Profile
One of the youngest cadets ever to join SHIELD Academy, Jemma Simmons is one of the best scientific minds that SHIELD has to offer. If only most of her work wasn't highly classified, she might be known as one of the best scientific minds the world has to offer. Dedicated not only to the pursuit of science and uncovering all the mysteries it holds, Jemma is also a fiercely loyal friend who will do whatever it takes to protect those she holds dear.
Timeline
Timeline:
*1995 - Jemma Anne Simmons was born to a pair of lovely and average couple in Sheffield, England.
*2012 - Due to her genius level intelligence and love of science, especially biochemistry, Jemma accelerates through schooling and graduates college with a pair of PhDs' in biochemistry. Jemma actively seeks out and volunteers to join SHIELD's Academy of Science and Technology, because SHIELD has the resources to answer the questions Jemma has in her research. In her first year, she is placed in the think tank responsible for Project TAHITI and her breakthroughs provide the backbone in developing the version of the drug that Agent Phil Coulson eventually is given to save his life.
*2014 - Starting her third year at the Academy, Jemma is paired with Leopold Fitz. At first there was strife as the two saw themselves as rivals, both the same age and intelligence level, but soon grew to realize that together, the FitzSimmons gestalt is greater than merely the sum of its parts. This leads to the formation of referring to the pair as merely FitzSimmons, as well as a few experiments that produced some notoriety for the two, including a specific instance where the pair produced an ice storm inside a lab that caused some issues. In the middle of the hottest month of the year.
*2016 - FitzSimmons graduate at the top of their class from the Academy. Immediately, the pair are assigned to the Triskelion to the Research & Development department. The two proceed to develop some of the standard equipment currently in use today, leaning towards non-lethality, as is Jemma's preference.
*2018 - Jemma and Leo take part in the securing of the Triskelion during Loki's invasion in an unorthodox method. The two had developed the ICER technology, designed to stop a person but not kill them. This technology was untested, until a mind-controlled Clint Barton broke into the Triskelion with the purpose of securing weaponry for the invasion. Jemma actually shoots Clint with the experimental dendrotoxin ammunition and was able to subdue the archer.
*2018 - FitzSimmons develop the gauntlets used by Daisy Johnson when she experiences terragenesis and develops seismic powers. Jemma takes it upon herself to become Daisy's physician, partly for Daisy's protection and partly for Jemma's own research.

Personality
Compassionate:
Being a medical doctor, Jemma knows intimately the fragile nature of life. It only serves to bolster her already compassionate nature. This compassion is reflected in what she does...and the lengths she will go for her friends. It can be a detriment, as well, for her soft heart will prevent Jemma from taking drastic measures, showing mercy more readily than others. It is one of the underlying reasons why she helped develop the ICERs. After all...why kill someone when you can just put them to sleep and let them live?
Logical:
One does not become one of the youngest scientists for SHIELD without a solid head upon one's shoulders. Jemma is very much a calm and rational person for most of the time, using her sense of logic to guide her actions. It helps to find sense in a world that can be rather senseless at times. Holding fast to the scientific method provides that anchor to keep Jemma's feet firmly on the ground. To her, magic is just science that hasn't been discovered yet, so it is up to her to figure out the secret, in a logical and orderly manner.
Optimistic:
Jemma is always looking on the brighter side of life. There is no problem that cannot be solved...no issue that cannot be resolved with a little positive reinforcement. This optimism is a natural reaction to Jemma...it is ingrained within her. It is what makes her a good partner for her counterpart Leo Fitz, as her positive attitude is the perfect counter to Fitz's pessimistic nature, allowing for the two to work well together.

Biokinesis:
Due to exposure to a fragmented lifestone, Jemma is capable of limited biological manipulation on living targets in sensory range.
Jemma can alter biological processes at a sensory or touch range in a target. She is capable of augmenting existing processes, intentionally accelerating or degrading them, expanding or improving their function. She can accelerate the natural healing rate in a subject, causing minor wounds to close in minutes or moderate wounds in hours. Her touch may purge toxins and poisons from the body or amplify their effect. She can boost the metabolism to peak human condition, refresh the body from a lack of adequate rest or nutrition, and cause someone to slumber or go a day without sleep without any deleterious effects. Jemma is able to subtly alter a subject's mood, increase attraction/repulsion, and ease pain through the use of temporary minor alterations to a subject's biochemistry.
This ability is enhanced by her medical understanding, but her powers work without streamlined insight. She can temporarily improve a person's physical abilities to their peak level of performance without exceeding their racial or +sheeted abilities, or weaken them.
However, Jemma cannot use biomechanical manipulation on herself. Her permanently altered genetics cannot be detected without advanced genetic examination. She reads as a non-mutated human.
Skills
Genius Level Intellect:
Jemma possessed two PhDs' for biochemistry by the time she was 17, and continued her studies at the SHIELD Sciences Academy, simply because SHIELD had the resources to answer the questions Jemma had. She graduated as one of the youngest cadets in the history of the Academy due to her intellect. She possesses a sharp, bright analytical mind that has allowed her to research and develop much of the breakthrough equipment that SHIELD utilizes on a daily basis.
Medicine:
Jemma is more than simply a research scientist. Jemma is also a licensed and board certified medical doctor. Her early specialty was medical research in biochemistry and molecular biology. However, in joining SHIELD, she has expanded her expertise to include trauma surgury as well, dealing with the often critical wounds taken by her fellow agents.
Multi-Lingual:
Jemma speaks English fluently, flavoured with her particular British accent. However, Jemma is also able to speak Spanish and French, albeit not fluently. In addition, because of her intellect, she is able to learn languages should she wish to within a couple of months, including alien languages if the need arises.
Science:
Jemma has doctorates in biochemistry and has made several breakthroughs in the field that remain, for now, classified. Among her accomplishments are dendrotoxin tranquilizer ammunition for the ICER guns, an odorless tracking compound detectable within 50km, and cures to a couple new and/or alien diseases. Her skills aren't limited to biochemistry, and she is also an expert in organismal biology, anatomy, physiology, and physics.
Shield Training:
As a graduate, Jemma is a SHIELD agent and has received the full range of training the SHIELD Sciences Academy had to offer, including firearms, self-defense, and basic fieldcraft. While she's no specialist in any of these areas, she's been able to couple her training with her own ingenuity to come up with outside-the-box solutions when faced with problems in the field.

Both of Jemma's parents are alive and well in Sheffield, England. They are a source for emotional support, helping to keep her grounded in a world full of superheroes and global threats.
Partner:
Jemma is best friends and lab partners with Leopold Fitz, a fellow classmate from the SHIELD Academy with a mind to rival Jemma's own. With Leo's talents centering on the technical, he and Jemma are able to closely work with each other to develope some truly brilliant discoveries and designs. She can count on Fitz to have her back in most things and to be a source of support.
Shield:
Jemma is an agent of SHIELD in good standing and has access to all that comes with it: money, housing, a badge, and a 401k. In addition, Because of her standing as one of SHIELD's top scientists, Jemma has access to a staggering array of high tech equipment and lab space at the Triskelion for her research.
Weaknesses
Bio-Energy Transference:
Newton's Third Law states that for every action, there must be an equal and opposite reaction. This is true for Jemma's biokinesis as well as any other. With any use of the biological manipulation, there is a draw on Jemma's own biological processes. Minor changes will take minor stamina to perform and may not be noticeable in terms of power draw. However, multiple changes in a short span of time, or a major alteration, will certainly cause Jemma to tire. Essentially, the more that Jemma puts into her biokinesis, the more strain it will put on her body. Should she push herself too hard, her biological meddling will cause her pain and cause her to lose consciousness. It is theorized that Jemma could even cause her own death should she push too hard.
Poor Liar:
Jemma does not do well in improvisational situations in which she needs to lie. Her good nature is a hindrance in attempting to be less than truthful and will cause her to stammer and freeze up. This can be overcome, but only through extensive preparation, rather than any action taken on-the-fly.
Protective:
Jemma cares a great deal about her friends and her fellow agents, and she takes a personal responsibility for their safety and well-being.. This tendency often leads to friction with some of the more reckless agents and a motherly overprotectiveness over others. This personal responsibility can be exploited into causing Jemma to take risks that can put her into harm's way, all to protect those she cares for.
