Synopsis: Big Barda and Scott Free join the Avengers!
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Big Barda, Scott Free, Jennifer Walters

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Members of the Avengers come and go. Each team member always lends something unique to the group. Here, it's the reformed Female Fury, the New Goddess Big Barda. Whom stands as tall as She-Hulk, as brawny as Hercules.. It's fallen to Natasha to show her around the Mansion with some chit-chat.
"It's good to have you with us. Hercules and Thor will enjoy having someone in their weight class to spar with that also can match their skills."

Big Barda has posed:
After accepting the invitation, Barda arrives in her full, gold and blue armor. The only thing she carries that resembles a weapon is an ornate rod that looks vaguely like a lightsaber on her belt.

"Hercules and Thor? Yes, I have read about them in stories. They are of the Old Gods, so it is only fitting that the Avengers also have New Gods among them."

Barda squints a little, then, looking down at the redhead. "Tell me, Natasha Romanova. What is it that the Avengers actually do?"

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would listen to the words of Big Barda, and then reply, "The Avengers are a strike team that exists primarily to defend the Earth from internal and external threats. The team's charter states that we exist to fight those things which none ofus could face alone. We help with supervillains, natural disasters, monsters, and the alien invasion or extradimensional threat or two." Because things with Kang never had to make much sense.

"Our mandate exists to be broad to allow us the utmost flexibility to respond as we need to for any given circumstances."

Big Barda has posed:
Strike team. Yes, Barda can get behind that. "I was not aware that the Earth had so many serious threats." she replies. "Natural disasters, notwithstanding. But I have searched your news archives. I have read some of the stories." She smiles wryly, then. "It has been some time since I have faced an army."

Letting that thought linger a moment, Barda looks thoughtful before she asks. "Whom do you serve? The Avengers, I mean."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
"We face numerous threats. There are always multiple crisises going on." Natasha would look around the study. "There are too many going on for us to be able to handle all of them. As a team, sharing our resources and our taletns, we can respond much more efficiently. And you'll get your chance to face armies." They'd only driven off the Dark Elves some months before.

"The Avengers have a mandate from the United Nations, but we operate independently." Because the benefits of having one of the top ten richest people on the planet providing funding and technology. "That means we're not restrained by political conditions."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda nods slowly as Nat explains, arms folding over her chest. "Even with flight and boom-tubes, the Earth can be a pretty big place to cover for a small group." she agrees. "So we do not take orders from the United Nations." It's more a clarification than a question. "I have been in positions before where I reported to people that I disagreed with. That's why I left Apokalips. I'm a soldier, not a politician."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would listen to Barda, a frown on her face. What reports the Avengers had on Apokalips were minimal to nonexistant. "We're a team, but we're all volunteers. We work together and we trust one another. If one does not approve of the direction we are going in.." They are volunteers. They can come and go at any point. Or even return.
"You'll find no better leader on any planet than Captain Rogers."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda nods slowly to that. "I would like to meet this Captain Rogers, then." she declares. "Scott and I are trying to live like humans here. We have a house and I have a job, we go shopping and I cook." Badly, but she still cooks. And it's not dangerous. Mostly. "But if I agree to work with the group, then I have agreed to it."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod, "Take your time. To train, to get to know the team. To come and meet the members. Ther'es no necessity to immediately go out to field operations. It's much better to understand one another's fighting styles and their abilities. Welcome to Earth, I hope that your transition to here is bringing you enjoyment."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda's transition isn't going quite... smoothly. Which is something that Natasha would know, with even just a little access to local news stories. "I will do that. Thank you. And I also offer my services to train the Avengers in combat." She makes it sound not so much like boasting as simply a matter-of-fact delivery of something that should be obvious.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod at Barda, "I can't speak for the others in the matter, but I would appreciate it. It's good to have another set of eyes and giving opinions. There are always ways we can improve. Most of us are experienced purely with Earthern combat styles from this planet."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda nods slowly to that. "Of course. Learning to fight together is essential for all warriors. And it is good to know where we have common ground and where there are differences in combat philosophy. I was taught to focus on my strength, speed and agility when I fight. I tend to solve problems by hitting them repeatedly."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would twitch her lips upwards, "There's always a time and a place for that on the battlefield. And oftentimes the best way to deal with an enemy is to simply throw as much strength and firepower on them as one can from as many angles. There are quite a few whom I have little doubt will enjoy your addition to that strategem. Being part of a team also means taking advantage of our disparate strengths."

Big Barda has posed:
"There's a time to hit things and a time to employ more subtle strategy." Barda agrees. "Fortunately I am skilled at both. Although Scott usually does the planning for us."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod, "Of course. best to be flexible but also to defer to a specialist in circumstances that they're best suited to handle and command. We'll be working with you and your husband soon enough to integrate you with the rest of us."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda smiles a little, then. "Soldiers and leaders who cannot be flexible usually end up dead. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later, but always dead." She shrugs again. "Plans come and go, but it is more important for everyone to understand the objective."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
There's a grim nod from the Black Widow, "And one has to trust the rest of the team and operate with them on instinct. You have to know what they would do, what they would say. You have to act as one."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova is currently in the study talking about Barda's preferred tactics - namely go up to something and hit it hard. And a lot of times. While also occasionally talking of combat philosophy, trust, and the other intricacies of working with a team.

Natasha continues, "And it will come with experience as with everything else."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda gestures towards Nat while they talk. "Well Scott and I also have technology from our world, but that is something we would only use personally. And it is something that humans are neither capable of handling nor are you ready for it." Things like the Mother Boxes or her Mega Rod. "You need to just understand and trust us to keep the balance."

Scott Free has posed:
Multitasking, that was the secret of a good marriage. Scott was out seeking new listing the couple could actually afford and made an awesome discovery. Barda was off to join a group called the /Avengers/. Scott didn't inquire too deeply, trusting her but, it didn't /sound/ like construction work. It was hard to worry too much about a woman who could probably go toe to toe with the Hulk for a while. Then he did a google on the way to this mansion.

Oh.

Well the group seemed pretty good. They drove off the Scitauri, a big deal in some galaxies. Scott guessed they were going to do the superhero thing, may as well network too.

As it is he arrives in the conference room to hear the closing remarks from Barda.

"Yes... inept people using a Mother Box is neither good for the human or her. Mother Boxes are hers by the way. Hello. I'm Scott Free."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"Whew! That heat, hunh? It's brutal out there." Jennifer Walters, aka the Jade Giantess, aka She-Hulk, aka Your Favorite Attorney comes into the study all big and green and wearing a nice looking professional suit with a laptop bag slung over a shoulder. Her hair has been tied up into a neat bun, but after a days work, strands of hair are beginning to fall loose.

"Hey, there, Natasha," she greets as she sets her laptop bag down on a convenient table. "How are you--" She stops short when she sees Barda. There aren't many women she can look at in the eye, and fewer still that makes her somewhat envious of their physique. Not to mention that armor of hers. Considering that the mansion isn't on high alert she figures it's safe to assume that this woman is supposed to be here.

"Well, hi," she says to Barda. "You must be new." She walks up to the woman with a hand outstretched for her to shake and a smile on her face. "I'm Jen. Looks like I'm in the running for strong girl of the team, now." She doesn't sound put out or anything. Just more amused than anything else.

And then a new person shows up. She turns her smile to him and says, "It's a pleasure to meet you, too, Scott. I'm Jen."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would cock her head at Barda, "Very well. I have no issues with it. We all understand that certain resources we have to keep to ourselves, or that's use comes with far too many dangers, or make us too big of a target." Some things one only uses when there is no other choice and things cannot get any worse.

As Scott enters in, Natasha turns to face him. "You're the one that has been described as the tactician by Barda. I look forwards to seeing your skills in the field. You'll both make. . Invaluable additions over to the team." The data files on the two are minimal - hopefully something that can be redressed simply enough.

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda turns when Scott enters as well, brown eyes brightening and mouth curling into a warm smile. Then she turns to Jen as the tall, green woman enters. "I'm Barda." she replies to Jen. The offered hand gets a glance, but Barda has studied humans long enough to understand.

She knows this one!

Reaching out, she accepts Jen's hand in her own, giving a firm grip... but one not so firm to crush a human hand. "A tactician, yes. But we do work best as a team. Together." Another fond look towards Scott follows.

Scott Free has posed:
Scott Free is studying Natasha as the women speak. Slight head tilt. he looks at her like a curious child, who gives no cares if he is spotted looking. He sees something in her manner that is familiar and troubling.

Do they have Females Furies on Earth? Aside from Barda, he never cared for the rest of that lot of harridans and psychopaths but there was a certain ease and smoothness of movement that was similar to Natasha.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jen glances between Barda and Scott once the handshake is done and her smile grows a bit wider. "Aw, that's adorable." She takes a step back and settles into one of the many chairs that line the study. "So are you new recruits or just paying a friendly visit?"

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
And there it is. That was what she had expected as soon as Barda met Jen. Neither had winced and they hadn't gotten extremely competitive tos ee who could crush the other's hand first, so they both seemed to be enjoying the matchup rather than having to prove themselves the superior. "Good to have you with us. This is Jennifer Walters, or She-Hulk. SHe's also the team's legal representation.. When we need it, which is often. And they're new recruits."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda lifts a brow at the mention of Jen being a lawyer. She immediately looks to Scott, then. "Scott, don't we need a lawyer for something? No, wait, it's a realtor to buy a house, not a lawyer." Seeing that Jen takes a seat, Barda moves to find a chair as well.

She sits, careful of how her weight settles and taking care that the armor doesn't gouge the furniture. "Scott and I are from a different world, but we're both very familiar with war and oppression."

Scott Free has posed:
Scott Free unconsciously sits next to Barda. He looks over at Jen, "A lawyer is helpful in acquiring a house. A realtor finds the house for you. They will supply a lawyer, but I'd rather have our own lawyer, looking out for our interests. As for warfare and oppression, we could write a book. Several in fact. But, now we're here and trying to find our place. We're looking around Bushwick. I do street performances there. I do magic." He reaches and pulls a flower out of Barda's ear. He hands it to her. Her flower for the day.

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"They keep me on retainer," Jen explains, "but I have my own private practice." When Barda explains that they're from off-world she gives them a nod. "We've got people that can get you proper identification and papers, if you need them, which you will if you're looking to buy a house. Establishing credit might be an issue, though. I also know a guy who builds furniture that can withstand women like us. I'll get you his details. He custom made my bed and let me tell you, it's never squeaked once."

Her eyebrows raise at Scott's choice of locale for their property. "Bushwick is... an interesting place. There's a lot of turmoil there right now with the 'mutant cure' going around. I mean, I can tell you're no stranger to violence, but there are better places to be right now."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod at the mention of Bushwick, "I would presume that things have been.. Rather heated there as of late." With the so-called 'mutant vaccine' going around. Something that she was keeping tabs on, even if distantly. "And you can also likely get wardrobes from Janet if you're in need of things to wear out and about. Even if she can't tailor you something personally, she can get in touch with someone who can make you things that are comfortable."

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda settles back more comfortably, leaning against Scott a little. "Never squeaked once? Are you sure you're using it properly?" she asks Jen, casually. "Our bed is sturdy enough, but only for sleeping." Barda casually crosses one leg over the other. "I have an ID, or I've at least filled out enough paperwork that I am allowed to work." Barda snorts a little, then. "I was not aware that so many permits would be required to lift and carry things."

Scott Free has posed:
Scott Free leans against Barda and chuckles. "They make her wear a hard hat. With the bed thing, pretty soon my anti gravity web will be finished and we can use that for... sleeping. Zero gravity is great for relieving stress. I'm also working on a sonic masseuse. But there aren't enough hours in the day. I don't want Barda to support me. Then... this clown accosted me at a performance today and had all manner of questions. He said he was from the... Hi-Res or something similar. wanted to know how much I made. Start talking about paying for tacks or toxins or something. I lightfooted it out of there. Strange guy."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
Jen nods in agreement with Natasha. "Yeah. I go through Jan's team for most of my business suits. They cut me a good deal on them, too. Lord knows I go through enough of 'em," she mutters under her breath.

"Most people can't lift and carry the kind of weight we can, and if you're working construction, they're probably afraid that you'd hurt yourself and then turn around and sue them," she explains. "Or accidentally hurt somebody else. The paperwork isn't common, but there's precedent since you aren't the only person with superhuman strength who's in that line of work."

"Hi-Res?" Jennifer asks, her brows furrowing in confusion. "Tacks or toxins? Oh! The IRS? Why on earth would an IRS agent bother a street performer about their taxes. That's the least of their worries."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would just shake her head, "I'm mostly amused that at the levels you can carry someone goes up to speak to you to ask you to show documentation. Most individuas tend to have too strong a sense of self preservation to bring up that topic." She would glance over at Scott. "And if you need it he can be.." Oh well, Scott doesn't seem the type that's going to want to have SHIELD make someone disappear - at the very least, she should make sure not to go in the specifics in front of Jen.

Deniability for a lawyer only worked if the client hadn't technically -said- anything of the sort of matter.

Big Barda has posed:
Big Barda gestures casually with one hand. "What is it with humans and forms, anyway? I had to sign so many papers just to work on the construction site. Now the... I. R. S. ... with taxes. I'm sure that it's very important to -him-; it just wasn't very important to us." Another shrug follows. "The hard hat was very fragile. I would have brought my helmet, but we are trying to blend in." Which is why she wore cut-off jeans and a cropped t-shirt to the construction site.

Scott Free has posed:
Scott Free says, "Anyway Barda is trying to fit in, only lifting one girder at a time. Oh, I met this old fellow who is interested in us living in as caretakers, He needs a little help around the place, some light repairs. He's away touring a lot. He saw my show and we got to talking. Nice old gent.Reminds me of Himon."

Jennifer Walters has posed:
"If we didn't have paperwork then I'd be out of a job," Jen says with a grin.

"I wouldn't worry too much about fitting in," she says with a shake of the head. "You'd be surprised at how much strangeness New Yorkers are used to. I mean, sure, I turn some heads, but that's because of my phat ass and not my green skin, am I right, Nat?"

"That sounds like a good arrangement to me," she says to Scott. "I'd take him up on that."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod at Scott, "I see. It sounds like you have something of a possibility already. The Mansion always has room for members of the team.." B ut hte two sound like they want to be out in the world rahter than simply staying in a guest room somewhere. "I look forwards to having the two of you around on us in the field. I hope to encounter you for training soon."
