Ahh college life. It's pretty much the same as life was before except now Viv spends more time commuting back to Happy Harbour. Except there are more expenses and fewer things she can do remotely. She might be okay to dial in to a lecture but the various study groups and social events? Those require direct in person attention.
At least until technology advances to the point everyone can just remotely dial in to VR hang out sessions. Alas sadly brain implant technology needed for this is still a way off wide adoption...
But until the day she can virtually conduct all her social obligations Viv will have to settle for giving her best friends open invites to stop round. And simply schedule in preparations for unexpected guests. Like she's doing now as she moves around the kitchen area making cookie dough to freeze for later. A task only possible because her housemate is off on adventures (and thus won't be stealing all the cookie dough before it can become cookies...)
- Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara is, without a doubt, one of the most free individuals on the planet. She has little to no obligations that require more than a sparing, parcel, of her attention due to the sheer volume of heroes that patrol the streets keeping them safe.. and anything large enough to draw her full attention also draws the attention of such power houses as Superman, Batman, and The Avengers.
Her obligations are nil.
So she flies around living her very best life.
Until very recently that was spending an uncomfortable amount of time with Damian in those early stages of relationshippin', but now that they've grown comfortable enough in their place in each others life, she can get back to doing other things! Which includes coming to visit friends she's, apparently, not seen in half a year. Has it really been that long?
Kara's a terrible judge of the passage of time.
It all passes in a blink to her.
Now hovering outside Vivian's window with her hands on her hips just above the blue skirt dangling around her bare thighs with the flick and snap of the dark red cape off her tall equally dark red boots. A big silly grin on her face with blonde hair tucked behind her slightly pointed ears.
- Vivian Vision has posed:
Technically Viv has seen Kara more recently than six months ago. If you count viewing training sessions in the Titans Danger Room remotely as seeing someone. Which Viv does due to her ability to tap into computer systems with her mind, but many others would not.
Still it's always nice to actually hang out socially face to face. Like a proper organic would! Plus it means someone can taste test the cookies.
SPARKY might not be ready for field operations but he is currently at a stage of development where he can run up to a window and bark excitedly. At a volume calibrated not to disturb the neighbours naturally. He can even operate the latch to let Kara in. But that's a feat less attributable to his physical dexterity and more to Viv having rigged everything in the apartment which can be remote controlled to be remote controlled. And given SPARKY is also a synthezoid that means he can ping the window with the open command. Who's a good boy? SPARKY's a good boy that's who.
Viv glances over her shoulder to shout "Hey Kara. Impeccable timing as always! I was just about to freeze this batch of dough but there's some test cookies which should be done any minute now. They're dark chocolate with freeze fried raspberry pieces."
SPARKY runs around in an excited little circle then barks some more.
- Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara wiggles her finger at the synthezoid pupper when he pops over to give the latch controls a ping to open and hovers through the open window to land properly inside the dormroom. A twirling peer around that flares both skirt and cape, then she's making her way towards Vivian in the kitchen, with a hand down to run between SPARKY's 'ears', "Hey boy! Hey!" Kneeling down once she's made it in the kitchen, a big grin on her face, she gives the pet project a big goofy hug as if he cared about such things!
"ooo there is cookies! I definitely enjoy cookies!" Almost as much as wieners! It goes without saying, but anyone who knows her well enough to know, definitely knows. IYKYK, or whatever the kids say. Kara pops up and heads over to give Vivian a hug of her own! Arms out wide, smothering around the synth-teen from behind with her chin resting on her shoulder as she peers down at whatever she's doing.
"What kind of cookies are you creating?"
- Vivian Vision has posed:
The Synthezoid student is wearing her typical cargo pants and sweater combination. Although today it's paired with a comedy apron with a print of Bender from Futurama on it. Presumably a joke gift someone bought her which has been put to practical uses. There's a joke printed about kissing a shiny metal body part which is a little too crude for Viv's sense of humour. SPARKY helpfully closes the window after Kara, even if he'd like nothing more than to try chase pigeons as they fly past, and after a little more excitable barking following the scritches he settles in his pet bed.
Just like Viv is built to do anything a Human can do but better her synthezoid canine SPARKY will, when completed, be able to do anything an organic dog can do. Like enjoy getting hugged.
"I always make sure I have some sort of treat ready to go," she says matter of factly. "It's a chocolate cookie. But I've added little chunks of a rich fairtrade dark chocolate and some raspberry that has been freeze dried for a sweet and sharp contrast." Most of the trays go into the freezer for later, but one goes into the oven which she's turned on with a thought. "They'll take a little bit to bake. Want some tea or maybe a coffee while we wait?"
She returns the hug carefully, making sure not to get any flour on Kara, even though she's so precise there's barely any mess to mind.
"How've things been with you? Things still going well with Robin? It's still Robin right? He hasn't changed codename back to Rook again?"
- Kara Danvers has posed:
There are precious few places on Earth where Kara can be genuinely impressed by the technology and just about all of them involve Vivian at some level. Once the hug is complete, she releases the synthezoid teen to her task of putting cookies in the oven, "Yum..." Because those sound amazing. Heck even the dough would be amazing... "Oh, yes, things are going very well with us. I think. I am a terrible judge of the progression of relationships, but they seem to be good!"
Hands smooth out her skirt, uncaring of any flour that could have been smeared on it had Vivian been less cautious or less precise with her baking. More hair is tucked behind her ears, arms laid across her thin waist with one hand gripping the other wrist. "And you are well? I see you have become a college student. That must be very existing? Even if you are more than likely capable of teaching any class that you attend."
Things had progressed with Kara putting away her secret identity more permanently, but it turns out there's a lot that goes into something like that. As much work as creating it, actually. A big grin on her face, blue eyes twinkling.
- Vivian Vision has posed:
Probably there is still cookie dough in the bowl or on the spoons which Kara can sneak. Viv might have worked at becoming a wonder in the kitchen but no matter how hard she tries it's impossible to stop at least a little of the dough sticking to the utensils. Not without spending several million dollars in materials to make her kitchen utensils out of synthezoid tech and phasing them clean.
Which, while tempting, is also horribly inefficient compared with just letting her housemate eat the cookie dough.
She grins at the assessment of how things are going. "It can be tough it's true. I am always worried Harper will get bored with me and run off with an organic partner. But so far... We seem to be doing pretty well. Although we haven't been on a proper date in a while."
There's a little shrug. "So far college is okay," she agrees. "I am doing it as much to progress the cause of AI rights as I am for personal advancement. The lessons are easy enough. But it's fun meeting new people and doing college student things. As a community college the lessons are not... well they're pretty general in nature. Nothing close to the work we do at GIRL in terms of difficulty."
- Kara Danvers has posed:
Sneak a spoon Kara does.
Which is to say she grabs it and casually sets it upside down on the top of her tongue, while listening to what Vivian is explaining, both of relationships and AI rights. A brisk nod, "I am sure there are as much detractors as there are to Aliens rights. Humans, for all their wonders, are surprisingly secular people... Look at what they do to their own. How long it took for them to accept individuals born here on the planet as equals." The spoon goes back into her mouth.
While Kara goes up on the counter.
With her ankles crossed because a lady reveals nothing!
Thank you 'A league of their own'
"I have no seen Harper in a very long time, either. Hrm...." Spoon, now clean of dough, taps sideways against her nose, "Perhaps we should remedy our relation plights by doing one of those dating doubles that are all the rage amongst the reality television programs? That is what young adults do, as I understand it."
- Vivian Vision has posed:
"It does not help that aliens and AI have both been the villains in movies and TV shows since practically the moment modern science fiction began," Viv agrees with a sigh. "I mean it's not like I'm going to take over the worlds nuclear stockpile, which I hasten to add that Humans built without any AI or alien help, and fire them because I'd be ruining my home... And you don't fly around in a little saucer abducting people and mutilating cattle."
Well she assumes not. If a Kryptonian got really bored there probably wouldn't be anything anyone could do to stop them!
"Although a flying saucer would make an /excellent/ Halloween costume."
Her head tilts to one side. "I'm sure she'd love to hang out with you more too," she enthuses. "I expect she probably knows Robin. She's a Gotham vigilante after all. To be honest I'm pretty sure it's impossible not to know Batman and Robin if you operate in Gotham. From what people say they just kind of turn up to warn costumed heroes from operating in the area which seems... a touch impractical given the size of the city. But I suppose it's better to prevent trouble than run around trying to stop super crimes."
