Cast of Characters: Patty Sloan, Alex Summers

Patty Sloan has posed:
Its Laundry day for Patty Sloan. Laundry day happens at least twice a week for the young lady. Not because she is particularly dirty but because she only has 2 school outfits at the moment and they haven't gotten to go pick up her clothing and her car. That kinda stinks for her as she doesn't really have much else to wear aside from school attire. Patty is in the laundry room, loading her clothing into a washer. The girl looks like she is one second away from crying.

As she fires up the washer, The dam breaks and tears start flowing down the girls cheeks. "Dammit!" She exclaims and wipes her eyes. "Can't let people see me like this." She states as she continues trying to wipe her eyes. "Why couldn't I just do something last night!" She beats herself up.

Alex Summers has posed:
Carrying a duffel bag full of stinky, dirty clothing. It's been a long week for Alex and he's not had the opportunity to do laundry in a while. He steps into the room and hears the exclamation and angst. He gives a pause to his forward momentum and almost turns around to nope out of the room. But then he hears her remark about something last night. Then he grumbles to himself and decides that he should be a good teacher.

Alex asks, "Hey, you're new here. Right? I'm Alex Summers." and he'll carry his bag to the row of washing machines to plop it down on one a few units to her right.

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty pauses as she is addressed. She quickly wipes her eyes which are now puffy. "Sorry. Umm Hello. Nice to meet you Mr. Summers." She is still in the high school mindset of calling everyone Mr. and Mrs whatever. She is still getting adjusted to being in college level classes. "Nice to meet you. My name is Patty Sloan." She forces a smile and tries to make it seem like everything is okay.

As the washer fills up with water, Patty steps over to a chair and takes a seat. "Its a pleasure to meet you Mr. Summers." She states as she wipes her nose on her sleeve. Even now tears are welling in her eyes, no matter how much she wants them to stop. "Sorry. I don't mean to be all teary eyed and stuff. I am just trying to deal with something." She sighs and tries to shake it off.

Alex Summers has posed:
He gives her a few moments to get herself back under control after her words of introduction and niceties. All the while he will put several articles into three washers, dividing the clothing up into lights, darks/colors, and denims. Lots of denim. He pushes the buttons, closes the lids, and the washers start. Then he turns and will hop up to take a seat on the middle of the three washers. "So I'm one of the teachers here... Not counselor or anything fancy which means I'm qualified to listen to people's struggles and give good advice.. Most of my advice is complete crap. However, I've probably been where you are now. And might have some insight... if you're willing to share."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty fights back more tears. "Thats very kind of you." She takes a deep breath before speaking again. "Last night in mutant town, there was gun fire and stuff. I was completely useless. I freaked out and hid inside the clinic." She frowns all teary eyed again. "When I first got my powers, I was held at gunpoint. I managed to use my powers to pin the would be thief down to the ground until the cops showed up." She gives a little smile over what she accomplished at that time. "But since then I've been afraid of so much. Afraid of getting discovered. Afraid of falling from heights. Afraid that I am just going to wind up unable to do anything with my life."

The girl frowns and shakes her head. "I don't want to be afraid anymore. I wanna use my abilities. I had to have been given them for a reason and I want to find out what that reason is. Maybe I can use them to make the world a little better?" She states trying to put on a brave face.

Alex Summers has posed:
There's a knowing nod that comes with an affirmative grin and a raised eyebrow as Alex says, "Sounds like you've come to the right place. Cause that's what we do here. Beyond Xavier's dream of having every mutant boy and girl playing with every normal boy and girl - the school is designed to help teach young mutants how to use their powers in a safe and effective way coupled with the acclimation into normal society where you won't be afraid to use your powers or afraid that you're going to get hurt. So yeah... you're in the right place for just what you're looking for."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"I am just scared that I'm going to hurt someone." Patty states matter of factly. "Even if my power isn't the strongest. I think it could hurt someone. What if I do hurt someone without trying to?" The girl looks very much worried as she questions that. "Last night I was useless. I don't ever want to feel that way again." She explains. "So how can I lose the fear? I mean right now that fear is kinda controlling everything. I'm scared of the bullies that made my life hell. I'm scared of what they will do if they find out that I'm a mutant. I am so tired of being afraid you know?"

Alex Summers has posed:
"We all have fear.. I'm always afraid I'm going to hurt bystanders. My power is very destructive. However; I'm not familiar with your file or your powers. But it sounds like you've got TK... telekinesis, or some sort of manipulation power. That said.. have you been told about our training facilities? Where you can learn fine and gross manipulation of your power. Taking the time to get it under control and not worry about overtly hurting anyone. If it's TK, then it'll become like an extra hand. Like you use your own hands."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty shakes her head. "No. Its not anything cool like telekinesis. I can make the wind blow. Even inside. See?" She focuses a little and a burst of air blows through the laundry room. Its not a heavy wind. In fact it may only be about ten miles per hour. She isn't really trying though either. "Most everyone thinks my power is flight because of my wings but that's only part of it." She gestures to the two sets of wings on her back which look almost like dragon fly wings. She smiles a little smile and shrugs. "My powers are just weird, ya know?" She sighs, "It why I gave myself the name Sylph. Because I'm kinda like an air elemental or something."

Alex Summers has posed:
That brings a broad smile to his face as the wind rushes through the underground laundry room. "That's spectacula..." then he stops. "Wait, you've got wings? OOoh, I thought that was a backpack or some design on your shirt. Very cool." Then he note, "That's a great codename. I'm surprised you were allowed to give yourself a name. Xavier normally doles out the names."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"Nope. The wings are all me." She shrugs and raises them. "I had them hidden for the past two years. It feels good just to be able to let them out a little bit." She smiles. "Kitora was helping me to learn to fly a bit. She lessened the gravity so I could actually lift my weight easier. I can kinda lift myself up with them now but I need to build up my muscles to actually fly around." She laughs, "Well. Roberto... I mean Mr. Da Costa was out with the Professor when I got invited to the school. He asked what my codename was so I just kinda came up with it on the spot. Sort of spur of the moment I guess. Its a fun name and it kinda fits." She states proudly. "Thank you, by the way. I know its not as flashy as some of the other powers around here but its what I can do."

Alex Summers has posed:
He slides off the washing machine and summarizes, not Summerizes. He says, "So it looks like it's settled then. You're in the right place and the staff here will teach you how to control your powers - and even fly better. So don't fret. No more tears. It's all good." --- he does his best to offer words of encouragement and hyper her up that her future is good now that she's in Xavier's. He turns, glances to the washing machine, checks the timer.

Patty Sloan has posed:
"You make it sound easy." Patty says with a shy smile. "Its going to be a long road but I think I can do it." She shrugs and turns to look at her own washing machine. Its almost done. "Fast machines! The one at home would have you waiting an hour or more for a load of laundry to be done." She gives a little giggle. "Perks of a Rich school owner I guess?" She has to laugh a little.

Alex Summers has posed:
He begins walking toward the exit... "Oh, don't let me mislead you. It's a lot of work. Have a great evening. Gotta head upstairs and get more stuff."
