Suited for Embarassment
Date of Scene: 12 November 2023
Location: Art's Tailor Shop
Synopsis: When Mark brings Sunny and Bunny to Art's Tailor Shop to get Sunny into some new clothes, Nolan's arrival means that Sunny's not the only one getting new duds.

Also Nolan ruined Thanksgiving.

Cast of Characters: Mark Grayson, Bunny Macleod, Sunny Harlow

Mark Grayson has posed:
Mark had sent Sunny directions of a strip mall that features a small department store, Chinese restaurant, and a few other stores. There's nothing really remarkable about it, to be completely honest.

Earlier in the day, before he sent the address to Sunny, Mark was with Bunny. "Hey, Sunny said she wanted to see about a professional costume. Something about making sure she doesn't end up naked again. I was going to introduce her to Art, in case you needed to make any changes to your gear?" he had asked.

Which leads us to hear and now. Standing outside 'The Tailor Shop', Mark is waiting for Sunny to arrive as he slurps on a drink from Burger Mart. It's weird visiting the place he used to work before he got his powers.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny was sitting on the railing of the strip mall. She had absolutely no complaints about Art's work on her suit, and thought it best to voice this in person. She did need a slight adjustment to her goggles nose-piece with maybe a little bit of a guard on it.

Not because of a bad guy, no, because she accidentallied herself into a wall, ad she's still sporting some bruises on her face. She was swinging her legs, wearing sneakers instead of skates, though these are also in bright pink to go with the bright pink denim jacket she was wearing.

She also slurps a drink from Burger Mart, where you should start every morning with a fresh, hot BM stop.

Those kids DEFINITELY knew what they were doing when they set up the sign.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
To be fair, Sunny -still- did shifts as a waitress for the time being, if only because she didn't have a wage for the whole heroics thing.

It was actually why she was running a little late as she turns up, herself clutching a paper bag as she arrives and lifting a hand to wave to the others. Hair tied back, she walks over towards the others and offers out the bag.

"Hey! I uh...hope you like choc-chip muffins," she offered before giving a little grin to the pair. "A little thanks for inviting me out."

Mark Grayson has posed:
When Sunny arrives, Mark lifts his hand in a wave. "Hey!" he greets to the other Viltrumite in a friendly gesture. "Oh man, sounds delicious, I'm gonna have to pass. Stuffed myself on the burrito special at BM before you got here." he admits with a chuckle as he gives Bunny's knee a fond pat with his hand.

"Art just opened the shop, so he's expecting us." he explains to Sunny. "It's not anything special in there." he warns. "But he's mine and Bunny's tailor and was dad's before me, along with some of the other heroes from around here. He knows what he's doing when it comes to fabrics that won't ruin easily."

Despite how many outfits he's torn through in his time as Invincible. Opening the door to the shop, it seems like your typical tailor shop. Examples of his civilian work, bolts of fabrics, a counter with a cash register. "Art!" he calls out. "Sunny's here!" he taps the bell - because really, it's fun to ring the bell for service.

"Come on down, Mark!" And down the stairs he goes. When the girls follow, Bunny has seen the workshop before. There's more advance machinery here. Better sewing machines, thicker and better fabrics. Looking up as they come down, Art lowers his glasses over his eyes. "Bringing home all the lookers, Mark?" he asks teasingly.

Which causes Mark to clear his throat. "Sunny's a friend!" he retorts. "And Bunny needed help with her goggles. Figured two birds, one stone?" comes the curious question as he throws his cup away in the trash receptical.

Art makes his way over to Bunny. "Goggles?" he asks, giving the girl a once over. "Maybe some extra helmet padding as well." he muses, touching his face where she has bruises, before looking to Sunny. "Ah! You're the new one he told me about. He said you made your own designs? We can see about using one of those with some better materials?"

Bunny Macleod has posed:
"Sunnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Bunny gives her traditional, long, high-pitched call out to Sunny as she hops off the railing, attempts to skate, realize she is not wearing skates and then just settles for a half-body tackle-hug to one of the three Viltrumites she knows, the only girl, AND the only blonde. And the only other one that she would willingly hug because Mark's Dad? *SCARY*.

"Ooooh muffins. I have a strawberry shake for you. I wasn't sure which one you wanted but you seem like a Strawberry Shake kind of girl." Bunny grins, handing over the named shake to Sunny.

And in they all get. Bunny also rings the bell for service, because it's fun, it's a button, and Bunny has the attention span of a goldfish when she's having fun. She zips down with a "HiArtHowAreYou?" to the old tailor, and she takes her goggles out from her bag.

"Yeah, I was thinking of beefing up the bridge a little bit. Kinda ran face-first into a wall. Not my fault. And for the record--" she jokes, "I'm the one bringing in Sunny." and then she sweeps over to the side, and plumks herself down on the floor with her shake -- and a muffin.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Muffin for shake? Perfect trade, especially when the blonde Viltrumite giggles and takes the beverage. "You know, I can't even argue...you're completely right." Strawberry -was- her favorite it seemed! The hug returned and a little laugh at Mark's apparent pre-stuffing precluding her gift of muffins, she shrugs lightly. "Dessert then...or more for Bunny!"

A blink as they walk into the tailor shop she -does- actually pause for a moment, but only a moment. It's not like a 'Super suit' designer could advertise publicly.

Further down they go and Sunny's eyes go wide, apparently having missed the little bait at Mark before she comes to the materials, only to blink and turn when she was addressed directly. "Oh! Yeah...I didn't bring my sketchbook or..." she pauses, biting her lip. "I kinda made a lot because...I kinda break them a lot. Spandex, leather, all of that don't tend to like automatic gunfire...or housefires...or reentry...or lasers...or claws..." she trails off, counting off on the fingers holding her milkshake.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Art shakes Sunny's hand as he looks to the goggles that Bunny has. He frowns, considering them for a moment, and then gestures. "I keep the accessories over there." he says, gesturing to the room with a chuckle. "Feel free to look around and find a pair that is agreeable to you, and I'll make sure that we get them matching your costume." he offers to Bunny, before turning to Sunny.

"Yeah, here we deal more with... composites. Things used on shuttles, firefighting, military blends. We'll make you something that won't get shredded and leave you as a look up on that Goggle thing." he promises to her as he chuckles. "Don't worry, Mark has a rolling account with me. When he started, he was nearly a costume a week. He's gotten a lot better at it." he explains to Sunny. "So, show me what you have in mind? I don't do many skirts for girls, Bunny was an exception. I can make another one, if that's what you want."

Bunny Macleod has posed:
"Mine's just a hi-lo sash skirt, but I have full pants underneath it." Bunny grins, and gives a thumbs up.

"Thanks Art!" she quips, and then ducks into the acessory room.

    "Oooooh -- cat's eye!"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Actually I...don't tend to do skirts that much, bodysuits or one-piece things. The first one I ever made was kinda inspired by..." Sunny begins only to blink and look to Mark. "Omniman...wait, did -you- make Omniman's outfit? Did he make your dad's stuff too?" she begins only to blink. "I mean, how many people do you build for?"

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Bunny goes off to dig around in the accessory room, there's a rattling of the bell upstairs. The door to the office area opens and coming down the stairs -- he stands around six five. He's still built as solidly as he was when he was in his prime. "Mark, Debbie let me know that you'd be stopping by later." Nolan announces as he is making his way down the stairs. "I wanted to catch you and Bernice before so we could talk about Christmas." he's explaining, when he realizes that the blonde is not the same blonde he met last time.

Bunny had pink hair at the time.

It only takes a second for Nolan to make the connection. "You must be Incredibelle!" he greets in genuine surprise and warmth. "Mark had told me he had met another Viltrumite, but I had assumed it was a passing thing." His hand is offered to Sunny warmly. "I'm Nolan Grayson, Mark's father. It is a pleasure to meet you."

He looks around, not seeing Bunny. "Did something happen with you and Bernice, Mark?" he asks. "I'm not judging, but it's not often that you meet another of your kind. Especially another Viltrumite..."

Mark freezes. His hands come up. "No. Nothing happened, Bunny is..."

Bunny Macleod has posed:
Bunny is in in the other room. She hears Nolan enter, and freezes, three pairs of goggles on her face, and she quietly puts them back down on the heads they were perched on. She purses her lips, staying behind the door of the accessory room.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Sunny was bent over, talking with Art and actually already in the process of unpacking her bag she'd had slung over her shoulder. Of course, Sunny wasn't going to the cafe to work without her costume brought along. It was the same black and yellow themed suit with the half-jacket she'd worn last time she'd been out practicing with Mark, though notably the legs had been reduced to more of a romper-style after recent damage. Halfway through explaining her style decisions and the importance of pockets...that elevator dings and she turns to spot the figure before her. He probably didn't even need to introduce himself, but when he does?

Her eyes go wide, her mouth hanging open for a second before she remembers herself and steps forwards, doing her best not to stammer. She hadn't been starstuck when she met Superman because she'd been in the middle of saving people from a collapsing dam. Here though, it seemed to be getting the better of her.

"It's a pleasure sir...Mr Grayson...Omniman....sir."

It took her a moment more for things to process, for Sunny to go immediately red and lift her hands up almost hilarously mirroring Mark. "Oh no! We're not...I mean, it's not that he's not good looking but...I mean, so is Bunny and I'd date both of...I mean either...I mean...."

Sunny.exe has encountered a critical error. Currently redder than her old suit, she looks down, back at the super-materials.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Nonsense. There are only the three of us on Earth, and since I don't have my powers, I am estatic that the two of you have met each other." Nolan offers with a chuckle and a grin. "I'm sure Debbie will like you as well. Debbie likes all the girls that Mark brings home."

Before Bunny was Eve, before Eve was Amber, before Amber there was a girl when Mark was like... eight.

But he catches on to what Sunny is supposedly saying though. "I don't see the problem with the pair of you sharing the same lover." he comments with a rolling shrug of his shoulders, "Mark would do something like that not to hurt Bunny's feelings, after all." comes the quiet admission.

"Dad! Not like that at all!" Mark's trying to protest, loudly and quickly.

Bunny Macleod has posed:
The door from the accessory room opens and closes. Bunny's picked out a pair of goggles with an under-the-chin strap with a stronger bridge cover.

"Here, Art, I think these will do better. If they can be color-matched to my costume, that'd be great. I'll get the charge account information from the Avengers so it can be set to my own account." she states quietly, not looking over to Nolan as she turns over the goggles to Art, who is wisely keeping quiet through all this.

"I think I'm gonna wait outside Sunny, Mark -- it's become a little crowded in here." she states haltingly, and then turns to head up the stairs, not looking at Nolan, and goes to exit the shop.

And she dings the counter bell on the way out, letting the door close behind her.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Crap. Crap. This is not exactly how she'd wanted meeting an idol to go, or for her first day getting a super suit...or for her actually admitting out loud her attracting to her friends who actually knew her identity after the disaster that was her ex...all in all, it was really just not going well. "I should...go get my sketch book and...check on Bunny and..." Sunny was already moving, what might have been a handshake with Nolan instead turning to her handing the bag with the muffin Mark had refused. "Lovely to meet you sir, I hope you like chocolate chip, we baked them this morning..."

She was talking and moving, already trying to chase Bunny down...if the woman could be caught.

And abandoning Mark to his akward dad moment. Like a true friend.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Mark never got a chance to defend Bunny. Or Sunny. Nolan steamrolled him and may have ruined his relationship with both at the same time.

Nolan looks on as Bunny storms off and he frowns. But that frown grows more severe when Sunny leaves. "Mark... I..."

"You've done enough!" Mark is literally floating off the ground. "I thought you understood by now my feelings for Bunny! I don't know what you had in mind, but that wasn't it!" he runs his hands through his hair, pulling at it in frustration.

"Why don't you come home, Mark, we'll talk, and you can talk to the girls later."

"No, dad." Mark says flatly. "I'm not. And I doubt we will be there for the holidays, either!" It takes everything he has not to rocket /through/ the shop's ceiling. "You suck!" he manages so maturely as he takes off as well, hoping against hope that Bunny and Sunny didn't bail on him and he's all alone now.

Art pats Nolan on the shoulder. "Kids today." he hoos softly. "Can't live with them, can't mould them in your image."

Nolan's hand holds the counter. He watches after them. He's close. So close. He can't lose them now. "Yeah, Art. I need to go talk to Debbie."

When he moves his hand, the metal of the counter is crushed together.
