Cast of Characters: Clara Jennings, Ted Grant

Clara Jennings has posed:
It's morning after a long, but very cozy and fun night. If Ted was awake, he would bknow that Clara was home. She'd been away for a few days (working for Mr. Kord) and had also spent a night or two at her mom's place. She has three beds she can use. Whch is for the best, since she is so bad at time management.

One person, three beds. Only this time, one of those beds has two people in it. She being one, a pink-haired girl who dragged her off to a club last night being the other. Again, if one was awake last night, they heard a variety of sounds. Giggling and other things.

But this is morning. And a slender, pink-haired girl with a cherub's face (and a rose tattoo on her hip) is coming out of Clara's bedroom, making for the kitchen. She's wearing a flimsy black camisole and her underwear. That's it!

She is on a mission, though. Clara needs a drink. Interestingly, Clara's friend is not a fellow shorty. She's actually over five-and-a-half feet tall.

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant had a busy night. Three muggings, a bodega hold up and a sweet old lady (thirty years his junior) who thought she was being stalked by talking time traveling gorillas from the future. She wasn't but shit you had to make sure of such things, this being the world.

That said, one of the bodega robbers had a nine with him. Ted's armor panels stopped it but it still stung... but pain reminded him he was alive. Once in the door, from his lovely rooftop he lets his perfect posture, always seeming to be caught in mid flex go limp and he's about to yank his mask off when he sees clara come out...

That ain't Clara.

Cute tattoo.

What the fuck?! "hello sweetie?"

Clara Jennings has posed:
The young woman looks up at Ted. Way up, cause he's tall, and seems completely nonplussed about this encounter. "Oh, you must be Clara's dad. I'm Lissa," she raises a hand to wave at him.

"I know that this is incredibly weird," she adds, laughing. "I really should have put on some pants. Clara was just really thirsty, so I came out here to get her some water. Or coffee. Probably water, coffee isn't good for hydration, and she's going to nee... anyway!"

Lissa laughs at herself. For a girl her age she has massive confidence. A kind of polar opposite to Clara. "Busy night?"

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant declines the extended hand and instead stretches his arms in a gimme a hug gesture. "You don't know the half of it. I nearly pulled my uniform off on the way here. Clara... should have hung a mask on the door so I'd know she was entertaining, and texted me to see if it was cool... " He pulls his phone out and it falls apart. "Oh. Guy had a 2 by 4. Broke it on me. Phone took the hit." He returns to holding his arms out for a hug. "Yer safe... I got a girlfriend. Also, gotta be 21 to get on this ride."

Clara Jennings has posed:
Lissa laughs at Ted's antics. But when she realizes he is serious, she ponders it for a moment. "Ah, what the hell. I have an ID that says that. I'm older than your daughter, anyway." But four months. Which is lot when you are 19.

So she will hug him and laugh about the situation. "So do you go on those patrol things every night? That's what the hero types call it, right? You go out and look for trouble?" She grins, "That's pretty cool. My dad is an accountant. He considers tax season to be his big heroic moment."

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant boops Lissa on the nose. "We go out looking to help. This... can mean trouble." He's suddenly a little self conscious of his bloody knuckles. Not that it's his blood. "An accountant. What do you do besides jazz up any room you're in. Wait, why is Clara missing this and leaving all the awkward for us? Not that we're being awkward. CLARA?! GET OUT HERE!"

Clara Jennings has posed:
Clara does show up. But she lets out a bit of a whiny protest first. "The bed is so waaaarm." She rarely whines. And when she comes out, she looks adorable in her own way. Her hair is a mess, she keeps yawning constantly, and she's wearing one of Ted's shirts. Whether there is anything under it is anyone's guess. Well, Ted's guess. Everyone else here knows the truth of that one.

"I'm a student. I met Clara yesterday, as I was waiting in line at a club. I kinda... changed my plans for the night really quickly." Lissa grins and moves over to slide an arm around Clara, "Hey sunshine. You need a jolf of caffeine?""

Back to Ted, "Saw a great thing, went for it. No regrets. Honestly we just talked all night." A pause. "Okay, I mean other things obviously happened."

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant goes over towards the kitchen. "I'll get us some drinks." He does a drive by snug of Clara lifting her off the floor briefly, careful not to let his shirt ride up too much. "You little minx."

"Ya can't beat a Gotham girl!"

In the kitchen he gets a pitcher of ice water, cuts up some lemons and cucumbers and adds them. He lets the girls talk. Was he ever that young? Yes. Right after the meteor killed the dinosaurs. Hard times!

Clara Jennings has posed:
"Your father is so cool," is the first thing Lissa mentions to Clara. How many dads can just handle their daughter's brand new girlfriend wandering around their kitchen in underwear? Well, handle it in a way that is appropriate and funny.

Clara hugs Teddy and leans against Lissa. She's sleepy still. "Daddy Teddy is the best," she agrees. She is slowly waking up, it seems. And she kisses Lissa on the cheek. "It's Saturday, right? You are free all day, we can just have a day together?"

Lissa sighs and says, "I do have to go to practice this afternoon, but it's only two hours. Then we can uhhh, continue studying each oth.. together." She gives Ted an uncertain look. She probably shouldn't be too inappropriate. This is his daughter she's talking about.

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant calls from the kitchen, "I' grabbing a couple hours sleep then I'm running the gym for the day... till five. Ya can bang each other's brains out all day. Tonight, I call grown up time after seven. Move yer little behinds someplace else. They got a William Castle marathon at the cinema up the street. What kinda practice are ya practicing, Lissa? Are you... an athlete?" She's not that big but her legs reach the ground and there were some devastatingly good athletes in small packages. Tony for one.

Clara Jennings has posed:
"Well, you heard the man," says Lissa. "I can't refuse your father's orders on this one. We'll just to grin and bear it." That shit eating grin couldn't be any happier. This is so surreal to her but she just rolls with it.

Clara, for her part, is blushing so bright she can barely stand it. "You.. bang.. what?" Nervousness hits, yes, but the shock is so great that her hands can't do much at first. Then they do their clumsy thing.

But Lissa doesn't let them. She slips in front of Clara and holds both of her hands. "Sorry, it's no pressure. Things got really fast last night, we can just relax." She grins, "I like watching you read. It's so cute."

Clara tenses for a moment with her hands seized, and then lets out a sigh. She can squeeze Lissa's hands. Her hands have something to do. Someone to hold onto.

"I'm in two sports. Today is La Crosse practice, though. I'm also a gymnast."

Clara blushes at the mention of this and murmurs something under her breath. The only clear word is "bendy."

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant emerges with the water. His mask and cowl are pulled back. This may not be an improvement, given his map. He sets the pitcher and solo cups out then says, "Okay, for Lissa..." He steps away from the furniture and without warning does a double backflip. He ta-daaahs and does a bow waiting for applause. "What's my score?" He grins. Mind he did it without a warm up, or a mat and in a costume.

"You guys should sign up for some of Tony's classes. He teaches dance but he pole dances and does Parkour."

Clara Jennings has posed:
"Damn," says Lissa. "That's incredible. I've never seen a person your size move like that. Straight tens from me, Mr. Grant." She arches an eyebrow at the mention of classes. "Well, I do know my way around apole, but I'd have a lot more fun dancing with your daughter. Maybe she can teach me." A pause, "Wait, you can't pole dance, can you?" She looks intently at Clara. So many questions.

But Clara is laughing nervously at the suggestion. "I, umm, no. I cannot dance like that. Wait, you can? Lissa, are you...?" A big blush. Her inside voice is outside as she adds, "I mean if you are I want to see..."

Lissa kisses Clara on the nose. "You are.. really cute. But, well, where else can a girl make $500 on a weekend without doing something totally disgraceful?" She happily turns the conversation away from her occupation, though.

"So how did you two wind up together? I mean, family resemblance beside, I suspect this is more of an adoption than a birth daughter."

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant laughs a little. "Lissa, my fat ass weight 260 lbs before I eat. They don't make a pole can handle me. I broke tony's like three times before he swore he'd quit if I went near his latest one. You're very sweet. Tony handles that stuff and I bet he'd love to see a fellow artist work his pole. I mean that literally. He's gay and I think he has a boyfriend at the moment." He settles into his recliner with a cup of... ice water. Yay.

"How did we meet? Oh I picked her up at a honky tonk on New Year's Eve and took her home. Someone had slipped her a mickey. =So we danced a little and suddenly she adopted me. C'mere little girl and gimme some sugar. It seems like she's always been with me now."

Clara Jennings has posed:
Lissa giggle at the thought of Ted tearing poles down. "I kinda want to see you do it now. Though hell hath no fury like a dancer without a pole. Probably best to save it for my imagination. But yeah, it'd be fun to work on my routine. I do this thing where I climb to the top of the pole, and we have a good one, it's a solid 15 feet of open air between me and the stage, and when I come back down I land with a slam on my heels." She laughs softly. "I have three pairs, just so I can keep going as the heels are broken again and again. Oh uhh.. please don't tell my parents. They think I have some kind of internship."

Clara is rather surprised by all this news, but she doesn't really mind her girlfriend's vocation. She kisses her on the lips, this time. And takes her time. Before drinking. "I want to see you do that." A pause and she will head over to Ted and settle on his lap. "But yes, umm. Daddy Teddy gave me a place to be. And well, he helped me. I'm not always, you know, umm, the best at things." Her hands, no longer held by Lissa, are struggling, indeed.

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant says, "we should set aside a night for poledancing here. I bet tony knows a bunch of people. He can show his stuff." Without pause Ted takes Clara's hands in one of his. They fit. He snuggles her hoping to calm her nerves. "She's modest to the point 'a idiocy. She's the best lecturer I ever heard. She has a job as an archivist pulling down big bucks. She knows martial arts, which I been helping with. Seriously she can break boards. She's good. She cooks for me, cleans the place up. She's a smoking hot dancer. Lets me throw her all around the floor in a Lindy."

Clara Jennings has posed:
Lissa listens intently. "Jeez, Clara, you sure are modest. I didn't know about half of those talents. Martial arts? And you have a full time job?" Lissa may feel a bit intimidated by some of that, but ultimately, what she remembers about this girl she's fallen for, is that she is delicate, gentle, and adorably sweet. "All those things and yet all that I want is to see you smile."

Which Clara does. She's very shy with all these compliments, and she cannot really downplay it all. With two people who care for her right here, there's no escaping the fact that she's loved. Ted can feel her hands are calming down.

    "Um, come here," Clara says.

She practically drags Lissa to join her. It is a bit unbalanced a load, but Ted can hopefully handle them.

"I'm not. I mean, well, it is true. Technically. But um, I'm just me. You know. The awkward girl who couldn't get into a club."

Ted Grant has posed:
Ted Grant feels Lissa relax after a moment sitting on his leg. He gives both an elaborate group hug though he's doing all the hugging. "I already like you, Lissa." He gives her a peck on the forehead and does the same for Clara. "You make my Clara smile. Plus you're a jock. If you want a membership you get family and friend discount. Also, I want to discuss that tat and where you got it. I may want one. Looks like Bingham's work, down in the Island."

Clara Jennings has posed:
Lissa grins at she gets the Daddy Ted experience. "Careful, I may have to get into this family, too. Be funny to scare some of the guys with you. I'd invite you to the club but I imagine that'd be the weirdest thing ever." She laughs out loud, thiking of explaining it. "Yeah, very weird."

She shakes it off. Lissa can shake anything off. "Yeah, it's his. I got it when I was 16," she explains. "Don't tell him that, though." Since she was using a fake ID.

"I suppose we should umm, let you rest though, dear father." Lissa grins back at Ted. "You mentioned Clara and I were free to enjoy our new mutual hobby together."

Clara finds herself drawn up and laughs nervously. She's very embarrassed. "I um, yes, well." She gives her father a look and giggles at herself. "We will do umm, that then." And off they go!
