A Nerd and his Bot Go into a Bar...
Date of Scene: 27 March 2024
Location: Josie's Bar
Synopsis: Blue talks to Blue
Cast of Characters: Ted Kord, Blue GhostEyes

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord decided this was not the neighborhood to drive around in his Bugattia. Someone might try to steal and get hurt by the countermeasures. So he took a company car. The alternative was taking another bot to stand guard. In this neighborhood that could mean having your bot stolen. So he took a KordCo. van and with Bingo in tow returned to Josie's bar -where he drank entirely too much and probably tipped too much.

Ted is about to enter the bar when he sees incoming! He yanks the door open and gets out of the way. Hardly an action hero move but...

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
A man goes flying out of the open door and lands in a heap on the side walk. If Ted hadn't opened the door just in time, it's clear the poor bastard would have slammed into and probably through it. A Native American woman with a blue streak in her hair and strange two-toned eyes steps out and kicks the prone man in the side with force enough to bruise but not break his ribs. The guy's nose looks broken and both eyes are gonna be black, bruised and swollen soon. "You ever come back here and it Will. Be. The. Last thing!. You ever do!" Blue snarls before kicking the man again.

Only then does she seem to notice Ted and Bingo and the rage dissipates fast enough to give someone whiplash as her expression instantly morphs to a genuine smile. "Hey Ted, Bingo. C'mon in." She moves to hold the door now and gestures for the two to enter the bar, gives the guy on the walk another quick glare while ignoring his moans of pain and then shuts the door. "So, what'll you have?" Blue asks as she moves to the bar and vaults over the side.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord enters, pulling Bingo along by a lower arm. That was something and he'd seen Huntress at work. "We came to see how the remodeling was going, and get a drink, and make some drinks if you want. Are all them badges here again? I mean I am technically a geek and they're jocks, my natural enemies." He takes a seat at the bar, Bingo hovering beside him.

"Oh... your eyes are special. I thought I was just drinking too much. Whiskey sour please... AC current for Bingo. You have a 220 line?"

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
Blue glances around the bar. "If there are they're being quiet about it. It's a bit early for that crowd I think." She smiles at Ted. "The remodeling is going okay." She frowns. "Anyone gives you hard time, you just tell me, okay?"

After quickly preparing the whiskey sour the woman glances around. "Uhm.." She temporizes while searching her mind for any hint of what an AC current and 220 line is. Nope, not coming up with anything. "I have no idea." Blue admits with a grin. "But if you see one you are surely welcome to use it." She fills and refills a few orders before pouring some Kraken into a glass and settling across from Ted on the barkeep's side of the bar. "So, how have you been doing?"

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord ponders this question. Ted always liked hanging with regular folks. He was not regular. His intelligence set him apart, sometimes more than any Mutant. It sometimes resulted in being stuffed into a locker or chased. The fact of his intelligence though was indisputable. So how to answer? He could talk about himself and Joan but Blue was not quite that good a friend yet. He could talk about the breakthrough in the materials labe with his ResistWeave. He could talk about how he made another 20 million this day. None of these seemed particularly good choices. His genius intellect comes to his rescue.

"Work, work, work. I needed a break. I figured the drinks were good here and the company, and Bingo had fun here. Whooo this is some drink. What'd you call it?"

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
Blue watches the man's struggle to find a topic with a gentle understanding. She might not have his intellect but she does have wisdom, when she wants to. She pats his shoulder and smiles. "You've got a whiskey sour, I have some strong rum."

Her eyes go to Bingo and pats the bot. "How are you, Bingo?" Tucking a few strands of the blue streaked hair back she waits for the bot's response with true interest. She finds the being fascinating. "And it's always good to have a break." Another smile for Ted. She isn't fishing for tips or anything either. She's just been in a really good mood lately. Not that most people can tell a difference when she's bartending since she can fake a mood with the best of them. Right now however, the woman is really happy.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord peers at Blue. He's not exactly the Batman, but he has a fine eye for details. This can save your life when you're an engineer. He watches Bingo give Blue the thumbs up. "He's doing fine. He mostly helps me in the materials research lab. I don't drink this stuff enough to need a bartender. He's a good bot. I had another one wake up. He was built to pilot the Bug, so he needed a voice to respond to traffic controllers. Except he's shy. So far he says, 'hello' and 'Bodhi' which is his name. He's a little shy. But they're all turning out different, individuals. Which is cool."

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
Blue smiles at Bingo. She looks at Ted and considers what he said while wiping down the bar. "Really? I think that's amazing." Also more than a little worrisome and perhaps confusing as well but she's nothing if not adaptable. "It must be interesting to watch them all develop."

She grins. "I do drink enough to need a bartender but luckily, I am one." She takes a long sip of her drink and doesn't make a face or show any reaction to it affecting her like a normal person would. "I've been thinking about kids lately. Which is weird for me. I guess these guys really are kinda like your kids, huh?" She remembers their previous conversation despite how busy the bar was that night.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord has collected enough data. "How are you doing? You changed your hair. You're wearing a little makeup, quite tastefully in my opinion. Also some jewelry. You... found someone?" Time to test the hypotheses.

He looks over at Bingo, who is shining a UV light on the bar rag. "Yes they are like kids. I built ten prototypes. The brains and programming evolved as I was building them. So the later models are more advanced in some ways... don't look at me that way, Bingo. You're all smart. But anyway the awakening is starting at #1 Bobo, and #10 Bailey and making progress towards the middle. Despite being the youngest, Bailey is apparently a teenager now. She needs minding."

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
Blue smiles in satisfaction. "I did find someone, yes. I'm doing pretty well." Blue glances at Bingo and frowns down at the rag. It isn't too bad since she uses it with a disenfectant spray but it is time to change it out and ditches the thing and grabs a new one. "Thanks."

Laughing softly she admits, "Well, sounds like a teenager to me. My nephew was about as far from a normal one as you can get and he still needed a lot of looking after." So did she though and they got through those years together. "Sounds like you have your hands full with them."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord says "I do. Listen, it occurs to me I might need a detective, or a bartender at times. Can I exchange numbers with you?" He pulls out his phone and activates it. Of course it is blue. Well, Blue is not the only one with a color bias.

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
She laughs when she sees the color of Ted's phone and pulls out a card from her jeans. It says C.E. Investigations and has her name, phone number and the address of a website detailing her services as Private Investigator. "Here ya go." She smiles. "I'd be happy to help whenever you need it." A thing she doesn't often say. She does what she does in part to help people but also because it's a way to channel her predatory instincts into something good. If she likes a person though then Blue is always happy to help out. The people she genuinely likes are few and far between usually.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord takes the card,a little unsure. It's been a while since he's seen one of these things. "Oooookay. I'll give you a call with my information later. ... don't you have a cell phone?" He tries to keep the rising tone out of his voice but fails. 'I can get you one. I get them for people who work for me, or friends. I just set up my corporate archivist, Ms. Jennings up with a bunch of technology."

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
"Uhm." Blue looks chagrined. "I doooo.. it's just.. I'm not great with tech stuff. Like at all. So it's a custom phone my nephew made me that only does a few things and mostly works through voice commands. I know the cards are old fashioned but they work for me and if I lose them it's no big deal. He gets pissed off when he has to make yet another phone because I lost, broke or forgot it somewhere." She smiles. "Thanks, I have a good a phone though really." She really sucks with tech, like so much. Ted might be appalled by how much if he saw her phone. It has five buttons on the touch screen and they all respond to various voice commands in addition to working silently if she presses the right amount of time. Her nephew knows her well.

Blue tilts her head. "Clara?" She asks with clear interest. That girl is a very important person to Blue now. She's her daughter. Albeit newly adopted daughter. It doesn't change Blue's love for the young woman in the slightest.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord snaps his fingers, "Right! Clara, She's a fine archivist, She's purchased a roomful of books that are fine investments. She's best friends with Bot number 9 -Bongo. Turns out they both help with each others' anxiety issues. All right, about the phone, use what works for you. If your nephew wants a phone, let me know. He sounds like a gearhead."

Blue GhostEyes has posed:
Awww. Blue smiles. Good, she's glad Clara is doing well. "I'm glad she's doing good there. She's a great kid. Really, and that's good to know about the anxiety." Blue doesn't think medication would be a good thing for Clara but she also wants her to feel safe and relaxed at work.

She laughs. "He is at that. He does all my tech stuff and the website and whatever research I need." He also does a helluva lot more than that but she can't admit to the rest. Not yet, maybe not ever. She likes Ted a lot but she'll protect Morgan and herself first, always. Okay, Morgan at least. She doesn't often do a good job at protecting herself since in the end it usually doesn't matter. A thing that is going to need to change somewhat soon but for now.. "Anyway, I'm glad you guys stopped in. It was good to see you." Blue nods and then moves off and starts refilling drinks and taking new orders. The crowd is getting bigger and it's going to be a busy night.
