Cast of Characters: Victor Von Doom, Zora Vukovic

Victor Von Doom has posed:
Together Doctor Doom and Victorious departed the United Nations. While the latter put on quite the impressive display, Doom himself had taken care not to showcase the full range of his capabilities. In truth he had kept matters quite tame for those who begged his intervention during the events which recently unfolded among the General Assembly. It is for this reason that when the pair made their departure it was by more conventional means. While the aircraft is reminiscent of a traditional helicopter; this one has been specially designed and created by the mind of Doom himself and the factories of Latveria. While it bears the standard propeller setup for lift and momentum; this one bears a pair of large engines on either side of the hull. In the event of an emergency they could be utilized as engines to provide propulsion, lift, and controlled descent. Those side engines function similar to and possessed capabilities similar to the United States' old Harrier jets.

As the helicopter lifts away from the United Nations and takes to the sky, Doctor Doom's helmet shifts away from watching the ground recede beneath them. The mask turns toward Zora and he begins to speak, his voice filtered and lowered so that it does not broadcast too loudly within the confines of the modified chopper.

"Tell me of your battle and victory, Zora," Doom states firmly and his brown eyes peer from within the confines of his stern-faced mask.

Zora Vukovic has posed:
Inclining her head towards Doom, Zora shifts slightly to more easily speak between them, "I engaged the heaviest of the armored targets as I felt that unleashing too much power onto the smaller, weaker targets would be cause for suspicion and slander after the fact. Which meant that I was joining the likes of Superman, Iron Man, Thor, and a woman calling herself Thunderbolt. I managed to take down one of the odd squid-skull carriers by blowing a hole in its 'face' and setting off multiple blasts within to clear it out from the inside." That also allowed her to not make any deaths publicly viewed.

"After, I notice Iron Man being accosted by two of these carrier tanks, so I went to his aid by supercharging his suit with Cosmic Power, and used forcefields to protect some of the ground-fighting heroes from gunfire and missiles. At which point Thor mistook my aid as an attack and flew at me in a rage. I fended him off without doing him any harm until he could see that I was not working against them. At which point, the three of us took down the final two of the carrier-tanks in a cooperative effort." She flicks a glance towards him and quirks a faint smile, "I also aided in keeping some of the smaller targets off of Superman to allow him to focus on taking down the carrier-tanks."

Settling back, Zora offers, "I tried to ensure there were would no visible deaths caused by my hand, while providing bery flashy and visible attacks against HYDRA and aiding the heroes. I believe it went well, the media caught much footage and took many pictures of us standing in camaraderie at the end, to say nothing of the footage gained during the attack itself."

Victor Von Doom has posed:
Doom sits in silence while he listens. Midway through Zora's report, the Monarch of Latveria turns his attention aside. The helicopter continues to climb, level out, and begins to make the trek from the United Nations complex to the Latverian embassy's own helipad. Doom watches the structures and landscape below. The scowl beneath his mask goes unwitnessed, but it is there. The urban decay and piling of humanity atop itself is a truly despicable thing. He watches it pass by below, but loses interest in it by the time Zora's report concludes.

The mask shifts and turns back to Zora, offering a solemn nod in answer to the report. He begins to address its individual points without delay, "You have sought to uplift the name of Doom and Latveria through your actions and I will see them rewarded. Your being seen in the midst of the West's heroes is an important step in creating the perception we wish to put forward. You have done very well."

The smile that slips across his face goes unseen, but it can practically be heard as Doom begins to speak on the subject of the media and the abundance of footage that they captured. Then Doom presents a potential revelation, "One of our own television crews were filming from a safe distance. We can't entrust our capturing of documentary footage to the West and their lackeys". An armored hand shifts, curling into a fist as his voice takes on a slight edge of annoyance, likely aimed at the prospect of seeking reliable information from the local governmental bodies, "We must rely on ourselves for accurate and valuable information. They will always seek to undermine us, at every turn."

Then Doom's hand relaxes and comes to rest atop his knee. The helicopter sways and rocks for a moment as a result of high winds outdoors. Doom seems unbothered by it. He carries on with the discussion within the confines of the aircraft, "Things inside were dire. The brief version is that it was a desperate defense and I maintained a calm demeanor throughout. When things became particularly desperate one of my fellow dignitaries plead for my aid. I delivered them Doom. A watered down version so that they would not come to fear what they recognized as superior to them. Enough to teach them respect, but not enough to instill them with terror". Doom pauses a moment as his helmet shifts and his mask glances toward the view below. It's only a brief distraction as he soon turns his attention back to Victorious, "They sought to escape with a group of dignitaries. At the hands of an alien seeking to make a point, Clea of the Dark Dimension, and Doom; they were foiled."

Zora Vukovic has posed:
Nodding to his points, Zora glances his way once more, "I understand, my lord. For future heroics, I will attempt to coordinate with an 'anonymous source' to ensure the news crews are able to be there to capture it on film. Latverian news included, of course. But I will keep it broad to ensure we are not accused of 'staging' heroics." She pulls a cellphone from within some hidden pocket and taps out a few notes to herself, tagging them to a reminder so she can give more precise directions.

Setting the phone aside, she listens to his accounting of what occurred within while she was fighting without. Her brows lift lightly at mention of Clea and the alien, then nods, "Excellent. As we anticipated, they begged for your aid when their own heroes were not sufficient. We should look into offering relief aid to some of these incoming alien refugess. Given that the Western countries are all banding together against the idea.. we should support it. Show that Latveria is unafraid to accept the 'poor and downtrodden' that the Americans wish to turn away. We can coordinate efforts with Themyscira, Atlantis, and Wakanda. Start making inroads into opening better relations between them and Latveria."

Tucking the phone away complete, Zora pauses, considering, "We should also look at getting space in the Starport for Latverian vessels. Even if it goes largely unused, or there is more foot traffic through a portal than space traffic from ships, it will our citizens to not fear alien immigrants and will help to lay the groundwork for expanding our network."

Victor Von Doom has posed:
"Do it," Doom answers succinctly regarding the plan to arrange future media coverage. He doesn't offer guidance or insights. It is Zora's task to pursue and, should she fail, take ownership. On the matter of the spaceport and offering aid to alien refugees, Doom's expression goes still - what little of it may be witnessed through the holes of his mask. He considers for only a moment before he looks away anew, his voice carrying with it a degree of casual resignation, as though the answer is a tiring thing that is entirely obvious, "Latveria will aid those who serve Doom. In time, all must, if we wish to save this world."

Doctor Doom's attention shifts away from the side window and the passing cityscape below. Again his dark eyes turn to regard Zora and he offers a nod, "Let us see it done then. We will reach out to the Themyscirans, Altanteans, and Wakandans. See how we may be brought into the fold and offer our aid". Doom goes silent for a moment, little more than a pregnant pause. "We will make certain to outfit a ship for the Latverian section that will carry a great deal of sensor and intelligence gathering equipment. This way we will be able to scan around the clock, gathering information on the activities of our counterparts."

Zora Vukovic has posed:
Nodding, Zora already has her notes set for reaching out and how to set up the 'anonymous tips' for newscasters to be on the scene of heroic goings on. She's not one to rest on her laurels. Always thinking, moving, doing. And always, ALWAYS executing the will of Doom with flawless precision. There will be burner phones, code phrases, and multiple tiers of obfuscation to ensure none of this comes back on Latveria. They will have Latveria shining in the spotlight, a bastion of good will and enterprise and safety. "I will start looking to see what buildings we have to spare that could be converted to temporary housing for any refugees we aid."

Pulling her phone back out, Zora types out additional notes attached to more reminders, ensuring that she keeps track of each outreach to each of the three countries separate that they can track progress for each individually and better address and tailor additional plans or amendments to each individual country/leader. Looking back to Doom, she gives a nod, "I will see about securing a landing space at the Spaceport for Latveria, and perhaps a portal for foot traffic as well. Then we can allow supervised expeditions, surveys, and visits to the Spaceport for worthy citizens, diplomats, and scientists of Latveria." The supervision will be couched as 'for their safety', of course, but it will give them a presence on the station should another conflict break out.

Victor Von Doom has posed:
"Should the presence of Doom be required, then do not hesitate to inform," the King of Latveria answers with stern detachment.

The ride continues for a time, in silence. Doctor Doom's gaze remains fixed onto the passing cityscape. The United Nations shrinks behind them and Doom's voice can be heard, even without his mask turning to regard Zora anew, "This evening should the weather prove favorable then we will enjoy drinks and conversation from the Observatory of Doom. Evening wear will suffice as expected attire."

He sits in silence, even after Zora's inevitable response. For he is Doom and there is no moment in time that Zora would not acknowledge the guidance of Doom. The silence does stretch and grow, filling the space which the pair occupy as the helicopter continues its journey to the Latverian embassy some miles away.

Zora Vukovic has posed:
"Of course, my liege. I will send you reports per usual of all progress made and if there will be meetings, and my recommendations for any unexpected events. Should your presence be required, I will, of course, inform you immediately." Because Zora does nothing by half. Nor does she keep him in the dark about how her plans are proceeding, even if there are hiccups or issues that arise. The Herald of Doom does not shirk from setbacks.

The silence is a comfortable one for the pair, both able to sit for long periods of time without the need to speak or 'break the silence'. She watches the skylines and water lines, keeping an eye out for any retaliatory strikes HYDRA may attempt, now that Doom has directly opposed them.

The mention of drinks in the Observatory has her looking his way and giving a small nod, the faintest hint of a smile visible briefly on her lips, "I will dress accordingly, my lord." Turning back to her duty, she continues her visual and technological scans as they fly to the Embassy. The silence once again stretching comfortably between them as each attends to their own thoughts and plans.
