|
- Sally Houki has posed:
It's the middle of the night on the docks. The perfect time for a particular and large fishing trawler to line up along the deck and drop anchor. In the darkness, its crew disembarks and soon begins unloading crates, some of which are open enough to reveal fish. Of course, that's just a cover for their real shipment: guns in the crates *under* the top layer of fish. They're keeping busy, too, running to and fro. In a hurry to get this done before someone coomes along. Little do they know that they're too late.
- Rogue has posed:
It wasn't normal for Rogue to work this late as Mighty Woman. Sure, crime didn't care what time it was, but she generally liked to get home earlier. However, when home was a place you didn't feel like being at too much, you end up changing your routines a bit. Plus, she had come across some word of mouth, that something would be going on here tonight, at around this time.
As such, Mighty Woman stood atop a building, tucked up against a bit of the building's facade. In her dark green uniform, with small white lines across the trim, metal boots, and a dark grey shoulder cape, the Southern Belle watched the distant docks down below. She had a small set of binoculars, and held them up to her eyes to peer across the distance, trying to ascertain what was happening down there.
"Is this normal?" She muttered under her breath. "I'm not a damn dock worker... What am I even doin? I ain't Batman either..."
She grumbled a bit more, as she considered just flying off, even glancing to the north in the general direction of home...
- Sally Houki has posed:
A large, white panel van arrives next, its engine rumbling to a halt as a couple more men emerge from it. Hushed conversation follows and one of of them leans over the crates, clearing away the fish and nodding thoughtfully. A briefcase in handed over.
Nope. Nothing suspicious here at *all*. Just a totally normal looking exchange of a briefcase of cash for 'fish'. Totally.
The men start loading the crates into the back of the white, windowless panel van. Totally not suspicious, right?
- Rogue has posed:
The Belle from Mississippi put her eyes up to the binoculars again, and bared witness to the suspicious exchange of a briefcase. This caused her to frown, and bite her bottom lip, as a warm breeze rolled across her place atop a nearby building's roof. She hooked her binocs back in to the white pouch hanging from the belt cinched around her hips, and stepped off the ledge.
Rogue flew, Mighty Woman flew, down toward the ground below. Keeping low, she was able to fly behind a bit of cover, before she ended up dropping out of the sky upon her metal booted feet, suddenly entirely in view of the men with the briefcase.
"Hey there, Sugahs." She stated in her husky voice at them, one hand on her hip. "I don't suppose ya'll are doin' crime? I'm new ta this hero gig, lookin' for some action." That might not play well with the men, but hey, she's a pretty woman, saying she's looking for action!
"Ya'll pushin' drugs on my fair city? That ain't right." Now she's just being plain coy with them.
- Sally Houki has posed:
Most of the men freeze. As with anything in this city, the chance of a cape showing up at an incovenient moment really does exist.
"Just fish," replies one of the men from the panel van smootly to her. He's definitely lying. Way too smooth a response, but he turns the crate towards her so she can see the bunch of fish on top.
.... but this is just a distraction for his partner, who pulls a large gun of some kind from underneath the fish. It definitely looks 'futuristic' too say the least, and given that the energy that it dispenses from its nozzel is a ball of plasma that's coming directly for her, dangerous as hell. Nothing a hero the caliber of Rogue can't deal with, but who can blame them for trying, right?
- Rogue has posed:
Mighty Woman's green eyes watched the assortment of shady men, all staring at her now. She had a sly grin at the very situation of it, but it was the smooth talking one, that showed her the fish, who got her attention. "Dang, are those North Atlantic Cod? I hear they're delicious!"
The gun is produced, and it doesn't take a genius to see that it is some kind of alien tech, or hybri tech, weapon! Rogue's Seventh Sense kicks in, and the tingling sensation of incoming danger alerts her to move! And move she does...
Rogue zips over the heads of the men, taking off from her standing position, and shoots right toward the fan they were loading the stuff through. She dips right over it, and right out of the path of that spherical plasma ball! When it collides with a bunch of boxes, Mighty Woman is already up above the fan, pushing at it to shove it over on to its side.
"That ain't how ya treat a lady, fellas!" She grunts out at them, her husky voice only slightly strained, as even a van is far below her 75 tons of strength!
- Sally Houki has posed:
And the van crashes over on itst side, a couple of the men still inside it to load it up yelping as they're careeneed around the interior. Meanwhile, a few of the other men present get the idea and reach for the guns as well. One of them HAS to hit her, right? Sending plasma balls around is a *brillant* idea and in no way can end poorly for them.
Down the way, a young woman rounds the corner. She's completely out of place here, dressed in colorful, bright clothing and eccentrically kawaii fashion, bright pastel ribbons and all. She stops dead at the scene.
"Oh," she says to herself, "Guess I was late."
- Rogue has posed:
When Rogue was keyed in to that Seventh Sense, it was much more prime to successfully helping her dodge incoming threats to her well being, which was the case right now. If she hadn't seen that initial attack coming, it made for a much trickier reliability for her danger sense to really show itself. But, as such, she was left in a prime position to duck, twirl, and dip herself out of the sky to avoid some of the incoming plasma fire. Balls of sparkling energy shot up in to the sky, or around her in to the facade of the nearby storage centers. With some debris flying, Rogue soaring, and the men frantically trying to take the cape down, Mighty Woman ended up behind a tall stack of shipping crates, and with ease she shouldered them right on to the ground, pouring a bunch of fish out on to the pavement!
She was still facing a lot, for someone seemingly by herself.
- Sally Houki has posed:
The crates go over, fish spilling outt alongside more of the rifles that they're using against her. A couple of themn, hit by them, go down. Another one slips in the fish and falls on the ground, gun clattering away as he scrambles to grab it.
The two from the white panel van, however, are easily the most dangerous of the bunch and plainly familiar with the weapons. They're clearly starting to heat up quite a bit and the nozzles are starting to glow orange. That's a good sign, right?
Meanwhile, that girl down the way is heading towards the fight rather than away from it. Like she has something in mind.
- Rogue has posed:
At this point, with what is going on all around her, Rogue is too preocupied to notice the incoming girl from the alley. She's got her attention on the gaggle of guys gunning for her with gnarly weapons. "Come on, ya'll! This isn't even a fair fight! ya know these kinda weapons killed some kids the other day, right?" She shouts out, as she flies behind another stack of crates, her eyes peering out for a moment to see the men's overheating weapons. "ya'll aren't even usin' the right kinda batteries for these bad boys! Ya know that is why these alien guns aren't able to be mass produced, right?"
She shoves another stack of crates over, but this time, she dashes out toward one of the men with the overheating gun, her fists out, to slam them in to the man's chest!
- Sally Houki has posed:
It burns. He screams. His clothes catch on fire. He drops to the ground like a sack of potatos, really. The others are screaming, starting to break up and make their own runs for it while a couple are still comitted to going down swinging.
But there is one who has been taking careful aim. One who might actually hit her, seeing as how he's managed to find her blindspot. He definitely has the bead on her. One of these guys only has to get lucky once, after all. That's how they are bound to look at it. It's just that as he's about to fire, that girl has arrived next to him. "I think that's a pretty bad idea, don't you?" she asks him.
"Eh?" He says, concentration disrupted as he doubletakes at her.
"I'm just saying! It's not a great idea, you --" The man rounds her and clocks her right in the face and then tries to reaim at Rogue. The girl goes down like a sack of potatos.
- Rogue has posed:
When the man's clothing caught fire, Rogue had to act to help him out. She wasn't one for maiming people, or melting their skin off. She quickly crouches down to grasp hold of his shoulders, and jumps off of the mess spread across the ground. Carrying the burning man to a large rain puddle that had gathered up around a shipping container, Rogue splashes the man down in to it, the water spraying up around them both. She's got her back to the man, who was about to fire on herr. She would have taken the blast right in the back too, if the stranger hadn't arrived to draw the man's aim off.
Rogue caught him take a shot at the girl, then attempt to re-aim his weapon. She skipped forward, her heavy metal armored right boot kicking a block of ice, that sent it flying toward the man's aimed gun, and his chest behind it! The heavy block of ice had come out of one of the fish storage containers, and with it a large collection of silvery skinned fish are sent right at the gun toting gangster!
"not cool!" Rogue / Mighty Woman informed him, as she started rushing toward him, her next kick aimed to slam his gun out of his hand!
- Sally Houki has posed:
Welp, that works.
With him down, clutching his hand in pain after the gun is kicked out of it, the fight is out of him for the moment, and those that aren't already down are turning to run.
"Owww," groans the colorfully dressed woman on the floor. "Mmmmggh oowwwwww." She sits up slowly, her hand cooming away bloody from her nose. "Ow ow ow, you asshole!"
- Rogue has posed:
This was one of the bigger events that Mighty Woman has gotten in to in the past several months, and because of it, she was already a bit nervous about what might come from the fallout here. This was a big weapons deal... even her Mississippi mind could figure that out. "Shit..." Rogue muttered, watching the handful of fleeing men go, allowing it since she had enough to deal with already.
She ended up by the Stranger, and knelt down beside her. "You okay, Sugah?" She quietly asked in her husky hued voice, one gloved hand going to rest on her shoulder, gloved and protected from the wrath of Rogue's skin, the glove going all the way up past her elbow.
"ya took quite a punch there, it might be broken. But, I sure am grateful for it, if that helps..."
- Sally Houki has posed:
"Ow ow ow," mumbles Sally, hand going to her head. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine! Just, you know, you would have been really hurt and that seems like it would be bad for all the people you're going to save in the future. Feels like a lot of them." She squints at her, as if looking somewhere beyond her for a moment, and then blinks her eyes. "Oh yeah! Hi. Most people call me Sally. It's totally great to meet you... I think." The sounds of groaning comes from the injured gunrunners on the ground.
- Rogue has posed:
Rogue leans forward a bit, as Sally speaks, her eyes on the woman's injury. "Lemme get a look at that." She quietly said, as she raised her hand up to gently touch at the base of the bridge of her nose. When she saw Sally react, she frowned, and sat back. "yeah, I think it might be cracked, at least... Here," Rogue reached to her belt, where a number of white pouches were connected to her hip. She popped one one, fished out a white handkerchief, and offered it to her. "Take this, Mustang Sally. Keep it." She added with a faint smile.
When she heard a groan from one of the men, the Southern Belle reached a hand out, picked up a large wet fish, and threw it at the man's face. "Shuddup, Prick." She told him, after the fish smacked right against the side of his face. "NYPD is on the way. Just lay there and bleed."
She put her green eyes on Sally, and offered her a hand. "Not you. Come on, lemme help you stand up."
- Sally Houki has posed:
Accepting the hand up, Sally clambers to her feet with an exhale of breath. With the handkerchief pressed to her nose, she says, "You know, this hurts. Just a second, I'm gonna fix it and I'll be right back!"
... and then she suddenly vanishes, tthe white, bloodstained handkerchief fluttering to the ground in her wake.
- Rogue has posed:
Rogue was up on her armored boots, releasing Sally's hand, and observing her with a curious stare. She watched the girl simply disappear, and with it, Rogue took a step back. Her green eyes looked right, then looked left. She muttered softly under her breath, as she glanced down at her phone. "Everyone is so damn special anymore..." She said in to the device.
Truth be told, she figured the girl must have some manner of super heroic abilities. What kind of psychopathic girl would walk up to a man with a plasma rifle aimed at a Cape, and try to intervene?
With a few taps to her screen, Rogue alerted the NYPD about the situation at her locale. Being that she was a public super, she had a direct in with the Cops, via a specialized app for people like her.
"ya'll really should stop dealin in guns like this. If ya took that alien tech, and just turned it inta like... I dunno, a toaster, I wouldn't have even cared a whick to have stopped ya tonight." Rogue said, to those men capable of still hearing her.
She glanced over at one, that was laying on his back, and her right metal foot went to press down against his chest. "No funny business, Pal." She said down to him, showing him a light smirk.
"Funny business?" He asked her, blood coming out of HIS nose too, "Lady, I think I'm in love."
"That's what they all say," rogue fired back.
