Guess who I invited for lunch
Date of Scene: 23 June 2023
Location: R and D Labs: Triskelion
Synopsis: Daisy brings a very special guest to have lunch at the labs with Jemma.
Cast of Characters: Daisy Johnson, Jemma Simmons, Blackagar Boltagon

Daisy Johnson has posed:
So it was that once again Daisy was coming over to the labs for what is her usual drop-by with takeout food for one Jemma Simmons. Just in case the scientist forgets to have lunch. Of course that today was a /tad/ different. First because she had actually sent a message announcing she was going:

>> Hey, you at the lab? Going for our lunch!

And the second reason:

>> I am bringing a guest!

So suspicious.

The guest being Blackagar, Daisy having messaged him for them to meet at the entrance to the SHIELD's HQ. She was now leading them in, carrying a bag full of food and a Blackagar on tow. "Figure it was high time we all met and figured out what to do." she tells Blackagar, pressing the button that opens the door to the lab where Jemma most likely is in.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
>> Of course I am in the lab.

It was a silly question to ask Jemma. She has been in the lab for a great deal of time lately. With the occasion foray to London or elsewhere, Jemma has been head's down in the lab. Partly to research...and mostly to avoid social interaction.

Which...Daisy knows. Hence the need for bringing lunch. But the guest part?

Yes, that was new. And potentially worrisome.

Should she bother to tidy up? Not Jemma's station, of course. She is the very definition of 'prim and proper'. But the other stations? Not so much. Oh well, she isn't the Lab Mother. They can clean their own workstations.

Of course, Jemma does take a little bit of time to straighten her area. Just in case.

Blackagar Boltagon has posed:
Broken? No.

Bent to the point of breaking? ... Probably.

The months(?) have not been good for Blackagar, not since that day. He has been absent in many things, hard to find or reach. What does someone in the throes of grief do when the normal remedies simply do not apply? That in itself is the true question, and where he had been hiding. However, drug from the reclusion that he was in by Daisy, Blackagar trudges not far behind the woman.

His appearance is far from kingly; jeans and a shirt under a worn jacket. Days worth of beard on his cheeks and a definitive distance to his blue eyes.

If Jemma took the time to straighten her lab, it was clearly for naught as the Inhuman hasn't spent the time to straighten himself. It is easy to mistake him as any of the other faceless people passing the streets of the city, except for his arrival to when Daisy asked him to meet; the descent from the sky really is not the usual manner of travel for others (or him in that manner) so minute is his concern at present.

~I was taking a nap,~ he signs before following Daisy to the lab.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Taking naps and then getting fed?" Daisy casts a look over her shoulder at the bearded Blackagar, "If I didn't know better I would say you are turning into a cat." the hacker inserting a little levity into it. Yes, she knew why Blackagar was the way he was right now. She had gone through her own grief, but she had found a hope of finding Jane too and that had spurred her forward.

And besides, it's not like you could keep a Daisy from seeking the sun for long.

Daisy makes her way in and smiles fondly at Jemma. "Hey, hope you don't mind I brought someone.." she gesturing with the bag towards Blackagar, "Taking him out of his reclusive ways and such..., and .., to also talk about what we have discovered." a knowing look shared with Jemma.

Bags are placed on the counter. And yes, it's chinese takeout of course. From the Royal Dragon.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
There might have been a bit of trepidation as the door opens. After all, Daisy likes her surprises...and Jemma likes to know. So, surprises are not usually Jemma's cup of tea. But, the anxiety dissipates mostly as she sees that it is Blackagar coming with Daisy, rather than some other unknown variable. And...the nervousness dies down somewhat for Jemma. "Oh...hello to you both."

There is still a little anxiety. Not much, but present. Because of the shared experiences with Jane. But yes...that can be dealt with later.

It is almost tangible the shift. The putting away of not exactly pleasant thoughts to put on a brave face. If there was ever a poster girl for 'Keep Calm and Carry On', it would be Jemma.

"Right....what we have discovered." A glance to the bags. "And I see our favorite takeout. This should prove a most engaging discussion."

Blackagar Boltagon has posed:
With the bags set down, Blackagar slowly reaches over and crooks a finger into one to open just a little and eye the contents with curiosity. A small nod of approval comes as he steps away to a nearby stool and sits on it, reaching down to press a button on the watch he wears.

"Reclusion is nice," the robotic voice that translates his signing hands into audible words speaks, lacking emotion in the tone (although it may fit his demeanor at present). "It is good to see that both of you are doing well. I should have checked on you sooner, but I ..."

But he's been in no state to.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Yes. I got us the JJ special." Is Daisy talking about the Jessica Jones special? The one with bourbon? Well ...., it certainly might be an interesting conversation.

She starts digging into the bags to get the food out, pausing when she hears that robotic voice. She eyes Blackagar, blinking once as she clearly didn't expect that, "Nice one, who created it? You should met me have a look and ...." a pause and, "Sorry, well, it's good that you have one of those." she smiles faintly, then looks at Jemma, "The shards..." followed by a glance over to one side where she knows they are being kept.

"If there's people you don't have to justify yourself with is us, Blackagar." she tells the King in a genuine manner. "But you know we are here for whenever you need us. But right now it's us that need you, or in this case maybe your expertise."

And Daisy then uses her own expertise of getting that food distributed between them.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"Oh, that."

Is Jemma referring to the shards or to the special? She doesn't answer immediately, though. Partly because the robotic voice catches her off-guard, too. "That is a new device. I didn't anticipate that. You are making it far too easy for me, you know, Blackagar." Considering Jemma could follow the sign language on its own, it is making it easier. There is a smile that is flashed just for the Inhuman king...and then Jemma's eyes flicker over to the same spot that Daisy went to.

"Oh yes, the shards."

"Our sentient shards that have their own consciousness. Well...your collection and my collection. Both distinct, but similar. And, apparently, composed of an alloy rather similar to uru." No, Jemma isn't just sharing info to share. More, it seems that she is reciting what she remembers as a sort of a mental reboot. "Yes, that is a rather unique development, isn't it?"

Blackagar Boltagon has posed:
Blackagar looks at Daisy, a bit of an amused look momentarily showing in his expression and eyes, "The base idea was already in existence, just a few modifications to pick up my specific hand motions." The voice is still quite bland and a touch British, a Pierce Brosnan quality to it. "I do not think my voice actually sounds like this." He adds as an after thought.

Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out a small device, about the size of a altoid container and tosses it to Daisy so she can inspect the device before he continues. "What expertise do you mean? I'm not entirely sure I'm an expert in anything at present." He accepts a plate of food when offered.

There is a very distinct silence that follows then the movement of a sigh (silently done) comes, "I have encountered the same, during a meteor storm outside of Attilan."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Daisy catches the device, turning it in her fingers as she nods at Blackagar's explanation on what it does. She eventually hands it over to Jemma in case she wants to check it out. "I totally imagine you sounding like that ..., well, maybe just a little less robotic. But that can be worked on." she muses, pursing her lips together, thoughtful.

With the focus then going to the shards she nods a couple of times at Jemma's explanation all until Blackagar announces he found similar shards of his own. "Ahah!" she points at Blackagar as if expecting it already. "I knew it. The shards went close to those people closer to Jane. Or in this case what the Undrjarn perceived as those closer to her. I can't explain how but I believe we are talking about the various facets of the entity that was hammer. When it shattered it spread into these pieces." she pauses.

"You have talked to it, haven't you?" she asks of Blackagar.

Jemma Simmons has posed:
The device is caught...cradled in both hands as Jemma pulls it up to inspect. It is a marvel...and something that Fitz would most certainly like to see, but Jemma knows enough to know how it works and appreciate the mechanics of its primary function. She hands over the translator back to Blackagar with little fanfare. Although, Jemma adds. "I can ask Fitz to make it more personable. Even give you a selection of voices, if you like. Though, do not ask me to pick. Otherwise you might end up sounding like David Tennant." Because of course Doctor Who fan.

In regards to the shards, well Jemma has a bit more for her own part. "Hmm...my set did not exactly come close to me. I ended up finding them at the Playground. In Delaware. I wouldn't necessarily call a late night 3 hour drive or so 'close'." There might have been a laugh there. At the very least a wry little smile.

"Did it give you a name, too? I would imagine it seemed terribly depressed, as well."

Blackagar Boltagon has posed:
Blackagar signs with his hands, "I may take you up on that. However, I am only intending to use it around select people. Those who do not need the silent presence to remind them of certain things." A small smile appears, briefly. "You would be surprised how the intimidation of silence can alleviate situations."

He is about to take a bite of food then but finally sets the plate down, presuming that he'll have to wait until he finishes the thoughts. "Yes, it spoke to me. Mysteries and rhymes, things that I did not have the headspace for when it came to me. Even now... I struggle with grief." Understatement.

"Mine was... frantic. Insistent. That there was a way to retrieve the soul. I will admit I was intrigued, for we have a body lacking a soul. The probability of this, if you consider it. One soul for two bodies, and one of those bodies is destroyed."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Mine wasn't depressed." Daisy says with a shake of her head, "Was more like a sulky teenager, stubborn and angry that she lost." it making the hacker purse her lips together, "Might be we are all watching different facets of the hammer. Which means we should join them." she suggests, looking between them.

"And from then maybe we can remake Undrjarn." She smiling faintly at the mention of a soul, "Yes, we have the body. It only means we have to find where her soul is. Well, easier said than done but it means hope isn't lost. And there's meaning to these fragments.."

Looking at Jemma she chuckles, "Mine just crashed through my window, and over Hell's Kitchen. Yea, went around the neighborhood picking the pieces up."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
"Well, my collection seemed rather sullen. Though, it could have been reflecting my emotional state at the time." Jemma shrugs as she reaches for a bit of food. Yes, she just admitted she was not in the best of mindsets at the time. "But, yes, after testing my shards and Daisy's, there was little doubt that they are from the same source. I would imagine yours are as well, Blackagar."

Reforging Undrjarn gets a curious expression. "While I agree that we should attempt to remake Undrjarn, so that at the very least the consciousness within is made whole, I do not know if it is possible with our present resources. Short of asking for Asgardian aid, I am not sure if we can reconstruct what is considered a magical artifact. We simply do not have complete understanding of the construction methods. And...I don't know about you, but I do not know of any mystical acquaintances that would be willing or able to assist with this."

A pause. "But yes...we do need to restore Jane's soul to her body. From what I remember, Grani mentioned something about Hel? Perhaps Jane's soul is there?"

Blackagar Boltagon has posed:
"A reflection of emotions is feasible. As I have had a substantial amount of anger," Blackagar affirms to Jemma's theory. He doesn't delay in eating at least an eggroll since that still let's him have general movement of his hands.

When Hel is mentioned, a sharp look comes from Blackagar and he nods slowly, "That is what I was informed by my shards as well, that the soul is in Hel. I have..." He pauses, "I have been exploring possibilities of going there. Looking at various access points on Earth and in other locations."

It is the Blackagar way, just casually stroll in to Hel and demand something. "What connection would the Undrjarn reforging have with needing to enter Hel, are the two not mutually exclusive?"

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Well, I know a few magical people..." Give it to Daisy to have friends EVERYWHERE. But then again she's always had a penchant for making them. She even got Fitzsimmons out of their shells! "Though I agree it'd be hard for us to be able to actually reforge it. We can always talk with the Asgardians, I think Loki still owe us one ...? Or three?" she pops some food into her mouth and then quirks a brow.

"Wait ..., are you implying I am the sulky, angry teenager..?" Daisy folds her arms in an annoyed manner, "Because I am nothing like that..." nothing at all! Hmph.

"but anyway, as for actually going to Hel Asgardians are the ones to reach out to. They have their ways to traverse the realms from what I understand. As for reforging it, all depends on how connected it is to Jane's soul. Maybe retrieving it is the catalyst to reforge the artifact?" she shakes her head. "But I know next to nothing about magic."

Jemma Simmons has posed:
Going to other realms? That might be a little outside Jemma's wheelhouse. And, she states as such. "Well, I am sure there are far better people than I am that can go to other realms to look for souls. I mean, I was practically useless when we first had to hunt down Jane. The only reason I was able to find her at all was because of the particular energy signature of her bracelet, err, I mean Undrjarn." There is a shrug as Jemma pokes at her takeout. "I have little chance to find a soul. Especially in the Norse version of the Underworld. You would be far better off with someone that travels in those particular circles."

Well...at least Jemma hasn't written off magic, like she normally would. But...she does have a point. At least, in her view. She is not a magic person. There might be better resources to help with this.

As far as the sulky teenager? Well, Jemma isn't saying anything...but the slight smile is enough. Perhaps there is more to the point that the shard reflect the finder's emotional state.

As far as reconstruction....Jemma might have an idea on that. "Well, if it is just a physical reconstruction, then surely any engineer would suffice. It is more the metaphysical aspects that concern me. Short of asking Afroth itself, I do not know how we might be able to make it...no, her...whole." Jemma just slips into using the name that her particular shard collection used. Afroth.

It becomes apparent that Jemma has had placed a lot of thought on the matter.
