Date of Scene: 07 March 2024
Location: Rod's Bar in a small town
Synopsis: Mercy and Sprite get into a bar fight and pick up a stray werewolf for a bit.
Cast of Characters: Mercy Thompson, Sprite

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy Thompson is not far from her car as she stands there with Sprite looking at a small and rather unimpressive looking bar in the tiny no-stoplight-having town. The sign reads 'Rods Bar' that may or may not been done with a can of spray paint. "You... don't think it be that easy." She looks at the pair of bikes and pick up trucks in front of it. "So shall we go in and see what happens?" She takes a bit to sniff the air, "I can tell SOMEONE goes there that isn't human."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite looks over. "Sure. We'll see if I get the "hey, you can't have kids in here!" bullshit." The redhead shakes her head wryly.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy blinks at Sprite and it takes a moment to realize what she means. "You know I have you wired in my brain so firmly as 'not a kid' I don't even realize that's a thing sometimes." She offers a shrug and starts to walk toward Rod's Bar. The smell of lots of stale cheep cigarettes, urine, vomit, lots of beer, and the occasional sex assails Mercy's nose so strong she pauses and stops to rub at her nose. The gesture a bit more like when she's in animal form then human. "Damn I hate places like this. How do humans not gag? I mean can they honestly not smell all that?" Clearing her throat she'll reach for the door and opens it for Sprite.

Sprite has posed:
"Well, yes. But that's because I've also---oh, fuck. Did something dry up and die in here? It's like a pet cemetary for rednecks." The place suddenly smells like good pizza. Because fuck these people. "Smoking. I think."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The change in smell helps a lot and Mercy says, "You don't have to do that. Besides it may make it harder to find the guy." Soon as they walk in they see about eight guys all sitting in there. Four of them firmly are in that 'beer gut overweight' stereotype that exists for dive bars for a reason. Two are playing pool, that are a bit more in shape, one a much older looking scruffy gray haired man, and the other is a younger version of him that screams brothers or something. There's one guy in the back with a beer and a 'FUCK YOU' expression that is staring harder at the girls walking in. The bartender looks like he was a football player in high school and tried to keep in shape in spite of working a bar. "You ladies lost," he asks from there.

Sprite has posed:
In that case, the stink returns. Sprite looks over. "Lemme guess. Your top seller is Natural Light." she says, commenting to the bartender as she looks over. If they're focused on her being snarky, they're not paying attention to Mercy.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy is doing a slow sweep of everyone, taking slow even breaths. Even if the last thing she wants is to lock this place's smell into her memory. The bartender huffs and says, "Look her little miss. Smart tongues in these parts earn you a slap, not bat on the head. Keep your smart ass comments to yourself." One of the beer gut guys at the bar turns and says, "you two don't belong here. Go find some cartoons to watch."
The pair playing pool glance over but don't say anything yet. Just watching and seeing. The guy in the back somehow manages to scowl even harder over the edge of his mug as he takes a drink.
Mercy shakes her head, "Don't think he's here. But he comes here. Pretty often I say." She glances at the Eternal and asks, "Want to sit here a bit and find out?"

Sprite has posed:
Sprite looks over. "We can watch. Or we can incentivize these yahoos to talk." Only Mercy hears what she actually said. The others in the bar just saw and heard an indignant "Cartoons?! Pre-internet backwater..."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The big guy who turned toward Sprite stands up and scowls at her, "How about I slap that smart mouth off your face." The bartender clearly is getting rubbed at having his bar insulted. The two guys playing pool pause. Several of these guys look happy to get into a fight but also not liking the idea of fighting a little girl. Mercy is just watching the room and asks, "did you have something in mind or should we just ask?" She points to an empty table, "I'm going to sit there." Clearly going at the table this guy seems to take often.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite looks over to him and bats her eyes. "You're gonna hit a little girl? Even out here I figure that'd be past low standards. You know, they usually frown on you hitting kids that aren't yours." She tells him, and then looks back to Mercy. "Well, at this rate, I think I'm collecting volunteers."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy shrugs and asks, "You want help or shall I let you play?" The bartender puts a hand on the big guy who is glowering so hard at Sprite, "Easy Al. She's a kid. Don't let her get to you." The guy, Al, says, "Someone should teach her some damn manners." The scowling guy in the back drains his drink and gets ready to stand as well. Mercy is about to move when something catches her attention, this lets Sprite know someone is coming, as Mercy turns to the door.
Four guys walk in, one guy screams 'mountain man' from like Daniel Boone era or something. Boots, worn slacks, suspenders, a short and trimmed beard, dark hair, a handkerchief in his back pocket. The guy behind him has a leather coat, a 'Sons of Anarchy' tee shirt, the third guy is the biggest of them. Well past six feet tall, built strong and powerful in just basic tee and jeans. The last guy is slim, weasel like features with torn old clothes, but has sharp eyes. "What the fuck is that smell," then he stops staring at Mercy. Sniffing as the three men are all also now staring at Mercy. Seems our guy made some new friends. Mercy grins and says, "looks like the strays came back."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite looks over as Mercy stands. Awww. Playtime has to wait. Still, nothing here is coming remotely close to concerning the Eternal. She looks over to the new arrivals, but doesn't say anything. She's here to back Mercy up; this is her show, until things go live.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The Weasel guy pushes past his three cronies, "this is my bar." Snarling at her as he bares teeth and hunches up. "Oh getting territorial right off the bat. You want to do this here? It isn't going to go your way, dumb ass. You know what you did." She looks at the three guys. "I can see you shifting. Looking unsure but wanting to back him up. Guessing most of you are less the six months, at best." She shifts her own weight to be ready.
Everyone is watching the two smaller women square off against four larger guys. The bartender says, "what's this about Graham?"
Mercy picks up and says, "if your place gets damaged, I know someone who can pay you back. If you don't want to be a fight, go out the back. Now. If you back up these four I won't pull punches for your sake." Some guys just laugh. The angry guy in the back grabs a bottle to arm himself. The two playing pool just move to the wall. Watching and staying quiet. Sprite's toy grins, "if she throws the first punch I can't get in trouble."
Graham is almost growling now. "What do you know about me? What are you? This is my turf! These three are with me and do as they're told." He starts to reach for Mercy and suddenly her gun is out and pointed at him. That seems to make him pause but clearly it is enough for drunk asshole to suddenly try to grab at Sprite. SoA shirt guy tries to move to Mercy's side, the big plan guy stands still, and the mountain man pulls a BIG knife from behind his back. "Let's dance."

Sprite has posed:
The redhead looks over, amused, at the show...and then this drunk idiot tries to grab her. Well, DOES grab her. She's not going to bother dodging him. At the moment, she's just going to no-sell it, as she looks over to him, unimpressed. "So, which is it? Do you get off on beating girls, on beating kids, or are you just a kiddie porn enthusiast?" she asks him, innocent in tone if not in choice of words. Without looking, she calls over. "Say when, Mercy."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"I'm giving the guys out the back a chance to get away, and see if this guy has a brain left. Body language says 'no' and I'm going to be making a lot of phone calls." That's when Graham laughs, "Like I'm scared a guy. Especially a pop gun like that." He lunges at Mercy and she fires. Not once, but three rounds rapid right at the guy's chest. He staggers back and expects to be fine but then notices something is up. "Silver dumb shit. Not that you weren't a walking corpse already."
That's when things go wild. Big guy who has Sprite pulls a fist back and throws a hard cross right at her face. The guy in the back with a bottle freezes at the gunfire sound. The SoA guy, rushes at Mercy about the same time Mountain Man comes in with a knife. The biggest guy stand there and is quivering in place taking big gulpy breaths. The two who were playing pool and just watching look unsure what to do. The bartender is screaming, "HOLY FUCK," as he dives for where a shotgun obviously is.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite actually lets the fist connect. She could have dodged it. She could have blocked it. A dozen different options. But nope. She lets him pound his fist into her face...because it's probably going to be akin to hitting a wall. She's still an Eternal. "So all of the above?" She asks. But she then grabs his arm...stands...and lobs drunk boy at Mountain Man. She looks over to the bartender. "If you're grabbing for a shotgun, you better get some salt off the bar too." she says, idly conversational.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The man punching at Sprite threw his weight into it. Which means she can hear his hand, maybe wrist, crack when it his her face. "Owww what the fuck!?" Letting her go as he cradles his hand. The bartender does come up with a shotgun but it's pointed at Mercy and not Sprite. "What," he asks in total confusion to what Sprite just said. Graham staggers back and falls to the ground, a lot of blood coming out of the wounds. Drunk guy wasn't expecting to be flung like he was the child, and Mountain Man wasn't expecting it either, which is why they both go down in a heap. The SoA guy tries to grab at Mercy, but she's had way more hand to hand training and is stronger then she looks. Sure HE is still way stronger then her, but she's used to dealing with that. Which is why he's suddenly getting hip tossed onto a table to crash down. Beer bottle rage guy in the back throws said bottle at Sprite and snarls. "I bet she's a mutie freak like you hear on the news! Get out of here you freak of nature!"
While this is all going on the really big guy starts to shake more and is staring at the dead body. He licks his lips, eyes unblinking and scratching at his arms now. "Shit!" Soon as Mercy notices it, "Sprite he's going to change and he's too young to know control yet."

Sprite has posed:
The confusion was what she was looking for. Sprite smiles. "You're gonna want to salt that thing before I feed it to you. Which is exactly what I'm going to do unless you put it down, right now." The bottle breaks on her, and she looks amused. "Wrong guess, but hey, you still get your bigot points." Oh, fuck, though. She finally has to get involved. Maybe. She'll try to avoid the violence first. All Eternals are telepathic, and while it's not her strongest suit, she sends right into his mind with the equivalent of a telepathic shout. **CALM. DOWN.**

Mercy Thompson has posed:
That mountain man tosses the drunk off him as he gets up. SoA guy is trying to get to his feet as well only to get finished by Mercy. She fires twice, putting on in the guy's guts and the second one enters his head to end him. She is still glancing at the big guy who is threatening to change a lot. "We can't keep this quiet with gunfire and if that guy looses it." They do have several witnesses here. The bottle guy picks up a chair and is getting ready to try and smash it on Sprite. Only to get shot by the bartender, "Gun's not for you, Missy." Looks like it was loaded with rock salt or very under powder buck shot. "Regulars or no, you don't hit girls." He ratchets another round, "Nobody else do anything with whatever that mess is or you get the same."
Mercy's ears are ringing from the gunfire and says, "can you mask me and keep this ass hat busy for me?" Mercy is watching the guy as she seems to have an idea.
Sprite's shout does make the guy pause and look around confused. Sniffing the air though draws his eyes back to the blood. Does look like she got him to at least pause and not scratch as much. It's clear he still is heading for a 'pop' as it were.

Sprite has posed:
"Glad to hear it. Thanks for putting the "good" in "good ol' boy"." Sprite says. She looks to Mercy **Got you.** She sends back, making the woman invisible to the locals. She starts over towards mountain man and the guy nearing change. "Do the smart thing, guys. Step outside. Deep breath. Sun is warm, grass is green. Fighting isn't gonna help anyone."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy needs to be visible to the near shifting guy, and lets Sprite know that. Mercy holsters the gun and rushes to him. Gibbs slapping his head, "HEY! Stop that." Talking to him as she grabs the much taller guy by the neck and uses the bossiest boss voice she can manage. Growling out, "Chain the beast. Leash it now or it WILL kill you." She has to use all her strength to get him to turn away from the dead body on the ground. There's some gasps as Mercy goes POOF to most. The bottle guy snarls, "TWO of them! They're both mutant and killed Graham." The bartender gives a nod to Sprite, "just stop talking shit about my bar." Then aims the gun at jerk off. "Stay down Clarence. I WILL shoot you again. Shut up and lay there." Then he comes out saying something clearly none of the others knew. "My cousin who left for collage has a girlfriend that's a mutant and she loves her." The two who were playing pool hang up the cues, Sprite can see at least one of them is armed. Though she has mountain man and the knife he has to face. He comes rushing at her, "I bet you taste real good, gonna chomp your heart." Clearly trying to stab her with the blade.

Sprite has posed:
*SIGH* "Never. Why do people never learn. Do you know how many times I've seen this?" There's a ripple of golden light over her form, and the simple civvie clothes she's wearing give way to her actual Eternal attire. She floats up into the air by about six inches, and when she speaks, her voice has reverb and cracks like thunder. "Stop now, or BE stopped." She made sure that the one Mercy is dealing with can neither see nor hear her, though. He needs to focus on Mercy. But if putting on a little goddess show stops her from having to do actual harm to people, so much the better.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The guy's blade doesn't seem to go into Sprite like he was expecting. Then Sprite goes full blown uber mode and that does seem to wow all the 'normals' into line. The bartender is staring at her, the beer bottle guy wets himself, the younger of the pool guys gets his phone out to try and snap a picture of her and this moment. The mountain man snarls in frustration and demands, "What are you and that dark skinned bitch?! She clearly ain't pure."
Between the mental shout earlier, and the display now it helps the big guy to try and slow his shifting down. He blinks for the first time since this started and Mercy has had it with someone trying to hurt a friend who is here. She pulls her gun and since he can't see her he is a sitting duck. She puts one in his head. "Nobody hurts my friends!" Even if nobody BUT the one guy and Sprite see her right now. She yanks the big guy's shirt to get him to her eye level as her legs kick at his. "HEEL! Look here. You got pulled into shit and need to be smart or be dead. Your choice." This guy who towers over the girls and out weighs them combined looks wide eyed at them. "Live. I like to live please," his voice deep and full.

Sprite has posed:
The Eternal is more annoyed at herself than anything. She could have solved this with one explosion of TK force. But it would have messed up the bar, and probably hurt people. There's no sign of the wound, of course. If you're being a goddess, you don't let them see you bleed. She didn't think to mask it from the super-senses person here, so there is the smell of blood. "All of you who are NOT the bartender, go home." She looks to them, eyes glowing golden. "Forget anything you saw here this evening."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Some share glances but most seem to buy that this is NOT the time to question it. All the aggressors are dead and on the floor. So most get going. Racist guy muttering curses as he heads for the back door. Mercy is busy keeping the big guy in as submissive a position as she can while keeping a tight grip on him. The two guys playing pool just nod, but the younger one pouts. "Damn. I wanted to see more cool shiite. Awe well." He'll head with his friend out the front door. The bar tender just slowly moves to lay the shot gun on the bar. "Don't make my head go pop please," he tells Sprite. The bar is getting a LOT quieter in a hurry.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite lands, the glow stops, and the reverb stops. "Told you, good in good ol' boy. I'm not here to hurt people. If they just did the smart thing, that's all they would have had to do." She takes a napkin from a dispenser, and presses it up to her wound.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The bartender nods and then looks at the three dead people here on his bar's floor. "Graham's been here a while. Always was an asshole. The others with him are fairly new to town." Mercy is keeping an eye on Sprite about this and looks pissed as she asks, "you going to be alright? Everyone seems to be getting it together." She looks at the big guy and says, "You sit there. Right there on the floor. Not the chair. Sit and keep your eyes on me and not anything else." He gives a single nod even if it's clear he wants to glance at the bodies. Mercy is reaching for her phone. "Hey 'good guy,'" then realizes he can't hear her. "Sprite, we should find out where to bury some bodies or dump them if we can. I'm sure someone left keys behind."

Sprite has posed:
"I'll be fine." Sprite says. She uncloaks Mercy, and then looks over to her. "I'll take care of it." She raises a hand, TKing the bodies off the ground and towards the door. The less people know, the better.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"I brough stuff," offers Mercy. "This was supposed to be fun for you and not work for you." Mercy doesn't look happy but seems pleased that the bodies will be gone. She looks at the bartender, "Got a mop and does this place own any bleach?" The bartender huffs a bit, but Mercy interrupts whatever he was going to say. "This place could use a real cleaning." She hits a speed dial in her phone and holds it up to her ear. "Mercy here. The stray is a rogue. Made three mini-mes. Stray and two taken to pound. Got a new pup that needs a pickup. Reception here sucks. So hit me back. Oh and look up Rod's Bar here. He's owed a floor cleaning, and a tip for being a good guy." That leaves Rod looking confused but also grateful. "So... are you?" The guy trying to ask Sprite if she's a mutant, though she may not remember that with everything else.

Sprite has posed:
Sprite looks over, and shakes her head. "No. I'm complicated." She steps outside, floating the bodies with her, and there's a loud BOOM a moment later, before she comes back in.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
The boom makes the new guy jump and look scared for a moment. Mercy puts a hand on his head and stands near him. Just to give him something physical to ground himself too. Mercy says, "Thanks. I owe you. I got a first aid kit in the car, want me to look at it?" She looks over from Rod and the other guy. Finally she orders, "Wallet." Snapping her fingers at the big guy to get his ID and information

Sprite has posed:
Sprite comes back in, and tosses the napkin in the trash, letting her clothing shift back to normal with that same golden glow.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Love the outfit by the way." Mercy smiles about what Sprite wore briefly. When handed to her Mercy takes a picture of the ID on it and will text the image to someone. Though it's not for the state they are in. She hands it back to him and tells Sprite. "So. We should leave. We're going to get reported. Rod you'll get a call soon on your phone. I'd be honest with the voice that says they are 'a friend of Mercy' okay?" The guy nods and moves to put the shot gun away, then flip the sign to closed. "Whatever you say miss." Mercy then tells the big guy. "Follow me. Come on 'Glow Up' let's get going. I bet I know where I can drop off this guy."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite takes a moment, and closes her eyes, cupping her hands. She concentrates, as a golden light shines between them again. Another one of her powers she doesn't use a whole lot. She hands over a ping-pong-ball-sized sphere of gold to Rod. "For the trouble." she says.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy's jaw drops some. "Well my friends were going to help but um... that definitely will cover it." She shakes her head and opens the door for Sprite. Finally the big guy speaks up to Sprite, "Um.. Hi. I'm Matt. Thanks for earlier." He may tower over them but he can meet neither woman in the eyes and is about half a second from toe kicking the ground and dropping his chin to his chest. Mercy says, "We can get in the car and drive. I am sure I can meet someone to hand off Matt here, then we can get to our road trip back if you like Sprite."

Sprite has posed:
Sprite nods to him. "It's okay, man. Just listen to her, and you'll be just fine." She nods to Mercy. "Sure. On the road again." She smiles and heads for the car.
