Small Catchup, Now With More Hammer
Date of Scene: 28 February 2024
Location: Steve Rogers' Apartment
Synopsis: Thor comes to see Steve's apartment when he returns to Earth.
Cast of Characters: Thor, Steve Rogers

Thor has posed:
"I am not sure that I understand the purpose of such a small creature companion," Thor is commenting to Steve as they exit the apartments' main floor hallway and find their way to Steve's apartment. A woman with a small yappydog in the lower area had eagerly attempted to make friends with Thor, to the woman's huge embarrassment. One hero is a lot, but two is more -- and the little dog did not have the same restraint the woman did.

Thor was happy to pet a dog, though, regardless of size, though he was concerned he might step on it. "But perhaps she is also small, so it suits her well," Thor decides, pleasantly. He doesn't mean it negatively, but just is glad to have the question settled in his mind about it.

Thor is dressed casually, just jeans, dark brown hoodie under a layered jacket he was recently given by SHIELD. He wears a bandage on his head and face, still, a temporary covering for the eye, but not some kind of official or lasting eyepatch - more something for easy dressing change taped in place. It comes with some mild disorientation: a care with how he watches where he's going, due to lacking both eyes working together at the moment. Still, he can get a great look at Steve's place with even one eye!

"I have been here before, have I not? It feels as though I have!" Thor declares on entry, inviting himself to sprawl on the couch, with a little bounce-bounce to test the quality of the furniture, arms spread wide across the back.

Steve Rogers has posed:
"Companionship. Just having them in one's life," Steve replies as he unlocks the door to his apartment. "There are much larger breeds too. Though more expensive. They eat a lot for one thing," he says as he steps inside, swinging the door wide for Thor to follow inside.

He closes the door behind Thor, pausing at the question. "I'm not sure if you have, actually. I suppose it probably has a little bit of the feeling of my place at the mansion," Steve says. He sets down his keys on a little stand near the door, and heads further into the medium-sized apartment.

"SHIELD set me up with it after they thawed me from the ice," he comments, watching Thor's massive form test out the furniture. "I kept it even after the Avengers formed and I had the room in the mansion. Sometimes it's just good to get away, you know?" he says.

Walking to the kitchen, Steve asks, "Want something to drink? Don't have anything Asgardian. Earth beer. Lemonade. Orange juice?" he offers.

Thor has posed:
Thor isn't putting a lot of undue weight on the furniture: he isn't testing it to it's limits on purpose, at least. Just his natural weight, spread out. There's no effort to break things here, but Thor does seem to expect sturdiness.

"Yes, perhaps it is similar to there," Thor amends, though he isn't overly concerned. It was more of a small-talk statement in the first place - so even if Steve corrected that he got this apartment yesterday, Thor would have still been sunny about it and not minded!

"Certainly so! Get away to recover one's mind for a time. In a way, the Avenger's Mansion is that for me. Away from Asgard, different outlook can aid in keeping sanity," Thor concurs. The drink question gets a bit of teasing: "No Asgardian fare?!" he asks, incredulously. But immediately chuckles. "I would never expect such when on a surprise visit. Your juice of lemon or orange is equally acceptable to beer. I shall drink of what you partake." Whatever Steve is having.

While Steve is doing that, Thor fusses at his bandage, which makes it loose, and he opts to just remove it instead of leaving it half-peeled. The injury appears to be a swollen closed but healing eye, with a sort of odd blue-magic hue along the deeper parts of the cut and eye itself. Thor puts the bandage rolled and in his pocket.

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve Rogers goes over to the fridge, pulling out a glass pitcher of lemonade. Then two glasses to which he adds ice. He glances over at Thor as the bandage comes off and the eye is revealed. "So I think there's probably a story behind that which I haven't heard yet," Steve says, gesturing with the beverage pitcher, before filling up both glasses.

The lemonade goes back in the fridge and then Steve carries both glasses over. One is given to Thor, and then Steve takes a seat in the chair near the sofa. "A lot of events since the last time we talked, I think," Steve comments. "Including an attack on the mansion to steal something magical, a page from a book, from Wanda," he says. "They had a djinni. I'm not sure if you have anything like that in Asgard. In the stories they tend to live in a lamp and the owner can make three wishes from them. Sure seemed like that was the case with this one. More of a thing from stories though. Or, so I'd always thought."

Thor has posed:
Thor pauses a moment as Steve gestures to the eye situation, and Thor wrinkles his nose a little. "Yes, a story of length, but that I am tired of walking the memory hall to repeat, forgive me," Thor asks, with a sort of half-exhalation. "The brief version being... while I was lost across the stars, I also lost my eye. However, Queen Frigga has seen a manner to restore it, in time." Explains the active magic: it's come a long way, though.

"A recent attack on our very house?!" Thor asks, quickly, snapping his attention quickly to this outrage. "Yes, wishes and trades: fickle tricksters. Did they succeed in the theft?"

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve crosses a leg over the other and takes a sip of his lemonade. An eyebrow goes up a bit at the mention of restore a lost eye. "That... that would be kind of handy," Steve says slowly. "Guessing it's probably not of the medical variety of procedure," he adds after a moment's thought. Perhaps including, whether Earth would even ready for such things if it was something that would work here.

A slow nod is given about the attack. "Yes, djinni just made JARVIS cancel the security so they could get inside. And then made it fight Bruce," Steve explains. Obviously it wasn't Bruce's form that was engaged in the fight.

"Well, I suspect they were either after more, or if not only the leader knew the true objective. I got the impression perhaps he stumbled upon something he wasn't expecting, though I'm not sure if that's true. I only had a few moments to gauge the moment before I threw my shield into the matter," Steve replies. "He did get away, and with the page he tore from the magic... tome. But the rest of his men were captured.""

Thor has posed:
"I would have thought this trickster, who would be bound by lamp or object, would be required to follow other rules as well. Mayhap it was ordered here by someone else. I would suspect this creature to be but a tool," Thor gives his opinion, playing with one side of the edge of the back of the couch's upholstery.

"But, I have also decided to spend far more of mine hours here, backing the Avengers. Should the creature return, it will find us increasingly formidable," Thor says, in the tone of if he were issuing a quiet vow of vengeance. "In lending my aid, I will also ground myself, after those far-distant travels. I---appreciate this time to stay with companions." Thor was lonely.

Steve Rogers has posed:
"The djinni was, but the man who the djinni let into the Mansion, who made it into Wanda's room, well he was something else. He was able to deflect a blast from Tony's suit without even devoting attention to it. Mostly the same with me though I threw my shield into the roof to rain debris on him which took him by surprise. Though he then blew me off the balcony with it," Steve explains.

"Also they came prepared. They had bullets that were somehow magically enhanced to make it through Wanda's protects. She was hit in the shoulder, though it was just a superficial wound," he goes on to say.

Another sip of the lemonade is taken. "Well, we'll definitely be glad to have you. The mansion is never quite as lively as when you're round," Steve says with a smile.

Thor has posed:
Thor gives a deep laugh, and clap of hands. It shudders the apartment some: Thor can be quite effective as a noise generator. Sorry, Steve-neighbors. "You say this, yet it sounds like there is MORE than enough 'lively' quality when such enemies visit," Thor declares.

"But I expect it does pale in comparsion to the positive energy of Thor." There's a smile then, there, pleasure and a hopeful, honest quality: Thor is happy to be welcomed, he hoped for it. And so the kind words about wanting him around are sitting nicely on his heart. Thor doesn't mask his emotions, generally, so there's a genuine pleasure.

"I will begin my stay immediately, to assist in defense against this foe." So proclaims Thor.

Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve Rogers perhaps makes a mental note to pick up some muffins from the bakery down the street to drop by Mrs. Niven's apartment later to make up for the noise. he takes another sip of lemonade, nodding and then smiling at Thor's positive outlook.

"Definitely glad to have you. I need to check on Wanda on what she thinks we need to do about the leader of the assault who got away," he says. "And there may be some interrogations to do. I'm sure Natasha and Clint will be on that," Steve says thoughtfully.

Steve rises from his chair, moving over to the window and looking out at the Bronx outside. "I've been alternating between here and the mansion, of course JARVIS can always reach out and find me if I'm here," Steve says while looking away outside. He seems about to make another comment but whatever it was he instead just turns back and smiles. "You probably haven't ever experienced St. Patrick's Day. We'll have to take you out on the town for it. He was a religious figure, but the holiday is an Irish one, mostly about drinking beer and wearing green," he explains.

Thor has posed:
"Both Natasha and Clint are ideal choices for interrogation," Thor says, with pride in his teammates. There is no undercut, simply agreeing that Steve is making a great choice, and he supports it. Some of the dynamic of how Thor will interact within the team is being sorted out: even just in this discussion. Where Thor stands in terms of the leadership structure or how he is best utilized. Thor is relaxed now, and paying good attention. That is not always the case, when he's winging off to mysterious problems in Asgard: the recent years are full of Thor just not being reliable due to availability.

"I do not have aim to storm into the current situation, as I am not appraised of all details. Should there be attack, though, I will apply my might without pause," Thor clarifies. He's not going to go push Wanda for information, he will respond to things he can best assist with. "However, I will check in with Banner, should he need his spirits lifted." Thor, lifter of spirits!

"Patrick's Day, this is a holiday name I have heard but not experienced. I look forward to it. I own a green hat?" Will a hat suffice?

Steve Rogers has posed:
"Bruce could possibly need spirit lifting, yes," Steve says hesitantly. "There was an incident, last he remembered he was around some explosions in town. Then we found him outside a small town in New Jersey that it looked like the Hulk had destroyed," Steve says in a glum tone. "We're still waiting to hear what the government is going to make of it, if anything. It's been quite awhile since he's had any kind of incident like that," he says with a soft sigh.

The question about a hat gets a soft smile from Steve. "Yes, a green hat would be perfect. They even color the beer green sometimes. Though it might be a little weaker than you're used to."

Thor has posed:
Thor grows serious as Steve describes the trials and tribulations of their scientist. Thor's face is a mix of empathy and dismay. "I recall that Tony had some measures in the works to help contain that. But sometimes rage needs to simply be released, there is no containing something that has to be worked through," Thor says, in a thoughtful way. "I too have seen the edge of that berserker gaze."

"Best to be by his side as the consequences come." A nod follows, firm. Support their teammate as best they can. Plus, Thor doesn't really dislike the Hulk anyway.

"Holiday of weak green beer! It shall be a time of light merriment. I am 'used to' weak beer here, I will not voice complaints. It is about a holiday celebration of comraderie!"

Steve Rogers has posed:
"Yes, if the government takes a sterner stance with him, we need to be ready to support him," Steve agrees. He turns back from the window, walking over to retake his seat and take up his glass. "We'd done a good job of showing the positive he can do as part of the Avengers. I would hate for this to undo it," Steve says in a voice as if troubled.

He lets out a sigh. "But, I'm glad to have you back. As I'm sure the rest of the team will be. If you need any help settling in, just let me know," Steve says. "I think Clint might be putting together a winter camping trip," he mentions. Again he looks for a moment like he might say more but then just smiles instead.

Thor has posed:
Thor hasn't moved from his position, other than to stretch his legs out even further. Thor is very dominant of space he is in; his personal bubble is very broad, even considering his own physical space! He just has his legs out, arms relaxed out, and was tracking Steve by moving his head to observe - but otherwise the couch may as well have been the throne that Thor picked upon arrival. Comfy spot claimed.

"Perhaps we can create more ways to show positive, so it is not just the recent problem that gives a raw taste in the mouth of this government," Thor offers about Banner's issues.

"Camping... perhaps. I have had my fill of sitting out in the wilderness for the time being, but I would not say no to visiting to enjoy campfire tales," Thor smiles. Thor watches Steve, then, maybe sensing the gap of saying more. But Thor isn't a pressuring type, beyond to just be silent and leave the floor open for Steve to talk, if he wants. Thor's manner is comfortable, a soothing trusting pleasure to just being here at all.

Steve Rogers has posed:
"We have these vehicles," Steve responds. "Snowmobiles. They hare two runners like skis in front to steer, and a tread in back. I suspect you might find them to your liking. I know some people in the area who have some that I've rented before, that I told Clint I'd be happy to get ahold of," Steve replies.

"And beyond that, yes, we'd be camping out, cooking over a fire. Maybe go snowshoeing. Which are these wide shows you strap on to help you keep from sinking into deep snow," he explains.

"Food and drink mostly, and stories, yes."

Thor has posed:
"Ah! Vehicles for snow?" Thor likes the concept of that, even just put that way! Vehicles that move on the snow sounds like a good entertainment. "Or perhaps when others fall off, I will fish them out of snowbanks," Thor rumbles a soft chuckle under that. HE would not fall off such a thing, obviously.

"To Food and drink," determines Thor, then, with a lift of the lemonade that Steve had brought before. He finishes off nearly all of it, but makes no face about the lack of alcohol. He wasn't expecting any.
