Date of Scene: 28 February 2024
Location: SOmewhere
Synopsis: Kara brings Damian to meet Alura, they discuss dating... and fighting a great enemy. It was super successful.
Cast of Characters: Kara Danvers, Damian Wayne, Alura In-Ze

Kara Danvers has posed:
"You should not worry." Kara says as they take some manner of flight to where she expects, in this case correctly, where her mother might be. "She is not a biter." It is a tried and true joke that carries itself well into the twenty first century, but Kara continues to dip into that comedic pool regardless. If it's not broke, don't fix it right?

Once they've landed outside the Sanctuary, the tall booted heroine makes her way inside the ice fortress with a glance hither and thither, looking for the self-same Jiju for which she had made this joke. "Heellooooooo..." Echos. A grin, a glance back, waving Damian inside.

"Come on, I will show you what a real super computer looks like."

Damian Wayne has posed:
"I was never worried." Damian responds. The Batplane had been parked on the ice pack, out of sight of the prying eyes of satellites that may track it. Dressed in a heavy parka to hide his identity, as well as thick fur lined pants, boots and gloves, the young man is well bundled against the cold.

Following Kara down the chosen path, there's a small smirk as he is following after her, his gloved hand pressed into hers as she calls out for her mother. "I still feel like I should have brought some manner of gift." he admits to her quietly as they walk - even if Alura can hear him easily.

A smirk teases over his lips as she suggests that she has the much better computer. "Yes, father has spoken of your mother's computer before, and how powerful it is. And how much faster it handles input." He shrugs his shoulders. "It should, I am well aware of how advanced your society is."

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura was certainly curious when she heard the? a? Batwing approaching. Their alliance with the Bats is an interesting one. Somehow those particular humans had a penchant for uniquely human solutions to very complex problems. Alura is standing before a gigantic hologram of... well it's hard to say unless you're acquainted with the physics of alternate realities.

"/inah/" she replies and walks away from the hovering technological holographic marvel to greet her daughter with a big hug. "You brought a guest." She smiles to Damian, "Who wants to play with Kryptonian computers? tell me you didn't drag him all the way out here just for that."

She has a very passable American accent for Damian, though she also has a very passable Themysciran accent given they were the people she spent the most time with when she first came to Earth. Of course her Kryptonian accent is the real deal, to which she says to Kara, "/tataiium ukep/" .. Why is your visitor here?

Kara Danvers has posed:
With a big grin back at Damian, Kara pulls her hand out of his to gallop right over her to her mother for a big hug. These are mandatory. These are what keep Kara from killing everyone on Earth because she woke up on the wrong side of the bed. THIS is how she remains perpetually stuck in a loop of sunny disposition. As much as the sun charges her powers, her mother charges her desire to not use them for evil.

Not really, but she does give good hugs.

After she pulls away, there's a heckling laugh with her shoulders rocking upwards, gently, and a shake of her head. "No, that was just a side benefit of our visit." Her other hand goes out to Damian. "I have never brought anyone I am dating to meet you. There are a multitude of reasons I did not, but we wont get into those. Instead, I will introduce you to ..." A glance at Damian, tilting her head side to side, "..." Not sure whether to say Damian or Robin. So she opts for a middle ground, "My boyfriend who will introduce himself."

Clever girl.

"Boyfriend who will introduce himself, this is my jeju."

Damian Wayne has posed:
As she pulls her hand, Damian releases it easily so that Kara can greet her mother. For a moment, there is a mote of jealousy as he sees how happy the two are to see each other, and he considers the relationship with his own mother. But he is quickly having to set aside that thought as Kara puts the opus of greeting Alura upon him.

He had done his research and made sure of things, so that when he did this, he would know what to do. So, he does so, straightening himself into a presentable posture. Pulling back the hood, the mask of Robin is worn over his eyes. "Greetings, Alura In-Ze." he offers with warm politeness, before he touches the side of the domino to release it from his face. "You may know me as Robin, but also as..." And the mask comes down. And while he may have the green eyes of an al-Ghul, but despite his dusky Middle Eastern complexion, he's the spitting image of a young Bruce Wayne.

"I am also Damian Wayne. It is pleasure to finally meet the woman my father has spoken of in high regards." But his attention turns to the model and he tilts his head a little. "I'm sure that Hawkin or Deutsch would have loved to have seen that schematic you have up at the moment. Are you searching for an option on how to handle the Kryptonian Hegemony?"

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Is Alura capable of the comings and goings in her daughters love life? No.. last she heard Kara had broken up with some boomerang guy. Her eyes flit back and forth between Kara and Damian for a moment and then she nods her head. "Kara..."

She pauses as Damian goes out of his way to greet her as respectfully as humanly possible. There's suddenly quite a lot to unpack. Damian clearly has the same keen brain that his father has. And carefully applied flattery to boot which isn't terribly Bruce like.

Humans have a whole brand of deception that is different to the ones practiced on Krypton. Different political environments and social expectations breed different survival tactics. She resists the urge to give the lad a hug. Something about the way he holds himself betrays how he really feels. Alert.

"You are very astute," Alura glances back to Kara again and says. "I had a revelation recently. The Hegemony is so far ahead of the game. We don't understand their culture, motives, technology, let alone their plan of action."

She motions to the design, "So I thought what if we took a peek at some alternate realities and see what's happened there. If they exist at all - did they win; and if they did how. If they did not how were they defeated and at what cost."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Perks up hearing Alura's 'revelation', which was something Kara had suggested! Her blue eyes go as bright as the sun itself, with her grin growing to match it. She is, of course, incredibly charmed by Damians' attempts to charm her mother, but that goes without saying. "Inn'e a stinker?" She becomes the wall flower. Hands fixed in front of her short little skirt as if the cold isn't, at least to her. Because it's not. Silly Earth weather think it's important. Hah, my Kryptonian legs do not even prickle to your meager attempts at discomfort!

Your weater shant pickle my skin, no no.

I am above you!

This is Kara's internal monologue.

And why she requires Alura hugs to keep her grounded in reality... or Alura wisdom to remind her she's not, nearly, as infaliable as she assumes. "Mmmm... I volunteer as tribute!" Two fingers in the air, Mocking Jay style. "I would love to see an alternate reality we have dominated all sentient life in the galaxy... you know, for science." Big bright grin. "And strategic advancement we might us to stop the Hegemony, of course."

For science.

Damian Wayne has posed:
Damian smirks slightly over at Kara, a small little role of his eyes. "She grows on you, doesn't she?" he offers with amusement, but for the moment, his attention is on the current problem. And while the cold never bothered Alura or Kara anyway, it does bother Damian, so he's going to remain nice and warm, thank you very much.

"The very definition of a hegemony suggests that their dominance is not just military in base, but also in it's social-political groups as well." Damian comments quietly. "Clearly, they have made themsleves so powerful that many worlds simply capitulate to their mere presence and sue for peace, rather than what they presume is a huge force."

"But what if that is a Trojan Horse?" he asks. "After all, when Germany united under the Prussian hegemony in the late ninteenth century, there were actually less Prussians than any other political party. But their actions were so obvious, so loud - a vocal minority - that most Germans assumed that the Prussians were far more numerous than they truly were."

"Not that one Kryptonian is not a powerhouse by itself, but it may be flexing it's muscle at Earth to see if we flinch because they want us to believe that they have vastly larger numbers. Otherwise, they would have already arrived. After all, it was the same tactic that Brainiac attempted - and he was a Kryptonian supercomputer, no?"

There's a pause, and a breath. "My apologies. Since my father told me of the excursion in Gotham, I have been playing the scenario in my mind, that is my current theory." Another pause and a glance to Kara.

"If you come back as a warmonger, I am going to have so many cross words for you. And will probably shut down all the Weiner Huts."

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura lifts up a hand to her daughter, "Hold the breaks /inah/. Viewing not visiting. The act of communicating or interfering with another reality links this reality to theirs. There would have been records on Krypton of these experiments and how they turned out for us but ... all that information is lost to us. So we should tread carefully."

She grins a moment, "And not forget the possibility of running in to a reality where you and I and the rest of Earth joined the Hegemony. Or for all we know we're the only reality where this has happened."

Her attention returns to Damian and then she glances at the way Kara is hovering back. "She wants to see if I approve of you. Your reputation proceeds you." That doesn't exactly clear up whether she approves or not.

"I'm not so well acquainted with Earth history as you are - but there is some logic to what you say. The Hegemony is unaware of Earth after Batman and I stopped the probe. They also believe New Krypton was destroyed." She folds her arms over her chest. "Even if they are fewer in number than we think their ships are highly advanced war machines - as if all of Krypton had focused their efforts not on peace but on war. Even attempting to hack their ships has resulted in immediately counter hacking."

She pauses a moment though at Brainiac. "Brainiac is a ... complicated case. We know from time travel that he was born on Krypton yes but he didn't truly become Brainiac until he settled on Ka-lua. Though I believe the locals say it differently. At the moment I'm acting on the assumption that the Hegemony is so far removed culturally from our own that it is effectively alien. Even their language is weirdly authoritarian in nature."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara has the momnentary dip in her delight of this whole plan when her desire to visit an alternate reality, even one where there could be an evil version of herself to fight (for science) exists, is dashed by her mother saying they'd just be 'looking' and not 'interacting'. "Of course." Obviously that's the correct answer, and now isn't the time to present a counter point. There'll be plenty of time for that later!

Right now she's watching the pair of Alura and Damian speak history and strategy with a budding grin that shows peeks of her white teeth behind pink lips. Unsurprised that her mother sees through her intentions... unsurprised that she's not rewarding her with what she's seeking... instead she tucks hair back behind her slightly pointed ears and returns them to crossing infront of her skirt.

Time is her ally!

There is the very real concern of the Hegemony that should be forefront of her mind, as it is for her mother.. and to some degree it is. She's just young and full of young people thoughts, while letting the things she has no solution for sit idle on the back burner where it can cause crippling anxiety later in life.

Like a normal person does.

Damian Wayne has posed:
"I'm well aware of the reputation. A brat. Someone who goes his own way when he doesn't get his way. Someone who does not respect others, and as a teenager, was abrasive, short, angry, and willful. And I will admit to all of those things." Damian says with a quiet firmness. "I even had a few choice arguments with Kara when I was younger - before I grew up." There's a sigh. "I can still have my moments, but I have also come to realize that my behavior can be detrimental at times and working on curbing it in. Kara has been witness to that change."

"But I know what lies behind me. All I can offer now is what I am now and what is ahead of me. Your daughter is mischevious and I think sometimes that she is part pixie with her playful nature, but she is a strong ally, a good friend to have, a confidant, and someone I could rely on as much as my father could rely on you." he explains.

"We just happen to have feelings for each other in the process, so it's with that in mind that I ask your permission to court her. Knowing that you say no, I probably will anyway. But I'm being polite." A small smirk at that, but his attention is staying on task.

"I think the glimpses are a good idea." he finally concurs. "Have you found any convergences yet that have met the parameters you put out?" Damian glances up at the situational hologram again. "Surely there is one in there that holds the answer you seek." And then he nods at the talk of Brainiac and it's difference from the Hegemony. "So instead of a Krypton devoted to science, the military ruling parties are running the show." A sigh. "That does make it much harder, doesn't it?"

And Kara should know by now that Damian is not normal.

Alura In-Ze has posed:
The idea of visiting other realities is rather intoxicating even for Alura. She glances a little longer at her daughter almost willing her to challenge the rational stance she's taken on the matter. But nothing bites back which tells her much more about how much she wants her to approve of Damian.

After he finishes listing off all his qualities she raises an eyebrow. With a motion of her hand the designs for the alternate reality viewer shift off to the side and a new hologram appears of Damian Wayne. Floating next to him are notes in Kryptonian in Kal-El's hand.

"That's not the list I have." She motions to the alien text, "It says you are intelligence, driven, with deeply held beliefs that guide your emotional state. That you feel deeply but fear revealing your feelings and that when you find someone you can be your honest self with you will flourish."

Her hands rest on her hips and she smiles at him. "You are the first person to ask me if you can date my daughter. We don't have that custom on Krypton. The will of our children are their own. With a healthy respect for their autonomy comes in turn a healthy respect back for the parents opinion."

"You ask perhaps to hear a threat of danger if you mistreat my daughter, but she is quite capable of handling herself if you break her heart. And that is also not a custom of my people."

"...the Hegemony is a danger because it has not eaten itself. All dictatorships eventually do that yet theirs survived thousands of years and spread across the galaxy like a plague. At the heart of their creation is an idea. An idea that no one can be trusted but themselves. The Oans were revealed to them in their past for their treachery, unlike in our timeline where their actions remained hidden until recently."

"And worse still their ideology was proven right. The only thing that stopped them was time travel shenanigans. Then, somehow, they used their scientific might to shatter through the time line barrier and enter ours. Damian, this is not an enemy we instinctually understand through historical references on either of our worlds."

Her sermon halts as she runs out of words to emphasise the danger they are all facing. "Your father is primarily interested in the defence of Gotham and Earth - he absorbs what I say when I talk about the Hegemony's advances but does not offer solutions. Your profile suggests you would not see eye to eye with him on the matter."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Oh, don't get it twisted, Kara wants to field a whole sleu of arguments on why she should be allowed to visit other realities. It's undoubtedly something that keeps her brain twirling in those waking hours where all but the truly degenerate have fallen to slumber. She wittles away theories, conceptualized notions, and hypothesis that fly in the face of quantum physics simply because... what the hell else is she going to think about? Television, while entertaining, is simplistic enough to be gobbled up in singular weekly doses for short attention spanned humans to digest.

Consider the possibility of someone with infinite mental accumen due to the unique biology of Kryptonians, who requires next to no sleep, and has almost no fears imaginable in her natural habitat... That kind of situation breeds either a great deal of casual observations of the visible, and unvisible, world around her... or a psychopath.

Kara grins too much to be a psychopath.

Her big blue eyes flick up to the hologram of Damian and that grin only widens. Of course Kal has a dossier on the Bats. Turnabout is fair play, after all, but what she reads there has her nodding. Pointing a long digit right into the center of the S on her chest.

As well as nodding to Alura saying he needn't seek her mother's approval.

"You're the only one I've brought to meet my mother."

Not for approval.

She returns her hands to looping together infront of her skirt. A hint of mischief in her twenkling blues.

It is entirely possible she had ulterior motives for the visit that Alura has now capitalized on.

Damian Wayne has posed:
And that is when Damian Wayne has realized he has stepped into Kara Zor-El's carefully crafted trap. This was not a meet the mother scenario. This was a 'get a foot in the door on the Bats' scenario. The look he gives his girlfriend is a mix of surprise, betrayl, and downright pride at his girlfriend's tactical skill.

He draws in a breath. "I was asking to be polite, and I have already been made aware of all the things that Kara is capable of doing to be should I cause her heart harm." he says finally, before he finds himself roped into this, and he glances to Kara. "Don't just stand there grinning like you won. Because you did. Get over here." That said in invitation, his attention returns to the screen and the dossier on him. She's right on most of it - he's just more used to all the assumptions that so many make, based on the actions of his youth. Actions he's been carefully trying to change.

"You are right. If I agreed with my father on all the things, I would not be in the Titans at the moment. I am aware that threat of the Hegemony is multiversal and best met on their ground. Caitlin and Donna are probably just as aware. We are speaking of an enemy that can warp reality to make it it's master. Perhaps, we can use that against them." He looks aside to Alura.

"You spoke of hacking them. And how they change that." He considers for a moment. "What if we double-cross them. Feed them a line, let them assume they are attacked - they counter it and then in that attack - we feed them false information?" he suggests. "Coordinates of our chosing. Of our tactical advantage. Or even, if we could figure it out - feed them into one of the worlds where they have been defeated previously. Though that sounds far more complicated. And takes away from Kara's fun of smashing things."

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura motions and the dossier on Damian disappears. "They aren't all powerful," she states. "We've had success implementing solutions beyond their current understanding. Reed Richard's power systems bolstered New Krypton's shields long enough for my phantom realm drive to phase the city out of existence. That's just a for-example."

Her hands return to folding across her chest. "You want to lure them in an ambush to see what they're made of?" Alura is more cautious than that kind of action in general. "We can't yet get past their shields except through subterfuge. We cannot match their weaponry. We cannot out pace their attack robot production and each of those puts up a serious fight even for we few Kryptonians."

"First we need to arm ourselves with knowledge. Hence looking at other realities. Once we have a way to defeat them then we can lure them in with bait." She nods though, "A decent approach for an ambush."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara furrows her brow. Blue eyes going distant, very nearly binary in appearance, and focused upon the image Alura had off to the side when the pair of Damian and she had arrived. She moves to stand beside Damian, but her grin is gone. It's an expression he's unlikely to have really seen before, but Alura knows it. When the gears start turning... A little twitch at the corner of her jaw.

She turns to Damian and kisses his cheek, squeezes his hand, and then smiles up to both of them. A forced expression. Something has struck her and she needs to work on it. So the demure Kryptonian heads towards the computer and begins bringing up a rapid series of images, figures, and calculations. Completely lost in whatever she's trying to test.

Taking what both of them have said, laying a trap, but being unable to stop their robot production.. The light from the holograms reflects in her blue eyes. "When we are viewing their technology, specifically look at their shields. We may not have weapons capable of breaking through them, but perhaps we can strengthen them." Strengthen them. "Then reverse the polarity so they are trapped inside their own ships. Specifically their production vessels. Stop their war machines. Cut off an entire portion of their military capability by using their own technology against them."

Damian Wayne has posed:
As Kara joins them, Damian listens to Alura and ahs gently. "I did not realize at what step we were at. I should have been more diligent in my questioning." he offers in way of apology, as he watches Kara's expression change into something more thoughtful and the little kiss, but he goes quiet as she lays down her own idea.

"That's a solid thought." he responds to Kara, a small nod of approval at her idea, but really, it's up to her mother. "But that could feed into my original thought - feed them a virus so that it does exactly what Kara is suggesting." comes his own thought of the matter. "Once we have a full read on what we're dealing with. Which means, possibly, capturing one of their scouts? Unless you have already done that?"

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura watches as her daughter goes in to thinking mode. It's been strange to see her less focused on her science since coming to Earth but she recognises this place affords her the comforts and freedoms she could never have had on Krypton. Especially with these superpowers.

"We tried to capture one. We took the captain alive. He's in captivity right now but not a fan of talking. The ship opted for self destruct when it realised we had control. They were in the process of capturing locals and experimenting on them to see if they'd be viable soldiers for their military. Uplifting, I believe your scifi authors call it."

She frowns, "Which tells me they do have a limit in their ability to engage the galaxy in war. They need numbers and they don't yet have it." Her curiosity gets piqued as Kara lays out her plan.

"Interesting," she says and looks at the design of the energy emitter. "Like a ship in a bottle. We can side line them but not do much more. That might be enough if they find their way to Earth."

Damian Wayne has posed:
"So they're using forced conscription to bolster their forces. Any idea of what happens to them when they are uplifted? Placed in mind-controlled armor or the like?" Damian stops his line of questioning and considers his thoughts.

"I do not carry the same gravitas as my father when it comes to his interrogation methods. However, I could give it a try, once I have had a little time to prepare." Just like his father on that one. "I was not prepared for this tonight... but I am glad we had this chance to meet, Alura."

Alura In-Ze has posed:
Alura smiles to Damian, "Unknown. We didn't let them finish. As for interrogation - no offence but we don't subscribe to the Earth approach of extracting information."

She nods her head in agreement, "Yes. It was nice to have a meeting of minds. Say hello to Troia and Caitlin from me when you return to the Titans Tower."
