With her sister Gabby off on a mission Laura's been reminded that her links to the wider mutant community are pretty thin on the ground of late. Which is why she's invited Rachel out for drinks. The finest drinks Gotham has to offer.... Okay maybe not the finest. Or even the most mediocre. Truth be told it's a dive bar and half the people in here are wanted by Gotham PD.

But it's also the sort of place where two dangerous looking women won't draw a second look. And Laura really prefers her privacy over fancy expensive surroundings.

Besides in the future Rachel came from? This probably ranks as pretty fancy...

She's ordered a couple of beers with a fake ID and claimed a corner table. Motioning for Rachel to sit and join her. "How've things been?"

Rachel Summers Sits down. Yep, this place is fancy for her.. most places she went before were holes in the wall.. really just a holes with a table and chairs, maybe some radiator moonshine.. that stuff rotted your guts. It was terrible. These drinks waaaay better.

     she smiles. " I'm okay. Been hanging out with my brother.. still don't have my memory back, but I'm kinda okay with that," she says. " I like how things are going, so I'm gonna stay that way " .

"Is that Cable? Or another brother?" Laura wonders. The Summers family is a lot like buses. They tend to show up two or three at a time. And with all the time travel? It's never when you expect them to arrive either. "Memory is a funny thing. If you don't know what you lost then you don't know if you should miss it or not." She shrugs. "But if you're happy as you are then that's the most important thing."

The mutant former assassin slides a beer over and nods. As if to say drink up.

"I've mostly been helping to train a friend to become a superhero," X-23 muses quietly. Keeping her voice low enough to carry but not beyond the table. "She's got strong powers and good potential. Just don't know if she's doing it for the right reasons. Probably could just live a normal life."

Rachel Summers Cocks her head " She pick a mutant name yet or a hero name if she's not one of us " . She grabs the beer for a good swig " Hmm, better than I've had, " she chuckles

     " It's cable. the other one is somewhere i dunno where, " She admits " I met my mom too well the other version of my mom the one who birthed cable " She admits

"She's a mutant. But I don't really... ask about codenames a lot," Laura muses. "I'll probably only ask if we have to go in the field. It's weird calling someone by a codename when you've known them by a regular name for so long."

She takes a swig of her own beer. Raises an eyebrow and then shrugs again.

"I've had worse but it's pretty average. Although in a place like it's remarkable it's drinkable at all." Probably they get stolen beer intended for much better establishments. And sell it relatively cheaply to get rid of it before the eventual Gotham PD raid. Assuming they're not smart enough to pay the relevant bribes...

"Doctor Grey? I've met her before. She's not big on hot sauce." She's never been as well connected to the Xavier school lot as her Sister. Mostly her time there is spent borrowing the autoshop tools to perform emergency repairs after getting into New York based mischief. "There was a big party at the School recently. I stopped by but it wasn't really something I felt I fit in at. Too formal."

Rachel Summers has posed:
Rachel Summers Nods her head " Yeah, I feel that too myself, to be honest," she smirks as she thinks, " She was very different than my mum.. in my time, she's gone, so I never met her.. even if she's a clone of my mom she's very different" . She sighs " But yeah I get that.. I grew up either being used as a slave or living in slums.. high end kinda creeps me out " .

"A clone?" Laura blinks a few times. "So not Doctor Grey herself?" Not that she knows enough about Rachel's extended family to know how common cloning is. Then again given her understanding of family she probably just assumes everyone has a few clones somewhere or other.

"It wasn't that it creeped me out exactly," she muses. "I just see a room filled with targets and possible ways to eliminate them. A fish knife here or some poison in a glass of wine there. It's not something which bothers me as often as it did. But in that sort of environment? Reminds me of too many jobs." Which is a polite way of saying people she has killed.

"Anyway I find places like this better. If I start to fill like someone is going to attack me here. It's usually because they /are/ about to attack me. I can relax because I'm in a situation where I shouldn't relax."

Rachel Summers has posed:
Rachel Summers She sighs and nods her head " I know that feeling. I was trained to find and track mutants.. take them down for my masters " she rubs her cheek, hiding her marks..

     She looks over " I've already scanned these guys just in case.. but also yeah feels better here because at least here they aren't lying about the darkness in their hearts " .

Laura Kinney has posed:
"Batman tries to keep people with powers out the city," Laura explains with a chuckle. "Not that it works. But mutants tend to live in New York proper. Around mutant town. It's close enough anyone who finds out they're a mutant in Gotham will be pushed out and relocate there. It's close enough after all."

She takes another swig of the beer.

"If you're trying to find work and things to keep you busy... I think Lorna, Queen of Genosha, might be looking for people. Magneto's daughter. Anyway you could probably do some sort of security work. Earn enough to buy a little place on the island?"

She finishes the beer off and pops the cap on another.

"Assuming that's something you enjoy doing that is. I imagine hanging out with Cable gets you into plenty of mischief."
