Garden Rendezvous
Date of Scene: 16 September 2023
Location: Student Gardens
Synopsis: Ororo and Emma have a rather amiable chat in the student gardens, taking advantage of some solitude for a change.
Cast of Characters: Emma Frost, Ororo Munroe

Emma Frost has posed:
She was meandering about the Mansion. Early enough in the afternoon that the studetns would be in classes and mostly quiet. That meant that Emma could go about in relative peace. And here out in the gardens was relatively restful. It meant likely that she also wouldn't be interrupted by Catseye. Much as she doted on the girl, sometimes she was glad that she wasn't at risk of ambush.
So a book in one hand,a goblet of wine and a bottle in the other, Emma would be heading out to the gardens.
Likely to solitude, or those there being quiet. Time to just relax for the first time in awhile.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
While she was content to let nature takes its course in the student gardens, Storm will occasionally *nudge* the weather a bit to be ideal. Not too much, of course, since the butterfly flapping analogy was all too accurate when it came to manipulating the local weather. However, a little touch of a drizzle on the tomato plants was happening, since it had been a rather dry summer and the poor things needed some extra water.

Ororo is actually wearing a rather simple short-sleeved green shirt, buttoned up the front, along with blue jeans. Not her typical attire, to be sure, but for tending to a garden it was ideal. Though with no one else around, the sound of approaching footsteps is something that easily catches her attention. She turns towards Emma, and smiles slightly, "If you're seeking refuge in the garden, you must be truly desperate for peace and quiet."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would glance over, "Ah, Ms. Munroe. I hope that you are doing well." Emma tended to default to something more formal when she was out and about the Mansion amongst the students and teachers. It felt appropriate, given the occasional unease that her presence endengered given the mutual.. Antipathy of those she had been with and the pain sheh ad inflicted. "I hoep that your gardening goes well. Have you found students that enjoy it or are you mostly limited to those that have it as an assignment?"

Going to put her book to the side on a table, as well as the goblet and the botlte of wine. "And you seem to be enjoying yourself. A relaxing fall day I hope?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo smiles faintly, "There's always a fair number of students that want to learn about the gardening. Not that many that realize what it entails at first, mainly because they aren't used to getting their fingers into the soil with living in the city. Though that's far from *all* the students." She tilts her head, "Though you needn't worry about formality here, unless you wanted to." Apparently, Ororo is feeling that certain... misunderstandings, of the past are left in the past.

She then smiles a bit wider, "I'm guessing the children are being a bit much of a handful today?" She gestures slightly, a few clouds moving to provide Emma with some needed shade on a Saturday afternoon. A bit of a peace offering, perhaps.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod and smile, "Well yes. They've not had the experience of it. Many are from cities or areas that did not have the capability for it." The poor, the isolated, those whom ran away. Their exposure to gardens was limited. To plants beyond weeds and small patches of grass. "And very well, Ororo. A pleausre then. I'm glad that you find your work particularly relaxing. And children shall always be one. Particularly with teenagers." She would muse.

"I suppose that most of us were our own particular litlte deviants at one point or another. I do however doubt you were amongst those."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo actually laughs at that, very loudly, then shakes her head, "Oh Emma... you didn't know? I was actually a pickpocket in Cairo in my early years, and I was quite good at it." She grins genuinely, then comes over and stands next to Emma, leaning back on the table a bit and looking upwards, "Simpler times, to be sure. So I suppose that helps gives me a bit of extra patience with the teenagers in particular."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would muse, "Yes, I'm aware of what you are and what you had to go through. I'ms ure youw ere most diabolical. I do wonder if you had the chance to have tha tperiod to drive all those around youc razed with misery the way most of us did when we were teenagers. You had to do what you had to do to survive>"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo nods, "True. I didn't really have much of a luxury to be a 'teenage terror,' between surviving in Cairo and then having my powers manifest... and then coming here, joining the X-Men." She glances sidelong at Emma, one eyebrow rising just a bit, "Is there something specific on your mind, Emma?" Her voice is warm, concern evident in her tone.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod, "I know. I suppose many of us would call it a luxury to never hae to go through tha tphase. So you may have come out ahead in regard to that." She would note drolly over. "And no, merely reflective. I've had not the time to actually sit for awhile without having anything that needed to be rushed."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo chuckles, "You really should make the time to have nothing going on. If you are pushing it too hard constantly, you'll just burn yourself out, no matter what sort of gifts you have, mutant or otherwise." She pauses, then adds, "Being able to reconnect and recharge is something everyone needs to do, and you need to do it more than other people, considering everything you have going on."

She then amends, a bit quickly, "I don't know what that is, but I know you've got a lot of things going on, and you need to make sure to keep a semblance of balance."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would laugh, "Oh, Ororo, that would require me to have enough time to be able to make time. That alas is a treasure I do not have. I have too many obligations the likes of which cannot be delegated. Too many things that must be attended to or too many will have to suffer the burdens of my lack of dilligence. I simply do not have the ability to put things off. I have responsibilities to many that I cannot trust to be tended to that are not best served personally."

Emma has many plates that must be juggled, and is a telepathic control freak.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo arches a brow at Emma, "You should always /make/ time for relaxing. Even if it's just a quick bit of meditation, it will help you focus." She gets a wry look, "You sound like Charles when you say it like that."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod, "Oh, that's what I'm out here for. I have a short amount of time and here seemed like a place to relax until I was pulled into the chaos of whatever the students would be causing for their next little crisis and roped into the teachers that would have to put out the fires."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo hmms, "Well, until then, we do have the garden. It is rather peaceful today, if nothing else." She smiles, "Should be getting the pumpkins pulled and ready for Halloween before long, and the last of the tomatoes in before long." Talking just a bit of random daily gardening, which is far from what Emma has to normally deal with. Or probably what she's experienced with.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod, "That is why I came here. I thought it would be somewhere at least to relax for what time I had. Do forgive me for not joining you immediately in your task. I'm not the type to want to get my hands dirty in quite the literal way you are. Might you care to take a break from your exertions to join me for some conversation face to face?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo smiles, "Oh, I wouldn't ask you of the two hundred dollar manicure to get dirt under your nails." She can't help but laugh a little at that, then hrms, "But if you wanted to have a face to face conversation, we could do that easily enough. Did you have something specific in mind?" Her head tilts as she regards Emma, curiosity in her tone.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would laugh, "Oh, two hundred? Ororo, a proper manicure costs far more than that. And one never gets just a manicure. That is like planting a few random things at a time, leaving them for a week, coming back to put in a few more things, and missing most of the harvest season. And nothing specific, merely that I don't get ot talk with you often beyond formalities." Classes, missions, end of the world scenarios.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo chuckles, "Point. And... I would like the opportunity to talk with you, outside of a formal setting." She looks at Emma, "I think it would be most enlightening, to say the least."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would laugh, "Very well then. I would offer somewhere more formal, but I would suppose that you would find here to be the most appropriate. Or somewhere up higher with a few? I do not presume to speak for where you would mostly enjoy yourself."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo thinks about it, "Well, someplace high with a view would be delightful. That's definitely my preference, since the attic of the mansion tends to be my domain already." She hmms, "Preferably not too much of a crowd, if possible. Or rather, not very crowded. Personal space is something I do cherish."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost would nod, "Of course. Perhpas then we could take the opportunity to go up to the mountains. I'm sure that you could get us there easily enough and already knwo some good spaces. If not, I have a few that we could depart to."
