Synopsis: Ororo and Monet talk about life, emotions, and the start of the year.
Cast of Characters: Monet St. Croix, Ororo Munroe

Monet St. Croix has posed:
It's a quiet afternoon. Monet is sitting over in the faculty lounge. It's a quiet area, and free of students. She's got a book in front of her which she's occasionally looking through. By the way the pages are tender and look somewhat raw, it's one that's been used for a rather long time and well worn. It has a rather depressing title if one could make it out.. On Nietzsche.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
It's colder outside than Ro favors else she would be there. She pads barefoot into the room carrying a water bottle. She wears snug black yoga pants and a slightly sweaty light gray sweatshirt. When she sees Monet sitting and reading a smile plays over his lips.

"Hey, Monet," Ororo says as she pads in the woman's direction. "Doing some lighthearted family reading, I see."

Ro sits down on a chair and takes a big drink of water.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would glance over at Ororo, moving to put the book to the side, nodding, "It is something that I can grasp on an intellectual level, and find myself needing a reminder at times." For how even the most twisted things can be made to make sense for anyone willing to take it so badly.

"Your presence however is far superior to it. I hope that the start of the year has been treating you well."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Rolling her eyes, Ro replies, "Oh same old student madness coming back from Christmas break. Teenagers seem to think they are the first ones to come up with all the excuses I get for incomplete assignments. And take a teenager, already one of the most self-centered creatures in the universe, and add mutant powers into the mix and..." She laughs in her good-natured way. "Half the time I wanna tell 'em that I was making those same excuses when they were still learning to use the potty."

Ororo folds one leg under her and gets as comfortable as she can on the formal furniture in the room. "I swear they should put beanbags in here to sit on."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "Of course. Teenagers shall forever be with attitude. That seems a universal amongst humanity and the various offshoots." She says this with complete sincerity in her voice to make it sound as if she means it or she's making a very, very rare joke for her. "Have you ever considered somewhat more directness with them to get the point across? Some wind and being thrown up onto a weather vane for a few hours would help in that regard."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo's eyes glitter with amusement. "Oh if only!" she laments playfully. That type of approach is definitely not her way.

She fidgets for a few more moments and decides this chair is not for her, so she slides down and sits on the floor. That's more like it! "The furniture in here kills my back." A small laugh. "I'm 30 now, so it's pretty much all downhill from here."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "I would hardly say it is downhill. Normally one would say with age comes grace, however you are already the pinnacle of such and I'm sure that it will only go further, if it can at all." An actual compliment over from Monet now? Even rarer.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
"Monet! You flatter me," the stormstress replies. She looks down at herself: barefoot and dressed in sweaty yoga clothes, sitting on the floor chugging water from a bottle. "Although I would say at the present moment I'm haaaaardly the picture of grace." She smiles broadly and looks back up at Monet.

"Tell me something. Anything that comes to mind." Ro has this way of connecting with people and bringing dignity to even a casual conversation.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would fold her hands together thoughtfully. "Very well. Are we speaking of business then or current affairs?" Even when told to talk about anything, that is difficult for her due tot he sheer amount of things that her mind is eternally analysing and processing. It is something that she could go on and on for an indefininte period over."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo takes a deep breath and lets it out. "Okay, I'll let you off the hook otherwise you're gonna get steamrolled by that big brain of yours." Her eyes glitter warmly. "Let's saaaaaay...campus goings-on."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would muse, "Much as you stated so. The students are returning from break and I presume that they are rather frustrated at having to do so. The chaos within the mansion is about at it's normal levels of incidents. The faculty for now appear to be weathering it."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ro folds her legs so she's sitting cross-legged on the floor. "I heard what I /swear/ sounded like a small explosion the other night from the student residence. By the time I got there nothing was out of the ordinary and nobody would fess up to what happened." She shrugs.

"What about off campus? Any adventures recently?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shrug, "Well, I don't think there's anything unusual about a small explosion. A large one.. That is worth investigating. And I have thankfully had a quiet start to the year. I'm hoping that the weather continues to be heavy and in turn it suppresses some of the more.. Agitations that come about." By that she means supervillains.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
A warm smile plays over Ro's face. "Hey if bad weather is all it takes to keep the bad guys in check, maybe I should start storming more."

She stands gracefully despite her "advanced" years, and she pads barefoot over to a window. Her gaze roams over the countryside surrounding the school and its grounds. "It sure can be beautiful here sometimes."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "It is a rather pleasing location. And if you don't mind my inquiring, when was the last time you returned to your home for an extended period? You must miss it. Have you ever thought of returning there and staying for awhile?" She would query. "Or are you content to your life and your sojourns as they are?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
The question causes the content smile to fade from Ro's features. It's not a frown, and she doesn't seem upset. Just...pulled from her peaceful thoughts. "I don't know when I'll go back to Kenya. The past memories, the present unrest. It's hard. Sometimes...I guess sometimes a rolling stone needs to stop and gather some moss for a bit."

She smiles once again and looks over at Monet. "That's copyright 2024 me, by the way. I might be able to sell it to a fortune cookie company."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "I understand, forgive me for bringing up an unfortunate subject that you did not wish to consider." She would muse over. "And I thought that those things were supposed to give fortunes, not advise. Or has their intent changed throughout the years?" Perhpas they were sued by people that didn't get what they were told they were?

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ro shrugs casually. "I suppose fortune cookies dish out all kinds of things: predictions, advice, vague platitudes, et cetera." She returns to her place on the floor to sit cross-legged again. "And /you/ have nothing to apologize about. Home for me is here, where my friends and my students are. Kenya is..." A pause, a small breath. "...Kenya is Kenya. A terrible political climate surrounding some of the most lovely souls in all the world. I'll return there someday. But not today."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "The school is lucky to have you with it no matter how long you are. You are a large part of this place and help center it. Your story is.. Isnpirational to most of how no matter the walks of life.." Whatever one has been through, they can become more.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
"What about you?" the stormstress asks, nodding in Monet's direction. "Do you care to share anything about your story? What makes Monet Monet?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix's looks would turn flat for awhile - a sign that the girl was suppressing something strongly and trying to find a way to express it with a minimum of emotion. "I persevere."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ro's expression silently apologizes for intruding. The woman stands and makes an exaggerated stretching noise as she works out the kinks from sitting on the floor for so long. "I, for one, am glad you're persevering. If you ever need an ear, you know where to find me."

Next, the stormstress pads over toward the door. "I think I'm going to head for the dining room and see about something to eat." She purses and lips and looks down at her bare feet. "Well I think I better get some shoes first." She laughs a little in that way that Ororo tends to laugh a little.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shake her head, "You have nothing to apologize for. It is a reasonable question, particularly when I was the one that brought it up in the first place. It is a fair exchange to inquire for in return." It might nto be something she wants to broach, but asking the same of someone else is completely fair after they asked the same thing.

"I hope you enjoy your meal, Ms. Munroe. And I hope to have more conversations in the future as circumstances permit."
