Cast of Characters: | Loki, Frigga
|
- Loki has posed:
The large, grand library in Asgard's palace is ... currently something of a disaster. Books are animated, flung everywhere, into piles as high as Odin. Meaning, rather tall indeed. Others are being shuffled, and the whole of the room has an air of upset and anxiety. Two books are swirling near the ceiling in a cone of wind, while animated quills quickly copy over sections of blustery, windy text.
The source isn't immediately easy to be seen, because said source, Loki, is sitting to one side in a corner, with a mix of flung books, looking up and aside into space, frowning.
- Frigga has posed:
"When books begin to complain of being mishandled, it falls to me to investigate," a familiarly warm, feminine voice crosses the room. Frigga is at the doorway, her gaze searching for the 'culprit'. As if she doesn't know?
Entering the room, she does pause to crouch to retrieve some of the injured tomes, setting them on the table.
"Is the search a desperate one? Or can you take the moment and share?
- Loki has posed:
"It isn't mishandling if it is well deserved," Loki answers petulantly, drawing his knees up partially and resting forearms against them, hands hanging loose. He is in attire appropriate to both being in the palace, but also to research - fit to impress as a prince, but without pokey-bits that might be annoying to sit in for a length of time. This amounts to mostly green silks and suedes.
"No. I was looking for something to support what I wanted to design, but /these/ books seem more focused on how it /can't/ be done. And I don't take such statements as truth," Loki scoffs. He does get up, then, with a flex of body, out of the corner, and dispels some of the angry movement of books. Self conscious of Frigga seeing, probably.
- Frigga has posed:
"Then we shall find the authors and speak with them?" Frigga keeps her tones light, almost teasing. "They should be taken to task." Her own gown is of golds and blues, green shimmers in highlights. Blonde hair is plaited in the form of a crown about her head, falling in waves behind her.
With the books that she'd picked up set on the table and, for the moment, safe, she remains nearby, brows rising, lightly appraising her son. There holds that fond note in her words, "No, and well you shouldn't. Unless, of course, there is reason." Brows arch quizzically, "Is there?"
- Loki has posed:
"Only safety," Loki says, in a particularly low, brooding way. "For others, mind. Everything I design is perfectly safe for /me/. But if say, another person were to run afoul of a portaling magic meant only for me... well. There are some statements about how truly horrific is is to get caught between one palace and another, in sections," Loki chatters. "But that sounds more like a 'don't use someone else's portal' problem, really." He looks up, to the windy books above, where text is still being copied. Those movements and wind motions are actually related to teleporting, not wind-- using the wind currents as a magical concept, no doubt.
- Frigga has posed:
Frigga chuckles, "Of course." It's never a good idea to create a portal, only to have someone come up behind that plans ill. "Never use someone else's portal. Unless, of course, assured of its relative safety." And even them, one needs to beware.
Her own gaze moves up at the books, a smile still playing on her face. "That is cheating, you know. Copying by hand is the best way to study. Or to search for what it is you need. Perhaps a turn of phrase can send you on a path you didn't expect."
- Loki has posed:
"If I were trying to study, certainly. But those are some that I picked out that I wanted some copies from. For later use. Not /this/ project, but .... fixed, abridged versions for my own library," Loki says smoothly. There's magic here that blocks direct copies, since many of these books are meant to stay put, for various reasons -- but Loki's making shorthand items to take outside for his own 'studies' and projects. Loophole Loki, of course.
"I /do/ think I've found a spell that will ignore some of the library's rules, though." Clearly Frigga will keep that to herself? "Buuuuut, I'll just fix the library's incantations to see through that. Because I'm being good."
Loki's smirking, but also looking a little bored with the idea. Perhaps being 'good' isn't going to last too much longer, in the overall scope of things. Mischief IS more fun. "But maybe add a little something if someone DOES try what I found." A little stab-stab for thieves....
- Frigga has posed:
Well, considering this is a library that she, too, uses, and uses often? "I could find something comparable, if you wanted it for your own private collection?" She does, after all, have some free time available to her.
Frigga is looking at the books, the chapters written in such arcane hand, and the topics covered as they are rapidly copied to a new tome. "Thank you for being good." A smirk does rise, just as he adds his sly comment, and she can see that familiar gleam in those green eyes of his. "If I do not ask, you cannot tell me an incomplete truth." Loki would never lie, not to her! But, there is always the chance of omission.
- Loki has posed:
Loki seems cowed for now. Or at least while Frigga is staring at him. Things sometimes go a little more haywire when there's less supervision involved. "A pity good isn't always interesting," Loki does add, with mild little shrug, and a look upwards. His quills have finished going, and the pages drift downwards.
Loki pauses, aware Frigga will notice what he's casting - a clean-up spell. Giving her that moment to step so that she doesn't end up in the middle of a flurry of books putting themselves back. Loki may have left the mess -- but not with Frigga there. There's some lines that don't get crossed, really.
"Well, I may have omitted when I'd fix it. Some other time," Loki grins. With that, though, he breezes past Frigga, with an incline of head and warm touch to her hand, taking his leave with his materials. Off to continue his mischief, some crazy idea, as always.
- Frigga has posed:
Frigga absolutely knows what Loki is casting, how long it will last, and how .. extensive the radius. Taking a side step so as to not be in the way, things are indeed tidied up. Long gone are the days of having to manage and wrangle her sons just to be sure that things are cleaned and set in their places.
"Mmmhmm.." is a soft response, and as Loki makes his way poast her, the touch of hands warms her own for that briefest of moments before he's out the door. Frigga watches as her son depart before the smile appears once more, and she begins to straighten up.
