze that keeps things pleasant without blowing things away. One might think he had possibly bribed a certain teacher to make this day just right.

Eabha Aine has posed:
It had been a while since Eabha Aine had gone on a date, almost a year ago to be exact. Marshel hadn't been worth it, but Aine had wanted to 'give the guy a chance'. The date had ended with Marshel breaking his arm when the parkour jump he was attempting failed, and the video of it was still playing over and over on the internet... thanks to Eabha of course

Evan was different in all the ways that mattered, even Aine would admit that now. So the prospect of a date had them decked out in a cotton spaghetti strap summer dress with a floral pattern, a pair of strap up the ankle sandals, and sun screen to protect their rather ivory looking skin. Their hair was pulled up into a loose wrap on their head, with several flowers tucked into the auburn locks as decoration and of course their make-up was on point because anything else would be scandalous.

Following Evan out to the lake, they begins to debate if was a picnic on a boat on the lake or near the shore, and when it turns out to be a picnic near the shore their face lights up with a bright grin. They were worried about his comments regarding impressing them, but then they realized that that was how guys were... they wanted to impress the females in one way or another. Even the twins weren't certain how to explain to Evan that he was already the single most impressive and amazing person they knew.

"That is so sweet Evan, we love picnics!" they replied, helping him spread out the blanket. "And this weather is perfect for sitting out in the open... but we have to admit, we're /really/ interested to know what you made."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
"I went with a couple options after looking up some typical picnic foods. Stuff my parents and I ate when camping out was not so much for enjoyment as keeping strength up while caving." He reaches into the basket and starts pulling things out and placing them neatly on the blanket.

"I've got a pasta salad and a mixed fruit plate to start, mozzarella, red pepper and bacon skewers as well as devilled eggs as a sort of nibbling kind of course, and then a whole roasted chicken so you can choose the parts you like." At this point he's got the food laid out and places some plates and utensils out as well.

"It's a lot, but I know that you're not one of those models who recoil in fear of actual food." He grins and continues "And I obviously don't think we'll come close to eating everything, but I wanted some options. Oh! Almost forgot the drink." He pulls a pitcher and glasses from the basket and puts them down as well. "Lemonade with fresh berries floating in it, I think it makes for a nice taste."

Eabha Aine has posed:
Settling themselves onto the blanket, and folding their legs up carefully, Eabha Aine gets themselves perfectly comfortable. They watch intently as each item appears from the basket, and listen as Evan explains the food which causes then to actually licks their lips in anticipation.

"First off, we'll eat anything. You do in fact have that part right, we aren't prissy models," they explain with a chuckle. "We get why they do that, but we don't."

Scooting things on the blanket so there is plenty of room for everything he sets out. "Second, we LOVE chicken, doesn't really matter which type of meat white or dark, we'll devour it. In fact, there isn't a thing you listed we won't eat, so... pasta salad and fruit plate to start."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
"Yeah, I pretty much figured that, we've had enough meals together for me to see you eat like an actual person. You must have a good metabolism, since I don't see you working out ten hours a day to keep in shape. You're lucky that way I guess. Maybe it's because there's two of you in there, maybe Aine is hitting the gym mentally while Eabha is having dinner." He grins and scoops up a portion of the salad for himself.

"Fortunately I already knew how to cook, so it was just a matter of getting a few recipes down instead of a whole new subject. As I mentioned, most of the food I knew was fairly basic, we didn't do a lot of entertaining or fancy stuff at home."

He's quiet for a minute as he eats some of the salad, then says "I'm glad the weather held, it's like primo picnic weather. All I needed was to set all this up and then have it rain today." A sip of the lemonade washes down the salad, then he picks up on of the skewers. "Give one of these a shot, I think they came out really well. The way it's made cuts the spice of the red pepper a bit so it's more pleasant then 'mouth on fire'." He holds it out to her.

Eabha Aine has posed:
A scoop of the pasta salad is put on the plate, followed by a few pieces of the fruit, and a deviled egg and one of the bacon, pepper, mozzarella things as well. Then Eabha Aine leans to take a bite of the one Evan offered, not a huge one mind you, and while chewing, they pour two glasses of the lemonade, making certain to shake it and get berries into each glass.

"It's actually part of our mutation," they state once they've swallowed. "And OMG, those peppers are to DIE for... we mean, major compliments to the chef on those.. I love spicy, Aine does not... so she's whining."

Taking a drink of the freshly poured beverage, they set the plate in their lap. "We have no idea how to cook," they then admit with a soft sigh. "We've learned a large number of things, but cooking isn't one of them. We think it's partly due to that part of the mutation. We can eat the worst foods on the planet constantly... frozen meals, canned things, deep fried yumminess, and it doesn't effect our body or build at all. However..." they take a nibble of the pepper from their own plate and hold it in their cheek for a moment to say, "We might need to learn to make things like this cause YUM." then begin chewing again.

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
"If the burn is too bad for either of you, eat some of the pasta salad. It's not quite the same as milk, but the mayo should help with the capsaicin." He pops the remainder of the bacon pepper into his mouth. "And if you want to learn to cook, I'd be happy to teach you. Apparently I can manage kind of fancy stuff as well as more generic food."

He goes quiet for a minute, eating a bit more food, then looks over at her. "I was kind of wondering something, and I hope I can phrase it right. So there's the two of you in there, I get that. I've been around for a couple of your self-debates. But in general conversation, hanging out and all, how do you girls decide who's talking and doing stuff? Do you take turns, or switch off on alternate days or something? I guess I'm kind of trying to figure out who I'm talking to at any given moment. Doesn't bother me, of course, but I was just kind of curious to know."

Eabha Aine has posed:
Eabha had already started to nibble on the salad a little to appease Aine, though the grin remained on their face through it. The mental teasing from one to the other remained, as the heat was really not bad at all, Aine was just a pansy, an thus the teasing.

They were going to talk about learning to cook more, but the question Evan asked changed the topic in a way that caused them both to have to think. "Most of the time I do the talking, me being Eabha," she says, gesturing to herself with their right hand. "Aine is... well she's kind of shy, but if she wants to say something, we agree on it and she does, or she can have full control if she wants it."

That part was the easiest part to explain, the rest, well that was going to take a lot of words. "It's actually kind of difficult to explain," they continue, chewing a little at the right side of their bottom lip. "There are differences between us. How we think, what we like and don't like. I play guitar, Aine plays piano, but because we have been like this a while, we've just gotten into the habit of snap decisions. Short hand conversations that lead to a quick decision on who will handle a situation."

Pausing there, they take another drink of the lemonade while having a short discussion between them on if there was any other way to explain things. "Did that help or... did we fail to answer part of the questions? We don't mind you asking, at all... so please do."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan thinks about it for a moment. "No, I think that covers the basics pretty well. I'll probably start to recognize the differences between you two the longer we spend time together. There's really no substitute for experience, especially in getting to know people. And Aine, please speak up if you feel the need to, you don't need to be shy around me. I'm hoping that we'll all be spending a good amount of time with each other, so I don't want you to feel pushed aside or anything."

Finishing off his salad, he looks at the chicken, then the girls, and says "I have serving utensils, or you can rip off what you want by hand, it's all the same to me." He pulls a knife and serving fork out of the basket then looks over at them. "Time to choose, civilized or savage?" He grins at them as he awaits their decision.

Eabha Aine has posed:
Finishing off the deviled egg, Eabha Aine takes another sip of lemonade before eyeing the chicken. "The easiest way to tell who is in control is by which hand acts first," they explain. "There is also differences to the our voices, they're just really... slight differences, we were identical after all."

At this moment Evan gets to witness what can only be described as self abuse. Their left hand, Aine, reaches up and smacks the right side of their face, "We were conjoined Eabha, not identical."

"Hey, that hurt! You want chicken or not!" Eabha responds, using her right hand to move the left hand back down. "We were identical that conjoined, happy?"

A nod and they look back at Evan. "That help at all?" Eabha asks him then starts laughing, because normally they would contain all that.

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan smirks for a moment, then laughs and says, "Ok, there's a bit of the difference coming out now, yeah. It's actually kind of fun to watch, although neither of you should hit yourselves. That sort of thing is out of style these days. I suppose it's kind of hard to put just one of you in timeout though."

Since he distracted them from the chicken question with his inquiry about the two of them, he starts to slice the chicken, taking off a leg, wing and portion of breast meat in a couple neat slices. "We'll go with civilized on the first date, I think. Besides, savage could get chicken juices on that dress, and you look too pretty in it to mess it up."

Eabha Aine has posed:
The internal debate continues, even if Eabha Aine don't show it any more. It was a constant really, something the two have grown accustomed to.

"It was more of a demonstration than real abuse," they explain with a giggle. "Though she did hit a little harder than we agreed on." She would glare at her sister if she could, but Eabha will settle for the tone she used in her head.

"Right, shoot, sorry!" they suddenly blurt out, realizing they didn't answer about the chicken. "Slices are best, we need to appear dainty after all." A fake batting of eye lashes is offered before the giggle fit hits and robs them of saying anything else for a moment or two.

Once they've regained control of themself, they ask, "Oh, you like this one? It's not green, our signature color, but the leaves make up for that and the blue and pink flowers? Who can resist that? It has a belt, but we decided to go for comfort."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
"Not a problem, I had asked a kind of complex question." He slices up a bit more breast meat so there's enough for all of them. Whatever he did to the chicken, it worked. It's not dry at all, which can sometimes be hard to avoid on the white meat.

"I'm a fan of comfort, personally. And yeah, I do like it. Well, on you, anyway. Not something I'd pick out for myself or anything." He grins a bit as he jokes. "But honestly, you two tend to look great in anything you wear. I think maybe it's because of the comfort thing. I don't think I've seen you wear anything uncomfortable just because it's (air quotes) stylish. Too many people strap themselves into portable torture devices just because they have the right name on them, it's a little weird to me."

Eabha Aine has posed:
They take a bit of both breast meat and thigh meat, perhaps to appease each of them or maybe they just want both.

"We've spent a number of hours in uncomfortable with the modeling," Eabha Aine says after taking another deviled egg to go with the chicken. "Some of the outfits we've worn are just seriously wrong, not the kind of thing anyone should wear, but they do. High fashion and all that malarkey."

The white meat is tried first, and that forces them to remain silent as they savior just how good it is while chewing. Only once they've swallowed do they continue. "We also spent a part of our childhood in whatever could be fashioned to cover the two of us, so now we choose comfortable or at least sensible."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan nods, "Yeah, I more meant the stuff you choose. On the job you get told what to wear and how to wear it since you're basically advertising the clothes, so there's no personal choice there. I've looked at some of the haute couture shows and such on the net, and yeah, nobody would wear those things ever. Hell, some of them wouldn't be legal to wear in a number of countries, exposing the so-called 'naughty bits'."

He considers a moment, then asks, "Now that I'm actually talking to someone in the business, maybe you can explain it to me. What the hell is the point of making hideous clothes that nobody will ever actually wear? I mean is it to make their normal branded clothes look so much better in comparison that people will rush to buy them before the haute couture is all that's left?"

Eabha Aine has posed:
"Truth? It's all about the designer." Eabha Aine begins. "It started as normal fashion, clothing that the rich would wear and then we think someone got clubbed in the head like a baby seal and the entire point changed." They offer up a slight shrug and a half grin.

"We don't know when it started or why, but it became about the designers right to 'express their creativity' and then show it to the world, but you're right. There is only ever one of whatever the model is wearing, which is sold off to be a prize like a painting or sculptor." They snorts softly. "Thankfully we do not do that sort of runway modeling."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
He nods, "I can sort of understand it, but I'm still not sure how making something ugly and uncomfortable is supposed to show that they're world class designers. You'd think with a chance to just show off, they'd go the 'that's wonderful' route instead of 'quick, hide it before someone sees it.' But what do I know, I'm just an American teenager and everyone knows we have no tact or taste."

Glancing into the basket, he then reaches in and pulls out a final container. "Oh yeah, made dessert too. I found this peach crumb bar recipe, and it seemed like it would be light enough to finish off a picnic with." He opens the container and sets it down on the blanket beside the other food. He shrugs a little and adds, "I may have gone a bit overboard, but it's our first date. It called for a little overboard, I think."

Eabha Aine has posed:
"There are some seriously coveted paintings out there that are utter trash," Eabha Aine states with a chuckle. "But some people still find them amazing, wonderful, worth every million to purchase merely because they were painted by someone with a big name. Fashion like that is the same, but I agree that they should go with something a person can actually wear so that it can be out there and seen."

As the peach crumble bars are added to the collection of food, Evan gets stared at for a moment with two emerald green eyes. "We never told you that peaches were our favorite fruit, so you just totally nailed that without even trying... and we don't think you went over board at all."

Leaning closer for a moment, a quick, soft kiss is placed on Evan's cheek. "It's all perfect."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Yes, Evan can blush even with grey skin, it's just a darkening rather than going red. He keeps it mostly under control and just smiles, replying "I'm glad. I was hoping you'd like this." He chuckles and adds, "I mean, you started out by buying me a Corvette, I had to do something special here and I knew expensive wasn't the way to catch your attention, O rich girl. Totally got lucky on the peach thing though, so that's a nice surprise for both of us."

He starts putting the stuff from the beginning of the meal back into the basket, fitting everything in neatly. "And I was glad to find they still make actual picnic baskets, gives it just the right feel, I think." He may be a touch ocd, or just organized, but everything fits back in very neatly. Standing, he gets her help folding the blanket, then that gets put on top of the rest. With a smile, he reaches out to take her hand for the walk back to the school.

Eabha Aine has posed:
Before Evan begins the clean up process, Eabha Aine gets him to hold still for a selfie of them together, then they kiss him on the cheek one more time. "Peaches are number one, blackberries are number two. It's one of the only things we agree on." They state, then put their phone back into the pocket of the dress. "Money isn't everything, and we get that saying that might be perceived as ironic given we have money... but we're more than willing to give away large sums to charity, so long as we both agree on that charity."

When he starts packing up, they help, but one of the peach crumble bars gets wrapped in a napkin and stashed in their pocket. They will be eating that later with a glass of milk. Watching as he makes everything fit perfectly, they wonder if there isn't some OCD in Evan, but they both find it adorable when he comments about the basket.

"We'll have to do this again some time," they state as they take his hand and begin walking with him. "Perhaps you can teach us to cook something and we'll enjoy it outdoors, or if we fail horribly, order a pizza and sit at a table in the back yard."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan laughs and answers "Anytime you like, it's not that hard once you get a couple basics down. I think you'll manage it pretty well, you've got the two of you to remember all the steps to take. Well, at least until you start arguing over them. Then I hide the knives." He winks and continues the stroll back to the school.

    Today was a perfect day.
