Welcome Home, Isra!
Date of Scene: 14 April 2024
Location: Welcome Home Party
Synopsis: Isra's welcome home party takes a medieval turn.
Cast of Characters: Isra Kosimar, Wray Aleifrson

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Ciprian had contacted Wray about a very secret mission. Isra's parents were throwing her a welcome home party, a rather lavish one in an expensive hotel ballroom.

That meant that the man was going to have to pull out a really nice suit or a tuxedo. Ciprian had decided to wear a tux given he didn't get many occasions where he could get one out. Apparently this was a surprise to Isra, mainly given that she'd not been told about this party and she'd not mentioned it to Wray. She just had said that her parents told her to block the evening off.

There is a lavish spread of food and there is a live band playing. Some classical and some more refined tunes because there are some people here that donate a lot of money to museums and projects. Wray might know some of them! And he has a chance to talk to people while they wait on Isra. "I know this isn't your thing, but thank you for agreeing to come." Ciprian tells him.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Fancy clothing wasn't outside of Wray's reach, at all. He'd sped along a tailor, getting a nicely fitted tuxedo, custom tailored to his larger frame. Even so, he looks a bit out of place with the fancy suit, clearly worried about it tearing around him as he walks. Midgard fabric is so fragile, after all!

"Will your parents mind?" He wonders, still nervous about so many people - soirees were not really his prefered venue. It was clear to most that were aware, he's a bit out of his element.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Ciprian gives Wray a smile and reaches out to give him a brotherly clap on the shoulder, "I just told my parents I was bringing a friend...that was also Isra's friend." he admits. "Especially since she gets all dreamy eyed when she talks about you." he chuckles at that.

It was true, she did.

There is someone that speaks up over by the doors, "She's coming!" they shout and then make sure that everyone is clear of the doors and things and everyone quiets down as to not spoil the surprise.

Isra's mother opens the door a few moments later, leading a blindfolded Isra by the hand, "I don't like surprises, you know that Mom..." she whispers with a laugh to her mother. The door closes behind them and the woman that is dressed in a rather bright red gown braces for the inevitable.

There is a loud, "Welcome Home, Isra!" that is shouted by the group.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
A nod to the other man, and a return of the comforting pat. "Fair enough. I just don't want to intrude on a family thing." He assures, looking to the other man. A wry grin as he mentions her getting starry-eyed. "She has a similar affect on me, truth be told." A slight shrug, and then it was time to hide.

As everyone lifts their voices to welcome her home, Wray does as well - his gravelly tone easy to distinguish if she doesn't see him initially. It's a crowd, after all!

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Ciprian gives a laugh, "I've known you for awhile, not like I don't already think of you as family." the tall man points out. Though Wray's admission makes him quirk an eyebrow at him, "I guess I was too late in the 'don't you make a move on my sister' speech." he laughs.

"You get a pass though." he admits. Then Isra is there and there is cheering. It takes her by surprise and she blushes, her hands coming up to cover her face for a moment. "Thank you everyone!" she calls out after she lowers her hands. "Please eat and dance and have fun!" she states.

Isra's father steps forward, "We'll have another surprise in a few, for now, enjoy yourselves." he tells those gathered.

"Another surprise?" Isra asks him. He shoos her on though and Isra sees Ciprian and Wray and that makes her light up as she hurries over to them, "Well don't you both look handsome!"

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
A nod. "Well, I don't know about making a move - but perhaps a bit late." Wray teases Ciprian. "I have no ill-intentions, though. You know me better than that, Ciprian." The Asgardian grins. "Thank you for the pass. I'd rather not face the ire of her brother, or family."

He watches as her father steps forward, studying her parents for a moment.

As Isra comes over, he stands up straighter. "I had to try to look as good as your brother, here. You look stunning, Isra. Welcome home."

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Ciprian studies what is going on when his mother and father are announcing things and there is a look back to Wray, "Might be a bit late." he agrees. Her then looks to Isra and he smiles, "You're ever the flatterer, Issy, if you'll excuse me, I need to go see what our parents are up to." he states as he strides off to talk to his parents.

Isra gives a blush to Wray and to her brother, but doesn't think anything is wrong. She steps closer to Wray and then up on tiptoe to kiss his cheek, "Thank you. Would you like to dance?" she asks him.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Ciprian gets a wave as he heads off to the parents - a nod to the other man. "See you in a few." He calls after her brother. Looking to Isra, he grins. "Issy?" A mirthful look in his eyes, even brighter as she kisses his cheek. "I would very much like to dance."

A hand goes to her hip, the other offered out to hold. "Is this a normal thing for your family?" He asks, once they are swaying to the music. "Big parties?"

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra looks up to Wray as he calls her Issy, "You and Ciprian can get away with it." she tells him. "And good." she states with a grin at the talk of him agreeing to dance.

She steps in close to him, slipping her hand into his as she listens to him speak. "Generally if one of us has been gone for awhile or there's some big event or something." she admits. "I know this isn't your ideal environment." she states with a soft smile to him.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Wray grins at that. "Fair enough. I won't over use it, I promise." He assures her, moving with her to the time of the music. "It is nice to revel when family returns. There are so many dangers out there, that reuniting with family." He agrees.

"Will your family be upset at us being this close?"

Isra Kosimar has posed:
"It is nice and given I'm their only girl they do sort of make a big deal about things like this." she muses quietly. There is a look to how close they are and she looks up to him with a smile, "We're just dancing, I don't think they are going to come over with a ruler." she teases him gently.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
A nod and a grin. "I just don't want to assume, or anger your parents. If you are their only girl, it is is most assured that you are their princess and one who deserves the best." Wray admits. "Not some filthy blacksmith." A waggle of his brows at her. Even so, he's quite happy to dance with her, his steps complimenting her own.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra gives a look up to him as they dance. She was ignoring most others, but giving warm smiles when people commented something to her. "Why would you say that about yourself?" she asks him. "You're well traveled, intelligent and a very long list of other things." she points out.

"And maybe I like the blacksmith part." she grins at that.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
"I try so hard to fit in, but I feel like I am still achingly behind the times." A whisper to her. "Some of those things you mention, well most... those are due to the circumstances of my life. Not specifically things I sought out." He snickers. "Luck of genetics."

A brow arches. "And you like the blacksmith part? I should invite you over to the forge more often, then."

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra gives his hand a warm squeeze as they dance and there is a smile to him, "Maybe you need some help getting with the current times?" she offers. "I'd be happy to help." she adds. "Luck of genetics." she teases him.

Then she flushes a little, "I...do." she admits. "Oh yes, please do. Especially if you're planning on being all sweaty and shirtless." she teases.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
A smile and chuckle at the turns of the conversation. "Best not suggest such things in front of your parents." He winks to her. "But maybe tomorrow if you're free? Or after the party?" He suggests, spinning her in his arms as the song comes to a close.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra gives a grin to him, "I would be happy to wait until tomorrow so that you can rest up." she tells him with a wink to accompany it. There is a happy laugh as he spins her and then she looks all too content at where she is. "Shall we get a drink or something?" she asks him.

Meanwhile, off in the distance Wray can probably see that Ciprian is speaking with a few people and he looks a little miffed.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Wray's smile is wide. "Rest is for others." He teases her. "But tomorrow works just fine. And a drink sounds perfect." He mentions, steering her towards the location of the beverages. "What are you wanting?" He asks, even as his eyes look over to Ciprian, taking care to note the people he's upset with.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
"I'll take wine. That sounds like a good thing." Isra tells him. "And even if you are some big strong guy you should just rest sometimes. Self care is important." she tells him.

She gives a look after him and there is a smile, but she looks after where he looks and gives a soft frown when she sees Ciprian upset.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
"Think he needs a rescue? Do you know those people?" He wonders, moving over to get the pair a glass of wine each. The comment on rest and such is let go for the moment, Asgardian biology is different! He keeps his hand at the small of her back as they watch, sipping from the wine absently.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
"He's probably just talking about something work related." Isra admits to that. "I don't know them very well. My mom and dad seem to have invited a lot of business contacts as well as family." she explains.

And speak of the Devil...

The music goes low as Isra's father appears with a microphone again, "If I can have everyones attention." he states. "Our daughter Isra has been gone for the last ten or so years on business and school trips. Building her portfolio and has returned home after taking a job as Curator for the Jewish museum." he comments to all. He is a proud dad.

"And since we knew that she would be coming home for such auspicious things, we have been in talks with one of our closest friends about a marriage contract between our Isra and their son." he announces.

Well, that was definitely NOT what is expected. Isra looks...shocked and unable to say anything as her father is joined by a fairly tall and handsome blonde haired man. He's not Wray.

Ciprian gives a growl at the whole thing and stalks out of the room.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Wray gives a smile to her, guessing she knows more of Ciprian than he would. And especially if she doesn't recognize the people he was having a rough discussion with. Then her father is up on stage, welcoming his daughter home and speaking on where she'd been. Familial pride is something he can understand.

But then there was another announcement. A whole different sort of familial thing.

Wray looks over to Ciprian as he storms out, then to Irsa. "Something you weren't aware of?" He asks quietly, eyes on her. He's trying not to cause a scene - or make himself stand out in the spotlight that is likely now on Irsa.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
There is a moment that Isra just wants to bolt. There is an awkwardness settling in with the crowd as some of them realize that Ciprian has left and she looks surprised.

The gentleman that is standing up by her father looks not at all happy when there wasn't more excitement.

Isra looks to Wray, "No." she tells him. "Just...do you want to go see if you can get Ciprian while I talk this out with them?" she asks him quietly.

It is pretty clear that she is uncomfortable with the whole of the situation, but doesn't want to cause a scene.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Without much to go on, Wray nods. "I can do that. Are you going to be all right?" He asks, giving her a moment to answer before giving her a hug. Then he moves off to find her brother.

This was not an expected situation, for anyone except the parents and groom-to-be. This was going to be a mess - hopefully cooler heads would prevail. "Ciprian?" He called out, looking for the other man./

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra returns the hug and there is a soft smile to him, "Thank you." she tells him. Then she is straightening up to her full height to put on a brave face, "I'll be fine. Worst I can do is get myself disowned." she muses to that.

Then she heads over to where her parents are standing with the would-be-groom and his parents and she starts to explain that she was not aware of any of this. Well of course she wasn't!

Meanwhile, outside with Ciprian he hasn't went far, he's pacing and cursing at his phone, "Down here." he waves to Wray. "They promised me they wouldn't do this. I'm just so angry right now, I'm sorry." he apologizes.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Finding Ciprian, the big man nods. "Anger, that I can understand all too well. We both know that Isra will handle this, and will make her own choices." He says, earnestly. "Do you know the family that worked on this arrangement? Do you suspect the would-be-groom will go off unchecked?" It's a possibility, one that Wray would rather not have Irsa suffer through.

"You don't have to apologize - you didn't do this, Ciprian."

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Five minutes pass while they are talking outside. The door is opened to the ballroom and people start filing out. Most are absolutely confused, others wondering why they'd do this to someone at their welcome home party. No one seems to be overly upset.

"Yeah but she shouldn't have to. I know we both love the medieval history but I never expected my parents to actually force her into a marriage contract with some stranger." he sighs. "And she is interested in someone." he looks pointedly at Wray.

There is a look to the people that are flowing out and then back to Wray, "I don't know the man, but if he gets angry with my sister...he's going to get it." he promises.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
"I am sure he's not that foolish." He says earnestly, letting the comment about Isra being interested in someone slip by. "Parents want what is best for their children, that is normal. Sometimes, though, they tend to overlook what the children want for such things. I am not unfamiliar with arranged marriages." He admits.

Looking as the people file out, he looks to Ciprian. "Should we go inside?"

Isra Kosimar has posed:
10 minutes post announcement and the last of the people are coming out. This includes the would-be-groom and his parents. His parents don't look happy, but the father is heard saying, "Maybe the marriage contract route is too overbearing. Maybe you could ask her out for coffee?" the man offers his son. There is a shake of his head and a wave of his hand. Looks like a King waving off a servant.

Ciprian stares at Wray, "You've been married?" he looks surprised. Then he shakes himself as the last of them file out. He gives a baleful look at the lot of them and then looks back to Wray, "Maybe we should since they are going." he states as he leads the way in.

But Isra is hurrying out with tears clouding her eyes and runs right into her brother.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
There's no answer about marriage to Ciprian. That's a handful to unpack, truly. "I know about the tradition - thankfully that has never happened to me." The large man explains, watching as the other half of the agreement moves along. Once they are clear, he steps in with Ciprian.

As there's a crash of Isra into Ciprian, he helps to catch her - should she be off-balance. "Are you all right, Isra?" He asks quietly.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra wobbles for a moment, but thankfully they have a hold of her. "They are upset." she states as she reaches up to wipe the tears from her cheeks.

"I'm...not okay. I think I'd like to go home." she whispers.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
Wray gives a nod. "I can take you home, or I am sure Ciprian can." He offer, keeping a hand on her shoulder. He's there to comfort her, provide what ever he can. "Up to you, of course."

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Ciprian gives a look to his baby sister crying and there is a bit of a soft exhale of breath. "Have James take you home. I'm going to go set our parents straight." he tells her. Then he gives a look to Wray, "I trust you." he tells him.

Isra gives a look to Wray and there is a soft nod, "If it won't be too much trouble." she whispers to him.

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
His arm goes around Isra, even as he nods to Ciprian. "I'll let you know when she gets home. Or rather, I'll make sure she does." He knows about Wray's adversion to tech. A slight hug to Isra, even as she composes herself. "I can get my driver to get us to your place, if you don't feel up to driving?"

Isra Kosimar has posed:
"My mom picked me up, so I think an Uber or your driver would be best." Isra tells Wray as she gives him a squeeze back. There might be the slightest weird feeling, like Wray is being watched and if he looks, the would-be-groom is staring /daggers/ down the hallway. But he turns to head off again.

Thankfully Isra does not catch it and they can move on with the night!

Wray Aleifrson has posed:
It's the hairs on the back of his neck - that warrior's intuition. He doesn't spare a look to the other man, letting him stew. Instead, he nods to Ciprian and ushers Isra towards where they can be picked up by his driver. "I'll drop you off then, and make sure you're home safe. We can even stop for food if you need. Wray offers to the woman still in his arm.

Isra Kosimar has posed:
Isra walks with him, "I think I'd just like to go home and cuddle Ludo or a pillow." she tells him honestly as she looks to him. "You are more than welcome to stay if you'd like. I just thought you might want to go home and maybe get changed or something since I'd feel bad if your tux got messed up." she admits with a chuckle.
