Miles Morales has posed:
Mark had /just/ left!

Half eaten cupcake still in his hand, Miles was humming softly as he looked at Eve for just a small second before clearing his throat. "So uh...can definitely tell there's something there. Or maybe was. Did you guys have a rough go of it?"

Miles was never one to beat around the bush. He knows they're friends and he's not doubting his relationship with Eve in the slightest....but he's curious.

"..and we don't have to talk about it if you don't want to!" He lifts his hands up in defense, like he's expecting a slap. "I just...really like knowing more about you."

Eve Wilkins has posed:

The door closes, and Eve locks it behind Mark, turning to face Miles. The first question earns a little smile and a shake of her head. She moves up to him, leaning a bit up onto tip-toe to kiss the side of his mouth where he had a little frosting. She makes a pleased little sound, licks her lips, and then she smiles at him, hands resting on his chest as she looks into his eyes.

In any case, it's certainly not a slap.

Sincere warmth fills her gaze as she shakes her head. "There's nothing I won't talk about with you," she says. "Mark and I never had any kind of a go of it. I wanted to, before I left for Africa. After Rex, I sort of... everything fell apart. My parents told me the only reason they were okay with me being a superhero was because Rex was there to protect me. He was cheating on me /with/ Kate, so I couldn't stay in Teen Team. Mark... had been dating my best friend for a while. But, he never told her about being Invincible. He just kept standing her up. I tried to stick up for him without telling her who he was, but by the time he got around to telling her, she felt betrayed and they broke up. We were both hurting for a little while. He tried to talk me out of leaving. I think he wanted me to go off to college with him, but by the time I got enough courage to tell him how I felt... he was with another girl. So, I went on to Africa."

She shrugs faintly.

"Some bad stuff happened. So, I came back, tried to enroll in college but failed the math portion of the entrance exam, met a really fantastic guy that supports me, that I can be myself with, and that I can't imagine trying to live without, now... and, here I am."

She smiles, then.

Miles Morales has posed:
"God, you're gorgeous."

Miles liked just...looking at her. The beautiful moments they've already shared and Miles is still floored by her beauty. Not just her outer beauty - lets be honest, she's a bombshell - but also her inner beauty. The heart she has for others is what first attracted Miles to Eve and everything else? A perfect gradual shift. As soon as she's close enough, he parts his arms to let her in close to him, hands settling on her lower back and meeting her eyes, never shying away from how close they were.

The kiss to his lips makes him smile in a humm, and he watches her lick her lips after stealing frosting.

"Hot." He comments in a very dude-like fashion.

Then he's listening. listening like his life depended on it. They had a thing but neither were brave enough to /go for it/ at the same time. It just didn't overlap, didn't workout, so they remained friends instead. "That makes a lot of sense. Sorry you guys didn't have a chance to try it out." He's not /really/ sorry about it, he honestly kinda wants to chase Mark down and thank him as enthusiastically as he can manage for letting Eve slip through his fingers. "Buuut.."

He leans down to press a kiss to her lips...then a second immediately follows. "I like that it went down this way..because it let me meet the coolest cat this side of the Hudson..a girl who loves me, who talks to me..who has never once made me doubt us. And who I now get to share a home with every single day."

"Here you are."

He looks into her eyes, chuckling. "What on earth did I do right to earn you?"

Eve Wilkins has posed:
Heat rises back into Eve's cheeks when she's called gorgeous, settling completely contentedly into his arms.

/Hot./

Eve half-snorts a laugh, which was probably not hot, but its succinct, unexpected delivery was funny.

Once she's done, she watches Miles's reaction. It was always risky, being that open and honest with someone that could break your heart into a million pieces if they got spooked and bailed. She didn't want that. She also didn't want any secrets between the two of them... or even the appearance of any secrets between them. If he wanted to know what was going on with Mark, all she could do was tell him and trust him to understand.

And he did. Because of course he did.

She returns those kisses, leaning up onto tip-toe to make her lips all that much more accessible and smiling through them.

"You're not the only one, you know. I had some pretty rotten luck before I found you. I don't know what I started doing right, but I intend to keep trying to do it," she teases, brushing the tip of her nose against his.

"Miles, to be clear, I'm not sorry about Mark. I'll always care about him. He'll always be one of the best friends I've ever had. But I made my peace with the two of us when I left. I could have followed up with him when I got back from Africa if I wanted, but I didn't. There may be some weird parallel universe where it all worked out and we live happily ever after, but that's not the one I live in. In /this/ one, I live happily ever after with Miles Gonzalo Morales, who I absolutely adore."

She leans up, then, to kiss his lower lip playfully.

"Wanna watch a movie?"

Of course she wanted to watch a movie. There was still unpacking left to do. And probably laundry.

"I'll grab the cupcakes. We can eat until we get sick..."
"..or distracted."

She waggles her eyebrows, grinning.

Miles Morales has posed:
Hey, Miles thought her little giggle snorts were cute! She always had a way of charming him, of settling him. The kicker? She gave him no fuss whatsoever about and even encouraged him to continue being Spider-Man.

How could he do anything but sing her praises?

And she was genuinely hot. No secrets remain between them. Well, except that they'll eventually have to tell parents about each other and that'll be a DOOZY but that's neither here or there. He's a patient young man who thinks first and acts second.

"Well, I had no luck before you so HAH!" Eve is his first and only love. She's his first kiss, his first date, his first hand held, his first....you get the picture. And those sweet kisses he'd love to just drown in are so pleasantly enjoyed. He smiles throughout them, and by the time they are done? He meets her eyes...

"Yep."

Because Miles can be lazy too! "Dibs on picking the movie!"

//We can eat until we get sick...or distracted.//

An audible gulp leaves his lips. "Yes please." He almost says something else but instead bites his tongue. He brushes his nose against hers and he laughs.

"To happily ever after with my Samantha Eve Wilkins."

Whatever was before is before. Whatever is in another world belongs to another world. Now, it was just Miles and Eve in paradise.

And it's more than enough.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
/Well, I had no luck before you so HAH!/

"Shhhhhhh... don't... don't remind me."

Eve pressed her finger to Miles's mouth for a moment, and though there was a part of her that was absolutely sincere about being terrified at being Miles's first /everything/ (the PRESSURE!!), she was mostly just teasing him. She was actually almost exactly a year younger than him, so it would have like him teasing her about being a hooligan... if she was /even/ younger.

It wasn't lost on her at all that, if she was his first everything, that meant that she was also the first girl he'd be bringing home to meet his parents.

Ever.

And given her track record for destroying villages and killing everyone in them, meeting his parents was probably going to go great. (Okay, so there was more to that story, but that's not the point!)

Plus, what if they were hung up on stuff like race? What if they hated her out of the gate, before she ever even opened her mouth? Not to mention once she actually opened her mouth and proved that their genius, web-slinging son was settling for the first girl he--

/Dibs on picking the movie!/

Woah that spiraled fast. Yeah. She was kidding, but also... not really kidding. The chances that the /right/ girl for Miles was the first one that he ever asked out (after some encouragement) were... infinitesimal (a word Miles had taught her). That wasn't something she needed to dwell on.

She laughs at his claim of dibs, but it's a kind of nervous, half-distracted sound that mirrors the distant look she'd had in her eyes. Yes, her mind had been wandering. He could probably guess at least approximately to what, because under that Atom Eve exterior, there was a LOT of insecurity and anticipation of being hurt that she hadn't yet dealt with.

"Good. You pick better moves than I do. I'll pop some popcorn while you're deciding. Sugar goes better with salt, anyway."

She kisses him once more, but then she's pulling away to do just that.

Miles Morales has posed:
A finger pressed against his lips makes Miles immediately stop talking, some muffled words being spoken against her finger.

"Showwy. Eye shrill wearry aphrethiatthe you..."

Yet love keeps no record of wrongs. As such, Eve is his first and though she feels that pressure- since all signs point to Rex being a lot of her firsts - Miles doesn't hold her past against her. She's not spoiled goods or anything like that. She's his Sam. She's perfect.

He's more worried about /her/ parents! What if they think he's an automatic criminal because of racial misunderstanding? What if they don't think he's man enough or helping provide enough?

What if he's not enough?

But they can't think about that now. It's Eve's birthday! And he has every intention of getting...distracted.

He can see the worry in her eyes and with a smile, he meets her lips. "Thank you baby. You're perfect for me." With all of her perfect imperfections.

Genuine, selfless love.
