Cast of Characters: | Mark Grayson, Sunny Harlow, Bunny Macleod
|
- Mark Grayson has posed:
It had been a couple of weeks since Mark and Sunny had teamed up to prevent the two helicopters from crashing. Having exchanged numbers at the scene, Mark had watched his phone in case she reached out.
It had been on a weekend trip home that he had gotten an idea. After getting what he needed, he sent Sunny a text:
>> Coffee? I have something for you. <<
Having already ordered coffee for himself, Mark had sent his location data with his text and is currently watching people pass by on the street as he waits for her to arrive, currently dressed in a sweater with shirt underlay and jeans with sneakers.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
Well, having another of her people to talk to was a big deal for Sunny. After all, all she'd had to learn from was myth and fairytail of her own parent...and ironically enough, Mark's father. Still, the blonde herself couldn't help but laugh. She didn't -really- want to be outing herself, so she's not going to admit that she herself was actually a waitress for her day job, since superhero stuff didn't quite pay the bills.
Herself dressed a pair of jeans and a slim black jacket over a bright orange top, her hair was even tied back in a ribbon to punctuate her look as Sunny rather than 'Indestructibelle'. She didn't wear a mask as a heroine, but in some ways it seemed to work for her. Even if she did giggle sometimes when someone told her she 'looked like that heroine who saved people at the dam' or 'Stopped that fire'.
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny had been out late reconnecting with an old aquaintence, and since that was a thing had slept in.
Mark would receive a text of:
>Coffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :bunny_emoji:<
Which occurs while Bunny was on a subway, so it doesn't actually reach him until she gets off the train and into the stairs going upwards, not knowing he was in a meeting with another superhero!
The Superhero world was weirdly both big and small.
- Mark Grayson has posed:
When he sees Sunny through the window, Mark rises up to his feet and gives a wave when she enters to grab her attention. "Hey Sunny!" he greets, waiting for her to come over before he takes his seat, and reaches down to pull out a small bag.
Setting it on the table, when his phone pings, Mark laughs.
>> Did I mention ::coffee emoji:: Are you psychic? Is my friends tracker on? ::LOL:: I'm meeting a friend. Come join. <<
He sends the message and turns his attention back to Sunny. "I hope you don't mind, my girlfriend is on her way, apparently she's low on caffine. She knows what I am, all of it. But if you don't want to share, mum's the word and as far she'll know, myself and Omni-Man are the only Viltrumites on Earth."
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
A wave given, Sunny makes to enter, her hands folding as she comes closer and she gives a little soft laugh. "If I hadn't known what -you- were and who your dad was, I probably wouldn't have given my details to contact me or my name. My parents aren't bulletproof so...maybe just 'a friend' till I know her better?"
After all, 'Belle' didn't advertise what she was...at the moment. There was quite a bit to live up to after all!
Still she comes to settle in and gives a grin. "I suppose I should ask if she is a superhuman too or..."
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
> :exclaimation_red: omw!!<
Bunny brings up the Map App, tracks down where Mark's marked at, and takes off down a sidewalk -- turns out it's not too far from where she popped up on the subway.
After a moment or two, a pink-haired young woman opens the door to the coffee shop, visible over the back of booths only due to the fact that she's on roller skates. She's wearing a pink denim bolero jacket over a Cheer Bear T-shirt, her rainbow tutu skirt and sky blue leggings with the bright yellow pineapple roller skates today, and looks a little bedraggled as she gives a wave.
"Hiiiiii. Undercaffinated Bun powers are go." she yawns in greeting, giving a bright smile to Sunny.
- Mark Grayson has posed:
Mark gives Sunny an encouraging smile and a thumbs up. "Mum's the word." As he works on the cover story on how he knows Sunny, she asks him about Bunny and he shakes his head. "She's a piano player and roller skater, so that's pretty awesome, but pretty normal."
And then there's Bunny. "Pink Skater needs caffine badly." he quips, scooting over so that Bunny can settle in next to him. His coffee's black. She may not go for that.
"Sunny, this is Bunny Macleod. We met at a skatepark and been steady for a while. Bunny, this is Sunny Harlow. She goes to school with me and is a big fan of Omni-Man, she even had one of his shirts from back in the day. I happened to have some stuff to give her."
Opening the bag, he presents a rolled up poster to Sunny. "Here you go!" When she unfurls it, it's a poster of Omni-Man in mid-flight, with an autograph. 'To Sunny: Find your potential! - Omni-Man'.
It might tip to Bunny that Sunny knows what Mark is.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
Roller skates certainly was a thing, it was actually enough to have Sunny grinning and giggle before lifting a hand to wave. "Hey there," she offers in greeting before gesturing to join them sitting, a little consideration towards the coffee. "So shall we-" she begins before blinking a little and trailing off as the poster was offered to her, eyes going wide.
Had he told him about her? Did he know she was a viltrimite?
She had to keep her cool when she was around someone who didn't know her secret.
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
"Oh hey! Hihi, Sunny, -- everyone calls me Bunny." she gives a bright smile and offers a pink wrist-protector clad hand across the table, and gives a kiss to Mark's cheek before she plops down. She is... short. And she takes off her pink helmet, and her pink hair in need of a re-up on the dye is going a little everywhere -- so she pulls out a ballcap, which is dull brown and just uses that to contain the helmet hair, and she gives an embarrassed little smile. The skates add a lot to her height that she misses when she's not standing.
"Oh, you go to college together? What's your major?" Bunny gives a smile, filling the awkward silence of Sunny having to keep her cool with perky chatter.
"I'm considering finishing up my highschool years at Happy Harbor, an' then pursuing composition or musical theory, minoring in the other." Bunny gives a bright smile, and rubs the back of her neck. "Roller skating doesn't exactly pay well, but I play piano at a piano bar some nights. And it's all right -- I mean as long as you don't mind flamboyant showmanship and some nerd who keeps requesting Elton John songs." she gives a casual shrug of her own small shoulders, and she looks to Mark's coffee.
"... good thing I ordered my own. I think straight black coffee would probably cause my brain to ooze out my ears this morning."
- Mark Grayson has posed:
So, how that happened was a story in itself. Mark had come home for Sunday dinner. Debbie had Nolan make steaks. As they were eating, Nolan mentioned casually, "So, Mark, saw you on TV with a woman with powers that were very familiar."
"Oh right, that was Sunny. Incredibelle. I think she might be similar? She's a huge fan of yours, dad." Mark had commented.
"Really. Another Viltrumite on Earth? You should bring her by so we can talk."
"I planned to bring my /girlfriend/ home soon. Mom's really excited to meet Bunny."
"And I want to meet this Incredibelle."
It did not go well after that -- but Mark had secured the autograph.
----
Back to here and now. He doesn't answer the class question, he'll let Sunny field it. The kiss to the cheek is returned as he squeezes Bunny's hand. "Yes, we should order coffee!" he comments, a grin touching his face. "Look, I only asked for ONE Elton John song!" There's a laugh and a roll of his eyes.
He takes a draw off of his coffee. "You know how hard it is to google an 80s themed piano heavy song that isn't a love song that was wholly inappropriate for the stage we were at?"
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Design and fashion," Sunny offers, grinning at the girl was actually shorter than herself. It was a nice change. "I -love- your hair by the way!"
She herself doesn't otherwise know the drama her arrival might have caused, but here in the now she comes to tilt her head to the side. "Don't look at me, my romance history is limited and...kind of ended less than ideal recently."
A little tilt of her head to the side before folding her arms under her bust. "Balancing study and that stuff is a little...too tricky for me."
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
"Most popular songs are love songs, just depends on if it's love of money and style, love from thin air, or 'I love you so much so I wrote this song'. Shoulda picked Crocodile Rock. Everyone loves Crocodile Rock. Except Elton John. He *actually* hates the song and only plays it for the fans' sake."
It's true. He 100% hates the song in real life.
"Design and fashion! Playing on hard mode!" Bunny replies excitedly. "I've always had a fascination with color and clothing, but obviously I lean to the brightly colors and eye-catching non-matching patterns and I'm pretty sure the last time I skated through SoHo I gave at least three design houses conniptions." Bunny gives another bright smile.
"Mark and I are kinda... serendipitious? Like I met him before when I was dating someone else, but they decided that there wasn't enough time with their other obligations." she explains. "And they had a lot of responsibilities... so Mark and I kinda fell into each other and he's even met my turtle. My pet turtle. Which is a completely normal tortoise named Beeper." Bunny states to Sunny, in such a manner that it suggests that Beeper is neither normal nor actually a tortoise.
"And honestly? You have an opportunity to shift your attention to New Stuff. From out of pain and awkward could come something super cool -- like your first fashion line! Or you get into painting and somehow get a patron like Stark or Wayne and then you just make a living painting dots on canvases while fancy people nod and sip champange and go 'oh yes, you can obviously *FEEL* the pain the painter was in when they held this canvas to their chest and wept.' when the canvas's like, fifteen feet long and four inches wide and consists of a black dot in the center and a little to the left." Bunny suggests thoughtfully.
- Mark Grayson has posed:
There goes Bunny. And when she unleashes her Care Bear Cousin powers, no one, not even DOOM stands a chance against her. "There's plenty of guys out there. Or girls. I'm not judgy." Mark comments as he gives Bunny a one-armed hug for her compliments of him.
But like her, he's turning his attention to Sunny. "If it's fashion and design, maybe she can catch the eye of Janet van Dyne or some other famous designer. My father has a tailor, but he's passe and you'd be so much better with someone on the leading edge."
Then she makes the comment about the painting and he raises both eyes. "You ate the banana off the wall that someone said was an art piece, didn't you?" he asks teasingly. "But really..." he pauses, when the barista comes over with Bunny's order. "...it's about what you want to do, Sunny."
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
"I WAS HUNGRY." Bunny protests in an interjection. And her name is called for a coffee order.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
Holy crap, someone who could out sunshine Sunny? At least in this moment. Of course the mention of her first design and Bunny's comments on art and her own works bring a bright grin from the blonde who nodded her head. "I mean, I like bright colors and contrasts, and I tend to model my own stuff when I can...which is a fancy way of saying I make stuff I like."
She didn't have access to 'super materials', so there was a reason Indestructibelle had been seen in several different versions of her costumes. Practicality balanced with boldness...and a little bit of having to replace things that weren't bulletproof.
Mention of his Father having a tailor, that does have her blinking, as well as the sting of sympathy towards her last comment that has her hastily lifting her hands. "Oh I'm good! Really! I'm doing plenty of stuff that I love."
Heck, she went to space and fought alongside the Justice League, she was -still- coming down from that high.
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny's drink was roughly 'coffee'. It had coffee in it. It had four shots of espresso in it. And then two pumps of chocolate two pumps vanilla two pumps hazelnut, whole milk and protein powder, thrown together in the blender with ice, topped with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles.
"Eeeeeeee." Bunny states, and accepts the drink, and then sips it as she looks between Sunny and Mark, and she purses her lips a moment, raises her eyebrows and looks over to Mark when he mentions his father's tailor.
"I tend to assemble my own stuff. I mean, i'm probably due for an upgrade of my patrol pinks -- which is a joke, half the time they're blue -- but it gets weird asking about kevlar or stab-proof hoodies -- totally a thing. My ex girlfriend screenprints them in Gotham." she comments brightly, and then straightens up. "We could hook you up with Gabby -- BUSINESS WISE --" she quickly adds on "She has a print shop in Gotham City that can make T-shirts."
- Mark Grayson has posed:
Sipping again from his coffee when Bunny gets up to leave, Mark's eyes trail over her for a moment, before his attention turns back to Sunny. Now that they have a moment to chat. "You good? I'm not great with cover stories, but Bunny knows what I am, if it helps." he reminds her.
When he sees Bunny looking over, he lifts his cup to her and winks. Waiting for her to return, he scoots in to be next to Bunny again.
"Bunny goes into a lot of areas that aren't the best, and muggings are totally no cap." he admits. "But she's been able to handle herself." He doesn't worry, too much. "But yeah, pell grants and scholarships are keeping me going right now. But if I'm going to look for an apartment, I might need to do a little something on the side."
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
To be fair, Sunny's drink wasn't actually coffee either strictly, it was truely a hot cocoa with vanilla syrup, a little butterscotch syrup -and- marshmellows to make a drink that was probably proof itself that viltrumites seemed to be very good at metabolizing sugar. Then she'd got herself a cookie.
Still, Bunny's comment about patrolling actually has Sunny blinking and almost stumbling on her own drink and looking over towards Mark. Okay, so Bunny not only knew that the guy was a Superhero, but apparently she was a vigilante herself...or perhaps just a fan of tactical hoodies?
"Oh uh...it's fine. Half my apartment is full of stuff for making things, but I don't really have any kevlar. I...work in a Diner to pay for plenty of it."
Oh, there was Mark's comment about Bunny. If she did believe it, or didn't, she wasn't going to comment on it.
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny gives an embarrassed smile as she realized what fell out of her mouth.
"Ah... sorry, yeah. I'm... kinda... powered." she sinks down a little bit. "I used to run deliveries through the city. And... ah... I've got the whole genetic mutation situation, live and on location, what a sensation." she admits. Hey, she's a friend of Mark's, right? And even if she doesn't know Mark's a hero, Bunny has been on TV.
"And with the uptick in violence, I just... y'know, decided that I could use this for something Good." Bunny gives a smile.
"But also if you ever do an athletic line, I skate like Yeah so I'd be happy to provide money for your services and then show off fine-ass custom gear for advertising purposes. Game helps Game you know? And we're both artists -- you for the eyes and me for the ears!"
- Mark Grayson has posed:
Well at least he wasn't the one that spilled the beans on Bunny's powers. He was sure he'd fudge it up with one or the other at some point. Especially since they are getting along so well!
"She's got a really awesome power. Makes her..."
Does he...
"...invincible, at least for a few moments."
He went there. As the two of them start discussing colabbing, Mark's phone goes off and he looks down at it with a frown. Bunny can see it. 'Cecil Steadman'. "I have to take this. If I don't come back, it was good seeing you again, Sunny! And Bunny, I'll see you later." He leans over, kissing her cheek before he's moving to his feet, leaving a couple of dollars on the table for the tip.
And out the door he goes, around the corner, switching into his costume and skywards.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
Well, that was subtle...but oh well, Sunny herself was left to consider and sip her drink with a little giggle and then glance about. She knew Mark, she knew the truth of Mark and Mark her after their first meeting, so Sunny simply leans in and tilts her head to the side. "That's kinda awesome..."
As for the talk of athletic lines? That gets an eager little nod and grin in excitement.
Mark was fleeing, she actually watches him duck out and considers a moment, drawing out her own phone to do the quick 'is a disaster trending' check.
Not everyone had a batcomputer to get live updates, but savy social media skills help!
Back to Bunny, she considers a moment longer before biting her bottom lip. "I'm uh...kinda different too."
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny gives A Look to Mark at the joke about her being Invincible. And she can't even crack a joke about him being Re-Markable, but she sees the name. She looks up at Mark and gives a soft whisper of 'be safe' as she touches his arm and then stands to let him out -- and then sinks back into the booth seat. "Yeah, an athletic line would be cool. Like I said, I skate almost everywhere. Mostly do gurella events and pop-ups, and I like being the most colorful person on eight wheels." she gives a bright grin. "... and something to protect my sides from road-rash. Oooor being thrown into buildings would also be nice..."
She also checks her phone, for the same reasons. No telling when she might get tapped to report somewhere.
"Kinda different?" she questions, and her eyebrows go up. She purses her ears, and then she leans forward.
"... if you say you're a werewolf I will lose my mind." she admits quietly.
- Sunny Harlow has posed:
"I mean...one time for halloween, but that was more like 'sexy wolf girl'...so just ears, tails and some leather. Don't judge me."
Pulling herself back into topic, Sunny grins a little. "What I mean to say is...I know what it's like to be thrown into a building, even if I don't have the outfit for it?"
- Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny's lips try not to curl up into a grin. "Not what I was asking, but heck of a visual?" Bun laughs, and then she shrugs her shoulders "Do you know how many times people ask if I'm gonna dress up like a Bunny? It gets weird." she states, and then she pauses. She appears to be processing the information.
She scratches the back of her neck again as if there's an itch there.
"You deserve the outfit for it." she states quietly. "If you're gonna be thrown into a building, the right weave can help hold your soft bits together while someone calls for a med." she states quietly, and her fingers fold a little around her drink.
"So, you gotta cryptonym?"
