Let's get some Ice Cream, Kid.
Date of Scene: 25 September 2023
Location: Big Gay Ice Cream Shop
Synopsis: Kate and Clint catch up over Milkshakes and Coffee.
Cast of Characters: Clint Barton, Kate Bishop

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint had met up with Bunny unexpectedly while attending a Happy Harbor Football game. While thoroughly embarrassing her and her boyfriend as old man Father types are apt to do, he was successful in getting a note to Kate (who works with Bunny) about his change in phone number. You know, because it was too much to go walk across the city and knock on her door.
With contact reestablished, Clint sent a text inquiring about ice cream. The offer was accepted and here Clint was sitting at a table waiting for the young Kate Bishop. He had of course picked up coffee, one he was currently sipping on the other waiting in front of the other chair. Out of uniform, he wore a long sleeve flannel, a pair of jeans, and native sunglasses atop his head. He wore a flat expression, leaning back in the chair, one leg crossed over the other's knee.

Kate Bishop has posed:
There is out of uniform and then there is an Avenger. This is delicate, especially since Kate is not out publicly as Kate Bishop.

Though she genuinely wonders how the cognitive dissonance of socialite heiress couldn't possibly be superhero thing actually works. I mean she does sunglasses not even a facemask. Sigh. To be honest she wonders if Raven did some sort of magic on the Titans.

Regardless she shows up incognito to the coffee shop, expensive but duressed jeans, an expensive leather jacket, and a yankees cap. None of the flashy socialite gear and none of the Hawkeye gear and colors either.

She snags the chair across from Clint with her foot and plops down with a milkshake. He probably watched her gfo to the counter and order before coming over. "Hey." it's friendly and a smile accompanies it. "Way to long." and she means it. Not upset, their schedules are crazy and full of good reasons, but she means it.

Clint Barton has posed:
"Kate..." Clint says in greeting as she sits down. Yeah he watched her go to the counter and grab her milkshake. It didn't offend him, at least not visibly. "You look..." He paused, "Well hell, I've SHIELD agents fresh out of a combat zone that look less conspicuous than you do at this particular moment in time."
It was probably the baseball cap and the sunglasses.
Clint took another sip of coffee before continuing, "It is good to see you. How are you doing? You okay? Things okay?" He really didn't know the right thing to ask and it was evident in his voice.

Kate Bishop has posed:
She smirks and sips her milkshake. "Come on give me a break Clint... I'm in the papers in this city way to much and.. just.. argh." she tucks her classes in a pocket and relaxes back in the chair. Sort of a slouch.

Honestly her body language is disaffected twentyish young woman who has no responsibilities. It is light years from the way she holds herself in either of her real personas. "Also baseball caps in new york are very effective.. I've been dodging paparazzi since I was eight thank you very much." she is ammused though.

"Busy. I don't know how people do it... school.. teams..." yeah plural "at least we haven't had a dimensional or alien invasion in a few months or anything dragging us off world or to wonderland recently either." this is pitched low, casual conversational not whispering because yes she knows that draws attention.

"You met Bunny so I assume you have some idea about the New York project?"

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint can't help but smirk as she takes off her glasses, celebrating his slight victory quietly. "See that's why I'm lucky I didn't grow up with money... I don't have to worry about people recognizing me so much."
"Oh, I had already given up on trying to get you to take off the hat. Actually it works for you. We should go see a game sometime." Clint offers with a slight chuckle.

"That you know of." Hawkeye mentions with a wink. A horrible cheesy wink that fits his stupid dad joke well. "Being a kid is tough these days. Here all I did was screw off in the circus with my brother and go cow tipping." Clint was a country boy after all. "I've been busy too." He relents, "spent the last month moving into an apartment here in Greenwich."

There is a nod of affirmation, "Met Bunny, yes. I was briefed on the project. Even worked together with her once. Everything going smoothly over there?"

Kate Bishop has posed:
The milkshake is sipped again, she will work of the calories later. She shifts her slouch tucking one foot up under herself as he teases her. There is a grin though. "Any time you want to go let me know, my dad has a box. You can look across at Tony's." teasing back some.

"If it didn't rip up a city good on the invasion, they never seem to be that subtle unfortunately...." that part isn't teasing, she sounds sad thinking about the actual invasions. "Wonderland was a trip and a half though."

"As for the YA thing, yeah I think so. Lot of kids up here that have no backup and identity really .. looking for something to count on and friends. I know it did me a lot of good too. So when Donna asked if I would help setup a sort of .. New York affiliate I saw wisdom in it you know?" she smiles. "It is very low scale retro.. pizza boxes and no hard light hologram training room."

A hand wobble. "Everyone is really enthusiastic, lot of naivity and optimism, well except the symbiote... they are pretty pragmatic."

Clint Barton has posed:
The thought of him and Tony making rude yet hilarious gestures across the stadium at each other brought a wistful smirk to his lips, one that was soon obscured by the coffee cup as he drank from its contents again.
He listens carefully to Kate, nodding in agreement to her feelings about the invasion. He leans forwards as she speaks on her experiences with the Young Avengers. There's a small smile painted across his lips and he nods as he listens.

"Well Donna picked the right person... and I would know... because I'm me." He pauses a moment. "I'm proud of you kid. I really am. You're doing great and I hope you see that about yourself too." He sits back in his chair. "Symbiote's huh? Don't think I've much experience with them. Of course Naivety is bound to creep in. Everyone your age thinks their invincible. I know I did..." And sometimes he still did, though he'd have a hard time admitting that to himself.

Kate Bishop has posed:
"I mean.. that is totlaly fair. I had no idea how much stuff would end up hurting when I donned my gear and stopped that first robbery before you found me. I was just as painfully bright eyed and naive about how hard this can be." she isn't talking just physically painful either.

"Helping the Titans reform and all was good experience for this..." she really did help sort of restart and found the modern Titans at the end of the day. "Though I worry I'm not .. present enough with it. Still a Titan and all .. won't be changing that.. but school is a lot of extra load on everything. My dad would freak the heck out if I dropped out though."

"Symbiote.. seems a few running around.. Venom.. Carnage.. this one seems to be a good kid though.. goes by Mania. Probably alien or extra-dimensional far as I can tell..."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint considers Kate for a moment. "I don't want you getting overwhelmed. If you feel that you need to focus on one thing over the other, never apologize for choosing the thing most important to you. The YA, the Titans. They'll be there when you're finished with school." He shrugs and takes ones last sip of his coffee. Without hesitation he tosses the empty cup which perfectly lands in the trash receptacle a good distance away.

"And no it's not an easy job. There are things that we have to do everyday that are emotionally and physically taxing. We do it so others don't have to."

A nod about the Symbiots. "Well those two I'm at least aware of." Clint offers with a nod, ruminating on the idea of the creatures. "With all the extra-dimensional things going on. The invasion... I'm just not surprised anymore. Things used to be a bit more simple." He chuckles.

Kate Bishop has posed:
"Were things actually simpler though." she asks with amusement, not the momentary dark mood of earlier. "I mean.. I seem to remember one old man rescuing me and my classmates from an Ice Giant...." ah yeah, the event that made Kate want to become a hero when she was still in school during the Loki invasion of New York.

There is a smile though, tempered just a touch as she continues. "I know ... but I can't put the bow down for an undergrad business degree. It keeps my family tanked and my dad off me but .. it isn't the priority Clint. You know what I mean?"

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint smiles wistfully, recalling the day. "Aww shucks, Kid. You really know how to flatter an old fart like myself. I was just doing my job..." He chuckles, "But I sure am glad I get to have you around."

Hawkeye considers for a moment, "I mean... you could always just run away to the circus like I did? Look how I turned out." He was of course kidding. "You're, what, in your twenties now? You're your own woman. If your family isn't proud of you with what you /want/ to do... then I don't know what to tell you. You can make your own choices and sometimes they're difficult ones to make." He shrugs, "Have you considered testing out of your degree? I hear that's a thing." Clint had never gone to college. He actually never finished his primary education.

Kate Bishop has posed:
"Not sure that is a good idea." the circus idea.

"My dad hates superheroes... so I am pretty sure that would end in disaster." she muses then sips her shake. "I'm also not sure how legitimate some of my dads business dealings are. I admit.. I've been avoiding digging but I am going to have to eventually I think. Bring it all to a head. I am hoping to do that after I graduate though.. which may just be me stalling for clarity." a sigh and a shrug.

"You can test out of high school.. don't think uou can out of college." she points to Clint. "Not everyone goes to clown school Clint." teasing the circus angle.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint smirks at her come back regarding the circus. Though, as she speaks about her Dad that smirk turns into a frown and his brows narrow. Clint stands then and moves closer to Kate, squatting down so that he's eye level with her as she continues to sit. "If your Dad could hate you for being one of the most amazing kids in the world. Someone who helps people and kicks a whole heck of a lot of butt, then he's got bigger problems on his hands." He shakes his head and reached out to squeeze her arm. "He should be proud of you..."

Then Clint continues to listen, head tilting to the side. "Yeah... you're probably stalling. It's your Dad, you don't really want to have to put him in jail." He frowns, thinking of his own brother Barney and the different paths they took. Where was he now? Who knew... dead for all he knew but that was a story for another time.

"See... you're smart and know these things. I'm just an old Clown who barely passed said Clown School." He gives her arm one more squeeze before letting go. "I've got to get going. Nat's got me slapped with meetings for the rest of the day. We should do this again... catch that game... go camping. You know, fun stuff." He stands then and gives her shoulder a squeeze, "Call me if you need me. Twice if I don't pick up the first time." Then he's walking away.

Kate Bishop has posed:
Kate nods at the advice. It is good advice. Clint would make a good dad she thinks. Then again she is probably comparing him to her absolutely crap dad.

Little does she know how crap her dad actually is. Man 'all billionairs are bad' is not just a saying, sorry Tony.

"I'll do that and yeah we need to ctahc a game.. and who knows camping... I've never been camping." she is pretty sure having to rough it in Wonderland doesn't count it as camping after all.

"Good luck on the perilious assignment and tell Nat hi for me."
