Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Jason Todd

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
After such excitement regarding an educational instutation being taken over by Edward Nygma, and then cleared by some of the bat family wearing civvies... you'd think there wouldn't be much on the patrol to contend with.

Well, GOtham City doesn't sleep on its darkness, and so nor do her guardians.

    OR ITS CRAPPY WEATHER.

Opting to remain as Balm for the evening rather than switching to the more armored and orange-and-gray armor of The Oriole, Phoebe was currently curled up beneath a grotesque's wing on one of the buildings overlooking the Botanical Gardens, listening to the rain. Luckily, the rain and rumbles of thunder seem to be keeping some crime on the down-low tonight, so she's taken a break to definitely eat something nutritious.

And definitely isn't eating a candy bar.

Jason Todd has posed:
Candy bars are nutritious. If you don't read the ingredient list.

Less likely to stick to the rooftops, Red Hood is out in his car. The ping of an ally nearby chirps in his mask and likely in kind within Balm's.

"Soggy night to be out" he radios from a block and a half away.

"Looking for anyone in particular or just trying to remind everyone we're out here?"

Down below, the car rolls to a stop. Once the lights are switched off, the dark car disappears into shadow.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe was always proud that she knew her city in three dimensions. One of the reasons she always came home to Gotham.

Another one was that she had the people she could depend on most here.

<Would you believe that I just needed to not be around four nerdy guys going back and forth about hash codes?> she questions, tucked up neatly beneath the wing. <Quiet night so far. Guess people heard about the graduation and decided to bug off> she replies conversationally, stretching her fingers out.

<Also my socks are wet, and my cantrip's not keeping up with the water. Maybe was looking for a little trouble.>

Jason Todd has posed:
"You? Not wanting to talk nerdy? That I do find difficult to believe."

Exiting the car, Red Hood looks up toward Balm's perch. After a moment he fires a grapple line and rises up into the shadows.

Company's coming.

"Need to get better armor if your socks are wet. Trenchfoot is a thing. Even for vigilantes."

Standing on top of the grotesque, he looks out at the city without a concern over the falling rain. At least so far.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Not in my regular patrol armor. This is the Emergency Balm Gear." she motions to the more clothy type gear than what she would usually wear. It's definitely not kevlar.

And she gives a soft snort. "Besides. Geek? My language. I'll talk mythology and Tolkien and writing until the bees fade from the memory of man, but security protocols? That is way more JayJay's thing." Phoebe replies as she draws back down under the wing, making room for Jason in case he doesn't want to stand dramaticallt in the rain.

    "Also, can't get trenchfoot."

Jason Todd has posed:
Red Hood shrugs. "Now you're just splitting hairs." He'll continue standing dramatically. Because it worked for Washington crossing the Delaware, din'it?

For a few seconds longer anyway. Then he grunts and drops down to sit beside Ms. Backup Armor.

"Good. Trenchfoot is nasty." He looks over at her. "Who's JayJay?" he asks curiously. "One of those nerds you were with at the ceremony before things got exciting?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah. Jayjay, Nick, and Nacho. We've been friends since elementary school. Tim's been out camping with us a couple of times, so they've adopted him into the group. They wanted to be here."

Phoebe looks over to Red Hood, and gives a small smile.

"JayJay's typically up at MIT." she explains, "And Nacho is finishing up a gap year before he goes into veterinary medicine."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd listens and nods. "Guess they're okay then." As if he had any say in the matter anyway. "It's good to have old friends that are good friends."

He looks out over the city below. "The few I'd have considered friends when I was on the street were just using me. Hardly even two bit punks. If any of them are still alive, they're almost certainly locked up someplace."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I'm really lucky." Phoebe agrees quietly. "They're pretty great. I have great friends now too, though, who know all sides of me. Not just the fancy and civvie sides." she gives a small, wry smile to Jason, leaning, and bumping his shoulder with her own.

"And who knows. People change, all the time." she replies gently, pulling down her hood and showing a bunch of twisted-into-place pink hair.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd looks over and bumps back. "You do. And you do." He reaches up and unlocks his mask, removing it. Leaning his head back against the cool stone of the building, he looks back at her. "It's good for you" he says with a faint smile. "Not good to be alone." Pot, kettle?

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah. I know. I do bad shit when I'm alone, like try to collect-call demons and end up having to explain for eight months why my larynx is missing, or attempt to disconnect my memories from emotions, or date." she leans her head back as well, looking up at the marble wing.

"Not good for you to be alone all the time though. One of the reasons why I do like it when we get to hang out like this." she states, her dark eyes looking over to the unshaven Jason.

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd looks over, "It's not being alone that's bad. We all need to learn how to handle alone time. But also, making good decisions while we're at it." Something the whole family could improve on, really.

He meets her gaze and nods. "I do all right." He almost smiles. "I have a cat." Because that counts as not being alone.

"It is good to catch up with you. You can go back to stopping by the garage if you want, you know. Never said you had to stay away."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"See, I say I have a desher-iwiw, demon hunting hounds of second sight, and that doesn't count. You have an ornery *cat* and somehow that's not alone!" Phoebe protests, her arms coming out and teetering dangerously, "I mean I wouldn't fight Church, he'd win." she points out thoughtfully, and at his last statement, her ears and cheeks olor a bit, and she taps her fingers against her thighs.

"I'd like that, actually. Just got so caught up in... the everything, I guess. Because if I'm doing something..." she pauses, and rubs at her left wrist.

    "It doesn't hurt as much."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd nods. "Yes. That. Exactly. Don't do as I do. Do as I say." Because older brothers get to say that.

With a snort, Jason agrees. "Church would win against anyone when he's pissed off."

Quietly he nods. "I get it. Sometimes it's hard to get the voices in my head to shut up for five seconds." He draws his right knee up and rests his right arm on it.

Changing the topic, he returns to events earlier in the evening.

"Was nice to see Tim happy. Till Nygma decided to be a dick and show up."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah. They're pretty vicious for being my own thoughts, I can relate." Phoebe replies, and she draws both knees up, setting her chin on them as she gives a smile.

"I think he was relieved. Pretty sure when the president of the college said they were going to reschedule he was so *indignant*." she jokes, "I'm throwing him a graduation party next weekend. You should come. Very hush-hush."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd agrees on the topic of vicious internal voices.

Listening he considers, "Sure. I had a card I was going to give him. Then we ended up having a full-family braw with gunmen instead. Typical family gathering, right?"

Nodding again, he affirms, "Send me place and time. I'll be there."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I'll forward you rendezvous coordinates." Phoebe gives a nod, and she leans her head back.

"NOt a typical one. Stephanie and Austin missed this round. So I didn't get randomly hugged by anyone." she gives a smile, and then exhales out.

"If gunmen show up at the Curio Imma be pissed."

Jason Todd has posed:
Jason Todd looks over, "Careful. I'm still within arm's reach.." he teases her about hugs.

"Anyone with guns that isn't me shows up at your place, I'll be there to eliminate them."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Good, I'll make you down as a confirm. Bring a sharable snack." Phoebe smiles, and she looks over to Jason, her lips curled into a small grin.

"I'd love to see you there. I'm sure Tim will too."
