Date of Scene: 05 September 2023
Location: Titans Rotunda - Atlantic Starport
Synopsis: Invincible meets Waspette. They share backstories and bagels.
Cast of Characters: Mark Grayson, Nadia Pym-van Dyne

Mark Grayson has posed:
Arriving through the open ports that are available for fliers, Invincible arrives in costume. Having not given up his secret identity yet, the Viltrumite moves to set a couple of boxes on the table in the kitchen.

"If anyone's awake, I've brought bagels and coffee!" he calls out as he turns to start to try to figure out where the utensils may be hiding at.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
It's a coin toss where one might find the young Pym-Van Dyne scion these days, if that coin had about 20 different faces, which probably makes it a die roll... Nevertheless! Perhaps the most common other than GIRL HQ is at the Titans Tower, whether assisting Caitlin in the labs or consuming pizza and other Titan staples in the common room. There's also video games of course, how can one not make time for those?

Dressed in a red and black plaid skirt with an almost punk vibe, a 'Just a GIRL who loves wasps!' T-shirt, and a lab coat worn more like a cape than an actual safety measure, Nadia is seated on one of the couches going over data from either one of her many experiments or one of the myriad threats that the Titans face. "Bagels and coffee?! I like both of those things!" Somehow despite the early hour the young girl genius is surprisingly awake and capable of even enthusiasm.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As another, new to Mark voice comes into the Tower, he lifts his head from where he had been carrying out his search in the kitchen. "Oh hey. Any idea where they may keep the butter knives around here?" he asks her curiously before gesturing towards the pair of boxes. "Bagels are in the box to the left!" he adds with a grin.

Giving up on the search for the knives, he instead turns to the fridge to seek out creamer or milk for the coffee. "I was checking to see if Donna was about, she wanted to debrief me on the whole New Krypton Green Lanterns nearly tried to kill us thing." A grump of a frown at that as he opens up the first milk carton, taking an experimental sniff at it. "You take cream or milk in your coffee?" he asks curiously.

And then, he remembers to make an introduction. "Also. Hi. I'm Invincible."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia's tablet is set aside as she makes her way over towards the kitchen. "Be careful, if you mess up Cait's kitchen she'll cut you off from delicious baked goods." The way she says it this seems to be a fate worse than death in her mind, but Fairchild's pastries are legend in the tower.

"Butter knives should be in that drawer." She informs the costumed bagel bearer as she leans over the counter and points at one of the various kitchen drawers between the stove and refrigerator. "That's quite a statement though. Like invincible invincible? Like anything?" She's clearly turning over possibilities in her mind, having seen some pretty crazy super weapons in her time.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Yeah, I've already gotten the lecture on not making messes in the kitchen. Which is why I got take out. I'm terrible at cooking. But you can never go wrong with bagels." Mark points out with a hint of amusement. "She served up some on the trip to New Krypton. They were pretty amazing." he admits.

Then there's the what's become usual misundertanding. "No, that's my name. Invincible. But well. Also same, at least for one of the powers." He sets the milk back in the fridge to go fetch a butter knife, carrying it over to where Nadia is as he opens the bagel box. He pulls out a bag filled with a couple of dozen bagels, and then a pair of tubs of cream cheese.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Realization dawns upon Nadia's face as Mark corrects her, "Oh! That's your /name/. I'm the Waspette, though I don't usually wear my costume unless I'm on a mission. For some reason people really don't seem to want to trust scientists who wear masks." She throws up her hands clearly viewing this as some completely unreasonable double standard.

"New Krypton sounds pretty cool. I travel to the planet Rann a lot, their Zeta Beam technology is really cool. Their ancient civil wars and blood feuds that nearly bombed the planet back to the stone age earlier in their history, far less cool. But things are going pretty well there now."

She pauses, "Wait why would Green Lanterns try to kill you? I know the space cops can be annoying but I don't remember them being murderous."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Nice to meet you, Waspette." Mark offers warmly as he chuckles. "Yeah, I'm still on probation and debating if I want to share my identity or not. But I mean, you wear a mask when working with chemicals, right?" Clearly he sees the double-standard there. "The only scientists that are powered I know of are the Mauler twins and... I'm not sure if they're exactly right in the head. Oh, and Doctor Seismic, but I /know/ he's not right upstairs."

"Rann? I don't think I ever heard of that." he admits as he slices open one of the bagels, adds cream cheese and moves to the side so that Nadia can doctor her own bagel if she wants one. "My father came from a planet in another galaxy, so there's that." he explains, before his attention turns to the story.

"So, we were on New Krypton. Caitlin, myself, Donna, a few of the Kryptonians. Like, right after the city that was in the bottle was freed, there was all these orbs and Green Lanterns. The orbs opened fire on the city with all these civilians in it -- I think the Lanterns were going to attack as well. But Donna was able to talk them down, which was pretty amazing, really." He takes a bite of his bagel. "I was able to help out a little. Destroyed one of the orbs."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"My parents are both involved with the Avengers, well my Dad and my second mom. But my first mom died not long after I was born." Tangent Nadia, she forces herself back on track. "Anyway, they don't really do secret identities in that team, so I never really had one either. But having been raised in an elite Soviet Assassin training program my regular identity is probably complicated enough. SHIELD doesn't like me talking about that part though." And yet she is...

"Rann is a planet in Alpha Centauri, the closest solar system to Sol, where we are currently. Still light years away though." She continues. "And Donna is really good at that sort of thing, fantastic orator. That's really weird though Kryptonians are so nice, I can't imagine why they would want to attack them."

Mark Grayson has posed:
'Avengers' Mark catches on that for a moment, but is quickly overwhelmed by all of the different things that Nadia's been through. "Man, I've been hearing all these stories from new friends -- which I now count you among, by the way... and I realize how perfectly pedestrian my life was and should be grateful for it. My dad was a super hero as well, but lost his powers when I was young." He shrugs his shoulders at that, though in the back of his mind.

"I don't know why they would either. But they stopped their attacks. The orbs didn't though and they turned to help us destroy them." Mark takes another bite of the bagel. "I don't know what else was going on down on the ground, I was the only one of us in space at the time."

"So Waspette... relation to the Wasp?" he asks curiously

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia finishes spreading a healthy amount of cream cheese across her bagel and commences with the devouring as she listens to more of what happened on New Krypton. "Oh Janet?" She gulps down the bit of bagel she had been chewing on. "She's my Step-Mom and the literal best. The parent and step-parent in the Avengers are Hank 'Ant-Man' Pym and Janet 'The Wasp' van Dyne. Sorry I should have mentioned. They're both really cool."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Really? I mean, I had an Avengers poster when I was young. Even got an autograph!" Mark says with a bright smile and considers his bagel. "My dad was a hero by the name of Omni-Man." he explains. "He's been helping me come into my powers since he no longer has them. He claims that someday I'll be able to do the things he did..." he shrugs his shoulders, popping the rest of the bagel into his mouth.

"Do you work with the Young Avengers as well?" he asks curiously. "I've been working with someone on the team. Prisma."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"That's really cool!" Nadia smiles brightly before swallowing another bite of bagel. "Training with parents is the best, they taught me so many ways I hadn't even considered using my powers yet. If you want to meet the Avengers, I could probably arrange it. They're all super nice. "Oh, yeah. The Young Avengers. I'm one of the original members, though I haven't been able to do much with them in awhile, between leading GIRL and Titans missions and being off world for a good while. "I don't think I've met Prisma, but I'd like to! She sounds sparkly."

A very insistent beeping sound begins emanating from Nadia's discarded tablet. "Oh no!" She exclaims, attention instantly drawn in that direction. "I... have to go check on one of my experiments! I'm sure nothing has escaped! It's perfectly fine!" In an instant she has vaulted over the counter to dash across the room and scoop up the tablet. "It was nice meeting you Invincible! Thanks for the bagle!" She calls back over her shoulder as she runs for the Tower elevator, labcoat-cape fluttering behind her.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Nice to meet you as well, Waspette!" Mark calls after Nadia as she leaves. "I'll let her know!" He turns, starting to clean the kitchen from the small mess he made and to leave a note for the other Titans.
