The Universa in Our Hands

Synopsis:	Invincible and Indstructibelle face off against Universa! Sunny might be a queen now. At least a Princess.

Mark Grayson has posed:
The alert had gone out over the Young Avengers alert line. Apparently in Rochester, New York, there was the alert of a blackout that has crippled the city and alarms were going off at the nearby Nuclear Power Plant that there was a major drain on their systems that was unexplained. With most of the group away on other tasks, it was probably considered safest to send the groups two heavy hitters - this being Invincible and Indestructibelle off to investigate.

Fortunately, Mark had been at home and found it easy to get into costume as he is racing towards the power plant. The moon is barely a sliver in the sky, the cloudy and cold night illuminating what appears to be an electrical storm that is raging around the plant at a distance.

But what type of lightning storm travels /up/ from the ground and into a single point into the sky? Apparently something is afoot!

Invincible taps his radio, reaching out to his accompanyment for the night. "Indestructibelle? You here yet? I'm getting close - this storm seems freaky weird, you know?"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
A little couple's outing perhaps? Certainly, this wasn't how most would meet up with a significant other...but that was the life of Earth's resident viltrumites!

Rushing through the skyline, Sunny was once more in her black and yellow costume she'd kept at the ready, leaving only a few moments after Mark as she'd had to dash home first, but the sonic boom of her arriving was hard to miss even before she spoke up in her partner's ear.

"I'm here...and wondering if I should have brought a hairtie...what do you think? Magic? Freaky Alien Science stuff?"

Even as she spoke she'd trail towards him, regrouping while they assess what was going on. At least given their ability to survive in space, both of them were fairly radiation proof.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As the pair get closer to the plant, the figure comes into view. It's a woman. Tall, powerful. And alien. Light green skin, she wears a helmet with oddly shaped wings, a corsetted-halter top of alien design, light shoulder pauldons, large metal banded gauntlets on her wrists. Her mid-section is bare, leading to a pair of bikini-bottoms, a butt cape with a belt and thigh high boots.

She holds a staff that is slightly taller than her in her hands. The top of the staff has a v-shape to it, with a smaller reverse v beneath it. And it is that staff that she is using to pull power from the plant directly into her. Her white eyes shine in the darkness as she works.

"She..." Invincible considers her, and then, perhaps foolishly, admits. "...looks like one of your paywall cosplays." he admits to Indestructibelle, a slight tease in his voice as he starts to approach her.

"Hey!" he calls out to her. "I don't know what you're up to, but you're interrupting a lot of people's lives and you know, not cool to be an energy sucking vampire alien chick!"

In another circumstance, Sunny might be wondering if she'd found herself a new costume idea...but this alien woman wasn't exactly throwing off friendly vibes, so instead Sunny turns to speak to Mark only for him to voice exactly what she'd been thinking, laughing despite herself.

Back to business, she fans out just a little, hands raised to do her best non-threatening she can. "We're going to need you to stop and stand down peacefully..."

Mark Grayson has posed:
Universa frowns as the two heroes approach, apparently not backing down as she concentrates on her task. At least not until Invincible calls out to her - and well, he doesn't really take the diplomatic route, does he? The woman frowns and turns fully towards the pair.

"I have travelled hundreds of light years to this planet to harvest it's energy. Just a fraction of it will save my world from dying!" she declares as she whips around the staff and sends out a massive electrical discharge directly at Invincible.

The blast slams into him, causing him to cry out and convulse as he heads towards the ground, apparently stunned for the moment as the woman turns to Indestructibelle. "Behold the power of Universa!" she declares, her lips, painted a light lilac, pulled into a thin line. "I do not want to hurt either of you, but you will not stop me!"

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Should have asked nicely!" Sunny calls, truthfully. There was almost certainly a diplomatic was to go about this, but then she had to go throwing energy attacks at her boyfriend.

Alright then!

A rush of speed, her flanking position didn't really mean much with Invincible down. They could talk through this, maybe, but Indestructibelle was going to confiscate that weapon first...and didn't mind offering a few bruises in the process.

Mark Grayson has posed:
As Indestructibelle rushes in for the weapon, Universa gasps. "No!" she yelps, trying to pull back, to make sure that she cannot get her hands upon the Staff of Leadership. And while she has it in her grasp, she is able to throw a powerful punch, attempting to trade blows with the powerful Viltrumite bombshell!

After slamming into the ground, Invincible groans, a hand going to his head to shake the cobwebs off, glancing up just as his girlfriend is in on the attack. Bracing himself against the ground, he presses his foot down to launch back towards the battle to get involved again.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Well, plus side? The staff clearly -was- important. On the 'minus'? That punch was actually suprisingly potent, enough that Sunny felt it even if it didn't immediately floor her.

It was a good thing she'd started training with the Amazons, because she was getting more accustomed to being hit by superhuman strength without it being Omni-man ruining their day.

Staff slipped away from her, 'Belle slips low, attempting to try and sweep Universa off-balance...and maybe create an opening for Invincible.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Invincible will gladly pat himself on the back later for encouraging his girlfriend to start training with the Amazonians. Even as Universa lands a hard punch, it's nowhere near Omni-Man levels, much less the levels of an Amazonian. Clearly, that staff is the power item, she's just the wielder.

Which is why she's so focused on it as Indestructibelle tries to keep her off-balance and manages to open her up as she tries to bring the staff around to blast the Viltrumite heroine.

"Grab the staff!" Invincible yells to his partner as he comes in and tries to t-bone into Universa's side. He slams into her, and the alien lets out a loud whoof of air, all of her breath knocked out of her, and loosening her grip hopefully enough for 'Belle to finish the job.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
A staff is a great weapon for reach, for keeping your opponent back...but when the opponent is not only inside that range but stronger than you? Well, it can be a bad time.

Sunny's hands seize around the haft, twisting as Invincible staggers Universa off-balance and then striking hard at the alien's right hand before twisting and shoving her hip to lever the weapon out between the remaining hand's fingers, pulled into Sunny's own grasp where she lets it spin and rest against her back more like a quarter-staff than an alien energy blaster thingy.

Thank the Amazonians for that move!

When Universa tries to come back at her for the staff, well...Sunny drives the butt of the weapon up, attempting for a strike under the offending alien's chin.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"No!" Universa cries out as the Staff of Leadership is yanked away from her by Indestructibelle. Does that make Sunny the ruler of her people? Does she have to wear that costume now? Questions for another time.

Not that Universa is going to get a chance to answer them anyway as she is suddenly rocked by her own staff, and without it in her hands to draw power from, she proves to be very vulnerable and starts to fall to the ground.

Sweeping in to catch her in his arms, Invincible frowns. Not at Indestructibelle. Just at the situation. "Let's get her to the police... maybe we can talk with her when she's awake?" he asks Sunny thoughtfully.

Because it doesn't look like she's going to be up anytime soon.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
Accidental moment of assumed royalty aside, Sunny twists the weapon back to the side and just sort of looks at it. "Given that this thing was drinking up a power plant? Maybe we should find somewhere safe to keep it."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Yeah. We can probably keep it at Starpower until we figure out what to do with it." Mark comments as he floats down to hand Universa over to the authorities. With that done, he rises back into the air and comes back up to her.

"You know." he offers to her. "You were showing some pretty impressive moves there, 'belle." comes his admission to her. "I think the training is paying off." A warm smile. "We can store the weapon and then maybe... figure out what to do with the rest of our night?" he asks.

Sunny Harlow has posed:
"Yeah, I'm not quite ready to be adding a whole 'witch staff' to my look. I'd be missing the hat anyway..."

Staff slung over her shoulders with her wrists resting atop like she were balancing water buckets in some eastern movie or caught with an arm bar.

"I think you're right, it felt good. And it's nice to get into something physical..."

As for what to do with the rest of the night? Well, that just brought a grin to her lips.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Should I be calling you 'Your Highness' or something now?" comes Mark's teasing retort.

But upon recognizing that grin for what it means. Well.

"Let's get this in storage and we'll figure it out from there."
