Like the proverbial sore thumb.
Date of Scene: 08 September 2023
Location: Main Foyer: Triskelion
Synopsis: Jacen went to the Triskelion to follow up on a lead. He encountered an unhappy Natasha and was glad she wasn't unhappy at him.
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Jacen Knight

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
It's in the aftermath of a quick strike at a Hydra facility that was on the outskirts of New Jersey. Or it had been supposed to. Instead it had been an intelligence failure that had turned into a strike team hitting an abandoned subway station that had been taken over by homeless.
So now in the aftermath, there are some annoyed agents and several intelligence analysts that are being glared at.

Jacen Knight has posed:
The man will never not stand out in a crowd. Even in ER scrubs, Jacen stands out. Just in to check in on a potential lead with W.A.N.D. he is dressed in street clothes. Well, street clothes for him. He can get some looks too since he parked underground and came through the elevator.

Most people have a hard time with the idea of the cowboy being anything other than a cowboy. The various foci objects that are obvious still makes him look a little out of place, but magic is magic and that tends to get the attention of even the biggest cynic. Particularly magic that is mostly unknown around SHIELD as a whole.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Cowboys wiht magic guns, cowboy time travelers with sci-fi guns, cowboys from hell riding on a horse made of fire.. They all have gotten their own sphere of weirdness now. Natasha Romanova gives Jacen a glance even as she gives a death glare over at an analyst that is likewise getting glares from several others.

"Agent."

Jacen Knight has posed:
Looking at the ones getting all the heat, Jacen shakes his head,"Reckon I'm glad they ain' all lookin't like that." he mutters. His attention moves back towards the hall, pausing when Natasha speaks to him.

Reflex is a hard thing to overcome and he reaches up to tip the brim of his hat ever so slightly,"Evenin' agent. I'd ask how things are, but I reckon there ain' no way ta miss th' heat'n th' room."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would give a shrug, "Things are fairly standard. An operation failed due to inadequate intelligence. This reinforces for the future needs for extra reconaissance before deployment of force assets." In other words, Int-Ops will be assigned to handle toile tcleaning duty until they get thier ass figured out.

"I hope that your own spectrum with WAND has been mostly within the bounds of normalcy."

Jacen Knight has posed:
There is a mild wince when he hears the details coming for the unfortunate intel operation agents,"Yeah I reckon th' up side's nobody got hit I'm guessin'. Ain' heard nothin'. I tol' my supervisiors if a team needs a field medic let me know."

Glancing back at the door he nods,"So far's somethin' c'n be normal f'r this kinda thing. One good thing 'bout magic. Even th' spells'n rotes that're pertty much set'n stone still catch ya with y'r pants down fr'm time ta time."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod thoughtfully, "Thautamurgy is.. Not my venue of expertise." As much as she loathed to admit anyhting wasn't. But everyone had things that they could not grasp. Magic was taking reality and bending it to one's own whims after all. That was beyond her ken.

"And here we gather and wait." She's being itnrospective.

Jacen Knight has posed:
"Mos' people ain' an expert. I reckon I could teach ya sometime if that's what ya want, but f'r my abilities ya gotta have a latent ability. Ya might, ya might not. We'd hafta look inta that."

"As I tol' m' recruiter, I c'n take someone off their feet'n hold them there f'r a long time, usually as long as I want, but I ain' much of a striker. Th' occasional haymaker, but mostly I'm a grappler. I have been thinking about taking some of the offered classes ta get better't that. Maybe muay thai ta get a basis in it an' go up fr'm there."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would shake her head, "I have no particular ability when it comes to that. I understand the very basic tactics that it can be utilized for and against." Namely shoot for the head and hope as much as possible.

"FIghting is a matter of survival. Don't die, have your opponent do so instead. Do whatever works for you in a melee. Don't play fair, don't expect your opponent to."

Jacen Knight has posed:
There is a nod,"Not too many people gotta talent, yet there's always somebody poppin' up somewhere that does." he admits.

Listening to her comment about fighting he nods,"Win'f can, lose'f ya must, but always cheat." he suggests,"Done m' share of wrestlin' on th' state level, played football almost that level, an' I w's a pro bull rider. If nothin' else, I c'n take a beatin' f'r a long time."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod, "There's a style to it. Taking enough hits to get your own in when the opportunity arises. When your opponent is tired or sloppy enough. A dagnerous one. But like any style it's effective when you do it properly. OF course, you need to be capable of getting in your own strike."

Jacen Knight has posed:
"Yeah. Kinda used ta bein' able ta 'ventually get them on th' ground'r get lucky'n crack a head. Nowadays, joinin' up with SHIELD I reckon it's time ta make sure I c'n make my own luck. I w's thinkin' there w's classes here, but if not I reckon I'm gonna need a recomendation as ta good place ta get better't th' stand up game."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Natasha Romanova would nod, "Combat training is standard. Everyone has thier own style which suits them. You'll have to sepnd some time learning. If you're fluent with boxing and grappling, that's a venue to startw ith and branch out from. You don't wnat to restrict yourself to one specific type of martial art."

Jacen Knight has posed:
A nod,"Yeah, ground games m' specialty. I'll take time ta learn some strikin' an' even things out a little. I've supplemented rasslin' by picking up a few chokes'n joint locks. Nothin' super fancy, jus' th' basics. Stuff folks see on any MMA show. Rear naked choke, triangle choke, arm bar, knee bar'n heel hook."
