Cast of Characters: Helena Bertinelli, Kate Kane

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
The holidays are now in the rear view mirror. The New Year has officially begun. That means back to the grind. Unless you're independently wealthy anyway. No naming names here.

At the Clocktower, Helena has returned from her prodigal absence. In the armory area, she begins to lay out her gear and armor. It's a new year, the last thing she wants to do is return to the streets with worn or faulty equipment.

90's Grunge and Alternative plays loudly as she examines her weapons harness. The buckles and clips always wear quickly.

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate descends into the basement, not wearing her costume, but rather a tank top and ex-Army fatigues. Instead of boots, she's got on a pair of athletic sneakers. Army boots are great for some things, but she'd rather have the arch support for a workout these days. Exiting from the elevator, she smiles over at Helena, giving her a curious look, "Was wondering when you'd get back. How was Sicily?"

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Helena Bertinelli looks up and taps at her phone to turn the music down.

"Kate. Hi. Happy new year" she offers with a smile. "You look good. Survived the holidays at least?"

For her part, she's wearing workout leggings over running shoes and a loose hanging black Johnny Cash teeshirt over a sports bra. She's left her hair down for the moment.

"It was really nice. I didn't really want to come back. Except I got a few hints that the wrong people had finally realized I was there. So I over stayed my welcome and then left just before they started causing the family I still care about any trouble." She pauses to grin. "They thought they were chasing me toward Santorini while I slipped out through Corsica."

The devilish giggle she offers is enough to prove she is proud of her antics. She's still alive so why shouldn't she be.

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate laughs, "Typical, I like it. Pretty sure your students would be sad about you staying over there, though." She shakes her head, looking amused as her own red hair is currently in a stylish Parisian bob. "And things have been fairly quiet around here. I've been catching up with things in all the various teams that I got roped into liasing with." She makes a face, "Now I'm starting to get an idea as to why /he/ doesn't like doing it. But it's nice to make contacts there, if nothing else." Her lips curl slightly, as she seems to have someone specific in mind.

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Helena Bertinelli sets her weapon harness down and looks to Kate, "You think so? Hmmm. Maybe some of them. The ones that try, that do their assignments probably. The ones I'm a hardass on because they're trying to skate by, not so much."

"Quiet? In Gotham? I got back just in time then. Quiet only happens right before the chaos hits." She turns to lean against the edge of the table. Tilting her head curiously, she listens. "You're becoming responsible?" Her eyes narrow as she carefully studies the redhead. "Who are you and what have you done with our Kate..." she asks accussingly behind a grin.

"I think -he- (the air quotes are tangible) does like doing it. Because he's a control freak who wants to know what everyone's doing so he can keep ten steps ahead." She pauses, "But contacts are good. I haven't got a lot of those outside Gotham these days." Then again being a hotheaded, quickl shooting vigilante? Is it a wonder no one wants to have her on their teams?

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate laughs softly, "Hey, I said responsible not respectable." She winks over at Helena, then shakes her head, "Big difference, really! But it's just... well, damnit, I met Captain America the other day, and talked a bit. He didn't know who I was, since I was out of costume, but... damnit, he just has that effect. Hell, he was a big reason why I enlisted in the first place." She normally doesn't talk about that stuff, but well, it's Helena, she's a Bird, so she gets it.

She nods, "But yeah, the most drama we had is someone beat up Rook and stole his sword, I think. Been working on tracking down the perp, and I think she might be a meta, considering he was pretty badly hurt when he crashed into the Clocktower after the fight." Even though she explains it casually, Helena can recognize the tone that Kate is definitely going to be gunning for some payback.

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Helena Bertinelli blinks, "Wait. You're going respectable too?! Oh now I -know- you're an imposter..." she jokes.

"Captain America? Nice. You guys get to meet all the cool, pretty people. I get to run into, like, Clay Face and get slimed.." Nodding in understanding about the private details, she smiles. "He's charismatic, for sure."

Then she frowns. ".. beat up Rook?" She pauses, "Maybe I've been away too long because I'm not certain who that is." Given she said 'he', it doesn't sound like a new Bird. "If you need some extra backup let me know. Now that I'm back I'm ready to get back into cases. Crime didn't take the holidays off obviously."

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate grins, "Rook is Damian's new moniker, I'm not sure anyone told him that rook can be slang for rookie, but he's done pretty well with it regardless. But yeah, some backup is probably gonna be good here. If I know him, he probably did the honor one v one thing... that isn't how I do it."

She grins over at Helena, "I don't care about that nonsense, I care about winning. And punking some vigilante who thinks he can nearly kill my nephew and get away with it." Admittedly, he's a cousin not a nephew, but the age difference always had Kate regard him as the latter.

Helena Bertinelli has posed:
Helena Bertinelli aaah's as understanding lights up her face. "Got it. The last I knew I think he was Black Bat or Mighty Mouse.. something" she teases, referencing his short stature.

"Yeah.. honor is good and fine. Till you realize the other guy hasn't got any and brought an army. Then honor doesn't really mean as much."

Turning to start packing up her gear again, she listens. Then she pauses, "Wait. This, uh, Flatline is another vigilante? And hurt one of the Bat family? Damian's a hot head as I recall, but that? Whewww. That's just beyond foolish."

Helena doesn't question the nephew/cousin whatever. Everyone's family here even if they aren't. The details of how is just superficial anyway. Family is family. We learned that in that car racing movie series, right?

Kate Kane has posed:
Kate nods, "Well, it's been a while, he's sprouted. I think he might be taller than /me/ now." She grins, "Which is disconcerting enough as it is, believe me. But I suppose someone has to be." Not everyone can be a not-Amazon and still be close to six feet tall, after all.

"But yeah, screw honor, I would like to win, please. That's definitely one thing they instilled in training." Because, look, Kate adheres to the Bat code, even if she doesn't agree with it and thinks it's more of a guideline than an actual rule... but at least she's talking to one other person that gets that aspect of it.

"But yeah, I'm hoping to find her, beat some sense into her, and see what her deal is before Jason decides to just unload a RPG in her general direction." Because, well, it's Jason.
