Race to the Water Tower!
Date of Scene: 30 June 2023
Location: Top of Happy Harbor Water Tower
Synopsis: Spider-Man and Atom Eve 'race' to the Happy Harbor Water Tower after the 'beach incident' and use it as a chance to finish a date that had been so rudely interrupted.
Cast of Characters: Eve Wilkins, Miles Morales

Eve Wilkins has posed:
So.. these sorts of races are /always/ just for fun. A mature Viltrumite's speed is... essentially infinite, and when Eve was flying against Mark a few years ago he was already capable of breaking the sound barrier. Who knew how fast he was, now? But it didn't matter. Eve would never be able to approach those speeds. The point was having fun.

Miles had gotten a head start out of the giant sand castle, already slinging his way towards Happy Harbor's water tower while Eve was still saying her goodbyes and putting the beach back the way she'd found it. But when she's done? She /is/ fast.

Pink light flares like flames underneath the gloves and boots of Atom Eve's costume as her body lengthens, long red hair and short pink cape fluttering behind her as she soars just above a city street and makes a sharp turn in an intersection, following the trail of webbing.

Miles hadn't gotten /that/ much of a head start on her, but they were already half-way to the tower by the time she caught up with him. It was dangerous for her to be flying this low, this fast -- if she clipped a light pole or made a wrong turn and hit a building, she didn't have any kind of 'super strength' or 'super armor' to save her. Maybe she'd be able to get a shield up in time, but otherwise, she was just a normal girl, flying through the streets at breakneck speed.

That didn't keep her from having fun, though. Not far out in front of Miles, a vertical spiral ramp appears in the air, and soon Eve is flying past, boots landing on the track and riding the entire loop until it's spitting her out the other side, leaving her to spin gracefully without the propulsion of her pink jets for a few seconds.

Miles Morales has posed:
Spider-Man was /fast/. Is he 'break the sound barrier' fast? Nope! Not even a little bit. But he's kept up with living lightning bolts and goblins on hoverboards! That's something right? Eh, maybe not. But Miles isn't swinging to get somewhere.

He's just swinging. They can take the long way or the short way, but Miles is swinging and adding flips and twirls to his movements as he soars through the air.

He takes a second to look for Eve, hoping she wasn't actually upset with him about getting the head start. A vertical ramp appears some short distance in front of him and he THWIPS out of the way of it and he spins around it, only to see Eve ride the ramp and spinning out of it.

"Hey gorgeous!"

He slingshots closer to her, meeting her eyes for a minute as they just....spin together.

"I like us. A lot. I'm really glad I met you."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
It's ridiculous how happy Eve feels when Miles is near -- like nothing else in the world mattered, and she'd known him for.. not even a whole week? Was that dangerous? Was she falling too hard, too fast? Did it matter?

"I like us, too."

She's smiling, and her entire world is spinning into a dizzying blur of passing colors and shapes, but Miles remained perfectly in sync with her -- floating just in front of her like two suns orbiting each other, each burning with their own fires.

"Can a girl get a ride?"

She smiles, stretching out her arms towards his shoulders, giving herself a little bump with her powers to push herself closer and close that distance, but after that? She was just along for the ride, happy to simply hang on.

Miles Morales has posed:
It's a joy reflected in Spider-Man's own sense of self. Being around Eve made him feel light as a feather, like the stresses and anxieties of life slowed down and faded into the darkness.

And he wanted to freefall into whatever remained with her, speed be damned.

They move in a perfect symmetry with each other, and she reaches out for him. He pulls her close, and he holds her in an arm as he swings through the city with a big laugh coming out of him. "Can you afford the fare?" He asks her as they swing.

"It's preeeettyy steep!"

And she feels a moment in the life of Spider-Man, swinging through the city without a care in the world.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
The sounds of Eve's squealing echoes for literal city blocks, but it's not fear. It's /fun/. Each downswing, as the g-forces mount, draws out another happy squeal, and the apex of each upswing, sending them flying upwards, unrestrained, releases another bubble of blissful laughter.

She might just have a new favorite way to travel.

Tucked in against his side, she clung to his shoulders with her arms and used her thighs to grip his waist, doing her best not to restrict his freedom of movement.

"All I've got to offer is me," she says against the side of his mask, nuzzling her nose against his ear. "But you can have as much as you want."

Miles Morales has posed:
Her squeals we're satisfying! Not in a villainous 'scream for me!' kind of way, but the kind of enjoyment ons gets from a rollercoaster ride and throwing your hands up in the air on the descent.

Miles, Neighborhood Spider-Man and fan-favorite travel method! She's tucked in close with her legs around his waist. One hand locks around her low back to keep her close while the other hand focuses on the swinging.

He feels the warmth of her against his ear and he lets out a content, happy sigh. "There's no other place o want you to be...and.."

He gulps.

"I want all of you."

Desire. Affection. It's all there. "You're the only person I want to be around all the time. You're like...my best friend and my girlfriend at the same time and it's-"

They turn a sharp corner to avoid birds! "Amazing!"

Eve Wilkins has posed:
There's another squeal of excitement and trill of laughter, but Eve just hangs on, putting all of her faith in Miles's considerable talents as they swing tight around that corner.

"There it is!"

One of Eve's hands stretches out to point at the water tower that was quickly approaching -- the destination they were supposed to be 'racing' to, but this was a /way/ better way to get there.

The water tower sat on the tallest point in the city and itself rose nearly two hundred additional feet into the air. The giant tank on the top provided a spectacular view of the surrounding city of Happy Harbor and the coast to the east, where the mid-morning sun was making the water glisten as the waves undulated. Some recreational boats were making their way out, finally, and some of the commercial boats were on their way back to the harbor itself.

Miles Morales has posed:
"Where?!"

Spider-Man's eyes settle on the water tower when Eve points it out. "I'm on it. Hold on tight okay?" Miles suggests to her and he slingshots the pair of them through the air and as they soar, physics turn them upside down and they fall. Yet Spider-Man looked so calm and relaxed. He was in complete control. The Water Tower's peak was the tallest point nearby, they could see the hole city! With a final swing, Mikes let's go if the web and lands solidly on the water tower with Eve in tow!

"Should we call this a tie? Do we both sing?"

He was still carrying her in his arms, looking her in the eyes. "The view is perfect." And he wasn't looking at the skyline.

Just her.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"Holding on!" Eve shouts, tightening her grip and tucking her face in against his shoulder. It might have been easier if she'd just let go and flown herself up there, but.. well.. she didn't /want/ to. She was perfectly content to stay right where she was. And once Miles touches down, she finally relaxes, her feet once more finding purchase.. this time on the top of the water tower.

The singing! Ugh.

"...How about if I kiss you, we skip that part of the deal?"

She grins playfully. She was going to kiss him anyway, but if she could get out of singing, all the better.

She reached out to take his hand, though, and guide him over to the side that faced the water. All of the boats and people were tiny little things, really no more than dots moving around like ants on their own little missions.

"I kn--"

But then her eyes were on him.. his mask, anyway, and heat crawled up her cheeks as she smiled, pleased beyond words, her eyes shifting coyly to the side.

She raised her hand slightly, and pink light carved down both of them, changing them both out of their costumes and back into their regular street clothes. Finally, she could see his eyes again, and she stepped up in front of him, her hands looping over his shoulders.

"You /have/ all of me, Miles. No limits. I'm all in." She laughs softly. "I actually had a thought earlier." One hand dips into her back pocket and pulls out her phone, swiping through a few screens and showing him the map on the screen briefly. "There. I shared my location with you. So, no matter when you want to know where to find me, you can just show up. Standing invitation."

Miles Morales has posed:
That's good! If she let go, that'd be REALLY bad. But thankfully, she can fly if the worst occurred and Miles was REALLY good at catching falling people. And they touch down. Landing stuck! And finally she rests her feet on the closest they can get to the ground. He looks out across that beautiful and forever sky and he puts his hands on his hips.

"Well..." Hd lifts a hand to his chin. "You drive a hard bargain, Sam. You've got yourself a deal." His hand so easily taken and so willingly, he follows her to that railings edge. People liked so tiny yo here. Even buildings looked so small, like dollhouses that they could pick up. But she starts to speak and he looks towards her.

In a blink, pink light enveloped him and Hd sore what he wore before: A black sweatshirt with sand-color jeans, a red shirt underneath and some Jordan's on his feet to complete the look. "Wow, it blows my mind every time." And yet, she comes closer. She puts her arms on his shoulders and his hands rest on her waist, pulling her ever so slightly closer.

"You have all of me. Everything I have to give is yours, Sam." Mikes admits to her without hesitation. "Oh? I like your thoughts."

She shared her location with him and he checks his phone before looking at her map. A slow smile spreads across his face and he pushes a button. He shows her a map on his own phone. "Deal." Mikes smiles at her, a hand lifting to caress the smooth arch of her back.

"Now you can always find me too. Capes or no capes. Date or no date."

Ge looks her in the eyes, he starts to smile in genuine joy. And then he's leaning forward slowly. "Because...I'm really...really getting addicted to you." His voice lowers to a whisper as the heat of his breath falls on her lips.

"And I like the idea of you showing up to see me whenever you wanted."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
For Eve, it's a tank top, denim shorts, and 'white' (..dirty gray?) Chuck Taylors. Actually, it's kind of interesting when you consider the fact that, like the stuff in her apartment, she /could/ make her Chucks perfectly bright white and new every time, but she doesn't. She makes them faded, dirty, and well-worn.

She never seems to mind being closer, so that little tug of her waist that draws her right up against him gets a pleased little smile and a slight lean of her weight against him. Location shared, the phone is tucked back into her pocket.

/Everything I have to give is yours, Sam./

She blushes. And then he's reciprocating the location, too.

"Thank you," she says softly. "It's weird.. being this close to someone." No /this fast/ qualifier on that. Just.. being this close. At all. "And.. same." About the showing up whenever bit.

There's no retreat, though. As he's leaning into her, she's leaning back into him, clinging to him and gently brushing her nose against his. And then she's tilting her head just a fraction, pushing her weight up onto the balls of her feet, and kissing him, her lips soft and inviting, lingering barely for a moment before parting, tongue flicking playfully, coaxing him to chase her.

Miles Morales has posed:
Miles's phone is tucked away, never to be heard from again! (Not really, Hd needs it to text Sam when he's away!) Because he has something MUCH more appealing to his senses right in front of him. Brown eyes meet her green ones. Even her clothes made him shiver. She was just...perfect. In every single way. Not that she was this ultimate life form or something weird like that, but...nothing else has made him feel at peace like she can.

Made him feel wanted.
Desired.
Maybe even loved.

And yet... "It is...but in a good way. I mean, I never thought my first kiss would be Sam Wilkins. She's pretty hot." He winks at her. "But I think...there's so much more than meets the eyes with you. You're so smart and compassionate and witty and funny..." Miles could go on for hours. Really, he can!

Bit there's no retreat.

What a /kiss/. Thst initial contact is enough to melt him as his head tilts once he passes the brushing of her nose, gliding past it until lips finally meet. His hands find their place. One settles on her lower back, gently sliding underneath the lines of her shirt to feel warm skin there, while the other buried itself in long, luscious red hair. His lips meet and answer her, dancing perfectly with some small practice behind him now. The flick of her tongue challenged his lips to open the way for her, a challenge eagerly accepted. His tongue escapes to flick against hers.

They part wider to feel along the top of her tongue in invitation to their exotic dance. A soft, stifled gasp leaves his lips.

God, please don't be dreaming.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
...First kiss?

The words sink in somewhere in Eve's brain. Sure, he said he'd never been in a relationship before, which could /technically/ mean a lot of things if you played fast and loose with the definitions of a 'relationship.'

But FIRST KISS?

She's still processing it while she's kissing him, pulling him closer, almost protectively nurturing. She makes a soft sound when his hands explore -- fingers slipping into her red mane, the other slipping under her tanktop to find the soft, warm skin of her back -- and her own fingers found the back of his neck, exploring up into his own hair.

She loses herself in that kiss for.. forever. She had no idea how long. It didn't matter how long. The only thing that mattered was that connection.

How long had they been awake, anyway? They'd stayed up all night at the beach, talked until the sunrise, fought a bunch of sharks... it had been quite a day for them.

And when Eve finally tilts her head, gently separating her lips from his. For a few quiet seconds, she's just smiling at him. But then, "Was I /really/ your first kiss? Because.. you're kind of exceptional at it," she muses. "Of course, I haven't actually found anything that you're bad at. So."

Miles Morales has posed:
The very first.

Miles had meant it when he said that he hadn't been in a relationship before. It made him nervous that Eve seemed to have so much experience with relationships, even if the guy she was with turned out to be an absolute tool. It could've meant a lot of things, sure. COuld've meant that Miles could have been kissed but it just never grew into anything. Could mean that Miles was just not built for relationships and it turned purely physical. Could mean...well, could mean plenty.

But with Sam now firmly in the picture? Miles can't think straight. Especially when the gift of her lips is so firmly attached to his own.

"Mmmmm...."

A soft moan from his lips into hers. The sounds she makes encourage where his hands tread, fingers squeezing the skin of her back to tease her there, while the other remains firmly gripped onto her hair, solidifying himself into that kiss. He doesn't know how long they've been kissing and quite frankly, he doesn't even care. To him, that touch was more important than breathing. More vital than oxygen.

He /needed/ her.

And yet, finally, after a moment, they split away. The nurturing, protective, promising kiss slowly breaks and Miles looks at her, his eyes slowly opening to regard her with such incredible warmth.

"You really are." Miles admits, looking kinda shy and bashful. "I never...I dunno. I never really found someone I wanted to share that with until you, you know?' Granted, the kiss was a total accident, but well worth it! Finally, he smiles at her, her own contagious and fast-acting. "I haven't found anything /you/ are bad at. Like...seriously. Exceptm aybe races." He winks playfully at her. "But if I'm an exceptional kisser...you might as well have invented it. Honest! I...ahve no idea how I got so lucky with you. But, I feel like I can just be free with you." He smiles, pressing his forehead against hers and just...holding her in that moment.

"Changed the world for me, Sam Wilkins." He chuckles. "And trust me, I'm bad at a LOT of things. Like Jenga."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
/Except maybe races./

Eve's mouth drops open, green eyes flaring with a hint of that red-haired temper.. entirely in jest, of course, but it does cause her to lean in and nip playfully at his lip with her teeth.

"I was /distracted/," she points out, unable to hide even a hint of the smile on her lips.

She laughs softly, incredulously at his words and lets out a long, slow breath as she leans back against him, forehead to forehead, arms wrapped around each other.

She needed him, too -- more than even she realized, and she realized quite a bit. Enough that it scared her. Enough that it triggered those memories of Rex and what it felt like to be betrayed after you'd given your heart to someone.

Rex was an asshole, and she'd ended up in Africa.

What would happen if Miles hurt her?

She didn't want to think about it, so she didn't. She put it in the bin of impossibilities where it belonged, and instead of letting the fear rule her.

"You changed it for me, too, Spider-Man," she whispers, grinning. "And I doubt it. You know I can make Jenga blocks any time, anywhere. I might need to see that to believe it." But that smile grows, and soon she pressed her lips to his again, already starting another day of bliss.
