Date of Scene: 13 March 2024
Location: Student Gardens
Synopsis: Patty Sloan meets Ororo Munroe. Plans are made for a fun night!
Cast of Characters: Patty Sloan, Ororo Munroe

Patty Sloan has posed:
Its an unseasonably warm day. A day for t-shirts and shorts. That's for certain. Many of the students are out enjoying the warm spring day. One such student is Patty Sloan. She happens to be dressed in an Xavier's t-shirt and a pair of ripped up jeans. Her top has been modified to let her wings out so she can actually practice flying if she so chooses. Her shoes are pink and white sneakers.

Patty is out in the student garden. Some people are out working the soil, getting it ready for planting season. That is not why Patty is out here. She is out here to practice control. She has a plastic bag with her. She drops it and focuses on the air around her. The plastic bag lifts up and starts blowing around in circles. Then it starts going to the left. Then to the right. Up. Then down. Anyone close enough would feel some wind quickly changing directions, blowing up and down, Left and right. Just as the bag is responding to.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Despite rumors to the contrary, Ororo Munroe does not always adjust weather patterns to avoid inclement weather for the mansion, even if she was in fact actively adjusting weather patterns earlier in the day. It wasn't for anything so enjoyable as a balmy unseasonably warm day for her students however, simply lessening the impact between a series of storm systems in the midatlantic that would have threatened several maritime vessels.

And returning from that 'errand' as she might call it is really more than dramatic enough, shining silver of the costume she'd picked out for the trip... was it necessary for calming some storms hundreds of miles off shore? No. Not at all. But fashion is still important. She breezes in from above, quite literally, only for her control of the winds to be released with several feet to go. Not so high that long legs can't flex to absorb the impact.

But she simply couldn't risk interrupting Patty's practice of her powers, and while it might cause the bag to wobble a bit, Ororo's doing her best to be polite and not cause more than that as she lands and smiles lopsidedly, hand lifting in a small wave to Monet, eyebrow lifting at her injured appearance, "Well, I do hope I haven't missed anything too dramatic..." She glances to Patty with a wry grin, "I doubt it was your bag that did such to Ms. St. Croix? ...Though I will be suitably impressed if it was."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty's bag moves in a way that she didn't direct it to. She feels the winds change and she looks up to see a woman dropping in. "You must be Ms. Munroe." Patty states as she looks over the woman known as Storm. "No I didn't do anything to Monet. The only thing I did anything to anyone was a misogynistic man at a diner. He deserved it." She snickers. "I made him wear some of his soup. He didn't know it was me. It splashed on his shirt. He blamed it on the air conditioner." She giggles. "Its the first time I ever really did anything to anyone. To be fair he was being a real jerk to me. Trying to say I'm only good for being in the kitchen and 'something else'. Thankfully he didn't continue that comment."

She focuses on the bag again and starts moving it all around once more. She is definitely getting better control of her air powers. Though even she doesn't know what she can actually do.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo's lips spread in a wide, genuine smile, head bobbing, "Guilty as charged... about being Ms. Munroe. I assure you, any other accusations are unfounded." She pauses for a moment and then huffs out a soft sigh with a tilt of her head, face screwing up. "Oh. Well... good on you. Sometimes people won't learn a lesson until they take a few lumps." She clears her throat and gestures, "I'm sorry I'm dressed so extravagantly. I really thought I'd fly out, soothe a few storm systems, and come back and change before anyone saw me... but..." She clicks her tongue, "It still fits. I must have been responsible during all the Christmas feasts."

And then Ororo's stepping around the garden carefully, after all, the heels for that costume are not meant for stepping in rich soil, and 'Gliding out of the sky to literally eat dirt when walking' is not nearly as regal as she wants to be for the mansion's newest resident! "I admit, you've picked one of my favorite places for being inspired. And most of the more rambunctious students and faculty forget it exists... which is /why/ it's a favorite..." She gives a little wink. Oh that Storm, always trying to show she's not just a Goddess! She is cool and laid back, dear students!

Patty Sloan has posed:
"Nice to meet you Ms. Munroe, I'm Patty Sloan. I just started here about a week ago." She gives a polite smile. Then with a gesture of her hand, the bag flies to her. She catches it and gives a little bow. "Thank you, Thank you!" She giggles having said that. "I like how quiet it is here. I don't wanna distract anyone with making wind blow and stuff." She stretches her arms and her four wings extend out in a stretch as well.

"Sorry I am still getting used to everything. I didn't get to really have my wings out when I was living at home. They were always tied down with belts. I still have to do that when I go out. I was told to talk to Dr. McCoy about a better option than belts." She shudders. "No idea what he will come up with." She smiles. "I really do like this part of the grounds. I've been running around the grounds in the mornings and I always wind up coming here to practice control."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
There's not even the slightest attempt from Ororo to hide her smile at that flourish, hands coming together in genuine but respectful applause, head dipping. "Oh, don't worry... I do not think 'wings' rate on the list of 'disruptively rambunctious' powers around here..." She frowns in mock thoughtfulness, "Though I suppose that may be because the scale is skewed somewhat by Ms. Smith and her bombs, and Mr. Quire and his..." She trails off for a moment, "Well, really, just for Mr. Quire in general. Though I believe he would be happy to hear he is considered disruptive in totality."

She nods and sighs out, "It is, unfortunately, still most safe not to be too open with your gifts around the general public. Westchester is not so bad, but yes, New York City is not... well, it is much larger. And so there are, as expected, more..." She trails off for a long moment, searching for words, "Misguided and unpleasant individuals." She narrows her eyes and murmurs dryly, "If he begins to sound too terribly much like a mad scientist, please let me know and we shall rein in his enthusiasm to a more practical solution."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"I kinda got mixed up in one of," She pauses, "You know who's Missions." Patty comments not wanting to mention the X-men out loud as she doesn't know who knows and who doesn't. "I wound up really using my abilities hard during that Mission." She blushes a little bit. "I'm not super strong but I was able to smash some spider sentinel drones." She shrugs and smiles.

"Yeah. Where I grew up, I had to keep my abilities and my wings a secret. I actually found out why when I blew one of my bullies into a DVD display at a Walco." She shudders. "Got called all sorts of colorful things. Someone got me out of there and dropped me off in New York City." She smiles a little smile. "Then I met Kitty Pryde and several others. Jubilee actually brought me here. I got to start college classes so thats cool!"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo nods solemnly and taps the side of her nose, "Well, you seem to have handled it well enough." She grins crookedly and nods her head even more eagerly, "That's... good. That is what we endeavor to instill in students. Knowing your powers not just to know yourself, but so when the unexpected happens, you can help." She sighs out, "Ideally the unexpected would be... ferris wheel malfunctions or someone falling off a ladder, not killer robots. But..." She slumps just a little. "It is often killer robots."

She grins crookedly, "Oh! Well, if you've met Kitty /and/ Jubilation, I suppose you've already seen how welcoming we are! I'm glad you're already adjusting. This will always be a home when you need it, and we will be your family." She winks, "And if anyone calls you anything colorful, please let me know. And I will throw them through a DVD display far more directly than using wind, yes? It is the only way some people will learn. And sometimes it takes a few... lessons."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty laughs at that. The idea of seeing bullies getting thrown into DVD displays is some funny stuff. "OH! Here!" She gets her phone out. She brings up the video of her blasting her bully into the DVD display. "The news used it as a reason why I am a danger to people. But I keep it around because it makes me laugh. Not two minutes earlier, that girl was trying to rob me." She shakes her head but is still smiling. "And five minutes earlier she knocked me to the ground. We are both out of high school and she STILL acted like the homecoming queen because she dated the quarterback." She shakes her head and rolls her eyes. "I honestly hope she got the point and doesn't mess with me or anyone else again."

"I am happy that this place doesn't have as many bullies. I ran into a couple that were messing with Julio but That passed and I made a friend out of it so... That is good right?"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo leans over to get a proper view of the screen, snorting out softly as she rolls her eyes, "Really, you? A threat? Nonsense! You showed remarkable restraint, Ms. Sloan." She sighs out and shakes her head slowly, "And that is all too common. Most bullies are simply bullies because they lash out because you make them feel insecure. Typically because they have good reason to feel insecure."

She nods her head with a warm smile, "Indeed. We frown quite severely on bullying, though certain... interpersonal friction is bound to come up. But we try to nip them in the bud as it were. And ensure any friction can be overcome by seeing how we are all alike."

She pauses for a moment, "And I suppose if things become very dire, there is always the option of sending students who are bickering off into the woods to work together and avoid Logan." Her lips quirk, "Though he seems to have distanced himself from the school, so... let us hope it is not necessary! He /is/ as grumpy as people claim."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"I honestly was doing all I could to hold back. I didn't want to blast her. I lost control and she went for a little ride." Patty shrugs and smiles. "I don't know why She was a bully. I just know that she targeted me for being a late bloomer and made it a point to make my life miserable for my entire high school time." Patty sighs. "I am just happy to be away from my home town. I know I need to go back soon to get my car and to pick up a few things from my home but after that, I don't know if I wanna go back too much."

She nods and smiles. "Who's Logan?" She asks having not heard of or met the man. "This is the first I've heard of him." She smiles. "If he is as unpleasant as you say though, maybe thats a good thing that I've not met him."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo laughs softly, "Well, I will look the other way if you wish to show up in style and convince someone to... borrow the Blackbird. Though I suppose that might be overkill, I think it could probably fit your car inside, and then you could just fly it back here. And then you miss the fun of a roadtrip!"

She grins crookedly, "Oh, you'll meet him sooner or later. I... honestly forget if he's still teaching here. But he is short, surly, but he has a heart of gold. Though he'll deny it and just grumble all the louder. It is a fun game to play at times, seeing just how much you can make him grumble."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty Sloan laughs, "The blackbird is probably not like driving a car and I can barely fly on my wings. So I think the blackbird is safe from me. At least for now." She says with a mischievous wink. "Honestly I don't live that far away. Its about a four hour drive I think from here to there. Then another four hours to come back." She shrugs. "Something like that. anyway. I'm gonna get some clothes and a couple decorations for my dorm room."

Then the topic goes to Logan. She smiles a little bit and listens carefully. "He sounds like quite the guy." She states as she tries to visualize what a short, surly, guy with a heart of gold would look like. "I'm still meeting a lot of people here. I met the Professor the day after I got here and he let me stay here and take classes so I am thrilled about that."

"Jubilation told me not to spend all my time studying and practicing with my powers. I can't help it. I've wanted to go to College since I got out of high school and I wasn't allowed to even mess with my powers when I was at home. Plus I wasn't allowed to go swimming or do phys. ed because of the risk of my wings being exposed. So I'm excited to be here!"

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo grins broadly, "Well of course it's not! But I'm fairly certain we've... hm, actually I'm not sure how many people we have who /can/ fly it and would be willing to steal it to pick your car up... I mean, they could just ask permission but..." Her eyebrows pop, "There is a certain freedom in not asking authority for permission, is there not?"

She snickers softly and sighs out, "well, I think she may be right. It is best not to spend all your time practicing. You have to enjoy your life as well. So I think perhaps now that you have indeed practiced your powers... you could do whatever you want with the rest of your day, no?" Eyebrows perk, "If you haven't got any coursework that needs doublechecking, there is always raiding the kitchen. It's done frequently enough no one will be able to pin who stole the last of any particular flavor of ice cream is all I'm saying."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"I suppose you're right. I mean it does have autopilot if I recall correctly." She gives a little chortle before responding, "You are right. I mean I am technically an adult and as long as I am not breaking any major rules I can do what I want for the most part." She smirks. "I could go dancing again too. The last time I did that didn't turn out so well. But going dancing is a lot of fun!" She pauses, "Or maybe rollerskating? That would be a lot of fun!"

Patty smirks and nods, "I may have to do that. Go and raid the kitchen I mean. There is a certain type of ice cream I have a craving for that I definitely could go for right now." She laughs a little bit. "My course work is done for now. I think I may have to get myself some ice cream. I mean from the diner of course." She comments with a grin.

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo's eyebrows perk and she gasps sharply, "Wait, dancing? Okay.... I'm uhh... chaperoning?" She screws her face up for a moment. "No no. You /are/ an adult, I do not have to pretend it is for propriety. I will definitely go dancing. We can probably rope Kitty in... figuratively. And no doubt several others. And... hm, there /is/ a roller rink. They even do roller derby sometimes. But those girls get intense."

Ororo tilts her head slightly, "Though if you want to knock some people around, I know one of our students has taken part in the roller derby league. I imagine she'd know if her team needs any members to bulk out their roster... I don't think powers are... encouraged... but..." She clicks her tongue, "But I think I just thought of my next Danger Room session."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty smiles and nods. "Yeah! That would be fun! We should get some people together and go to a club." She excitedly flutters her wings and lifts off the ground a few feet. "Maybe go Roller Skating and dancing. Make it a night! Skate, Pizza, Dancing!" She beams happily as she lands easily.

"I dunno if I am ready to take on the roller derby. Plus my wings would be kinda hard to hide in a singlet. Though it could be a lot of fun! I mean I can skate I just never have been physical during... well I've never been a physical person if you know what I mean. I never have been in a fight. Sam's Significant Other offered to teach me some self defense stuff though she said that this place is the absolute best for learning that sort of thing."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo nods, "That's definitely a fine plan. Pizza and dancing, possibly on roller skates." She perks her eyebrows and grins impishly, "Well now! I mean, as long as you don't use them to fly, you could simply claim they're part of your costume. They tend to dress in daring and creative ways. And I believe there are some positions that are _not_ about physical contact... but I think 'dancing and roller skating pizza night' is likely a far better choice, and so it is what we shall do!"

She bobs her head and smiles, "Yes, we do offer quite the extensive curriculum on self defense. If you can run into Mr. Summers, I'm sure he can give you quite the rundown on it all."

Patty Sloan has posed:
Patty gives a nod to the plan. She is liking this idea and she definitely is looking forward to going skating and hanging out with some of her new friends. "That is true. I can't fly all that well at the moment anyway. The problem is if someone pulls on them. That will hurt like the dickens!" She nods, "I don't know all that much about Roller Derby. Just that people race around a rink and they wind up beating the tar out of each other."

"Mr. Summers? Which one?" She asks. "I met Alex once. And I have heard Scott's name a few times. There are a lot of Summerses around here." She actually says it like that with an es at the end. "I definitely want to learn to defend myself and others. I was also offered another chance to help people. I'm not ready for it yet though. I was offered a chance to join SHIELD."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo laughs softly, "I'm not sure if Alex counts as a Mr. as far as teaching goes. Scott. The serious one. He's really quite brilliant at tactics and training." She nods solemnly and stage whispers, "Honestly? That's everything I know about Roller Derby too. Well, that and if you just keep cheering louder, no one seems to catch on you have no clue what's going on."

Her eyebrows perk high and she whistles out softly, "That's certainly... yes, something that is probably best entered into with careful consideration. Though I imagine getting a college education with us, and the unique opportunities SHIELD offers together will give you a great many opportunities to help others."

Patty Sloan has posed:
"Okay! I will talk with Scott when I see him. I look forward to learning. Even if I get beat up, Its all learning." She smiles. "Why wouldn't Alex count. I thought he taught geology or something for the High School students." She laughs a little about the Roller Derby. "I will do some research on it. Maybe I can find a job around campus. I kinda need to make some money. I was working at a Non-Profit thrift store that helped the less fortunate when I was living back in my home town. Its also where I got my fear of guns from. I was held at gunpoint. Its also when I got my powers. I wound up pinning the gunman to the floor with a wicked downburst." She laughs and shrugs. "A few days later my wings started growing in."

"If I am going to consider SHIELD, I Definitely wanna get over my fear of guns. I am thinking I will probably have to learn to use one. Even though there are other departments I am not super smart so I think I would wanna try to become a field agent."

Ororo Munroe has posed:
Ororo smiles warmly, downright reassuringly, "Oh, you might be a little bumped and scraped, but we have a variety of methods of training that won't risk any sort of major physical harm. And in time can forge that fear of firearms into a healthy respect but a knowledge in how you can mitigate their threat when necessary." She perks her eyebrows and hums softly, "I imagine we can find some sort of work placement for you that can provide a wage... if not some sort of stipend without the work placement. You /are/ a student, and I feel like expecting you to make due without spending money would be unreasonable."

she makes a show of patting at her costume momentarily, "Sadly I did not dress to bring my wallet with me, or I'd lend you twenty." And then there's a chime from Ororo's wrist and she pulls back the sleeve of her costume to reveal a smartwatch, "Except I am /also/ running late for a test! ...Well, I'm sure the students won't have figured out how to cheat /so/ quickly..." She smiles once more and bobs her head, "It's been lovely meeting you, Patty! I am sure we will be meeting again soon enough! Even if it's just for pizza-dancing-roller-skate night!"
