Viltrumite Training
Date of Scene: 30 October 2023
Location: The Great Plains (Central US)
Synopsis: Mark and Sunny meet to do some training and general chitchat.
Cast of Characters: Mark Grayson, Sunny Harlow

Mark Grayson has posed:
After returning from deep space, Mark was feeling a bit tired, but at the same time, needed to work out some of the kinks. In trying to figure out who to do that with, as he was scrolling through his contacts, he came across Sunny. And it just made perfect sense, as they were the only two -powered- Viltrumites on Earth. He opens the text app...

Invincible> Hey, Sunny! It's Mark. Wanna do some training? Like, out in the middle of nowhere, in case it gets a little rough and tumble.

He sends his location data, and is currently floating over the middle of a swath of fields, out in the middle of Kansas - with nary a soul around for at least twenty-five miles.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
He'd been in space...she'd been at cheerleading practice. Gotta keep that scholarship somehow, right? Of course, it was probably a good thing that she was the one being thrown about and tumbling rather than throwing others, or by now she might have blown her cover.

Of course, while it was the sort of fun and social activity that had the girl beaming like her namesake...it wasn't really a challenge physically, right?

Sunny> "Read my mind. See you shortly!"

One last goodbye to her fellow teammates after getting changed so noone reported a cheerleader in a recogniseable uniform zooming over the city.

Slinging her back over her shoulders and with one last look around she took to the air and was already a rush of motion before she appeared, Indestructibelle, costume and all.

"I'm gonna guess you haven't brought any super weights or something, right?"

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Hey, 'Belle. Nice costume choice today." Mark is cheerful as he usually is. "Not exactly super weights..." comes the comments as he folds his arms over his chest and the pivots a little. "There's a train yard about ten miles from here. It's been abandoned for a while, but there's a bunch of old train cars and stuff there." comes the explanation as he relaxes his stance.

Then he grins, almost brimming with pent up energy.

"Race you there?"

And before she can answer, he's off like a shot, streaking towards the train yard, a loud *KRAK!* in his wake as he almost immediately breaks the sound barrier!

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Ooooh that was cheap. Sunny had was actually in her own almost -classic- suit, and by that it was clearly at least inspired in color (those whites and reds) by his father's own, but she'd made some improvements with the magority of the torso being mostly read and more sturdy than the bodysuit she'd debuted in. Instead of the cape she'd gone for a half-jacket to add a little more detail...but only because the last cape was still mostly burned away.

A laugh...but it was almost completely lost under the resounding sonic boom as she came after him. She could match...but there was every chance she was competative enough and eager to have someone to chase to push herself. "Sneaky!" she called, even over the roar of air.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As he tears through the air, Mark turns around to catch sight of Sunny following. "What's your max speed?" he asks her curiously, slowing down a little for her to get closer. As he watches Sunny, he flares his arms out in front him and then turns.

"I want to try something!" He holds out his hand to her. If she accepts it, he'll twist, bringing her around him and attempts to use the combined centrifugal force in an attempt to give Sunny a speed boost to get her going a little faster.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"That depends on if we're in the atmosphere or not," Sunny offers as she actually seems to manage to catch up. Perhaps they were equals, similar in age certainly, or she was more stubborn and willing to jump up to pushing herself at his speed. Coming up to his level there's a shrug. "I mean, I don't exactly have a radar gun up here. Faster than sound, easy. I can outrace every plane I've ever seen..."

Try something? She's down, taking the hand and quickly catching on before she shifts her weight and lets the motion carry her, the burst of acceleration from his strength a boost in itself and one the cheerleader was ironically well-suited to throwing her own balance into with a whoop of enjoyment echoing in her wake.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As she gets that speed boost, Mark immediately moves in behind her, so that he can use her wake to drift behind her. "I was able to hit Mach 2 a couple of times pretty easily. But in space? Man, I'm so much faster!"

"Have you tried holding your breath and going up and out of the atmosphere to see how long you can hold it?" he asks her curiously. "Right now, I can get to the moon and back with plenty to spare. I'm hoping to build it up to get to Mars and back. But I was given a device to help with that. I should see about getting you one." he says thoughtfully.

The train yard is starting to come into view. The rusting hulks of diesel locomotives sit on the tracks, in various states of disrepair. This is obviously a storage/mothball/graveyard for the large engines. "They're much heavier than planes." he explains as he starts to decend. But as he lands, he does ask. "Have you been contacted by any government agencies yet?"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
More than just a pretty face...impressed by the physics adapting he's done she gives a little grin as they continue to zoom along, although eventually that speed boost would begin to slow, temporary as it was. "That's just it, air resistance pressing back against us, slowing our acceleration...hell, after a certain point that's probably a good thing. I don't know if you have one of those super-fabrics suits but...after a certain speed, we're basically going through reentry."

As they continue to descend, she shakes her head. "I mean, turning up to a scene naked and on fire doesn't seem super professional."

Had she made it to the moon before? She grins at that, nodding and then giving a nervous chuckle. "I uh...actually haven't really, the government I mean. But I did get picked up by the Justice league to help them fight this crazy alien robot with clones that had captured Superman. Honestly it was...terrifying, but being picked up by them was amazing...."

Seems she'd been able to fly under the government's radar for the time being with all the other metas out there. Although, who could know if Cecil didn't already have extensive information on this new viltrimite.

"Maybe we could practice in outer atmosphere, orbit the planet?"

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Right, the friction actually allows us to work on speed." Mark admits, a grin over at Sunny as he rubs the back of his head. "Guess we were thinking the same way." However, when she mentions that she's been able to duck the government, he heaves a sigh. "So /jealous/!" comes the lamentation that she has been so fortunate.

"Since my dad was a super hero, they had their eyes of me since day one. They almost knew the exact moment my powers blossomed and were right there waiting. Hell, Cecil wanted me to be Omni Man, junior at one point!" He sticks his tongue out and makes a bleah face.

"I'll try to secure you a rebreather, like my dad has and I do as well. It somehow is able to pick up the trace elements in space and makes it so that you can breath, no matter how far out you go. I've been to Mars and back using it." he explains to her.

"I'd brought it with me, but..." A little turn, showing off that the suit is nearly skin tight. "No pockets." A smirk but he nods to her idea. "Sure!" He rises off the ground, passing by her. "I want to get a little distance from the ground before rocketing off. Lap around the world sounds fun!"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Like resistance training, right?" she questions, tilting her head to the side as they come to a hover. "I mean, does your dad have any advice on how to do the whole 'getting stronger' thing? I mean ways that don't involve just battling killer robots, wrestling demigods and getting the occasional dam dropped on you?"

She was probably joking. Probably.

"Mars would be kind of awesome...it's kinda a shame you can't take Bunny with you. Outta space would be a heck of a date for the two of you."

No pockets? She grins, her hover allowing her to turn on the spot. "Why do you think I added the jacket? I've had -way- too many normal outfits with no pockets."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"No. I wish there was a better way. He just says that 'experience will make you stronger'." Which may be why Juggernaut attacked Mark, but he has yet to fully accept even with all the evidence. "Fortunately," and she may note the small, if feral smile, "There's plenty of villains and giant robots and demigods and dams to fight!"

Offered almost too cheerfully, he nods to Sunny. "Bunny's adorbs. I love bringing her back things from the places I go that she hasn't had or may never get to go to. She was really excited when I brought her back a rock from New Krypton." he explains.

He laughs as she points out the jacket. "I thought you were just trying to draw attention away from your chest!" he teases her before grinning and he rockets off to start to make his way into orbit. Drawing in a breath, he turns around to see if she's following him.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"I'm not suprised...but it still kinda sucks," Sunny comments before nodding her head, the blonde girl grins, beaming brightly at the affection clearly shared between the two. "She is -super- cute, but you both are. Especially together. And the fact she knows what you are and is super comfortable with it is just awesome..."

She trails off, shaking her head with a laugh. "You two are super sweet though."

Attention to her chest? She snorts, but there is a good natured bite of her lip to stiffle a laugh. "No, but the first suit that looked like a version of your dad's? Yeah...white over the majority of the chest plus interior sprinklers...lets just say I chose the wrong shade of underwear that day. There's a reason why I didn't stop to talk to people on the first rescue."

Superheroing without a mentor did come with its learning experiences!

With that amusing (and embarassing) memory revisited, she too took in her breath and coiled before launching upwards, racing towards the outer atmosphere.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Mark actually /blushes/ at Sunny's compliments and he offers her a warm smile. "Thanks. I really think I've fallen in love with her." It was easier to admit it now. "We're even looking for an apartment together - even if we're co-habbing at her place."

But, he tempers all that, allowing her to catch up to him. "Whoever dumped you was an idiot, Sunny. You're a sweetheart, obviously gorgeous and you have the charisma of a whole squad of cheerleaders. I'll hope you find the right one for you!" Male or female, he knows that Sunny could easily get what she wanted!

When she mentions her first rescue experience, Mark snorts and laughs. "Oh my gosh! What material did you use??" he asks, and then suggests, "Bunny uses a compression bra."

With that, he slips into the low orbit, feeling the resistance break as Mother Earth surrenders her grip on her non-native hero.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Lets just say dark blue is not a color that hides well under white..." she offers with a little chuckle, his own words bringing a little laugh and a shrug. "I'm mean, relationships are kinda tricky when you're worried about injuring people with super strength. No everyone is comfortable with that caution, even if they thought they were?'

A shrug of her shoulders and she's happy to move the topic on to functional heroic undergarments. "Smart girl!" Sunny offers in her approval and then she too slips beyond bonds of gravity and presence of oxygen alike...and just sort of drifts there for a moment, revelling in the beauty of the sight they were both offered.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"That's fair. I do have to be super careful with her..." Well, he doesn't need to go deeply into that. Mark folds his hands behind his head, and kind of lounges there as he takes in the world below. It is beautiful.

And enticing. A closing of his eyes and small sigh, he returns his focus to the training that he and Sunny had set up for. His body twists out of his lounging state and starts to move a bit higher as he starts to head on a circumvent around the world perpendicular to it's axis. They can move much faster without the pull of gravity and friction upon them.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Hooray for the silence of space ending the chance of there being some superheroic oversharing. Both of them are left basking in the sight, but eventually they come to the thought of training as Mark touches off and starts to move. Following in their wake, she starts to zoom onwards, thankfully nowhere near fast enough to be causing damage to the surface below.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Yes, it's a beautiful view. And Mark is being exceptionally careful. The last thing that Invincible wants to do is cause a satellite to go errant and slam into another satellite and the next thing you know, you have this whole Earth orbit is filled with space junk, like that scene at the start of 'Gravity'. Soon enough, they are almost done with their lap of the Earth and Mark is trying to pick out where to make re-entry to get him back close to home.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Not to mention the chaos of absolutely breaking some telecomunications or GPS or even television satellite. Sure it might not be world ending, but it could certainly cause enough hardship or danger down on the surface that they'd both be feeling guilty.

Hanging alongside Mark's side she eventually points, carving out their path and then beginning to decend. He might take another way or he'd follow...but she'd found her way!

Mark Grayson has posed:
When she points out the re-entry point, Mark nods to her and he turns to follow her back down into the atmosphere. As the heat of re-entry hits, he crosses his arms directly in front of him, allowing them to take the brunt of the descent as they continue towards the ground.

He breaks through some upper cloud cover, shaking off his arms to cool them back down when they get closer. "This was a lot of fun, Sunny. We should train again - next time with weights, got to work on getting that upper limit of strength up!"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Into the embrace of oxygen and thus sound, she nods, a beaming smile before she nods. "I mean, it's better than just beating the crap out of each other, right?" Sunny offers before looking down towards the ground. "Say hi to Bunny for me," she adds before tilting her head to the side. "And sometime, you should introduce me to whoever makes your super suits, or their wholesaler!"

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Sounds good! I'll do both!" Mark promises. "Call us up sometime, we'll have lunch together!" A tip of two fingers to his brow and he turns to streak back towards New York City. "See you around, Sunshine!"
