Late Night Beach Bumming
Date of Scene: 01 September 2023
Location: Beach and Boardwalk - Coney Island
Synopsis: Vignette at the boardwalk
Cast of Characters: Gabby Kinney, Jon Kent

Gabby Kinney has posed:
The boardwalk was beautiful as usual, though with the shift in temperatures starting to go down, there were fewer people out than before. That, or maybe because it was a Thursday night. Maybe both. Either way while peopel *were* out, it wasn't as hectic and busy as usual.

It was rather nice this way. There were still people chattering around but not the horrible press of a huge crowd. The lights were still going over at Coney Island, the smell of corndogs and funnel cakes filling the air. And Gabby was enjoying leaning on the pier just staring out over the water while she worked at a funnel cake of her own. Little pieces are torn off to pop into her mouth here and there while she just... zones a bit.

Thinking. Appreciating the 'quiet' as it were.

Jon Kent has posed:
Jon Kent liked the circus. Even though his super senses let him detect most forms of sleight of hand with ease, he loved the artistry and precision of magic. Kind of inspiring to see humans basically invent their own superpowers.

He grins as he spots Gabby and runs up to stand alongside her as she stares off into space, cocking his head slightly as her narrows his eyes. "That's disgusting," he says. "There's saa gull eating an octopus out there and it's so graphic."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney glances over as Jon joins her flashing him a grin. It had been a bit since she'd seen him last. Not too long, but enough had happened in the meantime that it was good to see a friendly face. The plate with a funnel cake is offered over silently in case he might want a bit too.

At least until he makes that observation. She lets out a snort of half-laughter, half grossness at the thought. "Well I mean... Nature and all. Though that *does* make me glad I can't see out that far. Even if my night vision is pretty awesome." Leaning to the side slightly she bumps his shoulder with hers. "Good to see you Jon. How've you been doing?"

Jon Kent has posed:
Jon grins, "I'm more just shocked that it's the first thing I focus on. Sometimes seeing more than most people is a curse, as I'm sure you know. Smell, too," he nods.

"Not in your case, mind you."

"Oh, not too much. Just the regular superstuff. I'm taking a year off before I decide whether or not to start college. Trying to work on the relationship with the kinda my parents," he says. "How 'bout you? Been busting heads and taking names?"

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"Nothing wrong with taking time off to figure out what you want to do," Gabby has to agree with a solemn nod as her gaze drifts out over the water again. "Me? I think I need a vacation."

Her head dips to drag a hand back through her hair, careful not to get any powdered sugar from her funnel cake IN her hair. Sugar in hair was never a good mix she'd learned long ago. "Yeah, been fairly busy with things. Not in a bad way, but there's been enough to keep me hopping lately. I ran out to Gotham earlier today to visit since it's been a bit. Then back here to check in, and here I am now."

Jon Kent has posed:
Jon Kent nods, "It's hard to step away when you're doing good. You start to feel guilty for taking time off. Dad had to learn that lesson, too. I come by my overachiever honestly. You, too, I'm guessing," he says.

"I've been doing some stuff with the Titans. Mostly training, so far. Well. The training session we did as apparently something called ...Skyrim? But it was all an illusion, one of those holographic training rooms. It was pretty neat. I fought a dragon, even."
