Date of Scene: 23 October 2023
Location: The Dugout - The Narrows
Synopsis: Homework and Fieldwork are discussed by Misfit, Batwing, and Talia.
Cast of Characters: Talia al Ghul, Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe, Damian Wayne

Talia al Ghul has posed:
She's just departed the Dugout. She goes to turn around to a man entering in, a bump of her hip to his accompanied by her sliding an envelope into the man's jacket pocket. "It's all there, Monagahan. I trust you tog et results."
the man, with a set of sunglasses would wave her off, "You know me, I do good work. They call me TOmmy Boy for a reason. Don't worry." He would shuffle on in to the bar with the profile of a regular. Talia would watch him..
Even as his eyes would glow just a little red in passing. Then she's heading up and over towards the roof where she has a.. Unofficial meeting to attend to.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Sunday nights. Technically a school night for those who have school. Which in no way stops Gotham from being Gotham. Which means crime doesn't stop.

For the moment at least Charlie is on the rooftop of the building that contains 'The Dugout' a notorious bar in The Narrows. She wouldn't get in with her civvies, she is too young and hence why she is up on the roof waiting for the aforementioned unofficial meeting with Talia and unknwon to her Damian.

Since she didn't have to even try to blend in at the bar she is wearing her gear, half an ear turned to the Oracle Array alerts in her earpiece. Just in case there is an emergency..

Mostly though she is studying her calc homework, sitting leaned up against an HVAC, a calc book opened up in her lap as she tries to puzzle through differential equatrions. "Guh.. this makes no sense. I think math teachers are secretly supervillains..."

Damian Wayne has posed:
Damian probably should have asked why Talia was setting up Hitman, had he known about that transaction. Instead, as he was asked by her to meet him on the rooftop, that is where she will find him.

And by him, we mean the young man suited up the Batwing kit. He comes in just as he lands on the large HVAC unit with a dull thud, sliding off the side and to the ground as he frowns slightly at Charlie doing her homework. "You did not carry the expotent of X when you were solving on line two. Your entire equation will be off." he comments dryly.

When some kids were playing baseball, Ras was making Damian take calculus at seven. He knows what he's talking about. "My math teacher was definetly a supervillain."

"How are you, Misfit?" An attempt to make conversation, perhaps? Be polite? He's trying!

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would settle in over and glance at Charlie, "Good to see you out and about." SHe would turn over to Damian and give a nod to the two, "Math has many areas where it is applicable, but often more theoretical than practical. Howeve,r learning it provides a good foundation for many other subjects. And it's good to be fluent with formula and universal applications. An understanding of math allows one to better grasp patterns in the world around you."

Then again, unless you were Barbara and had to do the 'hack the thing to save the world' routine, it probably didn't have that much application. For most of the Bats, chemistry and explosives were probably far, far more familiar things.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
She does glance up at the very soft if dull thud on the HVAC above her, clocking Robin, and then glances down at the book as he slides off to drop by her. "Huh." she traces the tip of the mechanical pencil over the equation and then twirls it nimbly in her fingers to use the eraser and wipe out everythng past where she went wrong. Then she scribbles in the bit to carry to the expotent. "Thanks Robin... and well I don't actually think any of my teachers are supervillains at GSU." she moves to shut her book and her homework up in it, shifting her leg out to shove it into the large hip pouch she usually has a drone in. Must have left it home for homework night.

"I'm pretty good, if a smidge overwhelmed with school, the league, and patrols. Making it work though." she looks to talia and nods. "Theoritically math is useful in magic too, or so I am led to believe. I haven't seen it yet in practice... but it is what I am told.. repeatedly."

Damian Wayne has posed:
"I believe that it was so that I would be far more familiar with how to destroy things than to find patterns. Though I am most familiar with engineering." Batwing responds thoughtfully as he settles on the rootop, his arms circling around one of his knees.

"Batwing. You have me confused with another one." Damian responds, "Though I may not keep the name. I believe I could find a better one." There's a faint thougtful breath that doesn't show in his eyes. "And if you have not figured out which of your professors are supervillains yet, you need more training in your detective skills."

His attention, however, turns to Talia. "I have a lead on the Foot Clan. There is a dojo near Bushwick that has been recruiting young, disenfranchised mutants. I plan to infiltrate and see if I can find out more information. Do you think I should go blonde or with blue hair?"

That is asked of both of them.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would glance over at Charlie, "Well, if they were and you knew it they would hardly be doing a good job with it now, would they? There are some eccentrics amongst them.. Well, there is the one that occasionally takes concussive trauma and thinks he's the reincarnation of an ancient Pharaoh, but that's hardly unbecoming." She would nod over at Charlie. "I can't presume to speak how it applies, but it's much about formulas and precision. Rituals and focus. Knowing how to apply the patterns on an instinctive level for ease." SHe would muse over and then turn to Damian.
"The Fibbonaci sequence. Each succeeding number in the list is the sum mof the last two numbers added. One, one, two, three, five.." SHe would click her fingers together. "And yet also a very stable point common in nature and in plant life, and in architecture as a ratio and pattern." As Damian would speak over to her she would wince.
"The leader of the Foot is a very, very dangerous man. Be on your guard." Whether he was an immortal continuously resurrecting himself in a new body, an alien piloting a powered suit of armor, a disembobied spirit.. No matter where he was from and what he was, he was dangerous.
"The Foot is up front divided into multiple branches. On occasion cybernetically enhanced hirelings. These are more common in some of the gangs that on occaison they are associated with."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie lets her head thunk back against the HVAC softly, cushioned from being louder by her red hair and the cowl. "Guh" is all she verbalizes for a moment. "I know I am bad at the detective skills, but I am working on it honest." she protests after the moment passes. Then she adds. "Do you really think one of them might be a supervillain, I was joking about that." now she sounds just a smidge sus about it, but she isn't positive they aren't just jerking her around.

On the topic of magic. "I mean yes, theoritically, but rituals and focus and encantations and formulas and I seem to be like oil and water.. or gasoline and fire ...yeah maybe gasoline and fire is the better metaphor. It's like an arson." okay maybe not the best metaphor.

"What is The Foot?" she inquires looking to Batwing and then to Talia. She really does need to read more dossiers and files as well as studying up in general on the archives. Also detective work.

"Blue hair if you are doing a mutant in Bushwick. Go Punky."

Damian Wayne has posed:
"What she's leaving out is that the Fibonacci sequecne is also the best way to guess the winds and directions of the Stock Market, something that may be of paticular importance to supervillains that may be seeking to launder ill-gotten gains." A faint smile offered from Batwing to Talia. See, he did learn!

The mentions of the dangers of the Foot Clan are noted. "Then I will be sure to take appropriate care. I am sure that I should be able to handle things unless they become too great. Then I will call for aid." Though the whole point of that is Damian realizing when it is 'too great' and isn't just paying lip service to his mother to keep her from telling him it's a bad idea.

And you know, she's not actually being a worried mother.

"It would be good practice for you to research your professors." Batwing suggests to Misfit. "Even if they come up clean, it will be good to hone your skills in research." A gentle encouragement, before he defers to Talia to explain what the Foot Clan is. "Their leader was spotted in Gotham talking to someone. His name is Caleb." he says to Talia. "I met him at a social function. He may only be someone caught in the middle for recruitment."

"Blue hair it is, then." he responds, a shrug of his shoulders as he rests his chin on his knee. "I will have to find a 'punky' wardrobe." Hot Topic, here he comes.

Someone please stop him from going to Hot Topic.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would glance at Misfit, "Just take care if you're taking a class froms omeone in the Egyptology department and you find one of your professors had a propensity for being hit on the head often." SHe would note over and move to fold her hands together. "Talk to your father first. I.. Avoid the Foot as they've agreed to do the same for me." Shredder offered her a detente and non interference. She had totally taken him on it.

"The Foot is a peer adversary of the Hand and the League for a reason. Be wary." But, Damian will do what he feels is right and she appreciates it very much. A tentative hand goes down to squeeze his shoulder in appreciation and a very, very timid bit.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
She considers the talk abouther professors and research. "Hm" is muses for a moment as her eyes drift up. "I guess that is true. I could do a background pull on all of them and make sure none of them are supervillains. It would be good practice. Also make sure your punk is authentic and not from a mall." she stops talking and cocks her head. "Wait, do all of you research literally all the peopel you interact with on a regular basis?"

She glances at Talia. "I'm pretty sure I won't be taking any egyptology classes... though I am getting a degree on Folklore and Mythology so maybe it would take an elective in that department... why is head injuries bad though?" missing the reference.

Back to The Foot. "The Foot is on level iwth the Hand and the League. Eeesh. Also why the heck are two of those named The Hand and The Foot. I mean really."

Damian Wayne has posed:
"There is a reason the Batcomputer's files are so vast, Misfit. They had to start somewhere." Damian points out and then a thin smile. "But yes. I do run background checks on those that I may find myself interacting with on a regular basis." A pause. "More so on those that may become friends." A flicker of a smile shows he's teasing. A little.

"I assume that by Hand and Foot, they speak of the styles and strength of their strike." he says thoughtfully. "Or their type. The Hand speaks of Magic, the Foot perhaps to Advancement?"

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would muse over softly, "I cannot speka for the Foot, though I suppose it's something to do with traditiona nd history. The Hand are a corrupted offshoot of whatever their organization initially was." The way she used that tone of voice was in a literal, rahter htan metaphorical phrase.
"The Hand serve a demon they call the Beast, that uses them as ways to enhance its personal power in this world. In return they receive power from it. Likely the source of most of their supernatural abilities and their ability to convert others." She would go to be thoughtful.
"And I don't know. I'm sure there's some reason for it. Perhpas an ancient descendent that can only be freed however many hundreds of generations later via concussive force. Perhpas some sort of mania or shcizoprhenia. Or perhaps it's just an old water cooler tale that has nothing to it beyond bored personal assistants gossiping."
A hand goes dow nto appreciatively squeeze Damian's shoulder before pulling away.

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
"Maybe I need to do more research on people I encounter, and befriend. I mean I was caught pretty off guard by this person." she hooks a gloved thumb at Talia. Though she seems more amused than anything else about it.

"Ugn so the hand is involved with Magic." she notes with distaste, not the magic but the demon probably. "Gosh I dislike demons.... though I am very good at punching demons these days." she taps her knuckles together and a ruby red light races across the leather illuminating a subtle and complex threadwork of runes and sigils in the leather. "Good for punching faeries and angels too really."

"I imagine it would be good for punching members of The Hand too..." totally losing the thread about The Foot.

Damian Wayne has posed:
Reaching up, Damian pats his mother's hand, before he's pulling away. "I need to get back to patrol." he admits to the other two. "It was good to see you again, Misfit. I hope your homework goes well."

He does take a note of Charlie's armor. That /is/ pretty nifty. Something he will have to ask about later. "Have a good night." With that, he's taking out his grapple to fire onto a nearby building and swing away.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would nod at Charlie, "Yes, the Hand is rather troublesome. Most adversaries when terminated tend not to spontaneously resurrect themselves in the midst of a fight and keep it up until you rip thier heads off." There's no joviality in her tone with how she put it.
"or have their fallen detonate via magic when they're rendered unconscious. And yes. Always having something to apply greater amounts of concussive force is always applicable."

Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe has posed:
Charlie watches Damian go and then looks to Talia "Do they reurrect themselves or at they just undead of some variety?" she inquires curious. Her education at this point has been so skewed by Justice League Dark work. "I could probably hit them hard enough with the demon punching spell that they wouldn't bounce back if it is from diabolic magic...." she shrugs.

Then her head tilts listening and she sighs. "I need to go look into something.... alert." she is awfully polite and apologetic about it too.

Talia al Ghul has posed:
Talia al Ghul would shake her head, "Unknown. I think that some of the.. Higher ranked members are able to properly resurrect themselves, though I presume most of the rank and file do it merely in the style of fodder and are left but as shells. And be well." She would give a nod to Charlie.. And then she would be off the side of the roof herself, into the night
