Cast of Characters: Evan Sabahnur, Eabha Aine

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Eabha has been asking about Evan's work at Hope House for a while now, and there's finally been a break in both schoolwork and her modeling gigs so that they have the time to take a quick trip to Bushwick. The Corvette pulls into the Hope House lot and makes it's way around back, where he parks it out of sight of the street. (No point in tempting someone)

"Ok, here we are" he says as he climbs out of the car. "It's no Ritz, but it helps a lot of our people." He holds out his hand to her and leads her over to the back door, opening it and letting go of her hand so she can go inside.

Eabha Aine has posed:
So much to do, so little time. Eabha Aine had been charging forward with their senior year and their modeling career like a speedster on caffeine. As the holiday season began however, things slowed down and permitted them the time they needed.

Climbing out of the car, they took Evan's hand and use their other hand to pull their coat tighter around them... autumn in New York was chilly. Glancing around the neighborhood as he leads them to the back door, they understand the importance of Hope House even more.

"It doesn't have to be the Ritz," they state with a soft voice, slipping inside when the door is held open. "It just needs to exist. It's one thing to throw money at a situation, it's another to actually get involved."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
He chuckles, "Well, the money doesn't hurt. We feed a lot of people every week, and that food has to come from somewhere. But yeah, putting time in is important too. There's actually a good deal to be done around here. People don't tend to think of things like the fact that all that food has to move from the truck to the freezer, or all the cleaning that needs to be done all over this place, not just in the kitchen. A lot of our live-ins pitch in on the cleaning so that everyone has a nice place to live, but there's still tons to be done here."

He walks her through the kitchen, greeting the two cooks who are currently working on meals and shows her the walk-in refrigerator and freezer. "I could almost fit my car in here, and we try to keep it at least half full at all times just in case of emergencies." As there's not a lot to explain about food storage, he leads her through one of the doors and into the 'employee' area of Hope House.

"Back here is where all the supplies are stored - cleaning stuff, bedding, basically anything we need to run the place. Also the offices where people who aren't me keep track of funds, which wholesale foods are lowest in price from week to week, all that kind of thing. I'm trying to slowly get into that stuff too, even though it's not that interesting it is vital."

Eabha Aine has posed:
Following along, and staying close to Evan, Eabha Aine takes the time to look at everything that is pointed out and greet the cooks with a wave and cheerful, "Hello."

The two continue to discus all the things they might be able to do to help out, cleaning seeming to be the one that they both agree on. They can't cook, and carrying heavy things isn't really appealing, so cleaning comes up the winner.

"Would..." they start then lower their voice to almost a whisper as they lean in to Evan's ear. "Would it be alright to order things as gifts and have them delivered here? More food, extra clothing, heavy coats cause winter it coming? We don't want to over step or come off as some rich kid trying to look all generous."

Once they are closer to the storage area and offices a grin crosses their face. "We agree that cleaning is likely the best thing we could do to help out," they state. "Laundry, cleaning floors, things like that. You are better build for moving heavy boxes, we are so... delicate." They manage to say the last word without laughing, but just barely.

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
Evan nods, replying "It would be perfectly fine, just send them as anonymous gifts if you don't want them linked to you. We tend to get a lot of things like that this time of year as people start to get into the holiday mood." On her mention of being delicate he snorts a bit and says "That's pushing it a bit I think, miss motorcycle racer. We'll just say there are people who have an easier time unpacking trucks."

Once the tour of the working area of Hope House is done, he leads her out into the residential areas, pointing out the daycare for working mutants, which currently has a small crowd of mutant children playing with various toys, running around, and generally keeping the attendants busy trying to keep track of them all. A couple of them are not your normal person colors, which adds a little to the controlled chaos the room appears to be. Yet all of them are smiling and happy, and that's what really matters. "The kids can be a handful, especially the ones with active powers. Fortunately, this group doesn't seem to have any dangerous powers."

Eabha Aine has posed:
Eabha Aine was getting used to seeing mutants with obvious mutations, like Evan and his beautiful grey skin. There was a time when it would have surprised them to see someone so obviously not human, now though it was just another day.

Watching the children playing, and hearing their laughter and joy at just being kids, caused Aine a moment of sadness that made Eabha frown. They watched the children with their eyes, but the conversation in their head was one they'd had a million times since becoming one body.

"Yes, they don't have any dangerous powers yet," Eabha finally said, Aine was silent now, just watching the children. "We never had a childhood like that, they look so happy to just be able to be kids. It's probably better we don't work in this area though, it makes Aine..." she stops there for some reason, another discussion perhaps. "She doesn't want me to finish that, sorry."

Evan Sabahnur has posed:
"Oh, that's not a problem. There's a ton of stuff to be done elsewhere. Comeon, I'll show you around more." He heads through another door into what appears to be a large common room filled with mismatched furniture, couches, tables, a couple computers on desks along one wall, a lot of them with people of various ages, sitting, talking, playing games or reading magazines.

"This is our main common room for people to just kind of hang out and relax in. It's nicer than everyone sitting in their room all day. And only some of the folks here are actually staying with us, a lot of them just stop in for a meal or some company for a few hours. They're all welcome of course, though we do keep an eye out to make sure nobody is up to any trouble. We've had to as a few people to leave from time to time, but generally it's a pretty tight-knit community here in Bushwick. The main problem are the drug dealers, we do a lot of work making sure they aren't getting in here and using it as some kind of dispensary."
