Character Info
Profile
Hawkeye is best known as one of the Avengers, joining shortly after the team first assembled in 2018. Before that the name was used by a would-be vigilante, and a circus performer. Weird right?
Clint Barton is an Agent of SHIELD, one of Fury's troubleshooters, trusted to go in and take care of problems often with a lot of leeway about how that goes down.
It's not hard to realize they're one in the same with a some research but for the most part Clint (and SHIELD) try their best to keep it quiet if not exactly a secret.
Timeline
Timeline:
1987: Born in Waverly, Iowa
1995: Clint's parents Harold and Edith Barton die in a car crash. None of their family wants to take them so Clint and his older brother Barney are sent to Saint Ignatius Home for Boys.
2001: Clint and Barney run away from Saint Ignatius' to Carson's Carnival of Wonder. They start as roustabouts but Clint soon begins training under the Swordsman and Trickshot.
2002: Clint performs at the circus as Hawkeye the archer under Trickshot and Swordsman's guidance.
2011: Performing at Coney Island, Carson's Carnival of Wonders is hit by the tidal wave caused by the battle of Superman and the Fanststic Four against Annihilus and General Zod. The carnival is wiped out and Barney goes missing. After Clint searches for Barney and doesn't find him Swordsman tries to convince Clint to rob money meant for the relief effort and Clint refuses and is beaten for it. After his recovery Trickshot convinces Clint to join him in robbing criminals like Swordmaster in order to make a living; Clint agrees and they hit the road.
2014: Heat from their robberies forces Trickshot to take on more violent jobs, Clint refuses to join him and takes him down. Following the take down, Clint tries to become a vigilante like Green Arrow, but on his first outing he's caught with the loot he was trying to return from a robbery he foiled and is about to be sent to jail before SHIELD steps in and recruits him.
2016: SHIELD sends Clint to kill the Russian agent Black Widow. He chooses to spare her life instead and recruits her for SHIELD instead with the help of Nick Fury.
2018: Part of the SHIELD team sent to investigate Loki's arrival, Clint is brainwashed by Loki along with several others and fights the newly formed Avengers at Loki's command. The Avengers however free him and he joins them for the final battle.
2019: Recovered from the brainwashing incident, Clint joins the Avengers as Hawkeye.
2020: Clint continues to split his time between SHIELD duties and serving as an Avenger.

Personality
The Avenging Archer:
With the crappy childhood, the crappier mentors, dabbling in crime and a bit of jail time Clint Barton has been through the ringer a few times. All of that trauma has left some scars and made Clint wary about trusting good fortune. Oh sure, you might be good in the short term but that's how life gets you, things go great then /bam/ it starts burning down again. As a result Clint is always watching for things to start burning down and when it does it's his instinct push people away to save them from the flames. This makes him distant from a lot of people and phobic about responsibility or other things that might stop him from bailing and taking it all on himself when things go bad.
That said responsibilities and connections do have a way of happening anyhow. He loves being an Avenger, and It would take a lot to make him give it up, he's a bit more conflicted about his SHIELD work, some of it's been shady as hell and it doesn't sit well with him. Clint is a genuinely nice guy, and wants to help people more than he wants to put arrows in skulls, even if the guy getting the arrow deserves it.
That said, Clint doesn't let any of that show. Outwardly he is a cocky showman with a million snarky comments and a talent for bad life decisions. Nothing bothers that Clint Barton, and he does all he can to make sure that everyone believes it.

Superior Athlete:
Clint's athletic ability isn't superhuman but it's better than 98% of all normal human beings. He has shown himself to perform feats such as pulling a 250lb bow with ease, maintain heavy physical activity like training for 42hrs without sleep, has 20/10 vision and is capable of coordinating his body to attacks such as arrows and bullets.
Skills
Acrobat:
Clint's no 'Flying Grayson' but he is trained in tumbling and acrobatics, which he combines with parkour in combat. Making him able to keep up with often superpowered foes in combat and while running on rooftops. It's also handy for getting out of the way of things that would otherwise turn him into a smear on the sidewalk.
Archery:
Archery is Clint's mainstay, he has worked relentlessly since he was fourteen to become one of the world's best archers, capable of banking arrows, and making ricochet shots, as well as firing more than one arrow at time, he can even split arrows like Robin Hood. Given a straight shot with a bow in his hand, Clint basically can't miss.
Bowyer-Fletcher:
Clint has learned to make his own bows and arrows, while living in the city doesn't give him much room for the former he practices the latter often. Clint makes his own specialized arrows with the help of tech he has access to through both the Avengers and SHIELD. In a survival situation, he could likely put together a bow and arrow that would allow him to hunt, even if it wouldn't be the most accurate thing in the world.
Carnie:
Clint first learned archery at the Carson's Carnival of Wonders a straight carnival with a lot of crooked members. While he learned a lot about crime, he also learned how to help set up and take down rides and games, care for animals, put on a good show, and talk fast to get out of trouble or to convince someone to take one more throw to try and win a prize.
Criminality:
Clint has had a checkered past, learning from crooks to do crooked things. As a result he's able picklocks, hotwire a car, knows how to find a good fence, or some guys to fill out a crew. In addition, he knows how to blend in with that sort of crowd, and from the street corner to the jail yard, can play up his crooked past to fit in.
Hand To Hand Comabt:
Clint's whole life has been one big fist fight, from brawling at group homes, to learning martial arts with Swordsmaster and Trickshot and powering through SHIELD operations training, he's a dangerous mixed martial artist, who on a good day can take on a number of lesser trained opponents or go one to one with experts. His style is a mix of boxing, jui jutsu, muay thai, krav maga and good old school yard brawling.
Languages:
Clint is fluent in English and American Sign Language. He has some Japanese, Spanish, Italian and Russian as well, but he isn't fluent. Clint can however read lips and can decipher what anyone is saying as long as he can see their lips and knows the language.
Marksmanship:
Clint's natural ability to aim doesn't end at bows, he's deadly with thrown blades, throwing stars, and even playing cards (or well he can maim with the latter), he is also an excellent shot with firearms, and thanks to his SHIELD training has experience with everything from long guns to single round guns made to look like a pen and he's able to make incredible shots with all of them. He's also a pain to have to play golf, pool or darts with, be warned!
Melee Weapons:
Clint is skilled with swords, knives, tonfa, and staves. He's no master of any of those but he can hold his own with a knife and is an expert with a staff, so much so his latest bow made with SHIELD and Avengers tech can turn into one.
Spycraft:
Clint is a SHIELD agent and a veteran of numerous dangerous missions. As such he is skilled in disguise, undercover ops, tailing, passing coded messages, and all the rest that comes with the SHIELD training package. He's not as good as Black Widow, but he's able to keep up with her and roll solo when he needs to. He is also a skilled Quinjet pilot.
Tinkering:
Outside of performing at the carnival Clint enjoyed setting things up and helping keep the various machines running, often literally with spit and bailing wire. This led to the development of his first trick arrows and a life long interest in tinkering and coming up with new gear. He's no Leo Fitz, Tony Stark or Reed Richards, but he can usually McGyver a few bits of gear on the fly and competently design new gear with time and resources.
He is also a decent handyman and mechanic even if most of his fixes tend to be jury rigged.
Resources
Arrows:
Clint has a staggering array of specialty arrows, including, acid, gas, tracer, putty, explosive, EMP, freeze, buzz saw, grapple among others. Clint makes them himself and the collection is ever changing, stored in his custom quiver which adds shafts to arrow heads according to commands sent from his SHILED made bow.
Avengers:
Clint is an active member of the Avengers and the team provides him with a place to stay in the mansion, an Avengers ID card (which doubles as a computer and communicator) and access to the Avengers facilities and equipment. All of that is nice but what matters most to Clint is the connections he's made to his fellow memebers (not that he'd admit it) they're the family he always wanted.
Bows:
Clint has a staggering collection of bows, some of the are just for fun, or around for sentimental reasons, but he also has several bows that stand out. The first is the wooden bow he used at the circus and in his brief stint as a vigilante, the thing is massive and has a 300lb draw, it mostly just decorates Clint's wall these days but it's still functional and dangerous. His most common weapon is his SHIELD made bow, a high-tech weapon capable of folding up for transport or extending to a fighting staff, and in bow mode, the grip on the bowstave has custom buttons that allows Clint easily select and control his trick arrows.
Contacts:
Clint's made a lot of friends over the years, some shady criminal types from his early years, various government agents and spies through SHIELD to the people and the beat cops who patrol his neighbourhood. Mostly they supply him with news and information from their parts of the world, but he can also hit the criminal and spy types for a fake ID or maybe a safe house to crash at off the radar of SHIELD and everyone else.
Dirty Money:
While following up on rumours that his brother was alive in 2018, Clint discovered a gang of thugs and the details for an account in his brother's name containing north of ten million dollars. Clint took the details and moved the money as an attempt to draw his brother out and get some answers, but so far he hasn't gotten any bites. Since then he hasn't spent a dime, figuring it was a) his brother's and b) dirty as hell. Though he has it if there was a desperate need, of course his brother may not be the only one to come looking, and the fact that he hasn't told anyone about the money may lead to some interesting questions from his colleagues in SHIELD.
Shield:
As an agent of SHIELD Clint Barton has access to SHIELD facilities, information, technology and a paycheck equal to his level within the organization. As well the job comes with a neat badge and a bit of authority to flash it and take control of a situation, though Clint often opts not to go that route since most of his work is done in the shadows.
Weaknesses
Bad Life Decisions:
Clint is a skilled secret agent and a member of the freaking Avengers, but when it comes to his personal life, he's a total idiot. The king of bad life decisions if there is a way to mess up his personal life or get himself into trouble outside of work, he can usually find it.
Enemies:
Clint has an impressive collection of enemies made during his life of crime, his time as a SHIELD agent and as an Avenger. They range from street thugs, to superpowered villains and all of them would be happy to take a shot at Barton if given a chance, and often that chance comes at the worst times for Clint.
Hearing Loss:
Due to childhood injuries Clint is 80% deaf in both ears and requires the use of hearing aids to hear normally.
Limited Ammo:
Clint has some pretty awesome toys and his quiver supplies him with the arrows he needs on demand. However it's still limited by how many arrows it can carry, and if it is destroyed or depleted Clint is left without his main source of effectiveness in combat. Which, depending on the fight could be fatal.
Personal Code:
Clint has personal code that basically boils down to: be a good person and don't let anyone push you around (or other people for that matter). This code saw him beaten near to death by his mentors, has put him at odds with SHIELDs when it comes to the more shady missions, and causes him to pick fights where he might be better off running. It also makes him somewhat abrasive, taking a lot to get him to back down in argument.
