Date of Scene: 03 April 2024
Location: Liberty Island
Synopsis: Shazam makes a new friend -Arisia!
Cast of Characters: Billy Batson, Arisia Rrab

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam ended up at the Statue of Liberty. Part of it was because he used to meet friends here and came to regard the statue as a friend in its own right. Part of it was a desire to be alone with his thoughts. Even the mentors in his head had backed off, giving him space.

He sits on the head of the statues between the rays of the crown and looks over the water.

Arisia Rrab has posed:
After having done some research, Arisia is a little more aware of the situation on Earth (and at the Starport), and thus being a little more careful about her activities. Using the power of the ring, she bends the ight around herself, hiding herself from sight so she can take a more leisurely tour of the city she landed in. She'd worked her way inland from the ocean, flying over the coasts and the more affluent areas, then into the city proper and noting some of it's iconic landmarks along the way. One of the last stops is the Statue of Liberty.

She may have seen more fantastical sights than the copper statue, but it is still a sight to behold. The craftsmanship and artistry that went into its creation draws her in to examine it closer. The sight of a familar figure, hwoever, draws her in closer still. She hovers perhaps twnty feet in front of him, invisible for a few moments as she studies the man, then revealing herself after a moment.

Arisia tries a smile and lifts a hand in greeting, "Hello again."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam doesn't jump. It's almost as though he is used to people appearing out of nowhere (he is). He does get up to bow to her, suddenly conscious his costume looks like he slept in it. "Hi uh excuse me a second." He turns away and is suddenly lit by lightning. It wreathes his hands and he used them to scrub the stubble off his face. Then he kind of gasps at the pain in his cheeks and jaw. "Ow... crap! Ow... darn it."

He turns back, uniform fresh, face clean-shaved and a little red.

"Sorry about that. I was having a week. Really had to clean up. Hello, Green Lantern."

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Arisia cants her head to one side and has to hide the amused grin when he spins away to clean himself up, though she has her expression under control by the time he turns back around. Offering an understanding smile, she shakes her head, "You didn't have to. I understand loss when I see it." Moving in closer, she offers a hand out to him, "Arisia. And hello. It's good to meet you, officially."

Whether he shakes her heand or not, she withdraws it after a few moments and tucks them both behind herself, "You seemed like you could use a friend. So could I." Motioning towards him, Arisia offers, "Not that you have to talk about anything if you don't wish to. But sometimes just having someone nearby can.. help."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam gives Arisia's hand a couple firm shakes and releases it. "Oh well, I'm Shazam, just Shazam. I don't really want to talk about it. I feel like I'm just giving this issue more power over me and I am getting better. Having a friend sounds good though and if no one else did, let me welcome you to Earth!" He makes a grandiose gesture arms sweeping all around.

"So what brings you here? We're kind of a backwater... aside from the superpowered people."

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Arisia just watches him for a long moment, something understanding in her expression even as she finally murmurs, "We don't have to talk about it... but I will say just one thing. From personal experience.. something gains power over you when you dwell on it alone, turning it over in your head again and again. Talking to people, when you can stomach it, helps to drain it, like an infection. It won't be pretty, it won't be clean, and it will hurt, a lot. But that's how the wound heals." She smiles faintly and lifts a shrug, "And that's all I will say on the matter. The rest is up to you."

Chuckling, she glances around before looking back to him, "Thank you. I am learning, but I think I will do alright here." Her brows lift at the question, "My Sector neighbors this one. I live in the Milky Way, on a planet called Graxos IV. My family has a long, storied history of being the Green Lanterns for that sector. Both my parents, my uncle, my grandfather before all of them, going back to an ancestor... but that also means they've all had to die for it to come to me. I am the youngest Green Lantern ever chosen. As much as I have prepared for this day... I am still inexperienced. So I was sent here to train."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam listens and nods. Then he says, "I talked it out. I'm just not opening it up again... can we use a metaphor other than wounds. Yick."

The family history has him brightening. "That's amazing. Shazams were defenders of humanity and champions of magic for thousands of years. They were wiped out by a traitor until I was chosen to renew the title. So I'm kind of like your ancestor? I mean I'm not ancient by any means. I just started and recruited the other Shazams. We're all Shazams. My brothers and sisters are choosing different names otherwise it gets confusing."

"I mean among ourselves we just use our real names so I'm Billy... oh, don't use that in public."

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Nodding, Arisia smiles lightly, "Good. And as gross as it sounds, it really is the best analogy. But we don't have to mention it again."

"It is, and it isn't. As I'm sure you understand, there's a huge weight of expectation to be a part of a legacy like this. I am proud of my family, of being chosen to carry on the legacy. But I also feel the weight of it. I am the last of the Rrab's that can carry the mantle, and eventually it will be up to me to ensure the Rrab family grows. I cannot simply.. choose them," Smiling, Arisia seems to bear up under that weight well enough for being as young as she looks. "And I do understand the confusion of the naming convention. All of us are Green Lantern, but clearly we can't just call each other that."

Brows lifting, she gives a nod, "Ion told me of your use of separate identities to protect your loved ones. Still, it is nice to meet you, Billy."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam says, "Oh he did? I like to be the one who gives that stuff out. Then again I did just let my name slip. I suppose it's okay. You are a Green Lantern." He does look a little annoyed but it passes. Maybe he was too free with his identity lately?

"So what parts of earth have you seen so far? There are some really nice spots. I like Iceland myself."

Arisia Rrab has posed:
"OH! Not you specifically. You as in.. humans. Heroes of Earth. He didn't tell me anything about you, only that most Earth heroes have separate identities to protect their loved ones when they aren't being heroes." Arisia's cheeks turn more of a rose gold for a few moments, "My apologies, I think I was unclear there."

Shaking her head, she motions towards the city, "New York City and Metropolis are really the only places I've been so far. I just arrived yesterday, and I had to secure living quarters until I can establish a career for meyself."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam gets up and says, "Oh, a career. What is it you do? I bet you have all kinds of alien tech know-how and you can become a billionaire in a couple weeks." He claps his hands.

"I'm all for new immigrants. but anyway, what is your training? I'm talking too much." Maybe he can warn her about LexCorp and teer her to one of the good firms?

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Laughing, Arisia shakes her head and grins at him, "Oh no, nothing like that. Actually, I'm an artist and fashion designer. But after looking into Earth's fashion industry, I've found that it seems to be easier for people to get into the designer aspect if they start as a model. So that's what I'm doing! Modelling." It won't make her a billionaire by any means, but it can translate into both money AND perks.

Chuckling, she nods, "Generally, training involves testing of one's will, strengthening it, enhancing the bearer's creativity, and learning all the various functions of the ring, and how to best utilize them. I have a little headstart by virtue of growing up surrounded by Green Lanterns... but it's very different from seeing and knowing, to doing."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam sits back down and pats a spot for her. Does her culture do that to offer a seat? He does spread his cape for her. It doesn't get dirty. He usually does that for female friends.

"Well I guess not everyone from your planet can be a gear head. That's fantastic about being a designer. We have Starfire, she's a model. She's from Vega I think. Wait... I was a model... briefly. It didn't work out for some legal reasons I rather not go into but... I can call the agency I used or at least give you their number. We parted on good terms. Heck I can take you there!"

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Grinning briefly, Arisia shakes her head at the offer, but moves into a seated position in mid-air, still just hovering a foot or two in front of him. "I appreciate the offer, but if either of us has to leave suddenly, it could get.. embarrassing."

"So far as I know, we don't have particularly advanced technology, comparitively speaking. Perhaps slightly ahead of Earth, but not by much. Humans are quite ingenious when it comes to advancing technology, really," she flashes a quick grin, then gives a nod. "You don't have to tell me anything you aren't comfortable with. But that would be wonderful, thank you! I could certainly stand to meet more people in the modelling and fashion worlds."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam starts chuckling. "Oh like if I zip off... like pulling a tablecloth out from a set table." He pulls a pad out of his backpack and begins writing. Ah Wisdom of Solomon, almost total recall. He quickly jots down the particulars for Lia Briggs' agency. That WOULD have been a sweet deal. Except he was only fifteen at the time. And had two supermodels drooling over Shazam. And they looked old to him. Stupid fifteen year old Billy.

He tears the sheet off and hands it to Arisia. "You can use my name with Lia. Uhm does your ring make phone calls? Do you need a phone? I have one."

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Grinning, Arisia nods, "Exactly. Or if I had to leave suddenly and the cape got caught on any part of *my* outfit... either way, it would end up embarrassing for us both." Because nobody wants to see two heroes tangled in each others' costumes as they try to fly towards trouble! Well, surely there are people that WOULD, but she wouldn't want to be part of it!

Taking the slip of paper, she looks it over, then back to Billy with a smile, "Thank you. Should I use Billy, or Shazam? As for the ring.. it can scan for and tap into most of the electromagnetic spectrum, but that is one area that I think Graxosians have an advantage." she moves in a little closer and turns her head to show a small device that is tucked into her ear with an accompanying flat piece of what almost looks like mesh at the back of the ear. "I've already attuned it to Earth's cellular signals, and attached it to a number that was not in use." Rattling off the number for him, she smiles, "So I can be reached. I am also working on setting myself up with an email account, so I can be reached that way as well. And that the ring *can* function as."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam erms a little when she moves in closer. "Billy is fine in private, like here. If other people can overhear you, use Shazam. Okay. If you want, I can meet you back here to see how you're doing and offer advice. But uhh, I should get back to patrolling now." He backs off a little. Do Graxosians have a different idea of personal space? "Or I can take your number and email, or both!"

Arisia Rrab has posed:
Backing off once she's shown him the ear piece she wears, Arisia smiles, "Shazam, then. And that would be nice, thank you." Folding up the piece of paper, she tucks it into one glove and gives a nod, 'Yes, I should return to Metropolis. I am being shown an Earth movie. I am quite excited!" She lifts a small wave to him, "Feel free to call the number! I'll let you know when I have an email address set up!" Since she already rattled off the number to him, she takes that as her cue to depart, fading from view so she can zip back to Metropolis!
